  • Jqeury Validate() special function

    - by kevin
Hi there, i'm using the Jquery validate() plugin for some forms and it goes great. The only thing is that i have an input field that requires a special validation process. Here is how it goes: The Jquery validate plugin is called in the domready for all the required fields. Here is an exemple for an input: <li> <label for="nome">Nome completo*</label> <input name="nome" type="text" id="nome" class="required"/> </li> And here is how i call my special function: <li> <span id="sprytextfield1"> <label for="cpf">CPF* (xxxxxxxxxxx)</label> <input name="cpf" type="text" id="cpf" maxlength="15" class="required" /> <span class="textfieldInvalidFormatMsg">CPF Inv&aacute;lido.</span> </span> </li> And at the bottom of the file i call the Spry function: <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- var sprytextfield1 = new Spry.Widget.ValidationTextField("sprytextfield1","cpf"); //--> </script> Of course i call the Spry css and js files in the head section as well as my special-validate.js. When i just use the Jquery validate() plugin and click on the send button, the page goes automatically back to the first mistaken input field and shows the error type (not a number, not a valid email etc.). But with this new function, this "going-back-to-the-first-mistake" feature doesnt work, of course, because the validate() function sees it all good. I already added a rule for another form (about pictures upload) and it goes like this: $("#commentForm").validate({ rules: { foto34: { required: true, accept: "jpg|png|gif" } } }); Now my question is, how can i add the special validation function as a rule of the whole validation process ? Here is the page to understand it better: link text and the special field is the first one: CPF. Hope i was clear explaining my problem. Thanks in advance. kevin

  • Change Tweetmeme button colour under wordpress

    - by Andrew Bolster
I've had a poke around in the TweetMeme plugin code and IANA JS Guru, but I cant find any sensible way to make specific styling changes; you can add div-specific CSS characteristics, but I'm talking about changing the resting colour and the hover colour of the button. I've googled around and noone seems to have asked it on here so I thought I should.

  • FB Developer: Capture POST variables after multi-friend-selector

    - by Faruz
Using this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/820421/can-i-use-facebooks-fbfriend-selector-in-an-iframe I created a multi-friend selector in my IFRAME FB application. I want to know if the user selected any users for invite so I can reward him with extra points. In the developer WIKI I saw that [ids] is transferred to requested page via POST. But how I can capture the values if I'm using JS/.NET? (Preferably through .NET so I can easily save values in the DB).

  • Why loading of analytics blocks site loading?

    - by HasanGursoy
Stupid government of Turkey have blocked Google's some IPs which were used for YouTube and now we can't access services like: translate, analytics. And the problem is some web-sites do not load until ga.js returns a response or request timeout. Even sometimes I'm expecting slow loading on stackoverflow and page load never completes. How can I make this web sites load faster and skip Google analytics files?

  • Best Practice: Legitimate Cross-Site Scripting

    - by Ryan
While cross-site scripting is generally regarded as negative, I've run into several situations where it's necessary. I was recently working within the confines of a very limiting content management system. I needed to include database code within the page, but the hosting server didn't have anything usable available. I set up a couple barebones scripts on my own server, originally thinking that I could use AJAX to import the contents of my scripts directly into the template of the CMS (thus retaining dynamic images, menu items, CSS, etc.). I was wrong. Due to the limitations of XMLHttpRequest objects, it's not possible to grab content from a different domain. So I thought "iFrame" - even though I'm not a fan of frames, I thought that I could create a frame that matched the width and height of the content, so that it would appear native. Again, I was blocked by cross-site scripting "protections." While I could indeed load a remote file into the iFrame, I couldn't execute JavaScript to modify its size on either the host page or inside the loaded page. In this particular scenario, I wasn't able to point a subdomain to my server. I also couldn't create a script on the CMS server that could proxy content from my server, so my last thought was to use a remote JavaScript. A remote JavaScript works. It breaks when the user has JavaScript disabled, which is a downside; but it works. The "problem" I was having with using a remote JavaScript was that I had to use the JS function document.write() to output any content. Any output that isn't JS causes script errors. In addition to using document.write() for every line, you also have to ensure that the content is escaped - or else you end up with more script errors. My solution was as follows: My script received a GET parameter ("page") and then looked for the file ({$page}.php), and read the contents into a variable. However, I had to use awkward buffering techniques in order to actually execute the included scripts (for things like database interaction) then strip the final content of all line break characters ("\n") followed by escaping all required characters. The end result is that my original script (which outputs JavaScript) accesses seemingly "standard" scripts on my server and converts their standard output to JavaScript for displaying within the CMS template. While this solution works, it seems like there may be a better way to accomplish the same thing. What is the best way to make cross-site scripting work specifically for the purpose of including content from a completely different domain?

  • Cleaning all inline events from HTML tags

    - by Itay Moav
For HTML input, I want to neutralize all HTML elements that have inline js (onclick="..", onmouseout=".." etc). I am thinking, isn't it enough to encode the following chars? =,(,) So onclick="location.href='ggg.com'" will become onclick%3D"location.href%3D'ggg.com'" What am I missing here? Edit: I do need to accept active HTML (I can't escape it all or entities is it).

  • How do I pass a variable number of parameters along with a callback function?

    - by Bungle
I'm using a function to lazy-load the Sizzle selector engine (used by jQuery): var sizzle_loaded; // load the Sizzle script function load_sizzle(module_name) { var script; // load Sizzle script and set up 'onload' and 'onreadystatechange' event // handlers to ensure that external script is loaded before dependent // code is executed script = document.createElement('script'); script.src = 'sizzle.min.js'; script.onload = function() { sizzle_loaded = true; gather_content(module_name); }; script.onreadystatechange = function() { if ((script.readyState === 'loaded' || script.readyState === 'complete') && !sizzle_loaded) { sizzle_loaded = true; gather_content(module_name); } }; // append script to the document document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(script); } I set the onload and onreadystatechange event handlers, as well as the sizzle_loaded flag to call another function (gather_content()) as soon as Sizzle has loaded. All of this is needed to do this in a cross-browser way. Until now, my project only had to lazy-load Sizzle at one point in the script, so I was able to just hard-code the gather_content() function call into the load_sizzle() function. However, I now need to lazy-load Sizzle at two different points in the script, and call a different function either time once it's loaded. My first instinct was to modify the function to accept a callback function: var sizzle_loaded; // load the Sizzle script function load_sizzle(module_name, callback) { var script; // load Sizzle script and set up 'onload' and 'onreadystatechange' event // handlers to ensure that external script is loaded before dependent // code is executed script = document.createElement('script'); script.src = 'sizzle.min.js'; script.onload = function() { sizzle_loaded = true; callback(module_name); }; script.onreadystatechange = function() { if ((script.readyState === 'loaded' || script.readyState === 'complete') && !sizzle_loaded) { sizzle_loaded = true; callback(module_name); } }; // append script to the document document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(script); } Then, I could just call it like this: load_sizzle(module_name, gather_content); However, the other callback function that I need to use takes more parameters than gather_content() does. How can I modify my function so that I can specify a variable number of parameters, to be passed with the callback function? Or, am I going about this the wrong way? Ultimately, I just want to load Sizzle, then call any function that I need to (with any arguments that it needs) once it's done loading. Thanks for any help!

  • Any way to cache WAV files in IE?

    - by Dan Howard
I'm seeing an issue with our web application. We have a few wave files which we can play (like ding.wav) and we have attempted to pre-load wave files but using Fiddler we're seeing that the WAV files are never cached like (js and css and image files). We always see an HTTP 200 instead of an HTTP 304. Any ideas on how to tell IE that it should cache wav files? We're inserting a div: <EMBED SRC='ding.wav' AUTOSTART='FALSE' HIDDEN='TRUE'>

  • Javascript, language files, configuration

    - by johnnyArt
I'm building a form validation script for one of my sites, and I thought I'd make the error messages international, meaning that depending on the users language I'd give such or such response. What would the best approach be, for loading a configuration file inside of my class? Right now I'm using the following structure for a single language: const config = { 'errorName' : 'error message', 'errorName2' : 'error message', 'errorName2' : 'error message' } And calling it like this of course: config['errorName']. But I don't know how to load those variables from a file, let's say 'lang/en.js'

  • Frameworks for JavaScript UI Widgets?

    - by ChrisInCambo
I'm trying to put together a list of JavaScript UI widget frameworks for consideration in a project. Ideally it would be a library that has a range of ready made ui widgets, no dependencies on dom/js extention/manipulation frameworks like JQuery or Prototype, minimal additional cruft, such as Ajax API's and DOM selectors etc. Here's what I have so far: qooxdoo, ScriptClient ExtJs Could anyone suggest any other that are worth a look? Please do not suggest, JQuery, Prototype, Mootools, Dojo etc, their primary focus is not to provide ui widgets.

  • Determining when scrolled to bottom of a page with Javascript

    - by chimerical
I'm trying to determine when I've scrolled to the bottom of the page (without using any JS library), but so far, I'm a bit confused over which one of the following to use. The most promising one I've seen is window.scrollY, but even when scrolled to the bottom of the page, it never matches the value of window.innerHeight. What's the best way to do this? window.innerWidth window.innerHeight window.outerWidth window.outerHeight window.scrollX window.scrollY document.body.scrollWidth document.body.scrollHeight document.body.scrollTop document.body.scrollLeft document.body.offsetTop document.body.offsetLeft document.body.offsetWidth document.body.offsetHeight
