  • some help required while working on java and cigwin together .

    - by Hippo
Hello .. I am new to java and also cygwin . I do not have in detailed knowledge of both . I need some help.. I simple steps i will try to explain my problem. 1) I am working on tinyOS . its open source OS , used for wireless sensor networks. It provides java libraries to work on communication (PC to sensor) 2) I am working on windows xp environment through cigwin. 3) I am developing an application . THis application requires one java interface called "Serial Forwarder" , which is readily available in libraries provided. Previously i used to start this interface manually (by entering command *"java net.tinyos.sf.SerialForwarder ")*and then my application which uses this interface. But now i want to make my application independent . User need know about this background cygwin commands . 4) So in my java application i used "Runtime.getRuntime().exec( "java net.tinyos.sf.SerialForwarder)" . 5) This i neither giving any error nor starting the interface. Am I going on right way ? When i am using runtime execute command , how can i make sure that this command is called through cigwin interface ? Also .. if i want to write .bat file .. i which i can give commands which will be executed .. how can i make sure that those commands are given through cigwin .. and not through cmd.exe .. Please help . me .

  • Casting Error with Reflection

    - by Mitchel Sellers
I have an application that uses plugins that are managed via an interface I then dynamically load the plugin classes and cast them to the interface to work with them. I have the following line of code, assume that IPlugin is my interface. IPlugin _plugin = (IPlugin)Activator.CreateInstance(oInfo.Assembly, oInfo.FullyQualifiedName) This should be pretty simple, create the instance and cast it to the interface. I know that the assembly and fully qualified name values are correct, but I am getting the following exception. Exception= System.InvalidCastException: Unable to cast object of type ‘System.Runtime.Remoting.ObjectHandle’ to type ‘MyNamespace.Components.Integration.IPlugin’. at MyNamespace.Components.Integration.PluginProxy..ctor(Int32 instanceId) Any ideas what could cause this?

  • Python code translation to JVM

    - by jldupont
Is there such a thing as a "translator" (for lack of a better word in my mind now) that translates Python code directly to JVM / Dalvik bytecode? Would be great for writing Android applications in Python! NOTE: I know about the scripting capabilities of the Android platform but I am looking for something that would generate a '.apk' without having to install the 'scripting' package... annoying for end-users.

I want to run scripts from the Linux or Mac OS X command line, much like we run any other scripting language (ruby, php, perl, python...) $ javascript my_javascript_code.js I looked into spider monkey (Mozilla) and v8 (Google), but both of these appear to be embedded. Is anyone using Javascript as a scripting language to be executed from the command line? If anyone is curious why I am looking into this, I've been poking around node.js

  • Can I constrain a template parameter class to implement the interfaces that are supported by other?

    - by K. Georgiev
The name is a little blurry, so here's the situation: I'm writing code to use some 'trajectories'. The trajectories are an abstract thing, so I describe them with different interfaces. So I have a code as this: namespace Trajectories { public interface IInitial < Atom > { Atom Initial { get; set; } } public interface ICurrent < Atom > { Atom Current { get; set; } } public interface IPrevious < Atom > { Atom Previous { get; set; } } public interface ICount < Atom > { int Count { get; } } public interface IManualCount < Atom > : ICount < Atom > { int Count { get; set; } } ... } Every concrete implementation of a trajectory will implement some of the above interfaces. Here's a concrete implementation of a trajectory: public class SimpleTrajectory < Atom > : IInitial < Atom >, ICurrent < Atom >, ICount < Atom > { // ICount public int Count { get; private set; } // IInitial private Atom initial; public Atom Initial { get { return initial; } set { initial = current = value; Count = 1; } } // ICurrent private Atom current; public Atom Current { get { return current; } set { current = value; Count++; } } } Now, I want to be able to deduce things about the trajectories, so, for example I want to support predicates about different properties of some trajectory: namespace Conditions { public interface ICondition &lt Atom, Trajectory &gt { bool Test(ref Trajectory t); } public class CountLessThan &lt Atom, Trajectory &gt : ICondition &lt Atom, Trajectory &gt where Trajectory : Trajectories.ICount &lt Atom &gt { public int Value { get; set; } public CountLessThan() { } public bool Test(ref Trajectory t) { return t.Count &lt Value; } } public class CurrentNormLessThan &lt Trajectory &gt : ICondition &lt Complex, Trajectory &gt where Trajectory : Trajectories.ICurrent &lt Complex &gt { public double Value { get; set; } public CurrentNormLessThan() { } public bool Test(ref Trajectory t) { return t.Current.Norm() &lt Value; } } } Now, here's the question: What if I wanted to implement AND predicate? It would be something like this: public class And &lt Atom, CondA, TrajectoryA, CondB, TrajectoryB, Trajectory &gt : ICondition &lt Atom, Trajectory &gt where CondA : ICondition &lt Atom, TrajectoryA &gt where TrajectoryA : // Some interfaces where CondB : ICondition &lt Atom, TrajectoryB &gt where TrajectoryB : // Some interfaces where Trajectory : // MUST IMPLEMENT THE INTERFACES FOR TrajectoryA AND THE INTERFACES FOR TrajectoryB { public CondA A { get; set; } public CondB B { get; set; } public bool Test(ref Trajectory t){ return A.Test(t) && B.Test(t); } } How can I say: support only these trajectories, for which the arguments of AND are ok? So I can be able to write: var vand = new CountLessThan(32) & new CurrentNormLessThan(4.0); I think if I create an orevall interface for every subset of interfaces, I could be able to do it, but it will become quite ugly.

  • Can't select View Content dropdown when adding view in MVC using Interfaces

    - by fearofawhackplanet
I have my Model defined externally in two projects - a Core project and an Interface project. I am opening the Add View dialogue from my controller, and selecting Create a strongly typed view. In the drop down list, I can select the concrete types like MyProject.Model.Core.OrderDetails, but the interface types like MyProject.Model.Interface.IOrderDetails aren't there. I can type the interface class in manually and everything works, but then the View content menu that lets you select the Create, Delete, List, etc scaffolding is disabled. Is there some problem with using interfaces in MVC? Or is it something else I'm missing?

  • Movieclip stacking in Actionscript

    - by Glycerine
I'm building a game of which the interface is one of the first items to load on screen. Sound button, pause and all the bits - During the game - all manor of things are dynamically added and removed to the stage. Therefore my interface goes behind my game scene. How do I ensure the movieclip always stays on top? Can I override the addChild of my Document Class and every time a new child is added, I restack the interface to the top?

  • eclipse add unimplemented methods including javadoc

    - by dcp
When implementing an interface in eclipse, it has a really nice feature that lets you "add unimplemented methods", and it will generate the method stubs for the interface methods. However, it does not bring along the method documentation from the interface methods, and I was wondering if there was a way to get eclipse to do that.

  • Where do interfaces belong in a multitier application

    - by Russell Steen
So say you have a three tier application with the tiers UI, Services, and Repository for a simple application, let's say saving addresses. If AddressService has an interface IAddressService, where does that interface belong? I know that "in the address service" may seem like an obvious answer, but if it's in the address service it would seem to defeat the point of having the interface such that any service library could be swapped in as long as it implemented IAddressService. (specifically this is in a .net problem space, but it's probably more general so it's tagged architecture)

  • Advantage of creating a generic repository vs. specific repository for each object?

    - by LuckyLindy
We are developing an ASP.NET MVC application, and are now building the repository/service classes. I'm wondering if there are any major advantages to creating a generic IRepository interface that all repositories implement, vs. each Repository having its own unique interface and set of methods. For example: a generic IRepository interface might look like (taken from this answer): public interface IRepository : IDisposable { T[] GetAll<T>(); T[] GetAll<T>(Expression<Func<T, bool>> filter); T GetSingle<T>(Expression<Func<T, bool>> filter); T GetSingle<T>(Expression<Func<T, bool>> filter, List<Expression<Func<T, object>>> subSelectors); void Delete<T>(T entity); void Add<T>(T entity); int SaveChanges(); DbTransaction BeginTransaction(); } Each Repository would implement this interface (e.g. CustomerRepository:IRepository, ProductRepository:IRepository, etc). The alternate that we've followed in prior projects would be: public interface IInvoiceRepository : IDisposable { EntityCollection<InvoiceEntity> GetAllInvoices(int accountId); EntityCollection<InvoiceEntity> GetAllInvoices(DateTime theDate); InvoiceEntity GetSingleInvoice(int id, bool doFetchRelated); InvoiceEntity GetSingleInvoice(DateTime invoiceDate, int accountId); //unique InvoiceEntity CreateInvoice(); InvoiceLineEntity CreateInvoiceLine(); void SaveChanges(InvoiceEntity); //handles inserts or updates void DeleteInvoice(InvoiceEntity); void DeleteInvoiceLine(InvoiceLineEntity); } In the second case, the expressions (LINQ or otherwise) would be entirely contained in the Repository implementation, whoever is implementing the service just needs to know which repository function to call. I guess I don't see the advantage of writing all the expression syntax in the service class and passing to the repository. Wouldn't this mean easy-to-messup LINQ code is being duplicated in many cases? For example, in our old invoicing system, we call InvoiceRepository.GetSingleInvoice(DateTime invoiceDate, int accountId) from a few different services (Customer, Invoice, Account, etc). That seems much cleaner than writing the following in multiple places: rep.GetSingle(x => x.AccountId = someId && x.InvoiceDate = someDate.Date); The only disadvantage I see to using the specific approach is that we could end up with many permutations of Get* functions, but this still seems preferable to pushing the expression logic up into the Service classes. What am I missing?

  • Generic object to object mapping with parametrized constructor

    - by Rody van Sambeek
I have a data access layer which returns an IDataRecord. I have a WCF service that serves DataContracts (dto's). These DataContracts are initiated by a parametrized constructor containing the IDataRecord as follows: [DataContract] public class DataContractItem { [DataMember] public int ID; [DataMember] public string Title; public DataContractItem(IDataRecord record) { this.ID = Convert.ToInt32(record["ID"]); this.Title = record["title"].ToString(); } } Unfortanately I can't change the DAL, so I'm obliged to work with the IDataRecord as input. But in generat this works very well. The mappings are pretty simple most of the time, sometimes they are a bit more complex, but no rocket science. However, now I'd like to be able to use generics to instantiate the different DataContracts to simplify the WCF service methods. I want to be able to do something like: public T DoSomething<T>(IDataRecord record) { ... return new T(record); } So I'd tried to following solutions: Use a generic typed interface with a constructor. doesn't work: ofcourse we can't define a constructor in an interface Use a static method to instantiate the DataContract and create a typed interface containing this static method. doesn't work: ofcourse we can't define a static method in an interface Use a generic typed interface containing the new() constraint doesn't work: new() constraint cannot contain a parameter (the IDataRecord) Using a factory object to perform the mapping based on the DataContract Type. does work, but: not very clean, because I now have a switch statement with all mappings in one file. I can't find a real clean solution for this. Can somebody shed a light on this for me? The project is too small for any complex mapping techniques and too large for a "switch-based" factory implementation.

  • StructureMap problems with bidirectional/circular dependencies

    - by leozilla
I am currently integrating StructureMap within our business layer but have problems because of bidirectional dependencies. The layer contains multiple manager where each manager can call methods on each other, there are no restrictions or rules for communication. This also includes possible circular dependencies like in the example below. I know the design itself is questionable but currently we just want StructureMap to work and will focus on further refactoring in the future. Every manager implements the IManager interface internal interface IManager { bool IsStarted { get; } void Start(); void Stop(); } And does also have his own specific interface. internal interface IManagerA : IManager { void ALogic(); } internal interface IManagerB : IManager { void BLogic(); } Here are to dummy manager implementations. internal class ManagerA : IManagerA { public IManagerB ManagerB { get; set; } public void ALogic() { } public bool IsStarted { get; private set; } public void Start() { } public void Stop() { } } internal class ManagerB : IManagerB { public IManagerA ManagerA { get; set; } public void BLogic() { } public bool IsStarted { get; private set; } public void Start() { } public void Stop() { } } Here is the StructureMap configuration i use atm. I am still not sure how i should register the managers so currently i use a manual registration. Maybee someone could help me with this too. For<IManagerA>().Singleton().Use<ManagerA>(); For<IManagerB>().Singleton().Use<ManagerB>(); SetAllProperties(convention => { // configure the property injection for all managers convention.Matching(prop => typeof(IManager).IsAssignableFrom(prop.PropertyType)); }); After all i cannot create IManagerA because StructureMap complians about the circular dependency between ManagerA and ManagerB. Is there an easy and clean solution to solve this problem but keep to current design? br David

  • Some basic COM question...

    - by smwikipedia
I have just finished my first COM server DLL. And it runs smoothly. So I'd like to show my understanding for now and hear your critics. 1- How COM simply works? COM - "The Call Chain" COM Lib methods - Traditional DLL exports - Classes encapsulated in the COM DLL 2- With C++, the benefits like "interface" in OOP can only be taken advantage of at the source level. With COM, these benefits can be used at a binary level. 3- Some illustration about interface &pInterface ------- pInterface ---------- Interface----------------- methods Ixx ** Ixx * (method table) (void **) A Interface is a data structure in memory. It's nothing but a memory area containg a method table. Is my understanding alright? Thanks for your revision.

  • ActionScript: Type coercion problem with BlazeDS/AMF and class interfaces

    - by mike
Hi, I've got a problem with type coercion in a Java/Hibernate/BlazeDS/Flex-Setup. First of all, my classes look like this: --- JAVA --- Interface I (Abstract) Class A implements I Class B extends A --- ActionScript --- Interface I Class A implements I Class B extends A I got RemoteClass-Meta-Tags in all ActionScript-Classes/Interfaces I, A and B. Package structure and Class/Interface names are exactly the same. Now here's the problem: My Java Service successfully retrieves objects of class B from my database via Hibernate. I got another class C which has a member property of interface type I, so it should be possible to assign an object of type B. But for some reason i get the following error message: TypeError: Error #1034: cannot convert Object@28b44a89 to package.name.I I checked the Java object type in the service and it is of type B and seems to be totally fine. Why can't the object of type B be assigned to a member variable of type I? This is driving me nuts. Thanks in advance.

  • About Data Objects and DAO Design when using Hibernate

    - by X. Ma
I'm hesitating between two designs of a database project using Hibernate. Design #1. (1) Create a general data provider interface, including a set of DAO interfaces and general data container classes. It hides the underneath implementation. A data provider implementation could access data in database, or an XML file, or a service, or something else. The user of a data provider does not to know about it. (2) Create a database library with Hibernate. This library implements the data provider interface in (1). The bad thing about Design #1 is that in order to hide the implementation details, I need to create two sets of data container classes. One in the general data provider interface - let's call them DPI-Objects, the other set is used in the database library, exclusively for entity/attribute mapping in Hibernate - let's call them H-Objects. In the DAO implementation, I need to read data from database to create H-Objects (via Hibernate) and then convert H-Objects into DPI-Objects. Design #2. Do not create a general data provider interface. Expose H-Objects directly to components that use the database lib. So the user of the database library needs to be aware of Hibernate. I like design #1 more, but I don't want to create two sets of data container classes. Is that the right way to hide H-Objects and other Hibernate implementation details from the user who uses the database-based data provider? Are there any drawbacks of Design #2? I will not implement other data provider in the new future, so should I just forget about the data provider interface and use Design #2? What do you think about this? Thanks for your time!

  • What would be the best .NET 2.0 type to represent .NET 3.5 HashSet<T>?

    - by Will Marcouiller
I'm writing myself a class library to manage Active Directory. I have an interface: Public Interface ISourceAnnuaire(Of T as {IGroupe, ITop, IUniteOrganisation, IUtilisateur}) Readonly Property Changements As Dictionary(Of T, HashSet(Of String)) End Interface This Changements property is used to save in memory the changes that occur on a particular element that is part of the source. However, I am stuck with .NET Framework 2.0. What would be the closest .NET 2.0 for HashSet(Of String)?

  • How to find the first declaring method for a reference method

    - by Oliver Gierke
Suppose you have a generic interface and an implementation: public interface MyInterface<T> { void foo(T param); } public class MyImplementation<T> implements MyInterface<T> { void foo(T param) { } } These two types are frework types. In the next step I want allow users to extend that interface as well as redeclare foo(T param) to maybe equip it with further annotations. public interface MyExtendedInterface extends MyInterface<Bar> { @Override void foo(Bar param); // Further declared methods } I create an AOP proxy for the extended interface and intercept especially the calls to furtherly declared methods. As foo(…) is no redeclared in MyExtendedInterface I cannot execute it by simply invoking MethodInvocation.proceed() as the instance of MyImplementation only implements MyInterface.foo(…) and not MyExtendedInterface.foo(…). So is there a way to get access to the method that declared a method initially? Regarding this example is there a way to find out that foo(Bar param) was declared in MyInterface originally and get access to the accoriding Method instance? I already tried to scan base class methods to match by name and parameter types but that doesn't work out as generics pop in and MyImplementation.getMethod("foo", Bar.class) obviously throws a NoSuchMethodException. I already know that MyExtendedInterface types MyInterface to Bar. So If I could create some kind of "typed view" on MyImplementation my math algorithm could work out actually.

  • LIBPCAP and WIRESHARK Capture on PPP

    - by user655629
Hi, I have written a small bridge program using LIBPCAP API. I have installed Winpcap 3.1 Beta for support in order to capture from a PPP interface. What i do is, I capture from the PPP interface through my LIBPCAP program and send the traffic to another Ethernet interface in my computer. Then i connect this Ethernet Interface to another Ethernet Interface at another computer where i monitor it through Wireshark. So in short my PPP-Ethernet Bridge is on computer 1. And Another computer2 directly connected to computer1 on Ethernet monitors the incoming traffic from the bridge through wireshark. The problem i face is that when i capture PPP traffic through wireshark in computer1, i see reasonable delay between the packets. But when i use my LIBPCAP program to capture and relay traffic and check the traffic on computer 2 using Wireshark it gives jumps of 0.5seconds delay after some packets. This is quite unexplainable to me. I dont understand how wireshark PPP direct capture on computer 1 does not give delay and LIBPCAP program is giving delay. I have checked my bridge for Ethernet to Ethernet relaying and there is no delay like the one i am experiencing in case of PPP-Ethernet. a higher delay between packets is acceptable but such a BIG delay after a couple of packets is unacceptable. Please help if you can. Best Regards FIKA
