  • Problems with Firefox and roaming profiles

    On our network, when the user is logged on a PC and then tries to login on his laptop he is getting this error: " Windows cannot copy "..\%username%\Application Data\firefox\profiles....\parent.lock file to the local C:..." I have tried deleting the profiles and also uninstalled firefox, but nothing seems to be resolving the problem. Any ideas ?

  • long access times and errors in iis application

    I am having an issue with an IIS application (details of environment at the end of the message). The web site works great most of the time and I cannot reproduce any error in our test system. On the live system however with on averare of 5-15 requests per second I have a problem with that some requests (about 0.05%) will take over 300 seconds to complete. The other requests complete withing 5-10 seconds. It seem like if all the errornous requests end up with a Timer_EntityBody error in the error log. I have never seen this as an end user but I guess that they will receive some kind of error message. I am trying to find out what can be causing this errornous behaviour. Any ideas are welcome. I have read something about that there can be an MTU issue if ICMP and MTU protocols are blocked in the firewall. Does that sound reasonable? I have also read about updating to IIS 7 should do the trick. Does it sound reasonable? I think that the problem has another cause but I have no idea of what. I have tried running hte perormance monitor, monitoring for database locks and active transaction counts. I can see some of these in the perfmon log for the MSSQL server (another machine) for example: Active transactions is sometimes peaking and sometimes for long periods Lock waits per seconds is sometimes peaking Transactions per second is sometimes peaking Page IO Latch wait is sometimes peaking Lock wait time (ms) is sometimes peaking But I cannot see that any of these correlate to the errors in the IIS error log. On the IIS server machine I can also see with perfmon that some values peak a few times during a day: Request execution time Avg disk queue length I can neither see that any of these correlate to the errors in the IIS error log.   • C# WPF application is using too much memory while GC.GetTotalMemory() is low

    I wrote little WPF application with 2 threads - main thread is GUI thread and another thread is worker. App has one WPF form with some controls. There is a button, allowing to select directory. After selecting directory, application scans for .jpg files in that directory and checks if their thumbnails are in hashtable. if they are, it does nothing. else it's adding their full filenames to queue for worker. Worker is taking filenames from this queue, loading JPEG images (using WPF's JpegBitmapDecoder and BitmapFrame), making thumbnails of them (using WPF's TransformedBitmap) and adding them to hashtable. Everything works fine, except memory consumption by this application when making thumbnails for big images (like 5000x5000 pixels). I've added textboxes on my form to show memory consumption (GC.GetTotalMemory() and Process.GetCurrentProcess().PrivateMemorySize64) and was very surprised, cuz GC.GetTotalMemory() stays close to 1-2 Mbytes, while private memory size constantly grows, especially when loading new image (~ +100Mb per image). Even after loading all images, making thumbnails of them and freeing original images, private memory size stays at ~700-800Mbytes. My VirtualBox is limited to 512Mb of physical memory and Windows in VirtualBox starts to swap alot to handle this huge memory consumption. I guess I'm doing something wrong, but I don't know how to investigate this problem, cuz according to GC, allocated memory size is very low.     I own a HP HDx16-1140US laptop. I bumped the right corner of my laptop against a door and it caused the plastic piece protecting the USB port, the laptop lock, and the AC port to come off. It looks like it would be an easy repair, but I want to make sure that using super glue won't damage the case or the ports. In the event I can not use it, what would be a good alternative?     Hello, I modified today max_execution_time in php.ini, when I restarted the server, I get this error : Stopping httpd: [FAILED] Starting httpd: (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80 (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80 no listening sockets available, shutting down Unable to open logs I killed httpd proc : killall httpd, and started it fine, but the I can't open any web site on the server. service httpd status OUTPUT : httpd dead but subsys locked I removed httpd file from /var/lock/subsys/ :S Same problem. Please Help!

  • TableView Cells Use Whole Screen Height

    I read through this tutorial Appcelerator: Using JSON to Build a Twitter Client and attempted to create my own simple application to interact with a Jetty server I setup running some Spring code. I basically call a get http request that gives me a bunch of contacts in JSON format. I then populate several rows with my JSON data and try to build a TableView. All of that works, however, my tableView rows take up the whole screen. Each row is one screen. I can scroll up and down and see all my data, but I'm trying to figure out what's wrong in my styling that's making the cells use the whole screen. My CSS is not great, so any help is appreciated.   • EC2 Filesystem / Files stored on the wrong partiton after launching new instance from AMI

    Today I set up a new EC2 Instance from and AMI I created from an older EC2 instance. When I launched the new instance I took the AMI that was on a small instance and launched with a medium instance. From what I can tell this is pretty standard stuff. But here's the stang part. According to AWS these are the differences Small Instance (Default) 1.7 GB of memory, 1 EC2 Compute Unit (1 virtual core with 1 EC2 Compute Unit), 160 GB of local instance storage, 32-bit or 64-bit platform Medium Instance 3.75 GB of memory, 2 EC2 Compute Units (1 virtual core with 2 EC2 Compute Units each), 410 GB of local instance storage, 32-bit or 64-bit platform Okay now here's where I'm having an issue. I when I log into the new bigger instance it still reports only having 1.7 GB of ram. The other strange part is that all my old partitions are still their in the same configurations. I see a new larger partition /mnt which is essential empty. Move all my website files to /mnt and have the web server point to that. Any suggestions?   • The weirdest css issue I have ever seen

    Below I have 2 css codes for a div, please note that the first one does not even have a div on the page or ANYTHING with it's name on it. I can also rename it to anything. Now where the weird part comes in. The second bit of code below has a width of 520px, the only way that the div on the page will be 520px is if I leave the css code thats above that one, the 1st one with no existing div on the page HAS to be on the page for the second css code to work, At first I thought it has to be a browser caching issue, so I clear my cache and that does nothing, I then try 2 other browsers and they all have the same result. I add the 1st bit of code into the page and the second bit works, I take the first bit away and the second bit does not work.     Hi I am using a very simple JavaFx client to upload files. I read the file in chunks of 1 MB (using Byte Buffer) and upload using multi part POST to a PHP script. I want to update the progress bar of my client to show progress after each chunk is uploaded. The calculations for upload progress look correct but the progress bar is not updated. I am using bind keyword. I am no JavaFx expert and I am hoping some one can point out my mistake.   • OSX's built-in VNC server disconnects me randomly, but frequently

    I've been using OSX's VNC service to connect remotely from a Windows XP box, via TightVNC. Everything seems to work normally, except that frequently - anywhere from ten seconds to ten minutes - the connection locks up entirely, without any sort of error message. The only solution is to reconnect and wait for it to lock up again. How can this be fixed permanently?

If a user logs and then lock his session, the screensaver will start eventually but if no user are logged the login screen will never start the screensaver.     Create a Database Model Diagram Reverse Engineer a database (Database Tab, Reverse Engineer). Once the diagram is created, how do you resize the tables? I've tried: Enable Developer mode, Choose Protection, Choose None. When I do that, I'm given the impression that I should be able to resize a given table but I cannot actually do it. Enable Developer mode, right-click on a table, Choose Show ShapeSheet, Set all Lock values in the Protection section to 0.

    I am having issues with MySQL all of the sudden today. Details: OS: CentOS release 5.7 Server type: Parallels virtuozzo container running on mediatemple DV 4.0 package Average total memory usage: <500mb Total memory usage allowed: 1gb (part of shared pool for emergency only, users are only guaranteed 500mb) Processor: 1ghz Main database sizes with most usage: 275mb & 107mb server stack: nginx 1.0.10, mysql 5.1.54, php 5.3.8 with php-fpm innodb_buffer_pool_size=100M php-fpm max children: 5 Webapps: custom php-based sites, magento & drupal slow query timeout is set to 1 second Steps I completed towards diagnosis: Cannot restart container yet - I will try later tonight when our domestic traffic has dropped Enabled mysql and php-fpm slowlog. Found functions that did DB queries in php-fpm slowlog were taking over 1s to complete at times Found some simple queries in mysql slowlog taking well over 1s to complete that should take less than 1s. Most interesting - execution time seems to spike at times. A query will take .2s a couple times, then one time it will take 8s to run the same query. These results were verified by running raw SQL queries through mysql command line. Top does not reveal anything too interesting Only resource related thing i can see is load averages much higher than normal Up until today, mysql has been fine, there have been no major changes to the db since yesterday. Sometimes things are so bad, I am seeing bad gateway errors after 60s of execution time. Innodb is doing on average 300-1400 reads/sec. Mysql is doing 3-10 queries/sec slow query count in 2 hours uptime is 171 (with slow timeout at 1 second) Tried restarting mysql, nginx, php-fpm multiple times For example: UPDATE `catalogsearch_query` SET `query_text` = 'EW 90', `num_results` = '7532', `popularity` = '99180', `redirect` = NULL, `synonym_for` = NULL, `store_id` = '1', `display_in_terms` = '1', `is_active` = '1', `is_processed` = '1', `updated_at` = '2012-05-08 21:38:31' WHERE (query_id='31'); This query took 17sec to complete one time, rest of the time around .079 sec. But varies, sometimes 1sec, sometimes .004 sec. This is running the same query, over and over with a couple seconds time in between each. Most tables are innodb, and sometimes I noticed the lock time taking 90% of the query execution time, but most of the time lock time is insignificant. Any idea what's going on here?

  • NTPD issue - syncs then slowly loses ground

    RHEL 5 workstation. Has been running smoothly for years. I did a 'pup' recently and followed with a nice, cleansing reboot. Afterwards the system had some startup issues: namely MySQL refused to start. It just went "...." for 5-10 minutes before I did another boot and skipped that step (using 'interactive'). This was the only service that didn't wan't to start normally. So now that the system is booted I've found that it doesn't want to stay in sync with the NTP master and after 48 hours is refusing any SSH other than root. NTPD: this service starts normally and gets a lock on 4 servers. Almost immediately it starts to lose ground and now (after 3 days) is almost 40 hours behind. If I stop/start the service it gets the lock, resets the system clock and starts losing ground again. The 'hwclock' is set properly and maintains its time. Login: when I (re)start the ntp server I am able to login normally. I assume this problem is due to losing sync with LDAP. This appears to be verified by LDAP errors in /var/log/messages. Suggestions on where to look? ADDENDA: Tried deleting the 'drift' file.   • Black screen when switching users on HP laptop (running vista)

    Vista machine: When I switch users I get a black screen for 30+ seconds. Doesn't seem to matter who is logged in. Delay happens when I click "switch user" but not when I lock the screen and log back in as same user. Specs: Windows Vista 64-bit; HP pavilion dv9710t laptop; 17" screen (best guess is that it has something to do with display settings, not sure)

    I have an ASP.NET web application with an Oracle back end. The worker process recycling in IIS is set for 40 minutes, and when that occurs, the Oracle server sets a mutex lock while it cleans up all of its open connections. During this cleanup (up to a few minutes in duration), all DB requests get a timeout. Is there a way for IIS to notify Oracle that a worker process recycle is about to occur, so Oracle can be smarter about how it cleans up its resources without locking the entire database?

    Hi, I'd like to know how to build an SMTP multipart message in the correct order so that it will render correctly on the iPhone mail client (rendering correctly in GMail). I'm using Javamail to build up an email containing the following parts: A body part with content type "text/html; UTF-8" An embedded image attachment. A file attachment I am sending the mail via GMail SMTP (via SSL) and the mail is sent and rendered correctly using a GMail account, however, the mail does not render correctly on the iPhone mail client. On the iPhone mail client, the image is rendered before the "Before Image" text when it should be rendered afterwards. After the "Before Image" text there is an icon with a question mark (I assume it means it couldn't find the referenced CID). I'm not sure if this is a limitation of the iPhone mail client or a bug in my mail sending code (I strongly assume the latter). I think that perhaps the headers on my parts might by incorrect or perhaps I am providing the multiparts in the wrong order.
