  • HTML element to use as a Javascript message display

    I have a message display field on my website that I'd like to change the value of via JS. I've been using just a textfield, disabling it, and modifying the value via a JS function (after using a little CSS to make it not look like a text field): <input type="text" id="message" style="background: white; color: black" size="50" disabled> There has to be a better way (for instance, formatting is tricky whenever the message runs over the specified size), but I can't think of it off the top of my head. Can anyone point me in a better direction? Thanks! FYI: I am doing a timer function which I'd like to look something like "HH:MM:SS | 'my message here'"

  • Evaluating Javascript Arrays

    I have an array that contains an array of arrays if that makes any sense. so for example: [[1, 2, 3], [2, 3, 4], [3, 4, 5], [4, 5, 6]] I want to see whether an array exists withing the array, so if [1, 2, 3] is duplicated at all. I have tried to use the .indexOf method but it does find the duplicate. I have also tried Extjs to loop through the array manually and to evaluate each inner array, this is how I did it: var arrayToSearch = [[1, 2, 3], [2, 3, 4], [3, 4, 5], [4, 5, 6]]; var newArray = [1, 2, 3]; Ext.each(arrayToSearch, function(entry, index){ console.log(newArray, entry); if(newArray == entry){ console.log(index); }; }); This also does not detect the duplicate. the console.log will output [1, 2, 3] and [1, 2, 3] but will not recognize them as equal. I have also tried the === evaluator but obviously since == doesn't work the === wont work. I am at wits end, any suggestions.

  • asp classic and javascript to check for session status

    Hey all, i am in need of some help with trying to figure out how to go about checking the users session and seeing if they are still logged in or not. The problem being is because i have a static page that pretty much loads everything into "tabs" using jquery. So when they use navigates the page, it really never leaves that same page they started out on. Hints my problem in trying to determine if they are still logged in or not when they click on update their information on their profile or whatnot. Any suggestions/help would be great! :o) David

    I have a simple single-dimension array, let's say: fruits = ["apples","bananas","oranges","peaches","plums"]; I can loop thru with with $.each() function: $.each(fruits, function(index, fruit) { showFruit(fruit); }); but I'm calling to another function which I need to finish before moving on to the next item. So, if I have a function like this: function showFruit(fruit){ $.getScript('some/script.js',function(){ // Do stuff }) } What's the best way to make sure the previous fruit has been appended before moving on?

    Hi, I am trying to update a table based on a json request. The first update / draw works fine - but any subsequent changes to the variables (the start and end date) do not show up - even though the json pulled from the server seems to be correct (according to firebug).   • Javascript Function for related select elements onSubmit

    I am trying to create (4) Select elements within a form element. Each select element has a different number of options. So if a user click one option on Select #1 and then click another option on Select #2, after hitting submit they will be taken to www.blah.com/option1/option2 page which will display the filtered results. Or they can chose an option from all 4 select menus and be taken to option1/option2/option3/option4 page. The categories are all related .Select #1 is a category, Select #2 is a subcategory of 1, Select #3 is a subcategory of #2 and Select #4 is a subcategory of #3. A great example would be on (LINK) http://www.safavieh.com/rugs (LINK) except only four Select elements. I would also like to add the "Reset" button next to "Submit." I know I need to construct a function in my header and use onSubmit attribute within the form but other than that I am unsure of what's involved so I'm hoping someone could point me in the right direction.   • Javascript: Make Rows Draggable Through Input Field Handles

    I have created a table with draggable rows. Unfortunately, most of the rows are covered with a large textbox input element. In order to drag the rows, you have to grab the row on the very edge just outside of the textbox. Is there a way to allow the rows to be grabbed through the textboxes without destroying the textbox functionality? (i.e. relay the mouse drag event, but not the mouseclick event?)

The image name is like 1.gif, 2.gif, .. 6.gif to do that I coded var img = document.createElement("IMG"); img.src = "images/1.gif"; document.getElementById('imgDiv').appendChild(img); but it does not replace the old image how ever it add an another image right in the bottom of first image. syntax for DIV is: <div id="imgDiv" style="width:85px; height:100px; margin:0px 10px 10px 375px;"></div> may u halp me ?

  • Javascript unable to pass parameters into a property acting as a function

    Currently in a simplified form, my code looks like this function AddFileParam(file_id, name, value) { uploadcontrol.addFileParam(file_id, name, value) } uploadcontrol = new Upload() function upload() { //logic } upload.prototype.AddFileParam = function(file_id, name, value) { //logic }; The code is giving me an error as it states that addFileParam is not a valid function. This is caused by the instance of the function upload (aka. uploadcontrol). This is only occuring in Firefox/Chrome and not in IE. Any ideas on how to fix this?

  • Safari javascript cookie issue

    I've hit a bit of a weird issue in Safari in regards to setting a js cookie. The cookie itself is just a rgb colour value, which gets set using .click(), and is working fine in Chrome and Firefox, yet in Safari the value of the cookie is incomplete, showing up as rgb(193 instead of rgb(193, 184, 76) as the other browsers do.   • SharePoint Client JavaScript Documentation

    I'm attempting to improve the usability of a client's SharePoint deployment via JQuery; and am hitting a brick wall when trying to find any sort of documentation of what's happening in core.js (aside from painfully digging through and trying to parse any sort of meaning out of it --all 250kb of it!!!!--) Anyone have any pointers, or documentation? EDIT: Sorry, to clarify my question, i'm familiar with using JQuery with SharePoint. My question involves hooking JQuery into SharePoint's own client API. My question is inspired by this post http://www.codefornuts.com/2009/09/forcing-sharepoint-into-asynchronous.html# ; where the author is overriding methods such as "SubmitFormPost" and "STSNavigate" in order to make the UI interaction more "AJAXy".

    I'm interested in using the Module Pattern to better organize my future projects. Unfortunately, there are only a few brief tutorials and proof-of-concept examples of the Module Pattern. Using the module pattern, I would like to organize projects into this sort of structure: project.arm.object.method(); Where "project" is my global project name, "arm" is a sub-section or branch of the project, "object" is an individual object, and so on to the methods and properties. However, I'm not sure how I should be declaring and organizing multiple "arms" and "objects" under "project". var project = window.project || {}; project.arm = project.arm || {}; project.arm.object = (function() { var privateVar = "Private contents."; function privateMethod() { alert(privateVar); } return { method: privateMethod }; }()); Are there any best practices or conventions when defining a complex module structure?   • Finding matches between multiple JavaScript Arrays

    I have multiple arrays with string values and I want to compare them and only keep the matching results that are identical between ALL of them. Given this example code: var arr1 = ['apple', 'orange', 'banana', 'pear', 'fish', 'pancake', 'taco', 'pizza']; var arr2 = ['taco', 'fish', 'apple', 'pizza']; var arr3 = ['banana', 'pizza', 'fish', 'apple']; I would like to to produce the following array that contains matches from all given arrays: ['apple', 'fish', 'pizza'] I know I can combine all the arrays with var newArr = arr1.concat(arr2, arr3); but that just give me an array with everything, plus the duplicates. Can this be done easily without needing the overhead of libraries such as underscore.js? (Great, and now i'm hungry too!) EDIT I suppose I should mention that there could be an unknown amount of arrays, I was just using 3 as an example.

  • Javascript in chrome plugin has syntax error

What's wrong with that? A friend thinks I need to escape some characters somewhere. Thanks for the help!
