  • eclipse tomcat debug mode slow - pegs cpu

    - by andersonbd1
Running Tomcat through eclipse works fine in non-debug mode, but not in debug mode. When I try to start the Tomcat server in debug mode, the console output looks fine for a while, but then starts slowing down and eventually just stops, pegging the cpu at 100%. I don't think it's relevant, but just in case - here's the console output right about when it starts slowing down and eventually stopping (by stopping I mean no more console output, but still 100% cpu). 2009-09-02 14:35:30,859 INFO NONE org.springframework.context.weaving.DefaultContextLoadTimeWeaver:72 - Found Spring's JVM agent for instrumentation 2009-09-02 14:35:49,562 INFO NONE org.springframework.beans.factory.support.DefaultListableBeanFactory:414 - Pre-instantiating singletons in org.springframework.beans.factory.support.DefaultListableBeanFactory@ed889d: defining beans [... 2009-09-02 14:37:31,031 INFO NONE org.springframework.orm.jpa.LocalContainerEntityManagerFactoryBean:221 - Building JPA container EntityManagerFactory for persistence unit ... I tried everything I could think of to fix it: cleanesd tomcat working directory restarted eclipse restarted Windows refreshed/cleaned all projects I first had this problem last week using eclipse ganymede. I had been running fine in debug-mode for several months prior to this issue. I didn't make any significant changes to our project that would cause this. Eventually, I upgraded to eclipse galileo which solved my problem. Now 2 days later, I'm having the same problem in galileo. Like I said it works fine in non-debug mode. Any help is much appreciated. I should add that other things work in debug mode - for instance junit tests, so it is something specific to tomcat.

  • Javascript html5 database transaction problem in loops

    - by Marek
I'm hittig my head on this and i will be glad for any help. I need to store in a database a context (a list of string ids) for another page. I open a page with a list of artworks and this page save into the database those artowrks ids. When i click on an artwork i open its webpage but i can access the database to know the context and refer to the next and prev artwork. This is my code to retrieve the contex: updateContext = function () { alert("updating context"); try { mydb.transaction( function(transaction) { transaction.executeSql("select artworks.number from artworks, collections where collections.id = artworks.section_id and collections.short_name in ('cro', 'cra', 'crp', 'crm');", [], contextDataHandler, errorHandler); }); } catch(e) { alert(e.message); } } the contextDatahandler function then iterates through the results and fill again the current_context table: contextDataHandler = function(transaction, results) { try { mydb.transaction( function(transaction) { transaction.executeSql("drop table current_context;", [], nullDataHandler, errorHandler); transaction.executeSql("create table current_context(id String);", [], nullDataHandler, errorHandler); } ) } catch(e) { alert(e.message); } var s = ""; for (var i=0; i < results.rows.length; i++) { var item = results.rows.item(0); s += item['number'] + " "; mydb.transaction( function(tx) { tx.executeSql("insert into current_context(id) values (?);", [item['number']]); } ) } alert(s); } the result is, i get the current_context table deleted, recreated, and filled, but all the rows are filled with the LAST artwork id. the query to retrieve the artworks ids works, so i think it's a transaction problem, but i cant figure out where. thanks for any help

  • iPhone Development - CLLocationManager vs. MapKit

    - by Mustafa
If i want to show userLocation on the map, and at the same time record the user's location, is it a good idea to add an observer to userLocation.location and record the locations, OR should i still use CLLocationManager for recording user location and use mapView.showUserLocation to show the user's current location (blue indicator)? I want to show the default blue indicator supported by the MapKit API. Also, here's a rough sample code: - (void)viewDidLoad { ... locationManager = [[CLLocationManager alloc] init]; locationManager.desiredAccuracy = kCLLocationAccuracyBest; locationManager.distanceFilter = DISTANCE_FILTER_VALUE; locationManager.delegate = self; [locationManager startUpdatingLocation]; myMapView.showUserLocation = YES; [myMapView addObserver:self forKeyPath:@"userLocation.location" options:0 context:nil]; ... } - (void)observeValueForKeyPath:(NSString *)keyPath ofObject:(id)object change:(NSDictionary *)change context:(void *)context { // Record the location information // ... } - (void)locationManager:(CLLocationManager *)manager didUpdateToLocation:(CLLocation *)newLocation fromLocation:(CLLocation *)oldLocation { NSLog(@"%s begins.", __FUNCTION__); // Make sure that the location returned has the desired accuracy if (newLocation.horizontalAccuracy <= manager.desiredAccuracy) return; // Record the location information // ... } Under the hood, i think MKMapView also uses CLLocationManager to get user's current location? So, will this create any problems because i believe both CLLocationManager and MapView will try to use same location services? Will there be any conflicts and lack of accurate/required or current data?

  • ASP.NET MVC 2.0 Validation and ErrorMessages

    - by Raj Aththanayake
I need to set the ErrorMessage property of the DataAnnotation's validation attribute in MVC 2.0. For example I should be able to pass an ID instead of the actual error message for the Model property, for example... [StringLength(2, ErrorMessage = "EmailContentID")] [DataType(DataType.EmailAddress)] public string Email { get; set; } Then use this ID ("EmailContentID") to retrieve some content(error message) from a another service e.g database. Then the error error message is displayed to the user instead of the ID. In order to do this I need to set the DataAnnotation validation attribute’s ErrorMessage property. It seems like a stright forward task by just overriding the DataAnnotationsModelValidatorProvider‘s protected override IEnumerable GetValidators(ModelMetadata metadata, ControllerContext context, IEnumerable attributes) However it is complicated now.... A. MVC DatannotationsModelValidator’s ErrorMessage property is readonly. So I cannot set anything here B. System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotationErrorMessage property(get and set) which is already set in MVC DatannotationsModelValidator so I cannot set it again. If I try to set it I get “The property cannot set more than once…” error message. public class CustomDataAnnotationProvider : DataAnnotationsModelValidatorProvider { protected override IEnumerable<ModelValidator> GetValidators(ModelMetadata metadata, ControllerContext context, IEnumerable<Attribute> attributes) { IEnumerable<ModelValidator> validators = base.GetValidators(metadata, context, attributes); foreach (ValidationAttribute validator in validators.OfType<ValidationAttribute>()) { messageId = validator.ErrorMessage; validator.ErrorMessage = "Error string from DB And" + messageId ; } //...... } } Can anyone please give me the right direction on this? Thanks in advance.

  • Problem adding Contact with new API

    - by Mike
Hello, I am trying to add a new contact to my contact list using the new ContactContract API via my application. I have the following method based on the Contact Manager example on android dev. private static void addContactCore(Context context, String accountType, String accountName, String name, String phoneNumber, int phoneType) throws RemoteException, OperationApplicationException { ArrayList<ContentProviderOperation> ops = new ArrayList<ContentProviderOperation>(); //Add contact type ops.add(ContentProviderOperation.newInsert(ContactsContract.RawContacts.CONTENT_URI) .withValue(ContactsContract.RawContacts.ACCOUNT_TYPE, accountType) .withValue(ContactsContract.RawContacts.ACCOUNT_NAME, accountName) .build()); //Add contact name ops.add(ContentProviderOperation.newInsert(ContactsContract.Data.CONTENT_URI) .withValueBackReference(ContactsContract.Data.RAW_CONTACT_ID, 0) .withValue(ContactsContract.Data.MIMETYPE, ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.StructuredName.CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE) .withValue(ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.StructuredName.DISPLAY_NAME, (!name.toLowerCase().equals("unavailable") && !name.equals("")) ? name : phoneNumber) .build()); //Add phone number ops.add(ContentProviderOperation.newInsert(ContactsContract.Data.CONTENT_URI) .withValueBackReference(ContactsContract.Data.RAW_CONTACT_ID, 0) .withValue(ContactsContract.Data.MIMETYPE, ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE) .withValue(ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.NUMBER, phoneNumber) .withValue(ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.TYPE, phoneType) .build()); //Add contact context.getContentResolver().applyBatch(ContactsContract.AUTHORITY, ops); } In one example I have the flowing values for the parameters. accountType:com.google accountName:(my google account email) name:Mike phoneNumber:5555555555 phoneType:3 The call to the function returns normally without any exception being thrown however the contact is no where to be found in the contact manager on my phone. There is also no contact with that information on my phone already. Does anyone have any insight into what I might be doing wrong?

  • Android's RelativeLayout Unit Test setup

i'm trying to write an unit test for my Android's RelativeLayout. Currently, my testcode setup is as follow: public class SampleRelativeLayoutTest extends AndroidTestCase { private ViewGroup testView; private ImageView icon; private TextView title; @Override protected void setUp() throws Exception { super.setUp(); // inflate the layout final Context context = getContext(); final LayoutInflater inflater = LayoutInflater.from(context); testView = (ViewGroup) inflater.inflate(R.layout.sample_layout, null); // manually measure and layout testView.measure(500, 500); testView.layout(0, 0, 500, 500); // init variables icon = (ImageView) testView.findViewById(R.id.icon); title = (TextView) testView.findViewById(R.id.title); } However, I encountered NullPointerException with the following stack trace java.lang.NullPointerException at android.widget.RelativeLayout.onMeasure(RelativeLayout.java:427) at android.view.View.measure(View.java:7964) at com.dqminh.test.view.SampleRelativeLayoutTest.setUp(SampleRelativeLayoutTest.java:33) at android.test.AndroidTestRunner.runTest(AndroidTestRunner.java:169) at android.test.AndroidTestRunner.runTest(AndroidTestRunner.java:154) at android.test.InstrumentationTestRunner.onStart(InstrumentationTestRunner.java:430) at android.app.Instrumentation$InstrumentationThread.run(Instrumentation.java:1447) What should I change in my setUp() code to make the test run properly ?

  • Accessing Yahoo realtime stock quotes

    - by DVK
There's a fairly easy way of retrieving 15-minute delayed quotes off of Yahoo! Finance web site ("quotes.csv" API). However, so far I was unable to find any info on how to access real-time quotes. The hang-ups with real-time quotes are: Only available to logged-in user No API Non-obvious how to scrape the info - I'm somewhat convinced they are placed on the page by some weird Ajax call. So I was wondering if anyone had managed to develop a publically available solution to retrieve real-time quotes for a stock from Yahoo! Finance. Notes: Implementation language/framework need is flexible but Perl or Excel is highly preferred. Assume that security is not an issue - I'm willing to supply yahoo userid and pasword, even in cleartext. I'm not 100% hung up on Yahoo - they are merely the only provider of free realtime stock quotes I'm familiar with. if the same thing can be done with Google Finance, I'd be just as happy. This is for a personal project, so scalability/fault tolerance/etc... are not important. I'm looking for a "do the whole retrieval" library ideally, but if I'm pointed to partial solutions (e.g. how to retrieve info from Yahoo's user-logged-in pages; how to scrape realtime quotes from Yahoo's page) I can fill in the blanks. I saw Finance::YahooQuote but it does not seem to allow you to supply log-in information and appears to use the lagging quotes.csv API Thanks!

  • CALayer won't display

    - by Paul from Boston
I'm trying to learn how to use CALayers for a project and am having trouble getting sublayers to display. I created a vanilla View-based iPhone app in XCode for these tests. The only real code is in the ViewController which sets up the layers and their delegates. There is a delegate, DelegateMainView, for the viewController's view layer and a second different one, DelegateStripeLayer, for an additional layer. The ViewController code is all in awakeFromNib, - (void)awakeFromNib { DelegateMainView *oknDelegate = [[DelegateMainView alloc] init]; self.view.layer.delegate = oknDelegate; CALayer *newLayer = [CALayer layer]; DelegateStripeLayer *sldDelegate = [[DelegateStripeLayer alloc] init]; newLayer.delegate = sldDelegate; [self.view.layer addSublayer:newLayer]; [newLayer setNeedsDisplay]; [self.view.layer setNeedsDisplay]; } The two different delegates are simply wrappers for the CALayer delegate method, drawLayer:inContext:, i.e., - (void)drawLayer:(CALayer *)layer inContext:(CGContextRef)context { CGRect bounds = CGContextGetClipBoundingBox(context); ... do some stuff here ... CGContextStrokePath(context); } each a bit different. The layer, view.layer, is drawn properly but newLayer is never drawn. If I put breakpoints in the two delegates, the program stops in DelegateMainView but never reaches DelegateStripeLayer. What am I missing here? Thanks.

  • JQTOUCH, Binding to links pulled in via AJAX, to make another AJAX call? Possible?

    - by nobosh
Hello. I'm using JQTOUCH using the AJAX example provided in the demo: $('#customers').bind('pageAnimationEnd', function(e, info){ if (!$(this).data('loaded')) { // Make sure the data hasn't already been loaded (we'll set 'loaded' to true a couple lines further down) $('.loadingscreen').css({'display':'block'}); $(this).append($('<div> </div>'). // Append a placeholder in case the remote HTML takes its sweet time making it back load('/mobile/ajax/customers/ .info', function() { // Overwrite the "Loading" placeholder text with the remote HTML $(this).parent().data('loaded', true); // Set the 'loaded' var to true so we know not to re-load the HTML next time the #callback div animation ends $('.loadingscreen').css({'display':'none'}); })); } }); This then returns a nice UL which outputs just fine.. <ul class="edgetoedge"> <li class="viewaction" id="715"> <span class="Title"><a href="/c-view/715/">Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the...</a></span> <div class="meta"> <span class="dateAdded"> 1d ago </span> </div> </li> </ul> This is where I get stuck. How can I then make it so when you click on the link above, it loads the URL wrapped near the class="Title" ? I'd like it to load JQTouch like the first code example. I tried the following two things without success: $('.viewaction').bind('click', function() { alert('wow'); }); $('.viewaction').live('pageAnimationEnd', function(e, info){ }); Thank you!

  • Need help regarding one LALR(1) parsing.

    - by AppleGrew
I am trying to parse a context-free language, called Context Free Art. I have created its parser in Javascript using a YACC-like JS LALR(1) parser generator JSCC. Take the example of following CFA (Context Free Art) code. This code is a valid CFA. startshape A rule A { CIRCLE { s 1} } Notice the A and s in above. s is a command to scale the CIRCLE, but A is just a name of this rule. In the language's grammar I have set s as token SCALE and A comes under token STRING (I have a regular expression to match string and it is at the bottom of of all tokens). This works fine, but in the below case it breaks. startshape s rule s { CIRCLE { s 1} } This too is a perfectly valid code, but since my parser marks s after rule as SCALE token so it errors out saying that it was expecting STRING. Now my question is, if there is any way to re-write the production rules of the parser to account for this? The related production rule is:- rule: RULE STRING '{' buncha_replacements '}' [* rule(%2, 1) *] | RULE STRING RATIONAL '{' buncha_replacements '}' [* rule(%2, 1*%3) *] ; One simple solution I can think of is create a copy of above rule with STRING replaced by SCALE, but this is just one of the many similar rules which would need such fixing. Furthermore there are many other terminals which can get matched to STRING. So that means way too many rules!

  • log4j additivity, category logging level and appender threshold

    - by GBa
I'm having troubles understanding the relation between additivity, category logging level and appender threshold... here's the scenario (my log4j.properties file): log4j.category.GeneralPurpose.classTypes=INFO, webAppLogger log4j.additivity.GeneralPurpose.classTypes=true log4j.category.GeneralPurpose=ERROR, defaultLogger log4j.additivity.GeneralPurpose=false log4j.appender.webAppLogger=org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender log4j.appender.webAppLogger.File=webapps/someWebApp/logs/webApp.log log4j.appender.webAppLogger.MaxFileSize=3000KB log4j.appender.webAppLogger.MaxBackupIndex=10 log4j.appender.webAppLogger.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout log4j.appender.webAppLogger.layout.ConversionPattern=%d [%t] (%F:%L) %-5p - %m%n log4j.appender.webAppLogger.Encoding=UTF-8 log4j.appender.defaultLogger=org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender log4j.appender.defaultLogger.File=logs/server.log log4j.appender.defaultLogger.MaxFileSize=3000KB log4j.appender.defaultLogger.MaxBackupIndex=10 log4j.appender.defaultLogger.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout log4j.appender.defaultLogger.layout.ConversionPattern=%d [%t] (%F:%L) %-5p - %m%n log4j.appender.defaultLogger.Encoding=UTF-8 insights: category GeneralPurpose.classTypes is INFO category GeneralPurpose.classTypes has additivity TRUE category GeneralPurpose is ERROR category GeneralPurpose has additivity FALSE with the current configuration I would have assumed that INFO messages sent to category GeneralPurpose.classTypes.* would be only logged to webAppLogger since the parent logger (cateogry) is set with ERROR level logging. However, this is not the case, the message is logged twice (one in each log file). Looks like the ERROR logging level for the parent category is not taken into consideration when the event is sent as part of additivity... is my observation correct or am I missing something ? how should I alter the configuration in order to achieve only ERROR level loggings in server.log ? thanks, GBa.

  • Error while dynamically loading mapi32.dll

    - by The_Fox
Our application uses Simple MAPI to send e-mails. One of our clients has problems sending e-mail from a session on his terminal server. The mapi32.dll is loaded with a call to LoadLibrary which succeeds, but then our application tries to get the addresses of the functions MAPILogon, MAPILogOff, MAPISendMail, MAPIFreeBuffer and MAPIResolveName. The problem is that GetProcAddress fails for those functions with an ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED (code: 5) except for MAPIFreeBuffer. It looks like some sort of security thing. How can I fix this or should I use another method to send mail? I want the macro to run after I tab out of $testname$. I want to be able to just write the test name in a single line of text with spaces, and then the Macro turns all the spaces into underscores. Is this possible?

When I run the example from http://weavejester.github.com/compojure/docs/getting-started.html ...I get the following error at the lein repl step: ~/hello-www> lein repl src/hello_www/core.clj Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Wrong number of args passed to: repl$repl (NO_SOURCE_FILE:0) at clojure.lang.Compiler.eval(Compiler.java:5359) at clojure.lang.Compiler.eval(Compiler.java:5311) at clojure.core$eval__4350.invoke(core.clj:2364) at clojure.main$eval_opt__6502.invoke(main.clj:228) at clojure.main$initialize__6506.invoke(main.clj:247) at clojure.main$script_opt__6526.invoke(main.clj:263) at clojure.main$main__6544.doInvoke(main.clj:347) at clojure.lang.RestFn.invoke(RestFn.java:483) at clojure.lang.Var.invoke(Var.java:381) at clojure.lang.AFn.applyToHelper(AFn.java:180) at clojure.lang.Var.applyTo(Var.java:482) at clojure.main.main(main.java:37) Caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Wrong number of args passed to: repl$repl at clojure.lang.AFn.throwArity(AFn.java:439) at clojure.lang.AFn.invoke(AFn.java:43) at clojure.lang.Var.invoke(Var.java:369) at clojure.lang.AFn.applyToHelper(AFn.java:165) at clojure.lang.Var.applyTo(Var.java:482) at clojure.core$apply__3776.invoke(core.clj:535) at leiningen.core$_main__59$fn__61.invoke(core.clj:94) at leiningen.core$_main__59.doInvoke(core.clj:91) at clojure.lang.RestFn.applyTo(RestFn.java:138) at clojure.core$apply__3776.invoke(core.clj:535) at leiningen.core$_main__59.invoke(core.clj:97) at user$eval__67.invoke(NO_SOURCE_FILE:1) at clojure.lang.Compiler.eval(Compiler.java:5343) ... 11 more I have tried both the stable and the developer version of lein without any success. • GTK#-related error on MonoDevelop 2.8.5 on Ubuntu 11.04

    - by Mehrdad
When I try to create a new solution in MonoDevelop 2.8.5 in Ubuntu 11.04 x64, it shows me: System.ArgumentNullException: Argument cannot be null. However, I've installed (and re-installed) anything GTK#-related that I could think of... and the error still occurs. Does anyone know how to fix it?

  • Help using mod_jk to forward to backend app server

    - by ravun
I had mod-jk working a while ago but after switching servers and modifying some files, it no longer works. I am using mod_jk-1.2.28 with JBoss 4.2.3 as the backend. In the JBoss server.xml file I have the AJP 1.3 connector defined on port 8009 and I am binding jboss to the server's new IP address. The app I am trying to forward to is deployed as: [TomcatDeployer] deploy, ctxPath=/ManualAlerts, warUrl=.../tmp/deploy/tmp8097651929280250028ManualAlertsApp.ear-contents/ManualAlerts-exp.war/ On the web server, I have worker.properties with a worker set for the JBoss address and port 8009. The mod-jk.conf has JkMount /ManualAlerts/* worker1. Shouldn't this forward all requests to the web server with the URL http://address/ManualAlerts/ to the backend app named ManualAlerts? The mod-jk.log shows: [Sat Oct 31 14:19:28 2009][30709:3086014224] [error] ajp_send_request::jk_ajp_common.c (1507): (worker1) connecting to backend failed. In the mod-jk.log it shows connect to (XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:8009) failed, and the app-server address is correct here, too. I cannot figure out what's causing the issue.

  • Error Cannot create an Instance of "ObjectName" in Designer when using <UserControl.Resources>

    - by Mike Bynum
Hi All, I'm tryihg to bind a combobox item source to a static resource. I'm oversimplfying my example so that it's easy to understand what i'm doing. So I have created a class public class A : ObservableCollection<string> { public A() { IKBDomainContext Context = new IKBDomainContext(); Context.Load(Context.GetIBOptionsQuery("2C6C1Q"), p => { foreach (var item in SkinContext.IKBOptions) { this.Add(item); } }, null); } } So the class has a constructor that populates itself using a domaincontext that gets data from a persisted database. I'm only doing reads on this list so dont have to worry about persisting back. in xaml i add a reference to the namespace of this class then I add it as a usercontrol.resources to the page control. <UserControl.Resources> <This:A x:Key="A"/> </UserControl.Resources> and then i use it this staticresource to bind it to my combobox items source.in reality i have to use a datatemplate to display this object properly but i wont add that here. <Combobox ItemsSource="{StaticResource A}"/> Now when I'm in the designer I get the error: Cannot Create an Instance of "A". If i compile and run the code, it runs just fine. This seems to only affect the editing of the xaml page. What am I doing wrong?

  • How to draw an overlay on a SurfaceView used by Camera on Android?

    - by Cristian Castiblanco
    I have a simple program that draws the preview of the Camera into a SurfaceView. What I'm trying to do is using the onPreviewFrame method, which is invoked each time a new frame is drawn into the SurfaceView, in order to execute the invalidate method which is supposed to invoke the onDraw method. In fact, the onDraw method is being invoked, but nothing there is being printed (I guess the camera preview is overwriting the text I'm trying to draw). This is a simplify version of the SurfaceView subclass I have: public class Superficie extends SurfaceView implements SurfaceHolder.Callback { SurfaceHolder mHolder; public Camera camera; Superficie(Context context) { super(context); mHolder = getHolder(); mHolder.addCallback(this); mHolder.setType(SurfaceHolder.SURFACE_TYPE_PUSH_BUFFERS); } public void surfaceCreated(final SurfaceHolder holder) { camera = Camera.open(); try { camera.setPreviewDisplay(holder); camera.setPreviewCallback(new PreviewCallback() { public void onPreviewFrame(byte[] data, Camera arg1) { invalidar(); } }); } catch (IOException e) {} } public void invalidar(){ invalidate(); } public void surfaceChanged(SurfaceHolder holder, int format, int w, int h) { Camera.Parameters parameters = camera.getParameters(); parameters.setPreviewSize(w, h); camera.setParameters(parameters); camera.startPreview(); } @Override public void draw(Canvas canvas) { super.draw(canvas); // nothing gets drawn :( Paint p = new Paint(Color.RED); canvas.drawText("PREVIEW", canvas.getWidth() / 2, canvas.getHeight() / 2, p); } }

  • HttpModule with ASP.NET MVC not being called

    - by mgroves
    I am trying to implement a session-per-request pattern in an ASP.NET MVC 2 Preview 1 application, and I've implemented an IHttpModule to help me do this: public class SessionModule : IHttpModule { public void Init(HttpApplication context) { context.Response.Write("Init!"); context.EndRequest += context_EndRequest; } // ... etc... } And I've put this into the web.config: <system.web> <httpModules> <add name="SessionModule" type="MyNamespace.SessionModule" /> </httpModules> <system.webServer> <modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="true"> <remove name="SessionModule" /> <add name="SessionModule" type="MyNamespace.SessionModule" /> </modules> However, "Init!" never gets written to the page (I'm using the built-in VS web server, Cassini). Additionally, I've tried putting breakpoints in the SessionModule but they never break. What am I missing?

  • Implementation review for a MVC.NET app with custom membership

    - by mrjoltcola
I'd like to hear if anyone sees any problems with how I implemented the security in this Oracle based MVC.NET app, either security issues, concurrency issues or scalability issues. First, I implemented a CustomOracleMembershipProvider to handle the database interface to the membership store. I implemented a custom Principal named User which implements IPrincipal, and it has a hashtable of Roles. I also created a separate class named AuthCache which has a simple cache for User objects. Its purpose is simple to avoid return trips to the database, while decoupling the caching from either the web layer or the data layer. (So I can share the cache between MVC.NET, WCF, etc.) The MVC.NET stock MembershipService uses the CustomOracleMembershipProvider (configured in web.config), and both MembershipService and FormsService share access to the singleton AuthCache. My AccountController.LogOn() method: 1) Validates the user via the MembershipService.Validate() method, also loads the roles into the User.Roles container and then caches the User in AuthCache. 2) Signs the user into the Web context via FormsService.SignIn() which accesses the AuthCache (not the database) to get the User, sets HttpContext.Current.User to the cached User Principal. In global.asax.cs, Application_AuthenticateRequest() is implemented. It decrypts the FormsAuthenticationTicket, accesses the AuthCache by the ticket.Name (Username) and sets the Principal by setting Context.User = user from the AuthCache. So in short, all these classes share the AuthCache, and I have, for thread synchronization, a lock() in the cache store method. No lock in the read method. The custom membership provider doesn't know about the cache, the MembershipService doesn't know about any HttpContext (so could be used outside of a web app), and the FormsService doesn't use any custom methods besides accessing the AuthCache to set the Context.User for the initial login, so it isn't dependent on a specific membership provider. The main thing I see now is that the AuthCache will be sharing a User object if a user logs in from multiple sessions. So I may have to change the key from just UserId to something else (maybe using something in the FormsAuthenticationTicket for the key?).

  • Java Simple Chat Box

    - by Allen
I am trying to create a very simple chat window that simply has the ability to display some text, which i add to from time to time. However I get the following run time error when attempting to append text to the window: java.lang.ClassCastException: javax.swing.JViewport cannot be cast to javax.swing.JTextPane at ChatBox.getTextPane(ChatBox.java:41) at ChatBox.getDocument(ChatBox.java:45) at ChatBox.addMessage(ChatBox.java:50) at ImageTest2.main(ImageTest2.java:160) Here is the class to handle the basic operations: public class ChatBox extends JScrollPane { private Style style; public ChatBox() { StyleContext context = new StyleContext(); StyledDocument document = new DefaultStyledDocument(context); style = context.getStyle(StyleContext.DEFAULT_STYLE); StyleConstants.setAlignment(style, StyleConstants.ALIGN_LEFT); StyleConstants.setFontSize(style, 14); StyleConstants.setSpaceAbove(style, 4); StyleConstants.setSpaceBelow(style, 4); JTextPane textPane = new JTextPane(document); textPane.setEditable(false); this.add(textPane); } public JTextPane getTextPane() { return (JTextPane) this.getComponent(0); } public StyledDocument getDocument() { return (StyledDocument) getTextPane().getStyledDocument(); } public void addMessage(String speaker, String message) { String combinedMessage = speaker + ": " + message; StyledDocument document = getDocument(); try { document.insertString(document.getLength(), combinedMessage, style); } catch (BadLocationException badLocationException) { System.err.println("Oops"); } } } if there is a simpler way to do this, by all means let me know. I only need the text to be of a single font type, and uneditable by the user. Aside from that, I just need to be able to append text on the fly.

  • ASP.NET trace level

    - by axk
This question is related to my another question. With trace enabled I can get the following(not quite verbose) trace of a page request: [2488] aspx.page: Begin PreInit [2488] aspx.page: End PreInit [2488] aspx.page: Begin Init [2488] aspx.page: End Init [2488] aspx.page: Begin InitComplete [2488] aspx.page: End InitComplete [2488] aspx.page: Begin PreLoad [2488] aspx.page: End PreLoad [2488] aspx.page: Begin Load [2488] aspx.page: End Load [2488] aspx.page: Begin LoadComplete [2488] aspx.page: End LoadComplete [2488] aspx.page: Begin PreRender [2488] aspx.page: End PreRender [2488] aspx.page: Begin PreRenderComplete [2488] aspx.page: End PreRenderComplete [2488] aspx.page: Begin SaveState [2488] aspx.page: End SaveState [2488] aspx.page: Begin SaveStateComplete [2488] aspx.page: End SaveStateComplete [2488] aspx.page: Begin Render [2488] aspx.page: End Render Reflector shows that System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain method which I suppose does the main part of request processing has more conditional trace messges. For example: if (context.TraceIsEnabled) { this.Trace.Write("aspx.page", "Begin PreInit"); } if (EtwTrace.IsTraceEnabled(5, 4)) { EtwTrace.Trace(EtwTraceType.ETW_TYPE_PAGE_PRE_INIT_ENTER, this._context.WorkerRequest); } this.PerformPreInit(); if (EtwTrace.IsTraceEnabled(5, 4)) { EtwTrace.Trace(EtwTraceType.ETW_TYPE_PAGE_PRE_INIT_LEAVE, this._context.WorkerRequest); } if (context.TraceIsEnabled) { this.Trace.Write("aspx.page", "End PreInit"); } if (context.TraceIsEnabled) { this.Trace.Write("aspx.page", "Begin Init"); } if (EtwTrace.IsTraceEnabled(5, 4)) { EtwTrace.Trace(EtwTraceType.ETW_TYPE_PAGE_INIT_ENTER, this._context.WorkerRequest); } this.InitRecursive(null); So there are these EwtTrace.Trace messages which I don't see I the trace. Going deeper with Reflector shows that EtwTrace.IsTraceEnabled is checking if the appropriate tracelevel set: internal static bool IsTraceEnabled(int level, int flag) { return ((level < _traceLevel) && ((flag & _traceFlags) != 0)); } So the question is how do I control these _traceLevel and _traceFlags and where should these trace messages ( EtwTrace.Trace ) go? The code I'm looking at is of .net framework 2.0 @Edit: I guess I should start with ETW Tracing MSDN entry.
