• JQuery/JavaScript div tag "containment" approach/algorithm?

  Background: I've created an online circuit design application where div tags are containers that contain smaller div containers and so forth. Question: For any particular div tag I need to quickly identify if it contains other div tags (that may in turn contain other div tags). I've searched JQuery and I don't see any built-in routine for this. Does anyone know of an algorithm that's quicker than O(n^2)? Seems like I have to walk the list of div tags in an outer loop (n) and have an inner loop (another n) to compare against all other div tags and do a "containment test" (position, width, height), building a list of contained div tags. That's n-squared. Then I have to build a list of all nested div tags by concatenating contained lists. So the total would be O(n^2)+n. There must be a better way?

• Problem with debug watch in Visual Studio with yield return enumerator methods

  I have a method which returns an IEnumerable<> which it builds up using the yield return syntax: public IEnumerable<ValidationError> Validate(User user) { if (String.IsNullOrEmpty(user.Name)) { yield return new ValidationError("Name", ValidationErrorType.Required); } [...] yield break; } If I put a breakpoint in the method, I can step over each line, but if I try to use the Watch or Immediate windows to view the value of a variable I get this error: Cannot access a non-static member of outer type '[class name].Validate' via nested type '[class name]' Does anyone know why this is and how I can get around it?

• Enumerating all combinations of lists of different types

  Given two IEnumberables of different types, what is the best practice (considering readability and maintainability) for iterating over both lists to perform an action on all possible combinations? My initial solution was to use nested foreach loops, iterating over the first IEnumerable, and then within that loop, iterating over the second IEnumerable and passing the value from the outer and the current loop into the target method. Eg.: enum ParamOne { First, Second, Etc } List<int> paramTwo = new List<int>() { 1, 2, 3 }; void LoopExample() { foreach (ParamOne alpha in Enum.GetValues(typeof(ParamOne))) { foreach (int beta in paramTwo) { DoSomething(alpha, beta); } } } I tried to restructure it with LINQ, but ended up with something that had no obvious advantages and seemed less intuitive. A search here shows lots of questions about nesting foreachs to iterate over child properties, but I couldn't find anything about iterating over two distinct lists.

• deleting and reusing a temp table in a stored precedure

What this sp is doing is joining 12 tables and get the data and insert it into another table. it has 7 left outer joins and 4 inner joins.And returns one row of data.   Hello, In my application I the next task that has not already been done by a user. I have Three models, A Book that has many Tasks and then I have a User that has has and belongs to many tasks. The table tasks_users table contains all completed tasks so I need to write a complex query to find the next task to perform. • How do I list all non-system stored procedures?

  I want to create a query to list of all user defined stored procedures, excluding the ones that are system stored procedures, considering that: Checking the name like "sp_" doesn't work because there are user stored procedures that start with "sp_". Checking the property is_ms_shipped doesn't work because there are system stored procedures that have that flag = 0, for example: sp_alterdiagram (it is not MSShipped but appears under System Stored Procedures in SQL Server Management Studio). There must be a property, or a flag somewhere since you can see the "System Stored Procedures" in a separate folder in SQL 2005. Does anyone know?   I'm building an android application, which has a list view, and in the list view, a click listener, containing an onItemClick method. So I have something like this: public class myList extends ListActivity { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { getListView().setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() { public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int position, long id) { /* Do something*/ } } } Normally, this works fine. However, many times I find myself needing too preform an application using the outer class as a context. thusfar, I've used: parent.getContext(); to do this, but I would like to know, is that a bad idea? I can't really call: super because it's not really a subclass, just an embedded one. So is there any better way, or is that considered cosure? Also, if it is the right way, what should I do if the embedded method doesn't have a parameter to get the outside class? Thank you.

  I got a "Project A" in repository. But in that project I'm using a library, which is hosted on Google Code. There is my question: is there any way, to have that library files "hooked" to Google Code SVN, and simultaneously my project in my repo (it's parent to that library), so I can commit library files into my repository when I decide, that outer project revision is ok? I've tried to do checkout in the library folder, files were downloaded from Google's Code repository. But I that case wasn't able to add them to my repository - they weren't visible in "Add" window.

  Let's say we have this code (forget about prototypes for a moment): function A(){ var foo = 1; this.method = function(){ return foo; } } var a = new A(); is the inner function recompiled each time the function A is run? Or is it better (and why) to do it like this: function method = function(){ return this.foo; } function A(){ this.foo = 1; this.method = method; } var a = new A(); Or are the javascript engines smart enough not to create a new 'method' function every time? Specifically Google's v8 and node.js. Also, any general recommendations on when to use which technique are welcome. In my specific example, it really suits me to use the first example, but I know thath the outer function will be instantiated many times.

I want to copy one user's settings to another. userid trait onoff ------ ----- ----- 1 1 on 1 2 on 1 3 on 1 4 on 2 1 off 2 2 off 2 3 off 2 4 off So I want to copy the onoff values from user 1 to 2, so that user2 has everything on when I'm done. update table set onoff = (select onoff from table where userid=1) where userid=2 that's the basic idea, but obviously doesn't work. I imagine I want the server to think in terms of a correlated subquery, but the outer part isn't a query, it's an update. Is this even possible in one step?

• ssrs: one static row matrix, multiple columns will not filter out nulls

  Using a ssrs 2005 matrix client side. I want to list the multiple addresses of one person, hence one row, multiple columns. The Column field is =Fields!StreetName.Value. The data details field is =First(Fields!StreetPrefix.Value) & " " & First(Fields!StreetName.Value). The datasource has a row for each address; however, some rows will have nulls since the datasource is composed of outer joins. The column grouping works, but the first column is always empty, (first 2 rows of datasource are null) addresses appear only after the empty column. I want to filter out nulls on the matrix, but its like the filter is ignored. I have also tried having the dataset return an empty string for a null streetname and setting the filter to =Fields!StreetName.Value != ="" but no difference. What am I missing?

But the scroll bars appear on top of the inner div (blocking its contents). Works fine in firefox and IE. I need the inner div to be positioned absolutely. Someone help please..

  I have a simple, uncorrelated subquery that performs very poorly on SQL Server. I'm not very experienced at reading execution plans, but it looks like the inner query is being executed once for every row in the outer query, even though the results are the same each time. What can I do to tell SQL Server to execute the inner query only once?   Hi. I have a table with some columns. Something like this: tr1td1 one remove button tr1td2 one remove button ... The table has the size of the div#outer When I click remove button I remove with jquery the entire column . In Firefox everything's fine the table's columns resize to fill the div but in Internet Explorer the table's columns remain just as they are. It's like the browser doesn't refresh the css style. Because if I refresh the page the table looks just as it shoud be. Any ideas?

• Can I pass a string variable into an <a href> tag for a website link?

  I am somewhat new to web developing, so I am trying to learn along the way. I have a div that is 500 x 500. Inside of that div I have two divs that are each 250x500. So my outer div is filled up with the two inner divs. I have it setup so that when I click on the first div (the left one) a java script is called, and a prompt pop up box asks for a website URL which is then stored inside of a string variable. How can I make it so that the second div (the right one) takes the string variable from the alert box from the left div and puts it into an a href tag so that I can link to the website from the right div? Can a a href tag accept a value from a variable for its link? Maybe I am going about this all wrong, is there a better way I should be approaching this? Any help is appreciated!!

  Hi, My current target is to give users the chance to download CSV files from the admin site of my application. I successfully managed to create an additional column in the model's list view this way: def doc_link(self): return '<a href="files/%s">%s</a>' % (self.output, self.output) doc_link.allow_tags = True This shows the file name and creates the link, but sadly - because it's inside my 'searches' view - it has an URL: my_site/my_app/searches/files/13.csv. This is my problem, I would like to have my files stored in the admin media directory, like this: http://my_site/media/files/13.csv Does somebody know how to give url which points "outer" from the model's directory? Maybe somehow tell Django to use the ADMIN_MEDIA_PREFIX in the link? I'd really appreciate any help, thanks!

Finally 1 Exiting out of the program I do not understand why IOException is caught by the outer catch block. I would appreciate if anyone can explain this, especially by citing stack unwinding process
