  • Looking for Opinions and Sugestions on my Website. (General Question)

    I am looking for general opinions and suggestions about the site in whole. Its ok I don't mind hearing where I went wrong on anything. I'm still learning. All tips and pointers on any subject relating are highly welcome. If you are going to make a suggestion and post a snippet or code please explain how it works in detail. The site was design as a interface to display the labs I have to do in my college (the labs are all basic things that I'm way beyond). So I decided to take it all to the next level with this. The link is http://opentech.durhamcollege.ca/~intn2201/brittains/labs/ It is 100% designed by me with the exception of the icons. (I could not think of anything better to draw) There is no specific area of the site I want suggestions or opinions on this is a general question. You may answer about the site in whole or an area of the coding just please specify. If you have any questions related to my site or code you may ask them as well.   • How can I create and call a javascript function on a dynamically loaded user control?

    when i try to call a javascript function in a dynamically loaded user control, it cannot find the function specified. I have a user control for organizationDetails.ascx. In there, I am using modal popup extender to get some information from the user and then i verify the address through google and suggests the proper format. I am trying to use a java script for a function called for onBlur of a textbox but the mozilla firebug says that the function is not defined, which is not the case. It would be great if someone can help me out here.

  • jQuery.param() - doesn't serialize javascript Date objects?

    jQuery.param({foo: 1}); // => "foo=1" - SUCCESS! jQuery.param({bar: new Date()}); // => "" - OUCH! There is no problem with encodeURIComponent(new Date()), which is what I would have thought param is calling for each member. Also, explicitly using "traditional" param (e.g. jQuery.param(xxx, true)) DOES serialize the date, but alas, that isn't of much help since my data structure isn't flat. Is this because typeof(Date) == "object" and param tries to descend into it to find scalar values? How might one realistically serialize an object that happens to have Date's in it for $.post() etc.?

  • jQuery, Quotes, characters etc are breaking my JSON

    I'm using json2.js to create a JSON object which JQUERY posts to the Server. The object looks like: [{"locationID":"16","locationDesc":"XXXX"}, {"locationID":"111","locationDesc":"XXXX"}, {"locationID":"12","locationDesc":"XXXX"}, {"locationID":"11","locationDesc":"XXXX"}] Problem here is that XXXX sometimes contains quotes like "we're'" etc.... How should I handle this? Do you I escape somewhere or encode in some way? Thanks

    I try to realize a link (in fact many links) that update a table in an website using an AjaxLink of Wicket. But I fail, the table is never updated (I have "setOutputMarkupId(true)" and call "addComponent", but there must be something other thats wrong). How can I realize a panel with a number of links and a table that displays dynamic data, dependent on the link clicked? Can someone give an example (Maybe two links, when the first one is clicked the table displays two random numbers from 1-10, when the second is clicked the table displays random numbers from 1-100)? Without reloading the entire page, but only the html for the table?

  • Accessing Element Count and Values Within a Hidden Div

    I'm having trouble grabbing the TR count in JQuery of a table that inside a DIV set to be hidden. Here is an example: <div id="questions" style="display: none;"> <table id="tbl_questions"> <thead> <tr> <th>Question</th> <th>Weight</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr id="q0"> <td id="td_question0">Some Question 0</td> <td id="td_wieght0">Some Weight 0</td> </tr> <tr id="q1"> <td id="td_question1">Some Question 1</td> <td id="td_wieght1">Some Weight 1</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </div> Note the table is within the containing div. It's set to display: none. When I try to run this JQuery code it returns 0. var question_count = $("#tbl_questions> tr").size(); alert(question_count); Any ideas? I'm try to locate the count so I can then build an array of each question and weight in the table. Since the ID's provide me with an index this should be simple, but is the fact that it is contained in a hidden DIV going to be a problem just as the above question? Thanks, Tegan Snyder

  • jquery tabs changing on change?

    Hello, I have two tabs each with different styles and different text. One recent posts and one recent comments the css for each are below with the ones I need to have when they are selected. So pretty much when a user selects the recent comments it will change the entire block to the second one (2). Pretty much changing width, and swapping the css for both tabs. I am currently using idtabs http://www.sunsean.com/idTabs/ My question: How can I have it change the tab css and width for both when the right tab is selected and then back again when the left tab is selected. Obviously you can do this unsafely with something like... var obj = eval("(" + json + ')'); ...but that leaves us vulnerable to the json string containing other code, which it seems very dangerous to simply eval.
