    I have a WSDL with various portTypes. Some of the contain only output <operation name="getServerTimeZone"> <output message="s0:getServerTimeZoneSoapOut"/> </operation> I would expect that the correct should be: <operation name="getServerTimeZone"> <input message="s0:getServerTimeZoneSoapIn"/> <output message="s0:getServerTimeZoneSoapOut"/> </operation> The problem is that when I am trying to create stubs from the WSDL using gsoap wsdl2h parser I got the following error: No wsdl:definitions/portType/operation/input I haven't tested with other tools (ie WSDL2Java). My question: Is it valid to have a portType with no input? I am using AltovaXML Spy and this WSDL passes the validation.... Is there any meaning having WSDL operation with no input? (I am not talking about One-Way Message Passing, where you can have input but no output - this is valid).

    I can marshal and unmarshal 1 object with no problems (in netbeans); I need to know how to do this with multiple objects? I can't generate anything but null pointer exceptions when trying to unmarshal 3 objects into an array from XML; so I don't even know if I've marshalled the 3 out correctly. I know the basic idea of declaring the object, then using the jaxbu or jaxbm command, but I'd like to see this working for more than one object. **TLDR: How do I marshal/unmarshal multiple objects of a single class into/out of XML??     I'm looking for hosting for an ASP.NET MVC 1.0 app. I've narrowed down with research to either asphostportal, asphostcentral, godaddy, or 1&1. I've ruled out crystaltech and softsyshosting due to price with better plans. Will be running a small e-commerce site written with ASP.NET MVC 1.0 and want to be sure it will work, as well as looking for cheapest price with best value in regards to disk space/bandwidth. And bandwidth is basically how much data can be sent from your site per month right? Any opinions appreciated as I'm finding this tough to narrow down. I know you can bin deploy MVC but heard full trust mode is required as well as some routing rules in IIS. 1&1 says they can't enable full trust.     I'd like to know what people consider best practice for securing the Admin sections of websites, specifically from an authentication/access point of view. Of course there are obvious things, such as using SSL and logging all access, but I'm wondering just where above these basic steps people consider the bar to be set. For example: Are you just relying on the same authentication mechanism that you use for normal users? If not, what? Are you running the Admin section in the same 'application domain'? What steps do you take to make the admin section undiscovered? (or do you reject the while 'obscurity' thing)

  • Modularizing web applications

    Hey all, I was wondering how big companies tend to modularize components on their page. Facebook is a good example: There's a team working on Search that has its own CSS, javascript, html, etc.. There's a team working on the news feed that has its own CSS, javascript, html, etc... ... And the list goes on They cannot all be aware of what everyone is naming their div tags and whatnot, so what's the controller(?) doing to hook all these components in on the final page?? Note: This doesn't just apply to facebook - any company that has separate teams working on separate components has some logic that helps them out. EDIT: Thanks all for the responses, unfortunately I still haven't really found what I'm looking for - when you check out the source code (granted its minified), the divs have UIDs, my guess is that there is a compilation process that runs through and makes each of the components unique, renaming divs and css rules.. any ideas? EDIT 2: Thanks all for contributing your thoughts - the bounty went to the highest upvoted answer. The question was designed to be vague- I think it led to a really interesting discussion.   • Help me choose a web development framework/platform that will make me learn something

    I'm having a bit of an overload of information these past two days. I'm planning to start my own website that will allow local businesses to list their items on sale, and then users can come in and search for "Abercrombie t-shirt" and the stores that sell them will be listed. It's a neat little project I'm really excited for and I'm sure it'll take off, but I'm having problems from the get go. Sure I could use ASP.Net for it, I'm a bit familiar with it and the IDE for ASP.Net pages is bar-none, but I feel this is a great chance for me to learn something new to branch out a bit and not regurgitate .NET like a robot. I've been looking and asking around but it's all just noise and I can't make an educated decision. Can you help me choose a framework/platform that will make me learn something that's a nice thing to know in the job market, but also nice for me to grow as a professional? So far I've looked at: Ruby on Rails Kohana CakePHP CodeIgniter Symfony But they are all very esoteric to me, and I have trouble even finding out which IDE to use to that will let me use auto-complete for the proprietary keywords/methods.   • How do I prove to a client/advertiser that my site's analytics numbers are what I say they are?

    I have been asked to provide recommendations on "Verified Analytics" for the next iteration of my company's site. Verified to mean that when we sell ad space, it's based on a number of page-views, and the people who buy that space want a way to verify that the numbers we give them are the actual numbers we're delivering. I have turned to The Google and the only services I can find for this sort of thing revolve around Google Analytics and the sale of a domain name. I export my analytics numbers to a PDF, have Google email the PDF to my auctioneer, and they look for signs of tampering. If no signs of tampering are found they put a little "Verified" badge on the domain auction. (Here) Other than this, and something similar on another domain sales site, I haven't found anything like what I've been asked to find. Currently we are using Google Analytics, however I've been also asked to recommend a replacement for that based on the ability to be verified. I'd rather just stick with Google Analytics since we also use Google for advertising.

  • What mutex/locking/waiting mechanism to use when writing a Chat application with Tornado Web Framewo

    We're implementing a Chat server using Tornado. The premise is simple, a user makes open an HTTP ajax connection to the Tornado server, and the Tornado server answers only when a new message appears in the chat-room. Whenever the connection closes, regardless if a new message came in or an error/timeout occurred, the client reopens the connection. Looking at Tornado, the question arises of what library can we use to allow us to have these calls wait on some central object that would signal them - A_NEW_MESSAGE_HAS_ARRIVED_ITS_TIME_TO_SEND_BACK_SOME_DATA. To describe this in Win32 terms, each async call would be represented as a thread that would be hanging on a WaitForSingleObject(...) on some central Mutex/Event/etc. We will be operating in a standard Python environment (Tornado), is there something built-in we can use, do we need an external library/server, is there something Tornado recommends?     I'm trying to load an web.config from a server. Its placed at: \server\folders\web.config when i try this: ConfigurationManager.OpenExeConfiguration(@"\\server\folders\web.config"); it searches for: web.config.config and fails. ConfigurationManager.OpenExeConfiguration(@"\\server\folders\web"); it fails, because there is no folder \server\folders\web\ So i tried several things and it seems as its checking wether the file the path is pointing on exists, and afterwards it appliers a .config and gets the config file. Just for fun i created an web.loaders file, and a web.loaders.config file. with ConfigurationManager.OpenExeConfiguration(@"\\server\folders\web.local"); it loads the \server\folders\web.local.config perfectly, but throws Exceptions without the web.local file. So there a many ways to get this small thing loaded, but isn't there a more nice one than using a temp .web file or something? Any help i highly appreciated, yours Harry

  • How To: Transfer Categories in Outlook 2007 from One Installation to Another Using Google Sync

    I use Outlook 2007 for email. I also happen to use the categories for organizing my mail. This function is cool, because you can use keyboard shortcuts that make categorizing mail quick and easy. The problem I am having is that, since I use Google Apps Sync at home and at work, I can't seem to figure out how to transfer the existing category assignments that I spent months creating at work. As my email comes and goes, I assign this and that, with thousands of messages all belonging to specific categories. When I finally installed and started using Google Apps Sync at home, the synchronization process works great, but all my messages are blank, i.e., don't have the color categories I assigned at work. What's worse, I actually changed computers at work, and now am facing the same problem on the new workstation. Using: Windows XP Pro, Outlook 2007, Google Apps. Anyone run into this and find a solution?

  • Slowness of Netbeans Platform Apps - how to mitigate?

    Hi, We are developing a commerical application (pretty complex) in java using Netbeans IDE. We have 2 options in netbeans to create it- 1. Develop Java desktop app 2. Netbeans Platform app We have requirement that application startup and response times should be very very fast, should be modular etc. We did Proof of Technology by creating apps using both approaches mentioned above. We found Netbeans platform apps are very slow during startup and during screen navigation compared to pure Swing based desktop apps. We tried to implement suggestions provided at http://wiki.netbeans.org/Category:Performance:FAQ and in other blogs and forums to improve on speed of the app but were not successful. We feel for creating a complex desktop app Netbeans platform app would be better suited, but its not meeting our performance requirements (startup and response times, memory footprints, CPU usage guidelines etc). Can any one guide us on how to mitigate our problem of improving performance of Netbeans Platforms apps? Thanks in advance for your help. -bhan

    I have a site with index.php in the root folder, images in /img , and overview.php in /content . I have a sidebar.php file that is included in both index.php and overview.php . How should I refer to /img/image.gif if I include a link in each file? The location of image.gif changes relative to the location of the file that references it. Using /img/image.gif in sidebar.php will work in index.php, but it fails for the file located at /content/overview.php. The only solution that I can see is to either include a seperate sidebar.php in each subdirectory, or include an /img directory in every sub-directory. The best suggestion that I can find is to use the <base html tag as suggested here: Change relative link paths for included content in PHP However, in the same link, SamGoody suggests that the <base tag "is no longer properly supported in Internet Explorer, since version 7." I'd like some insight on the matter before committing to a course of action. Thanks.     Hi! I'm on the creator side of iPhone apps so I'd like to read some of the reviews for our apps. However, because I'm German and don't have a US bank account, iTunes only shows me the German reviews. How can I see the US ones too? Trying to switch the account in my iTunes, Apple warns me that I need a US bank account, and that I have ongoing TV series subscriptions that can't be cancelled yet... and only offers a Cancel button.

    Here is my MVC Controller and everything is fine: private UnitOfWork UOW; public InventoryController() { UOW = new UnitOfWork(); } // GET: /Inventory/ public ActionResult Index() { var products = UOW.ProductRepository.GetAll().ToList(); return View(products); } Same method call in API Controller gives me an Http 500 Error: private UnitOfWork _unitOfWork; public TestController() { _unitOfWork = new UnitOfWork(); } public IEnumerable<Product> Get() { var products = _unitOfWork.ProductRepository.GetAll().ToList(); return products; } Debugging shows that indeed there is data being returned in both controllers' UOW calls. I then added a customer configuration in Global: public static void CustomizeConfig(HttpConfiguration config) { config.Formatters.Remove(config.Formatters.XmlFormatter); var json = config.Formatters.JsonFormatter; json.SerializerSettings.ContractResolver = new CamelCasePropertyNamesContractResolver(); } I am still receiving an Http 500 in API Controller ONLY and at a loss as to why. Any ideas? UPDATE: It appears using lazy loading caused the problem. When I set the associated properties to NON-VIRTUAL the Test API provided the necessary JSON string. However, whereas before I had the Vendor class included, I only have VendorId. I really wanted to included the associated classes. Any ideas? I know there are alot of smart people out there. Anyone?

Assuming that the service is scarcely used, does anyone know how many cpu hours that would eat up in a month just by sitting there and running? I understand that this is slightly impractical but I am trying to figure out what the cost of entry is to deploy an application on this platform (as compared to GAE).
