• Redirect 301 Transfer to New Domain Output URL is Ugly

  I am moving my blog to a new domain. I am trying to do this through .htaccess. While the redirect is okay - the output URL is 'ugly' example in old domain .htaccess file: redirect 301 /archives/2009/06/02/hello-world/ http://indiapoint.net/archives/2009/06/02/hello-world/ So if we click http://www.i3pep.org/archives/2009/06/02/hello-world/ the redirect is to http://indiapoint.net/archives/2009/06/02/hello-world/?year=2009&monthnum=06&day=02&name=hello-world&page= Please suggest what should be done thanks Anup

• Devise / Rails 4 Windows mobile authentication failure

  Im using devise with a rails 4 application. Authentication works fine on most devices, including some old feature phones. I am however running into problems with the Nokia Lumia. • Sending events to the dev version of a ruleset via HTTP

  I've been writing an endpoint that sends events to a KRL ruleset via HTTP GET (based on the documentation here), in this format: http://cs.kobj.net/blue/event/{domain}/{eventname}/{appid} That works great when the version of the app I want to test is the same one that's deployed. I don't always want to deploy before testing it, though. Using the stated format for calling the dev version doesn't work. It still calls the deployed version of my ruleset: http://cs.kobj.net/blue/event/{domain}/{eventname}/{appid}:kynetx_app_version=dev What am I doing wrong?

• Debugging a basic OpenGL texture fail? (iphone)

  Hey all, I have a very basic texture map problem in GL on iPhone, and I'm wondering what strategies there are for debugging this kind of thing. (Frankly, just staring at state machine calls and wondering if any of them is wrong or misordered is no way to live-- are there tools for this?) I have a 512x512 PNG file that I'm loading up from disk (not specially packed), creating a CGBitmapContext, then calling CGContextDrawImage to get bytes out of it. (This code is essentially stolen from an Apple sample.) If I clear the whole context immediately beforehand to red, I don't see the red-- which means something is being rendered there, but not the contents of my PNG. What could I be doing wrong? And more importantly, what are the right tools and techniques for debugging this sort of thing, because running into this kind of problem and not being able to "step through it" in a debugger in any meaningful way is a bummer. • Problem in doing Add Web Reference (http://.../service.asmx)

  I am trying to Add a Web Reference to http//.../service.asmx file in my project. First it gives me an error: "... Unable to download following files from: http://.../service.asmx?wsdl Do you want to skip these files and continue ..." When i click 'Yes', the proxy gets created with .disco and other reference files, but does not adds .wsdl file. Other option i tried, i used http//.../service.asmx?wsdl to add web reference. In this case, i dont get any error, but the proxy gets added with .wsdl and reference files, but it does not adds .disco file. Can someone help me on why this is happening? I thought, adding web reference to .asmx should add everything under the proxy.

  I'm writing a fairly complicated multi-node proxy, and at one point I need to handle an HTTP request, but read from that request outside of the "http.Server" callback (I need to read from the request data and line it up with a different response at a different time). • Handling multiple async HTTP requests in Silverlight serially

  Due to the async nature of http access via WebClient or HttpWebRequest in Silverlight 4, when I want to do multiple http get/posts serially, I find myself writing code that looks like this: doFirstGet(someParams, () => { doSecondGet(someParams, () => { doThirdGet(... } }); Or something similar. I'll end up nesting subsequent calls within callbacks usually implemented using lambdas of some sort. Even if I break things out into Actions or separate methods, it still ends up being hard to read. Does anyone have a clean solution to executing multiple http requests in SL 4 serially? I don't need things to be synchronous, I just want serial execution.

• In Varnish, how can I read the Set-Cookie response header?

  I am trying to detect if my application has set a cookie that holds an "alert message" for the user on the next page, where the Javascript displays it if detected. In my vcl_fetch(), I need to detect if the specific cookie value "alert_message" appears anywhere in the Set-Cookie header (presumably in the VCL variable beresp.http.Set-Cookie). If detected, then I do not want to cache that next page (since Varnish strips the Set-Cookie header by default, which would obliterate the alert message before it makes it back to the browser). So here is my simple test: if(beresp.http.Set-Cookie ~ "alert_message") { set req.http.no_cache = 1; } Strangely, it fails to evaluate to true. So I throw the variable into the Server header to see what it looks like: set beresp.http.Server = " MyApp Varnish implementation - test reading set-cookie: "+beresp.http.Set-Cookie; But for some reason this only displays the FIRST Set-Cookie line in the response headers. • Android programming: Authentication and data exchange with Java EE

  I am having a Java application running in a Tomcat server using Spring, Hibernate, etc. and a two web interfaces, one implemented in Tapestry 5 and the other one using Flex with BlazeDS and Spring-BlazeDS. In my first android application I would now like to log in to the server and retrieve some data. I´m wondering how I could achieve this in a secure way. First of all I need to know which technology is the best to retrieve data from the server and how can I restrict the access to users only that have been successfully authenticated. With what I read until now I would try to implement a HTTPServlet on the server and make server calls via HTTP Client. In the servlet I could probably use the HTTPSession to check if the request comes from an authenticated user. And the data I would try to send serialized (JSON). Unfortunately, I´ve never done those things and maybe I´m on the wrong way and there are more comfortable solutions.

• Deny http access to a directory, allow access from WordPress plugin

  Hey. I need to prevent direct access to http://www.site.com/wp-content/uploads/folder/something.pdf through the browser. However the Download Monitor plugin I am using, which allows logged in users to download the file, needs to be able to work. Trying Order Allow,Deny Deny from all Allow from all but the download links do not now work... even though (I think) they are links produced by the script e.g. http://www.site.com/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/download.php?id=something.pdf Enter that in the address bar and you correctly get a WordPress message, 'You must be logged in to download this file.' However, if someone knows the URL where the file was uploaded http://www.site.com/wp-content/uploads/folder/something.pdf they can still access it directly. I don't know how (guesswork?) they would find the direct URL anyway, but the client wants it stopped! Thanks for any help.

  It looks like this template tag works like a charm for most people: http://blog.localkinegrinds.com/2007/09/06/digg-style-pagination-in-django/ For some reason I get this error: Caught an exception while rendering: 'is_paginated' I use this template tag in my template like so: {% load digg_paginator %} {% digg_paginator %} Where digg_paginator.py is in my app/templatetags folder and the included template context digg_paginator.html is in my app/templates folder. The queryset that needs pagination is called 'destinations'. If i just specify {% digg_paginator %}, how does it know what variable to paginate?? I feel I am missing something important here or just plain stupid :P Someone please help, or explain to me how this should be done. Thanks

  I have a Marketing service running locally through port 49481 and through IIS on port 65000. Either way when I try to debug into that service, I get an error message - {"There was no endpoint listening at http:/localhost:49481/Marketing.svc that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details."} My inner exception is - {"The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found."} I can open that service address, http:/localhost:49481/Marketing.svc, through a browser and I get a message that it's running ok. My config file is set up like - <endpoint address="http://localhost:49481/Marketing.svc" binding="basicHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="BasicHttpBinding_IMarketing" contract="SunriseMarketing.IMarketing" name="BasicHttpBinding_IMarketing" /> What am I missing?

  I've noticed that some sites (including http://jobs.stackoverflow.com) have query strings that look like this: http://somewebapp.example/?123 as compared to: http://somewebapp.example/123 or http://somewebapp.example/id/123 What are the reasons that developers choose to implement their web apps' URLs using the first example instead of the second and third examples? And as a bonus, how would one implement the first example in PHP, given that 123 is the primary key of some row in a database table? (I just need to know how to retrieve 123 from the URL; I already know how to query the database for a primary key of 123.)

Is there a way by which I can explicitly terminate a connection from server side such that client does not receive any response header. • Managed HttpListener vs C++ Network Lib - Requires admin rights?

  So, I have noticed that starting an HttpListener is considered impolite according to Win 7. I cannot do so without administrative rights without adding myself to some URL reservation list. In theory, this is alright, but I'd like to make my program as little invasive as possible. My main other alternative is something like the c++ Network Library, which utilizes boost. This is probably not as simple as a HttpListener though. Will this circumvent the admin rights requirement for listening to some HTTP url? How does windows handle http listening? Right now I'm just listening to http://+:xxxx/url, I guess it's fully possible to just create a Socket listening at port xxxx and provide my own/third party http implementation?

• Translating a C# WCF app into Visual Basic

  I'm trying to write a simple/small Windows Communication Foundation service application in Visual Basic (but I am very novice in VB) and all the good examples I've found on the net are written in C#. So far I've gotten my WCF service application working but now I'm trying to add callback functionality and the program has gotten more complicated. In the C# example code I understand how everything works but I am having trouble translating into VB the portion of code that uses a delegate. Can someone please show the VB equivalent? • Does a servlet-based stack have significant overheads?

  I don't know if it's simply because page-loads take a little time, or the way servlets have an abstraction framework above the 'bare metal' of HTTP, or just because of the "Enterprise" in Jave-EE, but in my head I have the notion that a servlet-based app is inherently adding overhead compared to a Java app which simply deals with sockets directly. Forget web-pages, imagine instead a Java server app where you send it a question over an HTTP request and it looks up an answer from memory and returns the answer in the response. You can easily write a Java socket-based app which does this, you can also do a servlet approach and get away from the "bare metal" of sockets. Is there any measurable performance impact to be expected implementing the same approach using Servlets rather than a custom socket-based HTTP listening app? And yes, I am hazy on the exact data sent in HTTP requests and I know it's a vague question. It's really about whether servlet implementations have lots of layers of indirection or anything else that would add up to a significant overhead per call, where by significant I mean maybe an additional 0.1s or more.

Then What is other way to know that from which url the request has came from?. Here is the situation - http:// abc.com/one.htmlwill have an iframe having src=http:// xyz.com/giv.php?param=1. How giv.php on xyz.com will know that request is coming from http:// abc.com/one.html?
