    How can I draw a string centred within a rect? I've started off with: (an extract from the drawRect method of my custom view) NSString* theString = ... [theString drawInRect:theRect withAttributes:0]; [theString release]; Now I'm assuming I need to set up some attributes. I've had a look through Apple's Cocoa documentation, but it's a bit overwhelming and can't find anything for how to add paragraph styles to the attributes. Also, I can only find horizontal alignment, what about vertical alignment? Thanks.

  • Cut and paste out of/ into text fields in a separate window doesn't work

    I have a Macintosh Mozilla plugin which puts up a separate window for login information. It seems to work fine, it gets keyboard events like typing and hitting return to hit the default button. HOWEVER, it doesn't seem to get cut and paste events. When I hit Cmd-v, the edit menu flashes, but nothing happnes. Is this a problem with my responder chain? Do I have to specially tell Mozilla that I want these events? or am I likely to have some other problem that I haven't even thought of? thanks.

    I'm attempting to take an NSImage and convert it to a string which I can write in an XML document. My current attempt looks something like this: [xmlDocument setCharacterEncoding: @"US-ASCII"]; NSData* data = [image TIFFRepresentation]; NSString* string = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:data encoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding]; //Put string inside of NSXMLElement, write out NSXMLDocument. Reading back in looks something like this: NSXMLDocument* newXMLDocument = [[NSXMLDocument alloc] initWithData:data options:0 error:outError]; //Here's where it fails. I get: //Error Domain=NSXMLParserErrorDomain Code=9 UserInfo=0x100195310 "Line 7: Char 0x0 out of allowed range" I assume I'm missing something basic. What's up with this encoding issue?

  • Cut off text before read more

    I have texts that most of the time fit in a div, but sometimes it doesn't fit. There is no way to determine how many characters/words/paragraphs fit in the div, so I can't cut it off that way. The div had a fixed height and width, so can we do something with that? Or do you have any suggestion how to get everything in the div, the correct way?

  • Android AlertDialog with dynamically changing text on every request

    I want to show an AlertDialog with one option that might change on every request. So for example at one time I want to show the option "add to contacts" while another time it should be "remove from contacts". My code does work on the first time, however Android seems to cache the AlertDialog so that onCreateDialog is not executed next time. Therefore the option doesnt change anymore.   • Using the FreeType lib to create text bitmaps to draw in OpenGL 3.x

    At the moment I not too sure where my problem is. I can draw loaded images as textures no problem, however when I try to generate a bitmap with a char on it I just get a black box. I am confident that the problem is when I generate and upload the texture. Here is the method for that; the top section of the if statement just draws an texture of a image loaded from file (res/texture.jpg) and that draws perfectly. And the else part of the if statement will try to generate and upload a texture with the char (variable char enter) on.   • Reading a text file

    I am trying to achieve a situation where i load a file into the program. I can use streamreader for this. Each record will be 7 lines long. Therefore lines 1,8,15,22,etc will all hold the same value. As will 2,9,16,23, etc and so on. What is the best way to achieve this? So that when i load the records in the listview, it recognises what i just said. Thanks
