• Subprocess with variables & Command from different class

  source: http://pastebin.com/utL7Ebeq My thinking is that if i run from controller class "main" it will allow me to take the "data" from Class "model", def "filename". It doesn't seem to work. As you can see below what i mean class Controller: def __init__(self): self.model = Model() self.view = View() def main(self): data = self.model.filename() self.view.tcpdump(data) class View: def tcpdump(self, command): subprocess.call(command.split(), shell=False) When i run my code i get this error: subprocess.call(command.split(), shell=False) AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'split' My guess means that its not picking up command (look at source for reference) or that its not getting command with variables. But i know the error when variables are not being picked up so i don't think it is that. My question is, from what i have thus far, how do i from "class view" grab "command" for my subprocesses to run. Thanks~ John Riselvato

• Obj-c Turning long string into multidimensional array

  I have a long NSString, something like "t00010000t00020000t00030000" and so on. I need to split that up into each "t0001000". I'm using... NSArray *tileData = [[GameP objectForKey:@"map"] componentsSeparatedByString:@"t"]; And it splits it up, but the "t" is missing, which I need (although I think I could append it back on). The other way I guess would be to split it up by counting 8 char's, although not sure how to do that. But ideally I need it split into a [][] type array so I can get to each bit with something like... NSString tile = [[tileData objectAtIndex:i] objectAtIndex:j]]; I'm new to obj-c so thanks for any help.

  Hi all, I have a string that if it is longer than lets say 10 words, I want to split it into two parts. The second part will be included else-where after a 'more' link. The string will hold html tags too though.   Let's say I have a string in an RTL language such as Arabic with some English chucked in: string s = "Test:?????;?????;?????;a;b" Notice there are semicolons in the string. When I use the Split command like string[] spl = s.Split(';');, then some of the strings are saved in reverse order. This is what happens: ??Test:????? ????? ????? a b The above is out of order compared to the original. Instead, I expect to get this: ?Test: ????? ????? ????? a b I'm prepared to write my own split function. However, the chars in the string also parse in reverse order, so I'm back to square one. I just want to go through each character as it's shown on the screen.

  I have the following HTML snippet <tr> <td class="1">...</td> <td class="2">...</td> <td class="3">...</td> <td class="4">...</td> </tr> etc... I basically have N rows, and each row contains 4 TD's each with a unique class. I would like a simple way to split out all the rows and TD's by class so I can choose what data I want to use. I expect the easiest way to achieve this would be regex (maybe two). One to split up the TR's then another to split up the TDs (by class preferably) Thanks

  I spent like three hours trying to understant how does "(?<!^)(?=[A-Z])" works to split at tring according to capital letters i.e. string[] s = Regex.Split("TheWorldWithoutStrangers", "(?<!^)(?=[A-Z])"); How does it work !! I do understand what is the meaning of each char in the above expression, but I do not get how does it work together. why "(? < !^)([A-Z])" doesnot work ? it means that whenever you find a captial letter that is not after a new line, then split, am I right ?

  I'm trying to install my own git server with these instructions. http://cisight.com/how-to-setup-git-server-using-gitolite-in-ubuntu-11-10-oneiric/ But I am get stuck at this point. git clone --verbose [email protected]:testing.git Cloning into 'testing'... • Hardware asset management systems

  I need to track a bunch of specialized testing tools, They are hardware devices used for testing other equipement. Each device has a serial number and is sent out for use in testing. Occasionally they break and have to be sent to the manufacture for repair. I'm looking for an open source application (preferably a webapp) to help manage them. Right now we're using Excel and it's not scaling as we get more tools. They aren't computers so all the standard IT asset management systems don't really fit the bill. I found h-harmony, but that project seems dead?

• Mobile Phone Browser Emulators/Simulators

  I work in QA in a .NET shop and recently part of my testing process has started to involve testing our company website on mobile devices. At least one of our techs uses an HTC Desire. After tons of googling I still can't find a good online emulator for testing websites on different types of mobile devices. Is anyone aware of a website that I can test across multiple mobile platforms? Or even an online HTC or Blackberry browser emulator? I've found an iphone/opera mini simulator, but that's about it. Also, I realize there are a lot of SDK's that include emulators, but I'd rather not have to set up an entire SDK just to use an emulator.

• Asterisk does not recognise DTMF tones from mobile phones

  We have an Asterisk 1.8.7.0 (the Elastix derivative) switchboard. Every since a month ago, seemingly out of the blue, the switchboard does not recognise DTMF tones any more from mobile phones. Testing the switchboard using 7777 works. Testing the switchboard from a normal phones works. Testing the switchboard from a mobile phone fails. Looking at the log file I can't see anything. I used 'asterisk -rvvvv' and 'tail -f /var/log/asterisk/full' to see the live output and scan the logs. I guess I don't see anything because it's simply not recognising the DTMF tones. I did brief research and found an old setting for SIP phones, 'rfc2833compensate=yes', and tried adding this to 'sip_general_custom.conf'. After that I did 'core restart when convenient' but that didn't make any difference. Could anyone give me some additional troubleshooting steps?

Testing the SSL certificate to make sure it's valid. The SSL certificate failed one or more certificate validation checks. Test Steps Validating the certificate name. Certificate name validation failed. Tell me more about this issue and how to resolve it Additional Details Host name mail.x.com doesn't match any name found on the server certificate CN=xxxxxx. I get common error in that: /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6: version 'GLIBCXX_3.4.15' not found. ACLs that control which users/groups may add/remove/promote packages. Automatically re-sign packages as they move repo to repo (since the GPG key for "stable" should be different than "unstable") Automatically run "createrepo" to update repodata when needed. • Netcat UDP File Transfer Between Two Servers Times Out?

  I'm testing file transfer speeds between two Red Hat servers that are connected to the same switch within the data center and I decided to use netcat to eliminate protocol overhead as much as possible. Testing in TCP mode went well and I was wondering how UDP might fare. On my receiving (client) end, I ran this: nc -u -l 11225 -v > myfile.out And then on the sending (server) end I ran the following: cat myfile.out | nc -u myserver.foo.zzz.com 11225 -v The file I'm testing with is 38 GB but the transfer seems to stop at around 15 GB (one time at 14.9, another at 15.6). I've tested by adding a "-w 5000" just in case it's timing out but no joy. Adding the -v doesn't show anything except acknowledging that the connection occurred. No errors. So - any suggestions as to why would the transfer cease?

  I'm using Debian Testing together with the Deb Multimedia (previously Debian Multimedia) repository for testing. I want to reduce the priority of the deb-multimedia packages so it only installs certain packages. I've tried with: Package: * Pin: release o="Unofficial Multimedia Packages" Pin-Priority: 10 and Package: * Pin: origin "mirror.home-dn.net" Pin-Priority: 10 But neither works, the packages still have the default priority (500). The Release file from the repository looks like this: Archive: testing Version: None Component: main Origin: Unofficial Multimedia Packages Label: Unofficial Multimedia Packages Architecture: amd64 What am I doing wrong? Edit: It worked when I used the Version information instead: Package: * Pin: release v=None Pin-Priority: 10 But I still don't know the reason the other filters didn't work.

• jQuery DataTables server side processing and ASP.Net

  I'm trying to use the server side functionality of the jQuery Datatables plugin with ASP.Net. The ajax request is returning valid JSON, but nothing is showing up in the table. I originally had problems with the data I was sending in the ajax request. I was getting a "Invalid JSON primative" error. I discovered that the data needs to be in a string instead of JSON serialized, as described in this post: http://encosia.com/2008/06/05/3-mistakes-to-avoid-when-using-jquery-with-aspnet-ajax/. I wasn't quite sure how to fix that, so I tried adding this in the ajax request: "data": "{'sEcho': '" + aoData.sEcho + "'}" If the aboves eventually works I'll add the other parameters later. Right now I'm just trying to get something to show up in my table. The returning JSON looks ok and validates, but the sEcho in the post is undefined, and I think thats why no data is being loaded into the table. So, what am I doing wrong? Am I even on the right track or am I being stupid? Does anyone ran into this before or have any suggestions? • New Trusted Status awarded to first Mobile Java Developer

• Sucky MSTest and the "WaitAll for multiple handles on a STA thread is not supported" Error

  If you are doing any multi-threading and are using MSTest, you will probably run across this error. For some reason, MSTest by default runs in STA threading mode. WTF, Microsoft! Why so stuck in the old COM world?  When I run the same test using NUnit, I don't have this problem. Unfortunately, my company has chosen MSTest, so I have a lot of testing problems. NUnit is so much better, IMO. After determining that I wasn't referencing any unmanaged code that would flip the thread into STA, which can also cause this error, the only thing left was the testing suite I was using. I dug around a little and found this obscure setting for the Test Run Config settings file that you can't set using its interface. You have to open it up as a text file and add the following setting:  <ExecutionThread apartmentState="MTA" /> This didn't break any other tests, so I'm not sure why it's not the default, or why there is nothing in the test run configuration app to change this setting. • Professional Scrum Developer (.NET) Training in London

I will be teaching this course along side Adam and it is a fantastic experience. You are split into teams and go head-to-head to deliver units of potentially shippable work in four two hour sprints. The Professional Scrum Developer course is the only course endorsed by both Microsoft and Ken Schwaber and they have worked together very effectively in brining this course to fruition. This course is the brain child of Richard Hundhausen, a Microsoft Regional Director, and both Adam and I attending the Trainer Prep in Sydney when he was there earlier this year. Professional Scrum Developer course is a unique and intensive five-day experience for software developers. The bulk of the course will be spent working as a team on a case study application delivering increments of new functionality in mini-sprints. Here is the week at a glance: Monday morning and most of the day Friday will be spent with the computers powered off, so you can focus on sharpening your game of Scrum and avoiding the common pitfalls when implementing it. The Sprints Timeboxing is a critical concept in Scrum as well as in this course. We expect each team and student to understand and obey all of the timeboxes. The timebox duration will always be clearly displayed during each activity. Expect the instructor to enforce it. If you have development-related questions or get stuck, your partner or team should be your first level of support. Module 1: INTRODUCTION This module provides a chance for the attendees to get to know the instructors as well as each other. The Professional Scrum Developer program, as well as the day by day agenda, will be explained. Finally, the Scrum team will be selected and assembled so that the forming, storming, norming, and performing can begin. The team will learn the mapping between the Scrum concepts and how they are implemented in the tool. After connecting to the shared Team Foundation Server, the team members will then return to the simulation – this time using Visual Studio to manage their product development. The team will then define the quality attributes of the project and their definition of “done.” The legacy application code will be downloaded, built, and explored, so that any bugs can be discovered and reported. Module 7: EMERGENT ARCHITECTURE This module introduces the architectural practices and tools a team can use to develop a valid design on which to develop new functionality. The teams will learn how Scrum supports good architecture and design practices. After the discussion, the teams will be presented with the product owner’s prioritized backlog so that they may select and commit to the functionality they can deliver in this sprint. Refactoring will also be defined and demonstrated in combination with Visual Studio’s Test Impact Analysis to efficiently re-run just those tests which were impacted by refactoring. By using the database projects in Visual Studio 2010, the database developers can join the rest of the team. The students will see how to apply Agile database techniques within Visual Studio to support the SQL Server 2005/2008/2008R2 development lifecycle. Agile database development Visual Studio database projects Importing schema and scripts Building and deploying Generating data Unit testing SPRINT 3 Retrospective Module 10: SHIP IT Teams need to know that just because they like the functionality doesn’t mean the Product Owner will. This module revisits acceptance criteria as it pertains to acceptance testing. By refining acceptance criteria into manual test steps, team members can execute the tests, recording the results and reporting bugs in a number of ways. Manual tests will be defined and executed using the Microsoft Test Manager tool. As the Sprint completes and an increment of functionality is delivered, the team will also learn why and when they should create a branch of the codeline. Ideally, your actual software development team will attend the training to ensure that all necessary skills are covered. However, if you wish to attend an open enrolment course alone or with just a couple of colleagues, realize that you may be placed on a team with other attendees. The instructor will do his or her best to ensure that each team is cross-functional to tackle the case study, but there are no guarantees. You may be required to try a new role, learn a new skill, or pair with somebody unfamiliar to you. This is just good Scrum! Who should NOT take this course? • ADF EMG Task Flow Tester Now Available!

  Testing ADF applications has become much easier as of today. At the ADF EMG day at Oracle Open World a new tool was announced, the ADF EMG Task Flow Tester.  The ADF EMG Task Flow Tester is a web-based testing tool for ADF bounded task flows. It supports testing of task flows that use pages as well as task flows using page fragments. A sophisticated mechanism to specify task flow input parameters is provided. A set of task flow input parameters and run options can be saved as a task flow testcase. Task flows and their testcases can be exported to XML and imported from XML.      This ADF EMG task Flow Tester can help you in a number of ways: It allows you to unit test your task flows in complete isolation, ruling out dependencies with other task flows when finding and investigating issues. It allows you to quickly test various combinations of task flow input parameter without redeploying the application It keeps your application cleaner (and saves time) as you no longer need to create separate test pages for each and every bounded task flow with page fragments that you used to create before. You can use the tester to simulate a call to your task flow so you can easily test task flow return values and the return navigation outcome.
