  • Ajax problem not displaying data using multiple javascript calls...

    - by Ronedog
    I'm writing an app that uses ajax to retrieve data from a mysql db using php. Because of the nature of the app, the user clicks an href link that has an "onclick" event used to call the javascript/ajax. I'm retrieving the data from mysql, then calling a separate php function which creates a small html table with the necessary data in it. The new table gets passed back to the responseText and is displayed inside a div tag. The tables only have around 10-20 rows of data in them. This functionality is working fine and displays the data in html form exactly as it needs to be on the page. The problem is this. the HREF "onclick" event needs to run multiple scripts one right after the other. The first script updates the "existing" data and inside the "update_existing" function is a call to refresh a section of the page with the updated HTML from the responseText. Then when that is done a "display_html" function is called which also updates a different section of the page with it's newly created HTML table. The event looks like this: Update This string gets built dynamically using php with parameters supplied, but for this example I simply took the parameters out so it didn't get confusing. The "update_existion() function actually calls the display_html() function which updates a section of the page as needed. I need to update a different section of the page on the same click of the mouse right after the update, which is why I'm calling the display_html() again, right after it. The problem is only the last call is being updated on my screen. In other words, the 2nd function call "display_html()" executes and displays the refreshed data just fine, but the previous call to update_existing() runs and updates the database properly, but doesn't display on the screen unless I press the browsers "refresh" button, which of course displays the new data exactly how I want it to, but I don't want the users to have to press the "refresh" button. I tried adding multiple "display_html() calls one right after the other, separating all of them with the semicolon and learned that only the very last function call actually refreshed the div element on the html page with the table information, although all the previous display_html() calls worked, they couldn't be seen on the page without a refresh of the browser. Is this a problem with javascript, or the ajax call, or is this a limitation in the DOM that only allows one element to be updated at a time. The ajax call is asynchroneous, but I've tried both, only async works period. This is the same in both Firefox and Internet Explorer Any ideas what's going on and how to get around it so I can run these multiple scripts?

  • Winforms: calling entry form function from a different class

    - by samy
    I'm kinda new to programming and got a question on what is a good practice. I created a class that represents a ball and it has a function Jump() that use 2 timers and get the ball up and down. I know that in Winforms you got to call Invalidate() every time you want to repaint the screen, or part of it. I didn't find a good way to do that, so I reference the form in my class, and called Invalidate() inside my ball class every time I need to repaint to ball movement. (this works but I got a feeling that this is not a good practice) Here is the class I created: public class Ball { public Form1 parent;//----> here is the reference to the form public Rectangle ball; Size size; public Point p; Timer timerBallGoUp = new Timer(); Timer timerBallGDown = new Timer(); public int ballY; public Ball(Size _size, Point _p) { size = _size; p = _p; ball = new Rectangle(p, size); } public void Jump() { ballY = p.Y; timerBallGDown.Elapsed += ballGoDown; timerBallGDown.Interval = 50; timerBallGoUp.Elapsed += ballGoUp; timerBallGoUp.Interval = 50; timerBallGoUp.Start(); } private void ballGoUp(object obj,ElapsedEventArgs e) { p.Y++; ball.Location = new Point(ball.Location.X, p.Y); if (p.Y >= ballY + 50) { timerBallGoUp.Stop(); timerBallGDown.Start(); } parent.Invalidate(); // here i call parent.Invalidate() 1 } private void ballGoDown(object obj, ElapsedEventArgs e) { p.Y--; ball.Location = new Point(ball.Location.X, p.Y); if (p.Y <= ballY) { timerBallGDown.Stop(); timerBallGoUp.Start(); } parent.Invalidate(); // here i call parent.Invalidate() 2 } } I'm wondring if there is a better way to do that? (sorry for my english)

  • Queue ExternalInterface calls to Flash Object in UpdatePanel - Needs Improvement?

    - by Laramie
    A Flash (actually Flex) object is created on an ASP.Net page within an Update Panel using a modified version of the embedCallAC_FL_RunContent.js script so it can be written in dynamically. It is re-created with this script with each partial postback to that panel. There are also other Update Panels on the page. With some postbacks (partial and full), External Interface calls such as $get('FlashObj').ExternalInterfaceFunc('arg1', 0, true); are prepared server-side and added to the page using ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript. They're embedded in a function and stuffed into Sys.Application's load event, for example Sys.Application.add_load(funcContainingExternalInterfaceCalls). The problem is that because the Flash object's state state may change with each partial postback, the Flash (Flex) object and/or External Interface may not be ready or even exist yet in the DOM when the JavaScript - Flash External Interface call is made. It results in an "Object doesn't support this property or method" exception. I have a working strategy to make the ExternalInterface calls immediately if Flash is ready or else queue them until such time that Flash announces its readiness. //Called when the Flash object is initialized and can accept ExternalInterfaceCalls var flashReady = false; //Called by Flash when object is fully initialized function setFlashReady() { flashReady = true; //Make any queued ExternalInterface calls, then dequeue while (extIntQueue.length > 0) (extIntQueue.shift())(); } var extIntQueue = []; function callExternalInterface(flashObjName, funcName, args) { //reference to the wrapped ExternalInterface Call var wrapped = extWrap(flashObjName, funcName, args); //only procede with ExternalInterface call if the global flashReady variable has been set if (flashReady) { wrapped(); } else { //queue the function so when flashReady() is called next, the function is called and the aruments are passed. extIntQueue.push(wrapped); } } //bundle ExtInt call and hold variables in a closure function extWrap(flashObjName, funcName, args) { //put vars in closure return function() { var funcCall = '$get("' + flashObjName + '").' + funcName; eval(funcCall).apply(this, args); } } I set the flashReady var to dirty whenever I update the Update Panel that contains the Flash (Flex) object. ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(parentContainer, parentContainer.GetType(), "flashReady", "flashReady = false;", true); I'm pleased that I got it to work, but it feels like a hack. I am still on the learning curve with respect to concepts like closures why "eval()" is apparently evil, so I'm wondering if I'm violating some best practice or if this code should be improved, if so how? Thanks.

  • AccessControlException: access denied - caller function failed to load properties file

    - by Michael Mao
    Hi all: I am having a jar archive environment which is gonna call my class in a folder like this: java -jar "emarket.jar" ../tournament 100 My compiled class is deployed into the ../tournament folder, this command runs well. After I changed my code to load a properties file, it gets the following exception message: Exception in thread "main" java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission agent.properties read) at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(Unknown Source) at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPermission(Unknown Source) at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkRead(Unknown Source) at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(Unknown Source) at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(Unknown Source) at Agent10479475.getPropertiesFromConfigFile(Agent10479475.java:110) at Agent10479475.<init>(Agent10479475.java:100) at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(Unknown Source) at sun.reflect.DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(Unknown Source) at java.lang.reflect.Constructor.newInstance(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Class.newInstance0(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Class.newInstance(Unknown Source) at emarket.client.EmarketSandbox.instantiateClientObjects(EmarketSandbox.java:92) at emarket.client.EmarketSandbox.<init>(EmarketSandbox.java:27) at emarket.client.EmarketSandbox.main(EmarketSandbox.java:166) I am wondering why this security checking will fail. I issue the getPropertitiesFromConfigFile() function inside my class's default constructor, like this: public class Agent10479475 extends AbstractClientAgent { //default constructor public Agent10479475() { //set all properties to their default values in constructor FT_THRESHOLD = 400; FT_THRESHOLD_MARGIN = 50; printOut("Now loading properties from a config file...", ""); getPropertiesFromConfigFile(); printOut("Finished loading",""); } private void getPropertiesFromConfigFile() { Properties props = new Properties(); try { props.load(new FileInputStream("agent.properties")); FT_THRESHOLD = Long.parseLong(props.getProperty("FT_THRESHOLD")); FT_THRESHOLD_MARGIN = Long.parseLong(props.getProperty("FT_THRESHOLD_MARGIN ")); } catch(java.io.FileNotFoundException fnfex) { printOut("CANNOT FIND PROPERTIES FILE :", fnfex); } catch(java.io.IOException ioex) { printOut("IOEXCEPTION OCCURED :", ioex); } } } My class is loading its own .properties file under the same folder. why would the Java environment complains about such a denial of access? Must I config the emarket.client.EmarketSandbox class, which is not written by me and stored inside the emarket.jar, to access my agent.properties file? Any hints or suggestions is much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

  • PHP 5.2 Function needed for GENERIC sorting of a recordset array

    - by donbriggs
    Somebody must have come up with a solution for this by now. We are using PHP 5.2. (Don't ask me why.) I wrote a PHP class to display a recordset as an HTML table/datagrid, and I wish to expand it so that we can sort the datagrid by whichever column the user selects. In the below example data, we may need to sort the recordset array by Name, Shirt, Assign, or Age fields. I will take care of the display part, I just need help with sorting the data array. As usual, I query a database to get a result, iterate throught he result, and put the records into an assciateiave array. So, we end up with an array of arrays. (See below.) I need to be able to sort by any column in the dataset. However, I will not know the column names at design time, nor will I know if the colums will be string or numeric values. I have seen a ton of solutions to this, but I have not seen a GOOD and GENERIC solution Can somebody please suggest a way that I can sort the recordset array that is GENERIC, and will work on any recordset? Again, I will not know the fields names or datatypes at design time. The array presented below is ONLY an example. UPDATE: Yes, I would love to have the database do the sorting, but that is just not going to happen. The queries that we are running are very complex. (I am not really querying a table of Star Trek characters.) They include joins, limits, and complex WHERE clauses. Writing a function to pick apart the SQL statement to add an ORDER BY is really not an option. Besides, sometimes we already have the array that is a result of the query, rather than the ability to run a new query. Array ( [0] => Array ( [name] => Kirk [shrit] => Gold [assign] => Bridge ) [1] => Array ( [name] => Spock [shrit] => Blue [assign] => Bridge ) [2] => Array ( [name] => Uhura [shrit] => Red [assign] => Bridge ) [3] => Array ( [name] => Scotty [shrit] => Red [assign] => Engineering ) [4] => Array ( [name] => McCoy [shrit] => Blue [assign] => Sick Bay ) )

  • AngularJS service returning promise unit test gives error No more request expected

    - by softweave
    I want to test a service (Bar) that invokes another service (Foo) and returns a promise. The test is currently failing with this error: Error: Unexpected request: GET foo.json No more request expected Here are the service definitions: // Foo service returns new objects having get function returning a promise angular.module('foo', []). factory('Foo', ['$http', function ($http) { function FooFactory(config) { var Foo = function (config) { angular.extend(this, config); }; Foo.prototype = { get: function (url, params, successFn, errorFn) { successFn = successFn || function (response) {}; errorFn = errorFn || function (response) {}; return $http.get(url, {}).then(successFn, errorFn); } }; return new Foo(config); }; return FooFactory; }]); // Bar service uses Foo service angular.module('bar', ['foo']). factory('Bar', ['Foo', function (Foo) { var foo = Foo(); return { getCurrentTime: function () { return foo.get('foo.json', {}, function (response) { return Date.parse(response.data.now); }); } }; }]); Here is my current test: 'use strict'; describe('bar tests', function () { var currentTime, currentTimeInMs, $q, $rootScope, mockFoo, mockFooFactory, Foo, Bar, now; currentTime = "March 26, 2014 13:10 UTC"; currentTimeInMs = Date.parse(currentTime); beforeEach(function () { // stub out enough of Foo to satisfy Bar service: // create mock object with function get: function(url, params, successFn, errorFn) // that promises to return a response with this property // { data: { now: "March 26, 2014 13:10 UTC" }}) mockFoo = { get: function (url, params, successFn, errorFn) { successFn = successFn || function (response) {}; errorFn = errorFn || function (response) {}; // setup deferred promise var deferred = $q.defer(); deferred.resolve({data: { now: currentTime }}); return (deferred.promise).then(successFn, errorFn); } }; // create mock Foo service mockFooFactory = function(config) { return mockFoo; }; module(function ($provide) { $provide.value('Foo', mockFooFactory); }); module('bar'); inject(function (_$q_, _$rootScope_, _Foo_, _Bar_) { $q = _$q_; $rootScope = _$rootScope_; Foo = _Foo_; Bar = _Bar_; }); }); it('getCurrentTime should return currentTimeInMs', function () { Bar.getCurrentTime().then(function (serverCurrentTime) { now = serverCurrentTime; }); $rootScope.$apply(); // resolve Bar promise expect(now).toEqual(currentTimeInMs); }); }); The error is being thrown at $rootScope.$apply(). I also tried using $rootScope.$digest(), but it gives the same error. Thanks in advance for any insight you can give me.

  • Function returning MYSQL_ROW

    - by Gabe
    I'm working on a system using lots of MySQL queries and I'm running into some memory problems I'm pretty sure have to do with me not handling pointers right... Basically, I've got something like this: MYSQL_ROW function1() { string query="SELECT * FROM table limit 1;"; MYSQL_ROW return_row; mysql_init(&connection); // "connection" is a global variable if (mysql_real_connect(&connection,HOST,USER,PASS,DB,0,NULL,0)){ if (mysql_query(&connection,query.c_str())) cout << "Error: " << mysql_error(&connection); else{ resp = mysql_store_result(&connection); //"resp" is also global if (resp) return_row = mysql_fetch_row(resp); mysql_free_result(resp); } mysql_close(&connection); }else{ cout << "connection failed\n"; if (mysql_errno(&connection)) cout << "Error: " << mysql_errno(&connection) << " " << mysql_error(&connection); } return return_row; } And function2(): MYSQL_ROW function2(MYSQL_ROW row) { string query = "select * from table2 where code = '" + string(row[2]) + "'"; MYSQL_ROW retorno; mysql_init(&connection); if (mysql_real_connect(&connection,HOST,USER,PASS,DB,0,NULL,0)){ if (mysql_query(&connection,query.c_str())) cout << "Error: " << mysql_error(&conexao); else{ // My "debugging" shows me at this point `row[2]` is already fubar resp = mysql_store_result(&connection); if (resp) return_row = mysql_fetch_row(resp); mysql_free_result(resp); } mysql_close(&connection); }else{ cout << "connection failed\n"; if (mysql_errno(&connection)) cout << "Error : " << mysql_errno(&connection) << " " << mysql_error(&connection); } return return_row; } And main() is an infinite loop basically like this: int main( int argc, char* args[] ){ MYSQL_ROW row = NULL; while (1) { row = function1(); if(row != NULL) function2(row); } } (variable and function names have been generalized to protect the innocent) But after the 3rd or 4th call to function2, that only uses row for reading, row starts losing its value coming to a segfault error... Anyone's got any ideas why? I'm not sure the amount of global variables in this code is any good, but I didn't design it and only got until tomorrow to fix and finish it, so workarounds are welcome! Thanks!

  • Windows Phone period task, function not executing

    - by Special K.
    I'm trying to execute a code (to parse an XML to be more precisely, and after that I'll toast message the user with some new info's), but the class function AccDetailsDownloaded is not executed (is simply skipped), also the memory usage is ~2mb out of 6, here is my code: if (task is PeriodicTask) { getData(); } else { getData(); } // If debugging is enabled, launch the agent again in one minute. #if DEBUG_AGENT ScheduledActionService.LaunchForTest(task.Name, TimeSpan.FromSeconds(60)); #endif // Call NotifyComplete to let the system know the agent is done working. • Speed up a web service for auto complete and avoid too many method calls.

    - by jphenow
    So I've got my jquery autocomplete 'working,' but its a little fidgety since I call the webservice method each time a keydown() fires so I get lots of methods hanging and sometimes to get the "auto" to work I have to type it out and backspace a bit because i'm assuming it got its return value a little slow. I've limited the query results to 8 to mininmize time. Is there anything i can do to make this a little snappier? This thing seems near useless if I don't get it a little more responsive. javascript $("#clientAutoNames").keydown(function () { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "WebService.asmx/LoadData", data: "{'input':" + JSON.stringify($("#clientAutoNames").val()) + "}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: function (data) { if (data.d != null) { var serviceScript = data.d; } $("#autoNames").html(serviceScript); $('#clientAutoNames').autocomplete({ minLength: 2, source: autoNames, delay: 100, focus: function (event, ui) { $('#project').val(ui.item.label); return false; }, select: function (event, ui) { $('#clientAutoNames').val(ui.item.label); $('#projectid').val(ui.item.value); $('#project-description').html(ui.item.desc); pkey = $('#project-id').val; return false; } }) .data("autocomplete")._renderItem = function (ul, item) { return $("<li></li>") .data("item.autocomplete", item) .append("<a>" + item.label + "<br>" + item.desc + "</a>") .appendTo(ul); } } }); }); WebService.asmx <WebMethod()> _ Public Function LoadData(ByVal input As String) As String Dim result As String = "<script>var autoNames = [" Dim sqlOut As Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader Dim connstring As String = *Datasource* Dim strSql As String = "SELECT TOP 2 * FROM v_Clients WHERE (SearchName Like '" + input + "%') ORDER BY SearchName" Dim cnn As Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection = New Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection(connstring) Dim cmd As Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand = New Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand(strSql, cnn) cnn.Open() sqlOut = cmd.ExecuteReader() Dim c As Integer = 0 While sqlOut.Read() result = result + "{" result = result + "value: '" + sqlOut("ContactID").ToString() + "'," result = result + "label: '" + sqlOut("SearchName").ToString() + "'," 'result = result + "desc: '" + title + " from " + company + "'," result = result + "}," End While result = result + "];</script>" sqlOut.Close() cnn.Close() Return result End Function I'm sure I'm just going about this slightly wrong or not doing a better balance of calls or something. Greatly appreciated!

  • Template class + virtual function = must implement?

    - by sold
    This code: template <typename T> struct A { T t; void DoSomething() { t.SomeFunction(); } }; struct B { }; A<B> a; is easily compiled without any complaints, as long as I never call a.DoSomething(). However, if I define DoSomething as a virtual function, I will get a compile error saying that B doesn't declare SomeFunction. I can somewhat see why it happens (DoSomething should now have an entry in the vtable), but I can't help feeling that it's not really obligated. Plus it sucks. Is there any way to overcome this? EDIT 2: Okay. I hope this time it makes sence: Let's say I am doing intrusive ref count, so all entities must inherit from base class Object. How can I suuport primitive types too? I can define: template <typename T> class Primitive : public Object { T value; public: Primitive(const T &value=T()); operator T() const; Primitive<T> &operator =(const T &value); Primitive<T> &operator +=(const T &value); Primitive<T> &operator %=(const T &value); // And so on... }; so I can use Primitive<int>, Primitive<char>... But how about Primitive<float>? It seems like a problem, because floats don't have a %= operator. But actually, it isn't, since I'll never call operator %= on Primitive<float>. That's one of the deliberate features of templates. If, for some reason, I would define operator %= as virtual. Or, if i'll pre-export Primitive<float> from a dll to avoid link errors, the compiler will complain even if I never call operator %= on a Primitive<float>. If it would just have fill in a dummy value for operator %= in Primitive<float>'s vtable (that raises an exception?), everything would have been fine.

  • refactoring this function in Java

    - by Joel
    Hi folks, I'm learning Java, and I know one of the big complaints about newbie programmers is that we make really long and involved methods that should be broken into several. Well here is one I wrote and is a perfect example. :-D. public void buildBall(){ /* sets the x and y value for the center of the canvas */ double i = ((getWidth() / 2)); double j = ((getHeight() / 2)); /* randomizes the start speed of the ball */ vy = 3.0; vx = rgen.nextDouble(1.0, 3.0); if (rgen.nextBoolean(.05)) vx = -vx; /* creates the ball */ GOval ball = new GOval(i,j,(2 *BALL_RADIUS),(2 * BALL_RADIUS)); ball.setFilled(true); ball.setFillColor(Color.RED); add(ball); /* animates the ball */ while(true){ i = (i + (vx* 2)); j = (j + (vy* 2)); if (i > APPLICATION_WIDTH-(2 * BALL_RADIUS)){ vx = -vx; } if (j > APPLICATION_HEIGHT-(2 * BALL_RADIUS)){ vy = -vy; } if (i < 0){ vx = -vx; } if (j < 0){ vy = -vy; } ball.move(vx + vx, vy + vy); pause(10); /* checks the edges of the ball to see if it hits an object */ colider = getElementAt(i, j); if (colider == null){ colider = getElementAt(i + (2*BALL_RADIUS), j); } if (colider == null){ colider = getElementAt(i + (2*BALL_RADIUS), j + (2*BALL_RADIUS)); } if (colider == null){ colider = getElementAt(i, j + (2*BALL_RADIUS)); } /* If the ball hits an object it reverses direction */ if (colider != null){ vy = -vy; /* removes bricks when hit but not the paddle */ if (j < (getHeight() -(PADDLE_Y_OFFSET + PADDLE_HEIGHT))){ remove(colider); } } } You can see from the title of the method that I started with good intentions of "building the ball". There are a few issues I ran up against: The problem is that then I needed to move the ball, so I created that while loop. I don't see any other way to do that other than just keep it "true", so that means any other code I create below this loop won't happen. I didn't make the while loop a different function because I was using those variables i and j. So I don't see how I can refactor beyond this loop. So my main question is: How would I pass the values of i and j to a new method: "animateBall" and how would I use ball.move(vx + vx, vy + vy); in that new method if ball has been declared in the buildBall method? I understand this is probably a simple thing of better understanding variable scope and passing arguments, but I'm not quite there yet...

    I have a script that shows/hides used via onClick. I can get it to show/hide just fine, but I can't get it to show/'hide everything else'. So what I get is a bunch of open containers when I really want just the one. Javascript: <script> function showfields(fields){ if(document.getElementById(fields).style.display=='none'){ document.getElementById(fields).style.display='block'; } else{ document.getElementById(fields).style.display = 'none'; } } </script> HTML: <div id="hidden" class="steps" style="display: block;"> <div class="section" style="margin-right: 10px;"> <h2>Something</h2> </div> <button class="continue dropdown" id="showLink" onClick="showfields('hidden2');return false;" href="#">Continue</button> </div> <div id="hidden2" class="steps" style="display: block;"> <div class="section" style="margin-right: 10px;"> <h2>Something2</h2> </div> <button class="continue dropdown" id="showLink" onClick="showfields('hidden3');return false;" href="#">Continue</button> </div> <div id="hidden3" class="steps" style="display: block;"> <div class="section" style="margin-right: 10px;"> <h2>Something3</h2> </div> <button class="continue dropdown" id="showLink" onClick="showfields('hidden3');return false;" href="#">Continue</button> </div> <div id="hidden4" class="steps" style="display: block;"> <div class="section" style="margin-right: 10px;"> <h2>Something4</h2> </div> <button class="continue dropdown" id="showLink" onClick="showfields('hidden4');return false;" href="#">Continue</button> </div> Thanks

  • Binary Search Tree Contains Function

    - by Suede
    I am trying to write a "contains" function for a binary search tree. I receive the following error at compile "Unhandled exception at 0x77291CB3 (ntdll.dll) in BST.exe: 0xC00000FD: Stack overflow (parameters: 0x00000001, 0x001E2FFC)." The following is my code. struct Node { int data; Node* leftChild; Node* rightChild; Node() : leftChild(NULL), rightChild(NULL) {} }; struct BST { Node* root; BST() : root(NULL) {} void insert(int value); bool contains(int value); }; void BST::insert(int value) { Node* temp = new Node(); temp->data = value; if(root == NULL) { root = temp; return; } Node* current; current = root; Node* parent; parent = root; current = (temp->data < current->data ? (current->leftChild) : (current->rightChild) while(current != NULL) { parent = current; current = (temp->data < current->data) ? (current->leftChild) : (current->rightChild) } if(temp->data < parent->data) { parent->leftChild = temp; } if(temp->data > parent->data) { parent->rightChild = temp; } } bool BST::contains(int value) { Node* temp = new Node(); temp->data = value; Node* current; current = root; if(temp->data == current->data) { // base case for when node with value is found std::cout << "true" << std::endl; return true; } if(current == NULL) { // base case if BST is empty or if a leaf is reached before value is found std::cout << "false" << std::endl; return false; } else { // recursive step current = (temp->data < current->data) ? (current->leftChild) : (current->rightChild); return contains(temp->data); } } int main() { BST bst; bst.insert(5); bst.contains(4); system("pause"); } As it stands, I would insert a single node with value '5' and I would search the binary search tree for a node with value '4' - thus, I would expect the result to be false.

  • Specializing function template for both std::string and char*

    - by sad_man
    As the title says I want to specialize a function template for both string and char pointer, so far I did this but I can not figure out passing the string parameters by reference. #include <iostream> #include <string> template<typename T> void xxx(T param) { std::cout << "General : "<< sizeof(T) << std::endl; } template<> void xxx<char*>(char* param) { std::cout << "Char ptr: "<< strlen(param) << std::endl; } template<> void xxx<const char* >(const char* param) { std::cout << "Const Char ptr : "<< strlen(param)<< std::endl; } template<> void xxx<const std::string & >(const std::string & param) { std::cout << "Const String : "<< param.size()<< std::endl; } template<> void xxx<std::string >(std::string param) { std::cout << "String : "<< param.size()<< std::endl; } int main() { xxx("word"); std::string aword("word"); xxx(aword); std::string const cword("const word"); xxx(cword); } Also template<> void xxx<const std::string & >(const std::string & param) thing just does not working. If I rearranged the opriginal template to accept parameters as T& then the char * is required to be char * & which is not good for static text in code. Please help !

  • Vim autocommand on BufDelete prevents opening help window

    - by Kyle Strand
    I have the autocommand described here in my .vimrc: http://superuser.com/a/669463/199803 EDIT: Copied into body of question for convenience: function CountListedBuffers() let cnt = 0 for nr in range(1,bufnr("$")) if buflisted(nr) && ! empty(bufname(nr)) let cnt += 1 endif endfor return cnt endfunction function QuitIfLastBuffer() if CountListedBuffers() == 1 :q endif endfunction autocmd BufDelete * :call QuitIfLastBuffer() Bizarrely, though, it seems that if I have exactly one listed buffer, and I try to use the :help command, the help window fails to open (or perhaps opens and is immediately closed). If I comment out that autocommand line in my .vimrc, this behavior no longer occurs. Why is this happening, and how can I fix it? Why would :h even trigger the BufDelete event? EDIT: setting verbosity to level 12, I can see that the BufDelete event is indeed occurring. Here's the portion of the output that looks relevant to me: Executing BufAdd Auto commands for "*" autocommand call <SID>BMAdd() calling function <SNR>6_BMAdd calling function <SNR>6_BMAdd..<SNR>6_BMFilename calling function <SNR>6_BMAdd..<SNR>6_BMFilename..<SNR>6_BMMunge calling function <SNR>6_BMAdd..<SNR>6_BMFilename..<SNR>6_BMMunge..<SNR>6_BMTruncName function <SNR>6_BMAdd..<SNR>6_BMFilename..<SNR>6_BMMunge..<SNR>6_BMTruncName returning '/usr/local/share/vim/vim74/doc' continuing in function <SNR>6_BMAdd..<SNR>6_BMFilename..<SNR>6_BMMunge function <SNR>6_BMAdd..<SNR>6_BMFilename..<SNR>6_BMMunge returning 'help\.txt\ (4)\^I/usr/local/share/vim/vim74/doc' continuing in function <SNR>6_BMAdd..<SNR>6_BMFilename calling function <SNR>6_BMAdd..<SNR>6_BMFilename..<SNR>6_BMHash function <SNR>6_BMAdd..<SNR>6_BMFilename..<SNR>6_BMHash returning #340582286 continuing in function <SNR>6_BMAdd..<SNR>6_BMFilename function <SNR>6_BMAdd..<SNR>6_BMFilename returning #0 continuing in function <SNR>6_BMAdd function <SNR>6_BMAdd returning #0 continuing in BufAdd Auto commands for "*" Executing BufDelete Auto commands for "*" autocommand :call QuitIfLastBuffer()

  • MVC 2 Ajax.Beginform passes returned Html to javascript function

    - by Joe
    Hi, I have a small partial Create Person form in a page above a table of results. I want to be able to post the form to the server, which I can do no problem with ajax.Beginform. <% using (Ajax.BeginForm("Create", new AjaxOptions { OnComplete = "ProcessResponse" })) {%> <fieldset> <legend>Fields</legend> <div class="editor-label"> <%=Html.LabelFor(model => model.FirstName)%> </div> <div class="editor-field"> <%=Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.FirstName)%> <%=Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.FirstName)%> </div> <div class="editor-label"> <%=Html.LabelFor(model => model.LastName)%> </div> <div class="editor-field"> <%=Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.LastName)%> <%=Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.LastName)%> </div> <p> <input type="submit" /> </p> </fieldset> <% } %> Then in my controller I want to be able to post back a partial which is just a table row if the create is successful and append it to the table, which I can do easily with jquery. $('#personTable tr:last').after(data); However, if server validation fails I want to pass back my partial create person form with the validation errors and replace the existing Create Person form. I have tried returning a Json array Controller: return Json(new { Success = true, Html= this.RenderViewToString("PersonSubform",person) }); Javascript: var json_data = response.get_response().get_object(); with a pass/fail flag and the partial rendered as a string using the solition below but that doesnt render the mvc validation controls when the form fails. SO RenderPartialToString So, is there any way I can hand my javascript the out of the box PartialView("PersonForm") as its returned from my ajax.form? Can I pass some addition info as a Json array so I can tell if its pass or fail and maybe add a message? UPDATE I can now pass the HTML of a PartialView to my javascript but I need to pass some additional data pairs like ServerValidation : true/false and ActionMessage : "you have just created a Person Bill". Ideally I would pass a Json array rather than hidden fields in my partial. function ProcessResponse(response) { var html = response.get_data(); $("#campaignSubform").html(html); } Many thanks in advance

  • Copying values of one table to another (how to convert this js function to jQuery)

    - by Sullan
    Hi All, I am stuck with a small problem here.. What i am trying to do is copy description of id's from one table to another. I have writter half of the javascript and can anybody tell me how to convert this function in jquery. I want the description copied from the first table based on the id to the second table. Have done this in jquery using 'contains', (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2449845/comparing-2-tables-column-values-and-copying-the-next-column-content-to-the-secon) since there are 1000 table rows, the explorer crashes. Is there a way to simplify it ??... the code is as follows... the current javascript works when i click on test in the second table, but i want the value to be appended in the second table on page load... pls help <table class="reportTabe"> <tr><td>psx-pdu120v1</td><td class="itemname" id="psx-pdu120v1">some description1</td></tr> <tr><td>psx-pdu120v1</td><td class="itemname" id="psx-pdu120v1">some description1</td></tr> <tr><td>psx-pdu120v3</td><td class="itemname" id="psx-pdu120v3">some description3</td></tr> <tr><td>psx-pdu120v4</td><td class="itemname" id="psx-pdu120v4">some description4</td></tr> <tr><td>psx-pdu120v5</td><td class="itemname" id="psx-pdu120v5">some description5</td></tr> <tr><td>psx-pdu120v6</td><td class="itemname" id="psx-pdu120v6">some description6</td></tr> <tr><td>psx-pdu120v7</td><td class="itemname" id="psx-pdu120v7">some description7</td></tr> <tr><td>psx-pdu120v8</td><td class="itemname" id="psx-pdu120v8">some description8</td></tr> <tr><td>psx-pdu120v9</td><td class="itemname" id="psx-pdu120v9">some description9</td></tr> </table> <table class="data"> <tr><td class="whipItem">psx-pdu120v1</td><td onClick="Javascript:alert(document.getElementById('psx-pdu120v1').innerText)";>test</td></tr> <tr><td class="whipItem">psx-pdu120v3</td><td onClick="Javascript:alert(document.getElementById('psx-pdu120v1').innerText)";>test</td></tr> <tr><td class="whipItem">psx-pdu120v4</td><td onClick="Javascript:alert(document.getElementById('psx-pdu120v5').innerText)";>test</td></tr> <tr><td class="whipItem">psx-pdu120v5</td><td Javascript:this.innerText=document.getElementById('psx-pdu120v4').innerText;></td></tr> <tr><td class="whipItem">psx-pdu120v6</td><td Javascript:this.innerText=document.getElementById('psx-pdu120v5').innerText;></td></tr> <tr><td class="whipItem">psx-pdu120v7</td><td Javascript:this.innerText=document.getElementById('psx-pdu120v6').innerText;></td></tr> <tr><td class="whipItem">psx-pdu120v8</td><td Javascript:this.innerText=document.getElementById('psx-pdu120v7').innerText;></td></tr> <tr><td class="whipItem">psx-pdu120v9</td><td Javascript:this.innerText=document.getElementById('psx-pdu120v8').innerText;></td></tr> </table>

  • undefined reference to function, despite giving reference in c

    - by Jamie Edwards
    I'm following a tutorial, but when it comes to compiling and linking the code I get the following error: /tmp/cc8gRrVZ.o: In function `main': main.c:(.text+0xa): undefined reference to `monitor_clear' main.c:(.text+0x16): undefined reference to `monitor_write' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [obj/main.o] Error 1 What that is telling me is that I haven't defined both 'monitor_clear' and 'monitor_write'. But I have, in both the header and source files. • MVC 2 Ajax.Beginform passes returned Html + Json to javascript function

  • Help with optimizing C# function via C and/or Assembly

    - by MusiGenesis
    I have this C# method which I'm trying to optimize: // assume arrays are same dimensions private void DoSomething(int[] bigArray1, int[] bigArray2) { int data1; byte A1; byte B1; byte C1; byte D1; int data2; byte A2; byte B2; byte C2; byte D2; for (int i = 0; i < bigArray1.Length; i++) { data1 = bigArray1[i]; data2 = bigArray2[i]; A1 = (byte)(data1 >> 0); B1 = (byte)(data1 >> 8); C1 = (byte)(data1 >> 16); D1 = (byte)(data1 >> 24); A2 = (byte)(data2 >> 0); B2 = (byte)(data2 >> 8); C2 = (byte)(data2 >> 16); D2 = (byte)(data2 >> 24); A1 = A1 > A2 ? A1 : A2; B1 = B1 > B2 ? B1 : B2; C1 = C1 > C2 ? C1 : C2; D1 = D1 > D2 ? D1 : D2; bigArray1[i] = (A1 << 0) | (B1 << 8) | (C1 << 16) | (D1 << 24); } } The function basically compares two int arrays. For each pair of matching elements, the method compares each individual byte value and takes the larger of the two. The element in the first array is then assigned a new int value constructed from the 4 largest byte values (irrespective of source). I think I have optimized this method as much as possible in C# (probably I haven't, of course - suggestions on that score are welcome as well). My question is, is it worth it for me to move this method to an unmanaged C DLL? Would the resulting method execute faster (and how much faster), taking into account the overhead of marshalling my managed int arrays so they can be passed to the method? If doing this would get me, say, a 10% speed improvement, then it would not be worth my time for sure. If it was 2 or 3 times faster, then I would probably have to do it. Note: please, no "premature optimization" comments, thanks in advance. This is simply "optimization".
