  • Limit the model data fields serialized by Web API based on the return type Interface

    We're updating our architecture to use a single object model for desktop, web and mobile that can be used in the MVVM pattern. I would like to be able to limit the data fields that are serialized through Web API by using interfaces on the controllers. This is required because the model objects for mobile are stored in HTML5 local storage so don't carry optional data while a thin desktop client would be able to store (and work with) more data. To achieve this a model will implement the different interfaces that define which data fields should be serialized and there will be a controller specific to the interface. The problem is that the Web API always serializes every field in the model even if it is not part of the interface being returned. How can we only serialize fields in the returned interface?

  • Crashes in Core Data's Inferred Mapping Model Creation (Lightweight Migration). Threading Issue?

    I'm getting random crashes when creating an inferred mapping model (with Core Data's lightweight migration) within my application. By the way, I have to do it programmatically in my application while it is running. This is how I create this model (after I have made proper currentModel and newModel objects, of course): NSMappingModel *mappingModel = [NSMappingModel inferredMappingModelForSourceModel:currentModel destinationModel:newModel error:&error]; The problem is this: This method is crashing randomly. When it works, it works just fine without issues. But when it crashes, it crashes my application (instead of returning nil to signify that the method failed, as it should). By randomly, I mean that sometimes it happens and sometimes not. It is unpredictable. Now, here is the deal: I'm running this method in another thread. More precisely, it is located inside a block that is passed via GCD to run on the global main queue. I need to do this for my UI to appear crisp to the user, i.e. so that I can display a progress indicator while the work is underway. The strange thing seems to be that if I remove the GCD stuff and just let it run on the main thread, it seems to be working fine and never crashing. Thus, could it be because I'm running this on a different thread that this is crashing? I somehow find that weird because I don't believe I'm breaking any Core Data rules regarding multi-threading. In particular, I'm not passing any managed objects around, and whenever I need access to the MOC, I create a new MOC, i.e. I'm not relying on any MOC (or for that matter: anything) that has been created earlier on the main thread. Besides the little MOC stuff that occurs, occurs after the mapping model creation method, i.e. after the point at which the app crashes, so it can't possibly be a cause of the crashes under consideration here. All I'm doing is taking two MOMs and asking for a mapping model between them. That can't be wrong even under threading, now can it? Any ideas on what could be going on?

    Let's say I wanted similar functionality to a doubly linked list but needed a matrix instead so that each node was structured like this: public class Node { Node Up, Down, Left, Right; object Value; } Is there a name for such a structure? I've looked through this Wikipedia listing of data structures but didn't see anything similar. Unless I just missed it.

  • How to add response headers based on Content-type, or getting Content-type before the response is co

    I want to set the Expires header for all image/* and text/css. I'm doing this in a Filter. However: before calling chain.doFilter(..) the Content-type is not yet "realized" after calling chain.doFilter(..) the Content-type is set, but so is content-length, which forbids adding new headers (at least in Tomcat implementation) I can use the extensions of the requested resource, but since some of the css files are generated by richfaces by taking them from inside jar-files, the name of the file isn't x.css, but is /xx/yy/zz.xcss/DATB/.... So, is there a way to get the Content-type before the response is committed.

  • How to retrieve a bigint from a database and place it into an Int64 in SSIS

    I ran into this problem a couple years back and am hoping there has been a fix and I just don't know about it. I am using an 'Execute SQL Task' in the Control Flow of an SSIS package to retrieve a 'bigint' ID value. The task is supposed to place this in an Int64 SSIS variable but I getting the error: "The type of the value being assigned to variable "User::AuditID" differs from the current variable type. Variables may not change type during execution. Variable types are strict, except for variables of type Object." When I brought this to MS' attention a couple years back they stated that I had to 'work around' this by placing the bigint into an SSIS object variable and then converting the value to Int64 as needed.   • Can't get the JSONP workin' with WCF Data Services...

    What am I missing here? It seems from all that I read and watched, exposing JSON from a WCF Data Service should be as easy as adding the '[JSONPSupportBehavior]' directive in front of the Service Class. Problem is VS2010 doesn't recognize 'JSONPSupportBehavior'. Is there a reference I am missing? Seemed like, from alll the articles, it was supportted outta the box. TIA S.

    A colleague of mine posted a question on an internal forum which got me thinking about whether this was possible through C#. Basically, he's got an interface as follows: public interface IProvider<T> { T GetT(); } Is it possible to use something that implements that interface as a type parameter to another generic class and have access to the type T without re-specifying it? For example: public class Foo<P> where P : IProvider<T> { P p; T GetInnerT() { return p.GetT(); } } This does not compile, because the type T is not defined and hence can't be used as a parameter for IProvider. Is something like this even possible? Just curious!

  • Select a data template by item type programatically in WPF

    Hi all, unfortunately the WPF ToolbarTray does not support binding to a collection of ToolbarViewModels (Correct me, if I'm wrong). Thus I want to create the Toolbars programmatically. So there are two tasks, which I don't know how to do: Select the data template based on the item type. Instantiate the data template as toolbar Both should do the same as WPF does, when we use ItemsControl with an enumerable content and empty template. I used reflector to anaylse what WPF does. Task 1 is done by FrameworkElement.FindTemplateResourceInternal, but this is internal, and I couldn't find any public methods to acomplish the task. Of course one could enumerate all resources and match the data template data type property, but this seems sub-optimal. Who know's how to acomplish these tasks?

  • Bound a treeview control to user-defined complex type using EF 4

    Hi, I use Asp.net, SQL 2008 and EF 4. I need display hierarchy data in a treeview control, Data is stored in a DB that use HierarchyId. Unfortunately, EF4 doesn't support HierarchyId. So in this case, I thought to have a stored procedure that deals with my hierarchy and return a result set back to EF that EF4 can turn into a collection of user-defined complex type that can then be bound directly to the treeview control. I imported a SPROC in EF 4 using Import Function and now I have a Complex DataType called: CategoryHierarchy_Result An image of my Model: Here some data from the Complex Type (in a GridView for example GridView1.DataSource = context.CategoryHierarchy(1);): My questions is: How to display my data from my Complex Type in a TreeView Control, showing a Tree structure that respect CategoryNodeString? I am a beginner an I never use TreeView before, any help or resource would be appreciated! Thanks!. I've added icons to all buttons (which actually links with class 'btn' from twitter-bootstrap) in my applications, but can't add icons on 'input type submit'.   • Activator.CreateInstance with type name as string and including parameters

    I am working in .Net 3.5, looking at all the various constructors for Activator.CreateInstance. I want to create an instance of a class, calling a particular constructor. I do not have the class type, only its name. I have the following, which works, but actually winds up calling the parameterless constructor first, then the one I want. This is not a terribly big deal, but the parameterless constructor calls a rather busy base constructor, and the constructor I want to call does, too. In other words, given a type, calling CreateInstance with parameters is easy (only the last two lines below), but given only a type name, is there a better way than this?   • Jquery Ajaxform with input type=file and multifile

    Im using ajax form with multifile. However ajaxform just seems to quietly die and does not do anything if using multifile. Multifile is just a jquery plugin that builds a list of input type=file so that you can upload multiple files at once, before which you can add/delete your file upload list. I've looked at multifile and made one change to ensure that it generated a unique name as well as id which it didn't do before and i've checked the form elements multifile is building which all appear to be correct. From looking at ajaxform, it seems that it shoulld just generate the iframe as normal and post the multiple input type=file but it does nothing. Has anyone else experienced problems with multiple input type=file uploads

  • If I create a transient property in the model, isn't this managed by core data then?

    Just to grok this: If I had a transient property, lets say averagePrice, and I mark that as "transient" in the data modeler: This will not be persistet, and no column will be created in SQLite for that? And: If I make my own NSManagedObject subclass with an averagePrice property, does it make any sense to model that property in the xcdatamodel file? Would it make a difference if I would simply create a property in my subclass and not model that in the entity? (I think: yes, it doesn't matter at all ... but not sure)
