    I have an ASP.Net web user control which represents a single entry in a list. To allow users to reorder the items, each item has buttons to move the item up or down the list. Clicking on one of these raises an event to the parent page, which then shuffles the items in the placeholder control. Code fragments from the list entry: Public Event UpClicked As System.EventHandler Protected Sub btnUp_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnUp.Click RaiseEvent UpClicked(Me, New EventArgs()) End Sub And the parent container: rem (within the code to add an individual item to the placeholder) AddHandler l_oItem.UpClicked, AddressOf UpClicked Protected Sub UpClicked(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) MoveItem(DirectCast(sender, ScriptListItem), -1) End Sub It originally looked in testing like every other time the value for sender (verified by its properties) that reaches UpClicked is of an adjacent ListItem, not the one I've just clicked on - the first click is always wrong, then the second for the correct control. At present, testing appears to show that the button's click event is just being ignored every other time through. Breakpoints on the click events within the control simply aren't being hit, though the events are definitely being established. Why?

    I have this application that lists files in a WindowsForms listbox (NET framework). The application does not support the copy operation if multiple files are selected in the listbox, but at the same time, the application supports 'drag and drop' event for multiple files (allows dragging the files 'out of the application'). How can I extract the paths of the files 'dragged out of the application'? (i.e. I drop the files on some program / script that shows me the paths / saves the paths to a txt file).

  • No event is firing when placing a custom data bound control in DataRepeater control in Windows forms

    Hi, Custom events in a custom data bound control are not firing in DataRepeater control. When I debug it I found that the DataRepeater Control recreates the control using Activator.CreateInstance and Copies the Properties and Events. In my case copying events doesn't copy the custom events that I hooked in.     I've written a TFS plugin that impliments the ISubscribe interface, and creates an external ticket base off of the contents of a check-in note. What I would like to do, if when I go back through older TFS check-ins in VS and edit a check-in note, the plugin would process that event and create an external ticket retroactively. What event / SubscribedType do I need to subscribe to in order for ProcessEvents to fire?   • jQuery: Preventing an event from being attached more than once?

    Essentially, I have an element FOO that I want when clicked to attach a click event to a completely separate set of elements BAR, so that when they're clicked they can revert FOO to its previous content. I only want this event attached once. When FOO is clicked, its content is cached away in $back_up, and a trigger is added on the BAR set so that when clicked they can revert FOO back to its previous state. Is there a clever way to do this?     Hey guys, I'd like to create a toggle event for 2 different TD's in my table row. the event should show / hide the next table row. <table> <tr> <td>1</td> <td>2</td> <td>3</td> <td>4</td> <td>5</td> <td class="clickable1">6</td> <td class="clickable2">7</td> </tr> <tr><td>this row should be toggled between show/hide once one of the clickable TDs were clicked</td></tr> </table> here's the code i tried to apply but it has applied each one of the classes the event: $('.clickable1,.clickable2').toggle(function() { $(this).parent() .next('tr') .show(); }, function() { $(this).parent() .next('tr') .hide(); }); One more thing: i'm applying on each TR a css hover psuedo class. how can i make the two TRs to be highlighted (like hover effect on two of them) ?     I have posted this question previously but the answer is not appropiate. The solution provided just change the picture when the custombutton has focus and unfocus. Suppose in my application I need to change the picture if the user clicks on the customButton, n i m doing this by calling the same screen (ie UiApplication.getUiApplication().pushScreen(new Screen2(b));) . Screen2 is the screen which holds the customButton. On the click evevt i m pushing the same screen by passing aint variable pic_status that determines which picture to be drawn in the CustomButton in the new screen. I have debugged this and it seems that in triggerEvent the variable this is referencing the global window object. I thought it should reference myObj (which is what I need).     In some of the code I'm working on, the author max AJAX calls to a Django view that returns JSON. Once the JSON is retrieved, it'll be injected into the page with a function that looks like this (note, this is a simplification, but I'm sure you know what I'm getting at here): function build_event_listing(events) { var html = ''; for(int i = 0; i < events.length; i++) { event = events[i]; html += "<h2>" + event.title + "</h2>\n"; html += "<p>" + event.description + "</p>"; html += "Click <a href='/event/view/" + event.id + "'>here<a> for more info."; } events_div.html(html); } I really don't like this approach. To change the look of each event listing, the designer would have to modify that ugly JS. I'd much rather make use of Django's templating system, but I'm wondering how I can do this? I had the idea of writing the view like this: def view_listings(req): events = models.Event.objects.all() html = [] for event in events: html.append( render_to_string('event/single_event.html', { 'event': event, }, context_instance=RequestContext(req)) return HttpResponse(''.join(html), mimetype='text/html') ... but it just seems like there should be a better way. Exception handling is very confusing to me , I can not understand it's purpose ... can anybody enlighten me !? they compare it with die() as better not to stop the execution of the code , why would I stop the execution of code if I don't want to !? ofcourse I do I'm a beginner programmer , it might be confusing to you as well , or because i'm not very experienced in this ugly thing. What happens if task1 throws before the try has executed? Am I missing something that stops this being a race?   • Has glassfish 2.1.1 a bug handling http request and handle them twice?

    I'm using glassfish 2.1.1. I've watched a mysterious http/webservice-call handling. It seams an http request is handled by two different threads. After http basic authentication the first thread is faster. Persisting some data end, but writing response fails in glassfish internal. The second thread fails, because it tries to persist identical data and there are (unique) constrain failures. The response (the failure) of second thread was delivered to client. I don't won't discuss the behavior with the unique constrain failure. I've improve the webservice, so it can handle this better, because it could be happen anytime, that the client send the ws call a second time. But I think, glassfish 2.1.1 has an bug handling http request. Is there any known issue? Have I done an mistake?   • TabWidget Activity Handling - Does it Create a New Activity EVERY Time?

    When a TabWidget is using intents to designate the target Activity for each tab, is there any special handling of those Activities on the Activity Stack outside of the default operation? For Instance, if my app has tabs A, B, and C, and I click them in this order––A, B, A, C, A, B––how will the Activity stack change? My understanding of the default operation, if startActivity() is called each time on the intent, would have the Stack keep loading up new instances of the activities: A, AB, ABA, ABAC, ABACA, ABACAB It's hard to believe that's how it works though... Seems like it would be a waste of resources and could be endless. Can anyone tell me how this will actually work?

  • I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around handling the Activity Lifecycle...

    So it seems i've created a fatal flaw and coded an app before understanding/handling rotation/lifecycle events.. Currently, all of my code is in onCreate of each activity. I've read a lot of lifecycle tutorials online, including the official dev guide info, but i'm still having an almost unbelievably hard time trying to wrap my head around the rotation/lifecycle events/methods and when to use them correctly. For example, my app currently has an activity that opens the db, inserts a record, then closes the db.. if i rotate my screen on this activity, the data is re-entered into the db. Using the available lifecycle events (onPause(), onResume(), etc..), how would I prevent this db call from happening again? Would I have to pass a variable through the state saying that the db call has been done, and not to do it again? Thanks in advance..

    hello there , i know that there is some rules and standards in css handling but i mean which one is closer to a human thinking. for example : when i give a DIV tag a height property of 100px i just want it to be 100px! but in Firefox i should work on min-height or max-width and so on ! there is many like this examlpe , i think IE read css more humanestic against Firefox. i have several experiences in this case , your final nice design in IE can be a mess in Firefox thats because of the way they handle css. Firefox act as a robot but IE act as a human-half robot ! its just my idea. i will be glad to hear and learn from you proffesionals and other friends here. thank you.

    I get this error after having edited a few pages in SharePoint 2010. I have to do an IISReset on both front ends to get this to resolve.   • SQL Saturday #44 Huntington Beach Recap

    What a great day. It was long and tiring, but rewarding in so many ways. On Sunday morning, I was driving home and I decided to take the Pacific Coast Highway from Huntington Beach.  It was a great chance to exhale and just enjoy the sun and smells of the beach (I really love SoCal sometimes). And for future reference for all you speakers, the beach and ocean are only 5 minutes from the SQL Saturday location.  I just could help noticing also the shocking number of high priced cars on the road (4 Bentleys, 3 Ferraris, 1 Aston Martins, 3 Maserati, 1 Rolls Royce, and 2 Lamborghinis).  It made me think about this: Price of all those cars: $ 150,000+.  Impacting the ability of people to learn: Priceless.  We have positively impacted the education, knowledge, capabilities of not only our attendees, but also all of their companies and people they might help as well.  That is just staggering and something to be immensely proud of. To all of my fellow community leaders, I salute you. So lets talk about the event Overall We had over 220 people register for the event and had 180+ people attend the event. I was shooting for the magical 200 number, but I guess it just gives us more motivation to make it even bigger and better next time. We had a few snags along the way, but what event doesnt, but I think everything turned out great. I did not hear any negative comments and heard lots of positive comments along with people asking when the next one is going to be (More on that later). Location- Golden West College We could not have asked for a better partner for the event. Herb Cohen from Golden West College was the wizard behind the curtains. From the beginning, he was our advocate to the GWC Board and was instrumental in getting our event approved. The day off, Herb was a HUGE help getting any and all logistics that we needed taken care of. In the craziness of the early morning registration crush it was a big help knowing that he and Bret Stateham (Blog | Twitter) were taking care of testing projectors in all the rooms. Anything we needed he was there and was even proactive in getting some things that I had not even thought of (i.e. a dumpster for all of our garbage). I cannot thank Herb enough along with other members of the GWC staff including Minnie Higgins of the Career and Technical Education Division office, Jack Taylor, public safety, and Ron Pryor, Tech Services Support. And last, but not least, the Wireless on campus was absolutely FANTASTIC! Some lessons learned Unless you are a glutton for punishment, as I no doubt am, you most certainly want to give yourself more than six weeks to plan the event. I am lucky that I have a very understanding wife and had a wonderful set of co-coordinators helping me out. A big thanks goes out to Phil, Marlon (Blog | Twitter), Nitin (Twitter), Thomas (Blog | Twitter), Bret (Blog | Twitter), Ben, and Laurie. Thankfully, the sponsor and speaker community was hugely supportive and we were able to fill out the entire event with speakers and sponsors. I have to say that there is not a lot that I would change after this years event. There are obviously going to be some things that we can do better or differently next time, but overall I think it was a great event and I was more than happy with the response we received from the community.   • Warm Reception By Partners at EMEA Manageability Forum

    For the EMEA Partners that were able to attend the event in Istanbul Turkey, thank you for your attendance and feedback at the event. As you can see, the weather kept most of inside during the event and at times there was even some snow.  And while it may have been chilly outside, there was a warm reception from Partners who traveled from all over EMEA to hear from other Oracle Specialized Partners and subject matter experts about the opportunities and benefits of Oracle Enterprise Manager and Exadata Specialization. Here you can see David Robo, Oracle Technology Director for Manageability kicking off the event followed later by Patrick Rood, Oracle Indirect Manageability Business. A special thank you to all the Partner speakers including Ron Tolido, VP and CTO of Application Services Continental Europe Capgemini, who delivered a very innovative keynote where many in attendance learned that Black Swans do exist. And while at break, interactivity among partners continued and it was great to see such innovative partners who had listed their achieved specializations on their business cards.
