    I have an outer div that is 800px wide. I have an inner div that could be anywhere from 200 to 600px wide. I know how to center the inner div within the outer one if I set the inner one to have a specific width, but how do I center it since its a variable width? Is there a way to set the div to only be the width of the elements inside of it, rather than having it expand to fill its containing div?

The 3rd should take up the rest of the page. Eventually, I'm going to add options to hide and show the 2 columns on the left. But, why is the color purple extending all the way to the browser's left edge? I am trying to get it to start at the word "Three".

    I'm working on a few animations with jQuery. I have 3-4 elements which should slide in from the top.     hi, I have a sequence of couples of elements. (.div1, .div2) I'm using position:relative attribute on .div2 to move it a bit on top and right with respect to div1. However .div1 elements have different content and heights, so the relative positioning of .div2 is not consistent (they sometimes are too high, sometimes too low). .div2 { position:relative; left:200px; top:-300; } thanks

I also saw Base *B = new Derived; How to explain this? B is a pointer to Base Class, and a Derived class constructed and pointed by B? If there is a function derived from Base class, say, Virtual void f(), and it's been overridden in Derived class, then B->f() will invoke which version of the function? version in Base class, or version that overridden in Derived Class. What if there is a new function void g()in Derived, is B->g() going to invoke this function properly? One more is, is int *a = new double; or int *a = new int; legal?

    I am writing this program to take a root music note and populate tables with various scales from that root note. So, many of the tables cells will have the exact same value in them. I realize I can call my "useScale" function for every single that I need to write text to but since there will be repeats, it seemed like there should be a way to run my function once and apply the results to multiple but it did not work to use the document.getElementsByClassName("").innerHTML, I had been using "ById" which worked fine but each ID must be unique so, I can't write to multiple elements.   • How to resize & move css divisions at same time?

    I have a division in which i'll be having dynamic numbers of colorful blocks(that too divisions) at various instances. On clicking the box, i want them to expand & cover whole screen. the problem is, while boxes are expanding, they are expanding at there own position & not shifting in the screen.. I used: .elemented1 { width: 100%; height: 80%; -webkit-animation: elemen1 0.3s; border: 0px; } @-webkit-keyframes elemen1 { from { width: 49.6%; height: 39.6%; } to { width: 100%; height: 80%; } } This is working fine but i have to put blocks dynamically. I cant write animations for individual blocks as they will be of different sizes.

    It is possible to use position:absolute and left and right on the middle column to set where it ends in relation to the parent div. However I'd like to be able to have the left side of the center div to start right where the left column ends, and for the left column to be adjustable (based on its content). This seems like a really basic thing but from what I understand there is no way to do this without flexboxes. Is this true? Is there nothing I could do with clever nesting of semantically superfluous elements and certain styles set to auto?

And if I changed the EM value, say, body { font-size: 62.5%/1em; } the computed font-size remained 16px. My question is, Is it standard compliant to write something like that? And how to computed the actual font-size?
