  • calling jQuery function from Flash

    Hi, i have a problem only with IE: if i try to invoke a JS function from Flash using ExternalInterface i cannot get result if Flash is embedded inside a JQuery dialog; when i make the same thing from a normal html page it runs. How can i invoke ExternalInterface.call to run a function even if flash is inside a dialog? Thanks in advance C.

    In my application, I am using Ext.Ajax.request to load scripts which I execute with eval. The problem is that since it takes time for the AJAX request to complete, code that is executed afterward which needs variables which are in the script loaded in via AJAX. In this example, I show how this is the case.   • JSON Post To Rails From Android

    I'm currently working on an android app that interfaces with a Ruby on Rails app through XML and JSON. I can currently pull all my posts from my website through XML but I can't seem to post via JSON. My app currently builds a JSON object from a form that looks a little something like this: { "post": { "other_param": "1", "post_content": "Blah blah blah" } } On my server I believe the Create method in my Posts Controller is set up correctly: def create @post = current_user.posts.build(params[:post]) respond_to do |format| if @post.save format.html { redirect_to @post, notice: 'Post was successfully created.' } format.json { render json: @post, status: :created, location: @post } format.xml { render xml: @post, status: :created, location: @post } else format.html { render action: "new" } format.json { render json: @post.errors, status: :unprocessable_entity } format.xml { render xml: @post.errors, status: :unprocessable_entity } end end end And in my android app I have a method that takes that JSON Object I posted earlier as a parameter along with the username and password for being authenticated (Authentication is working I've tested it, and yes Simple HTTP authentication is probably not the best choice but its a quick and dirty fix) and it then sends the JSON Object through HTTP POST to the rails server. A route or controller that isn't right? I'd be really grateful if someone could point me in the right direction, because I don't know where to go from here.

  • JQuery timer plugin on ASP.NET MVC Page button click

    Hi I have an ASP.NET MVC Page with a button called "Start Live Meeting". When the User clicks on this button, it calls a controller method called "StartLiveMeeting" that returns a string. If the controller returns empty string, then i want the Timer to call the Controller method until it returns the string. I am using jquery.timer.js plugin ( http://plugins.jquery.com/files/jquery.timers-1.2.js.txt ) On the button click, the controller method is being called. But Timer is not initiating. I have specified 5sec to call the controller method. I appreciate your responses. I can see it when I view source but not in Firebug.   • Why won't jqGrid won't populate initially in Chrome

    Hi, I've got a web page with a jqGrid that uses am xmlreader to populate itself with data that is spat out by a RoR service. The page loads fine in firefox and safari. In Chrome however I get a blank grid.     Updated question on the bottom I am trying to validate a super simple form. Eventually the username will be compared to a RegExp statement and the same will go for the password. However right now I am just trying to learn the Validator addMethod format. I currently have this script: JQuery.validator.addMethod( "legalName", function(value, element) { if (element.value == "bob") { return false; } else return true; }, "Use a valid username." ); $(document).ready(function() { $("#form1").validate({ rules: { username: { legalName: true } }, }); }); Which if I am not mistaken should return false and respond with "Use a valid username." if I were to put "bob" into the form. However, it is simply submitting it. I am linking to JQuery BEFORE Validator in the header like instructed. My uber simple form looks like this: <form id="form1" method="post" action=""> <div class="form-row"><span class="label">Username *</span><input type="text" name="username" /></div> <div class="form-row"><input class="submit" type="submit" value="Submit"></div> </form> Finally how would I go about restructing the addMethod function to return true if and false at the else stage while keeping the message alert for a false return? New Ideally, I am trying to turn this into a simple login form (username/password). It is for demonstration only so it wont have a database attached or anything, just some simple js validations. I am looking to make the username validate for <48 characters, only english letters and numbers, no special characters. I thought a whitelist would be easiest so I had something like this: ^[a-zA-Z0-9]*${1,48} but I am not sure if that is proper JS RegExp (it varies from Ruby RegExp if I am not mistaken?...Usually I use rubular.com). Password will be similar but require some upper/lowercase and numbers. I believe I need to make another $.validator.addMethod for legalPassword that will look very similar.

    Hi, I'm having problems with adding marker clusterer functionality to my map. What I want is to use custom icon for my markers and every marker has its own info window which I want to be able to edit. I did accomplish that, but now I have problems adding marker clusterer library functionality. I read something about adding markers to array, but I'm not sure what would it exactly mean. Besides, all of the examples with array I have found, don't have info windows and searching through the code I didn't find appropriate way to add them.     A web page of a web application was showing a strange error. But when clicking on IMG element it shows a number as if x function got in some way removed from memory or deinstantiated (it does not even show x as "undefined" but as a number). To let you test it quickly I placed the working test above also here. This can be reproduced on both Firefox 3.6 and Safari 4.0.4. Everything works properly only on IE7+. I'm really clueless, I was wondering if x is maybe a reserved keyword in JS Firefox/Safari. Thanks to anyone who could help! FYI: if you repalce x() with z() everything work prefectly in all browsers (this is even more crazy to me) adding a real image in src attribute does not fix the problem removing style in img does not fix the problem (i gave style to image only to help you clicking on image thus you can see the imnage border)

And now I get a warning for "VS Just-In-Time Debugger: Unhandled exception" instead How can I disable all the script error warnings (including JIT debugger) from my code (i mean without modifying the real IE settings)?
