    Hi, I have a stringdate 16-MAY-2010 23:04:44 which i need to convert to gmt time zone that is the out put required is 17-May-2010 12:03:03.     i've a old database where i store the data of the holidays and dates in which they are celebrated.. id country hdate description link 1 Afghanistan 2008-01-19 Ashura ashura 2 Albania 2008-01-01 New Year Day new-year the flaws in the above structure is that, i repeat the data other than date for every festival and every year and every country.. For example, I store a new date for 2009 for ashura and afghanistan .. I tried to limit the redundancy and split the tables as countries (id,name) holidays (id, holiday, celebrated_by, link) // celebrated_by will store the id's of countries separated by ',' holiday_dates (holiday_id, date, year) // date will the full date and year will be as 2008 or 2009 Now i have some problems with the structure too.. consider that i store the holiday like Independence day , its common for more countries but will have different dates. so how to handle this and and the link will have to be different too.. And i need to list the countries which celebrates the same holiday and also when i describe about a single holiday i need to list all the other holidays that country would be celebrating.. And the most of all , i already have huge amount of data in the old tables and i need to split it to the new one once the new design is finalized... Any ideas?

    I am using the Jquery Validation plug-in, however i need to add a "custom rule", i have 2 date fields and i need to ensure that the end date is not less than the start date. My problem is how to pass the two fields in as elements. As i understand u set up a custom function something like this : function customValidationMethod(value, element, params){ } But can't see how i could use it with two fields, if anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

    end_date=$(date +"%m/%d/%Y") /usr/bin/perl -pi -e "s/_end_date_/${end_date}/g" filename I want to replace string '_end_date_' with current date. Since current date has slashes in it(yes I want the slashes), I need to escape them. How can I do this? I've tried several ways like replacing slashes with "\/" using sed and perl itself but it didn't work. Finally I used 'cut' to break date in 3 parts and escaped slashes but this solution doesn't look good. Any better solution?

I need to get the list of the changes on "status" column: the status, the date and the previous status on a specified item (It would be good as well getting the status and date when status was changed). I don't know if this is possible by using HQL. Thanks.

    I have created a application in c# , it reads excel file and after checking some conditions, it select a row to be written in another Excel File. Everything is working fine, but i need to end the file with the DateTime.Now.ToString(). string date = DateTime.Now.ToString(); ExcelWorkSheet2.Cells[newFileRow, 1] = date; When I see the file created, it shows "########" symbol instead of actual date. When I select that cell , it changes to correct date format. What may be going wrong?

The dialog box follows the mouse On click the dialog box "stops" and displays a link What I want to achieve When a table cell is hovered over the title of the dialog box shows the date e.g "Mon 8th Oct 2012" When a table cell is hovered over the html of the dialog box shows the events for that day in list format (there is code that succesfully retrieves the first row in function getSelectedDates() ) function getSelectedDates() needs to be called in the hover event - showing multiple events for that date in the dialog box I hope that if we can display the date being hovered over in the title of the dialog then we can use the same information to retrieve the rows from the database to populate the html of the dialog for that day

    is it possible to load only the latest associated record of an associated table? an example: class author attr_accessible :first_name, :last_name, :birthday has_many :books end class book attr_accessible :pages, :date of publication, :title belongs_to :author end Is there a way to generate a scope to load only the newest released book the author wrote? Or the book with the most pages? I know, that I could include or join all books. But I don't know if its possible to load only a specific book for each author.     Could somebody please explain or show some sample code of how I can use get a thumbnail to be put into a UIImageView after the user selects a photo with UIImagePickerController? Let's say I want to set a thumbnail as the image of a table view cell. When the user presses the cell, the image picker is shown and the user selects an image that is already on their device. I also want to save the path to that thumbnail so that the next time the view is displayed, the proper thumbnail can be shown. I am able to display an image picker and my delegate get's the chosen image correctly, but I want the path to the thumbnail, and I want to load the thumbnail using that path (i.e. I want to save the path). I've searched for hours today and haven't figured this out. Perhaps I'm not understanding ALAsset, or maybe it is something else, but I can't find any examples that are helping me. I have never used the image picker or ALAsset before now, so I'm completely new at this.

The most obvious solution would be: SELECT COUNT(*) as ExecutesNum, DATE(Date) as D, HOUR(Date) as H GROUP BY D, H And it works, BUT it does not create rows for hours where there were no executes.     I am using UIDatePicker in my current app, here is how I set a UILabel with the date time string obtained from the UIDatePicker. -(IBAction)AddTimeEnd:(id)sender { NSDate * date = [m_DateTimePicker date]; m_DateTimeLabel.text = [date description]; } Somehow the time I have entered (EST) kept on getting converted to US time in the UILabel. Does anyone know how to fix it? I would like the time entered in UIDatePicker to be consistent with the text in the label (probably the simplest way is set the locale for the UIDatePicker to be the local timezone)?

    I'm trying to construct a DateTime object with multiple accepted formats. According to the DateTime::createFromFormat docs, the first parameter (format) must be a string. I was wondering if there was a way to createFromFormats. In my case, I want the year for my format to be optional: DateTime::createFromFormat('Y-m-d', $date); DateTime::createFromFormat('m-d', $date); so that a user can input just 'm-d' and the year would be assumed 2013. If I wanted multiple accepted formats, would I have to call createFromFormat each time? Shortest thing for my scenario is: DateTime::createFromFormat('m-d', $date) ?: DateTime::createFromFormat('Y-m-d', $date);

For additional information regarding the subject, visit Wikipedia. My Answer: Any computer that has two CPUs or two “cores“ is known as Dual Core. Core Duo is a brand name of Intel for Dual Core. Core 2 Duo is simply a higher version of Core Duo. (e.g. for Pentium brand, it`s like Pentium I, Pentium II, etc.) The computer I am using now has Core 2 Duo. Intel has launched a new brand, which they call i3, i5, and i7.  Here, the numbers are not related to the number of cores; rather, they show the range of the CPU.   • MS Bing web crawler out of control causing our site to go down

    Here is a weird one that I am not sure what to do. Today our companies e-commerce site went down. I tailed the production log and saw that we were receiving a ton of request from this range of IP's 157.55.98.0/157.55.100.0. I googled around and come to find out that it is a MSN Web Crawler. So essentially MS web crawler overloaded our site causing it not to respond. Even though in our robots.txt file we have the following; Crawl-delay: 10 So what I did was just banned the IP range in iptables. But what I am not sure to do from here is how to follow up. I can't find anywhere to contact Bing about this issue, I don't want to keep those IPs blocked because I am sure eventually we will get de-indexed from Bing. And it doesn't really seem like this has happened to anyone else before. Any Suggestions? Update, My Server / Web Stats Our web server is using Nginx, Rails 3, and 5 Unicorn workers. We have 4gb of memory and 2 virtual cores. We have been running this setup for over 9 months now and never had an issue, 95% of the time our system is under very little load. On average we receive 800,000 page views a month and this never comes close to bringing / slowing down our web server. Taking a look at the logs we were receiving anywhere from 5 up to 40 request / second from this IP range. In all my years of web development I have never seen a crawler hit a website so many times. Is this new with Bing?
