  • C# : Problem in creating diffrent types of columns in a gridview

    - by Royson
    My windows form application has a grid view control with filename as a default column. User should create a column of following types Text, Number, Currency, Combo Box, Check Box, Radio Button ,Date time type (should display DateTimePicker control) and Hyper Link type. After that i want to pass all rows to next screen for further processing. We can create a column of these types in a grid view but how can i store it in a data table so that i can pass it to next screen. Or should i create a column in a data table and then assign data table to grid view by gridview.DataSource = dt; but can we create a these types of columns in a data table. I am so confused!! Please help me to solve this problem. Thanks

  • How to bind a label inside a gridview to another table?

    - by Kolten
    I have a very standard Gridview, with Edit and Delete buttons auto-generated. It is bound to a tableadapter which is linked to my "RelationshipTypes" table. dbo.RelationshipTypes: ID, Name, OriginConfigTypeID, DestinationConfigTypeID I wish to use a label that will pull the name from the ConfigTypes table, using the "OriginConfigTypeID" and "DestinationTypeID" as the link. dbo.ConfigTypes: ID, Name My problem is, I can't automatically generate Edit and Delete buttons using an Inner Join in my dataset. Or can I? FOllowing is my code: <asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" AutoGenerateDeleteButton="True" AutoGenerateEditButton="True" CssClass="TableList" DataKeyNames="ID" DataSourceID="dsRelationShipTypes1"> <Columns> <asp:BoundField DataField="ID" HeaderText="ID" InsertVisible="False" ReadOnly="True" SortExpression="ID" Visible=False/> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Origin" SortExpression="OriginCIType_ID"> <EditItemTemplate> &nbsp;<asp:DropDownList Enabled=true ID="DropDownList2" runat="server" DataSourceID="dsCIType1" DataTextField="Name" DataValueField="ID" SelectedValue='<%# Bind("OriginCIType_ID") %>'> </asp:DropDownList> </EditItemTemplate> <ItemTemplate> &nbsp; <asp:Label ID="Label2" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("OriginCIType_ID") %>'></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Name" SortExpression="Name"> <EditItemTemplate> <asp:TextBox ID="TextBox3" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("Name") %>'></asp:TextBox> </EditItemTemplate> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="Label3" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("Name") %>'></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Destination" SortExpression="DestinationCIType_ID"> <EditItemTemplate> <asp:DropDownList ID="DropDownList3" runat="server" DataSourceID="dsCIType1" DataTextField="Name" DataValueField="ID" SelectedValue='<%# Bind("DestinationCIType_ID") %>'> </asp:DropDownList> </EditItemTemplate> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="Label1" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("DestinationCIType_ID") %>'></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> </Columns> </asp:GridView> So I did try to create my own edit and delete buttons, but kept receiving the error "cannot find update method" or something similar. Do I have to manually code the delete and update methods in my code-behind?

  • "Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement". Why?

    - by Kevin
    My code is below. I have a method where I pass in three parameters and they get written out to an MS Access database table. However, I keep getting a syntax error message. Can anyone tell me why? I got this example from the internet. private static void insertRecord(string day, int hour, int loadKW) { string connString = @"Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=C:\LoadForecastDB.accdb"; OleDbConnection conn = new OleDbConnection(connString); string ins = @"INSERT INTO Forecasts (Day, Hour, Load) VALUES (?,?,?)"; OleDbCommand cmd = new OleDbCommand(ins, conn); cmd.Parameters.Add("@day", OleDbType.VarChar).Value = day; cmd.Parameters.Add("@hour", OleDbType.Integer).Value = hour; cmd.Parameters.Add("@load", OleDbType.Integer).Value = loadKW; conn.Open(); try { int count = cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); } catch (OleDbException ex) { Console.WriteLine(ex.Message); } finally { conn.Close(); } }

  • Static DataTable or DataSet in a class - bad idea?

    - by Superbest
    I have several instances of a class. Each instance stores data in a common database. So, I thought "I'll make the DataTable table field static, that way every instance can just add/modify rows to its own table field, but all the data will actually be in one place!" However, apparently it's a bad idea to do use static fields, especially if it's databases: Don't Use "Static" in C#? Is this a bad idea? Will I run into problems later on if I use it? This is a small project so I can accept no testing as a compromise if that is the only drawback. The benefit of using a static database is that there can be many objects of type MyClass, but only one table they all talk to, so a static field seems to be an implementation of exactly this, while keeping syntax concise. I don't see why I shouldn't use a static field (although I wouldn't really know) but if I had to, the best alternative I can think of is creating one DataTable, and passing a reference to it when creating each instance of MyClass, perhaps as a constructor parameter. But is this really an improvement? It seems less intuitive than a static field.

  • Assign a unique client ID to each <rich:dataTable /> row?

    - by Dolph Mathews
    I'm relatively new to working with the UI in Seam, so I'm hoping there is something simple I can replace the three instances of UNIQUE_ID with in the following example (such as #{object.uniqueId}). The goal is to have a <rich:dataTable /> wherein each row has the ability to show/hide a <rich:modalPanel /> with more details about the particular object instance. <rich:dataTable var="object" value="#{bean.myObject}"> <rich:column> <h:outputText value="#{object.summary}" /> </rich:column> <rich:column> <a onclick="Richfaces.showModalPanel('UNIQUE_ID');" href="#">Show Details in ModalPanel</a> <a4j:form> <rich:modalPanel id="UNIQUE_ID" > <a onclick="Richfaces.hideModalPanel('UNIQUE_ID');" href="#">Hide This ModalPanel</a> <h:outputText value="#{object.details}" /> </rich:modalPanel> </a4j:form> </rich:column> </rich:dataTable> If I only had one link/modalPanel pair, this would obviously be trivial, but I don't know what to do within the scope of the <rich:dataTable />'s iteration. Also, in case it complicates things further, the page will also contain many <rich:dataTable />'s, each implementing this behavior.

  • Is there added overhead to looking up a column in a DataTable by name rather than by index?

    - by Ben McCormack
    In a DataTable object, is there added overhead to looking up a column value by name thisRow("ColumnA") rather than by the column index thisRow(0)? In which scenarios might this be an issue. I work on a team that has lots of experience writing VB6 code and I noticed that didn't do column lookups by name for DataTable objects or data grids. Even in .NET code, we use a set of integer constants to reference column names in these types of objects. I asked our team lead why this was so, and he mentioned that in VB6, there was a lot of overhead in looking up data by column name rather than by index. Is this still true for .NET? Example code (in VB.NET, but same applies to C#): Public Sub TestADOData() Dim dt As New DataTable 'Set up the columns in the DataTable ' dt.Columns.Add(New DataColumn("ID", GetType(Integer))) dt.Columns.Add(New DataColumn("Name", GetType(String))) dt.Columns.Add(New DataColumn("Description", GetType(String))) 'Add some data to the data table ' dt.Rows.Add(1, "Fred", "Pitcher") dt.Rows.Add(3, "Hank", "Center Field") 'Method 1: By Column Name ' For Each r As DataRow In dt.Rows Console.WriteLine( _ "{0,-2} {1,-10} {2,-30}", r("ID"), r("Name"), r("Description")) Next Console.WriteLine() 'Method 2: By Column Name ' For Each r As DataRow In dt.Rows Console.WriteLine("{0,-2} {1,-10} {2,-30}", r(0), r(1), r(2)) Next End Sub Is there an case where method 2 provides a performance advantage over method 1?

  • h:commandButton action not working inside a h:datatable.

    - by Chris
    I'm stuck with this piece of jsf code that I don't understand why it's working when used outside a datatable and doesn't inside a datatable... <h:dataTable id="myTable" rendered="true" value="#{bean.selectedItemsList}" var="items"> <h:column> <h:commandButton action="#{bean.removeItemFromList}" image="/resources/images/deleterow.gif"> <f:actionListener binding="#{bean.actionListenerImpl}" type="com.mycorp.ActionListenerImpl"/> </h:commandButton> </h:column> <h:column> <h:outputText value="#{items}" /> </h:column> </h:dataTable> I read around the net to put value="#{items}" inside the action listener so the action can get the items in the row like this: <f:actionListener value="#{items}" binding="#{bean.actionListenerImpl}" type="com.mycorp.ActionListenerImpl"/> But it's doesn't work either. Bu if I do the action outside the data table everything work fine. <h:commandButton action="#{bean.removeItemFromList}" image="/resources/images/deleterow.gif"> <f:actionListener binding="#{bean.actionListenerImpl}" type="com.mycorp.ActionListenerImpl"/> </h:commandButton> Side note I also tried a4j:commandButton and didn't so I guess my problem is probably the actionlistener or how the bean handling it.

  • Using a WPF ListView as a DataGrid

    - by psheriff
    Many people like to view data in a grid format of rows and columns. WPF did not come with a data grid control that automatically creates rows and columns for you based on the object you pass it. However, the WPF Toolkit can be downloaded from CodePlex.com that does contain a DataGrid control. This DataGrid gives you the ability to pass it a DataTable or a Collection class and it will automatically figure out the columns or properties and create all the columns for you and display the data.The DataGrid control also supports editing and many other features that you might not always need. This means that the DataGrid does take a little more time to render the data. If you want to just display data (see Figure 1) in a grid format, then a ListView works quite well for this task. Of course, you will need to create the columns for the ListView, but with just a little generic code, you can create the columns on the fly just like the WPF Toolkit’s DataGrid. Figure 1: A List of Data using a ListView A Simple ListView ControlThe XAML below is what you would use to create the ListView shown in Figure 1. However, the problem with using XAML is you have to pre-define the columns. You cannot re-use this ListView except for “Product” data. <ListView x:Name="lstData"          ItemsSource="{Binding}">  <ListView.View>    <GridView>      <GridViewColumn Header="Product ID"                      Width="Auto"               DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Path=ProductId}" />      <GridViewColumn Header="Product Name"                      Width="Auto"               DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Path=ProductName}" />      <GridViewColumn Header="Price"                      Width="Auto"               DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Path=Price}" />    </GridView>  </ListView.View></ListView> So, instead of creating the GridViewColumn’s in XAML, let’s learn to create them in code to create any amount of columns in a ListView. Create GridViewColumn’s From Data TableTo display multiple columns in a ListView control you need to set its View property to a GridView collection object. You add GridViewColumn objects to the GridView collection and assign the GridView to the View property. Each GridViewColumn object needs to be bound to a column or property name of the object that the ListView will be bound to. An ADO.NET DataTable object contains a collection of columns, and these columns have a ColumnName property which you use to bind to the GridViewColumn objects. Listing 1 shows a sample of reading and XML file into a DataSet object. After reading the data a GridView object is created. You can then loop through the DataTable columns collection and create a GridViewColumn object for each column in the DataTable. Notice the DisplayMemberBinding property is set to a new Binding to the ColumnName in the DataTable. C#private void FirstSample(){  // Read the data  DataSet ds = new DataSet();  ds.ReadXml(GetCurrentDirectory() + @"\Xml\Product.xml");    // Create the GridView  GridView gv = new GridView();   // Create the GridView Columns  foreach (DataColumn item in ds.Tables[0].Columns)  {    GridViewColumn gvc = new GridViewColumn();    gvc.DisplayMemberBinding = new Binding(item.ColumnName);    gvc.Header = item.ColumnName;    gvc.Width = Double.NaN;    gv.Columns.Add(gvc);  }   // Setup the GridView Columns  lstData.View = gv;  // Display the Data  lstData.DataContext = ds.Tables[0];} VB.NETPrivate Sub FirstSample()  ' Read the data  Dim ds As New DataSet()  ds.ReadXml(GetCurrentDirectory() & "\Xml\Product.xml")   ' Create the GridView  Dim gv As New GridView()   ' Create the GridView Columns  For Each item As DataColumn In ds.Tables(0).Columns    Dim gvc As New GridViewColumn()    gvc.DisplayMemberBinding = New Binding(item.ColumnName)    gvc.Header = item.ColumnName    gvc.Width = [Double].NaN    gv.Columns.Add(gvc)  Next   ' Setup the GridView Columns  lstData.View = gv  ' Display the Data  lstData.DataContext = ds.Tables(0)End SubListing 1: Loop through the DataTable columns collection to create GridViewColumn objects A Generic Method for Creating a GridViewInstead of having to write the code shown in Listing 1 for each ListView you wish to create, you can create a generic method that given any DataTable will return a GridView column collection. Listing 2 shows how you can simplify the code in Listing 1 by setting up a class called WPFListViewCommon and create a method called CreateGridViewColumns that returns your GridView. C#private void DataTableSample(){  // Read the data  DataSet ds = new DataSet();  ds.ReadXml(GetCurrentDirectory() + @"\Xml\Product.xml");   // Setup the GridView Columns  lstData.View =      WPFListViewCommon.CreateGridViewColumns(ds.Tables[0]);  lstData.DataContext = ds.Tables[0];} VB.NETPrivate Sub DataTableSample()  ' Read the data  Dim ds As New DataSet()  ds.ReadXml(GetCurrentDirectory() & "\Xml\Product.xml")   ' Setup the GridView Columns  lstData.View = _      WPFListViewCommon.CreateGridViewColumns(ds.Tables(0))  lstData.DataContext = ds.Tables(0)End SubListing 2: Call a generic method to create GridViewColumns. The CreateGridViewColumns MethodThe CreateGridViewColumns method will take a DataTable as a parameter and create a GridView object with a GridViewColumn object in its collection for each column in your DataTable. C#public static GridView CreateGridViewColumns(DataTable dt){  // Create the GridView  GridView gv = new GridView();  gv.AllowsColumnReorder = true;   // Create the GridView Columns  foreach (DataColumn item in dt.Columns)  {    GridViewColumn gvc = new GridViewColumn();    gvc.DisplayMemberBinding = new Binding(item.ColumnName);    gvc.Header = item.ColumnName;    gvc.Width = Double.NaN;    gv.Columns.Add(gvc);  }   return gv;} VB.NETPublic Shared Function CreateGridViewColumns _  (ByVal dt As DataTable) As GridView  ' Create the GridView  Dim gv As New GridView()  gv.AllowsColumnReorder = True   ' Create the GridView Columns  For Each item As DataColumn In dt.Columns    Dim gvc As New GridViewColumn()    gvc.DisplayMemberBinding = New Binding(item.ColumnName)    gvc.Header = item.ColumnName    gvc.Width = [Double].NaN    gv.Columns.Add(gvc)  Next   Return gvEnd FunctionListing 3: The CreateGridViewColumns method takes a DataTable and creates GridViewColumn objects in a GridView. By separating this method out into a class you can call this method anytime you want to create a ListView with a collection of columns from a DataTable. SummaryIn this blog you learned how to create a ListView that acts like a DataGrid. You are able to use a DataTable as both the source of the data, and for creating the columns for the ListView. In the next blog entry you will learn how to use the same technique, but for Collection classes. • Visualforce dataTable: is there a way to stop it from rendering cellpadding attribute?

    - by codeulike
    In Visualforce, I'm using an <apex:dataTable> component as follows: <apex:dataTable value="{!Qualifications}" var="qual" styleClass="cv_table" > <!-- etc... --> ... and then I'm using CSS to style the table, via the class name. Trouble is, VisualForce renders HTML like this: <table class="cv_table" id="j_id0:j_id26" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <!-- etc... --> The class attribute is there as I wanted, but there's also cellpadding and cellspacing specified, that interfere with my CSS. Is there a way to stop Visualforce from rendering the cellpadding and cellspacing attributes for an <apex:dataTable>?

  • How to speed up dumping a DataTable into an Excel worksheet?

    - by AngryHacker
    I have the following routine that dumps a DataTable into an Excel worksheet. private void RenderDataTableOnXlSheet(DataTable dt, Excel.Worksheet xlWk, string [] columnNames, string [] fieldNames) { // render the column names (e.g. headers) for (int i = 0; i < columnNames.Length; i++) xlWk.Cells[1, i + 1] = columnNames[i]; // render the data for (int i = 0; i < fieldNames.Length; i++) { for (int j = 0; j < dt.Rows.Count; j++) { xlWk.Cells[j + 2, i + 1] = dt.Rows[j][fieldNames[i]].ToString(); } } } For whatever reason, dumping DataTable of 25 columns and 400 rows takes about 10-15 seconds on my relatively modern PC. Takes even longer testers' machines. Is there anything I can do to speed up this code? Or is interop just inherently slow?

  • Passing a DataTable into a Stored Procedure. Is there a better way?

    - by punkouter
    Can A datatable somehow be passed into SQL Server 2005 or 2008 ? I know the standard way seesm to be passing XML to a SP. And a datatable can easily be converted to XML somehow to do that. What about passing a .NET object into a SP ? Is that possible ? I remember hearing about SQL and CLR working together in 2008 somehow but I never understood.. Maybe that means you can refer to .NET objects within a Stored Procedure ?

  • Does subTable support reRender?

    - by Tom
    Here is a minimal rich:dataTable with an a4j:commandLink inside. When clicked it sends an AJAX request to my bean and reRenders the dataTable. <rich:dataTable id="dataTable" value="#{carManager.all}" var="item"> <rich:column> <f:facet name="header">name</f:facet> <h:outputText value="#{item.name}" /> </rich:column> <rich:column> <f:facet name="header">action</f:facet> <a4j:commandLink reRender="dataTable" value="Delete" action="#{carForm.delete}"> <f:setPropertyActionListener value="#{item.id}" target="#{carForm.id}" /> <f:param name="from" value="list" /> </a4j:commandLink> </rich:column> </rich:dataTable> The exmaple obove works fine so far. But when I add a rich:subTable to the table, reRendering fails... <rich:dataTable id="dataTable" value="#{garageManager.all}" var="garage"> <f:facet name="header"> <rich:columnGroup> <rich:column>name</rich:column> <rich:column>action</rich:column> </rich:columnGroup> </f:facet> <rich:column colspan="2"> <h:outputText value="#{garage.name}" /> </rich:column> <rich:subTable value="#{garage.cars}" var="car"> <rich:column><h:ouputText value="#{car.name}" /></rich:column> <rich:column> <a4j:commandLink reRender="dataTable" value="Delete" action="#{carForm.delete}"> <f:setPropertyActionListener value="#{item.id}" target="#{carForm.id}" /> <f:param name="from" value="list" /> </a4j:commandLink> </rich:column> </rich:column> </rich:dataTable> Now the rich:dataTable is not rerendered but the item gets deleted since the item does not show up after a complete page refresh. Does subTable support reRender the way i'd like to use it here? Tanks Tom

  • How to get selected row index in JSF datatable?

    - by Nitesh Panchal
    I have a databale on index.xhtml <h:dataTable style="border: solid 2px black;" value="#{IndexBean.bookList}" var="item" binding="#{IndexBean.datatableBooks}"> <h:column> <h:commandButton value="Edit" actionListener="#{IndexBean.editBook}"> <f:param name="index" value="#{IndexBean.datatableBooks.rowIndex}"/> </h:commandButton> </h:column> </h:dataTable> My bean: @ManagedBean(name="IndexBean") @ViewScoped public class IndexBean implements Serializable { private HtmlDataTable datatableBooks; public HtmlDataTable getDatatableBooks() { return datatableBooks; } public void setDatatableBooks(HtmlDataTable datatableBooks) { this.datatableBooks = datatableBooks; } public void editBook() throws IOException{ int index = Integer.parseInt(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequestParameterMap().get("index").toString()); System.out.println(index); } } My problem is that I always get the same index in server log even though I click the different edit buttons. Imagine that there is one collection which is supplied to the datatable. I have not shown that in bean. If I change scope from ViewScope to RequestScope it works fine. What can be the problem with @ViewScoped? Thanks in advance :) EDIT: <h:column> <h:commandButton value="Edit" actionListener="#{IndexBean.editBook}" /> </h:column> public void editBook(ActionEvent ev) throws IOException{ if (ev.getSource() != null && ev.getSource() instanceof HtmlDataTable) { HtmlDataTable objHtmlDataTable = (HtmlDataTable) ev.getSource(); System.out.println(objHtmlDataTable.getRowIndex()); } }

  • How can i use Google-o-Meter or Google Vizualisation API with Jenkins

    Here is a sample that displays a static chart: google.load("visualization", "1.0", {packages:["imagechart"]}); google.setOnLoadCallback(drawChart); function drawChart() { var dataTable = new google.visualization.DataTable(); dataTable.addColumn('string'); dataTable.addColumn('number'); dataTable.addColumn('string'); // Row data is [chl, data point, point label] dataTable.addRows([ ['January',40,undefined], ['February',60,'Initial recall'], ['March',60,'Product withdrawn'], ['April',45,undefined], ['May',47,'Relaunch'], ['June',75,undefined], ['July',70,undefined], ['August',72,undefined] ]); var options = {cht: 'lc', chds:'0,160', annotationColumns:[{column:2, size:12, type:'flag', priority:'high'},]}; var chart = new google.visualization.ImageChart(document.getElementById('line_div')); chart.draw(dataTable, options); } How can i replace the static values and variables in dataTable.addRows([ with real live data ? In case the compete code is not visible, refer to : http://code.google.com/apis/visualization/documentation/gallery/genericimagechart.html When this Javascript is copied to the "Description" it renders a chart, what i want to know is how to replace the name/value in dataTable.addRows, to the name/values coming from Jenkins

  • IText can't keep rows together, second row spans multiple pages but won't stick with first row.

    - by J2SE31
    I am having trouble keeping my first and second rows of my main PDFPTable together using IText. My first row consists of a PDFPTable with some basic search criteria. My second row consists of a PdfPTable that contains all of the tabulated results. Everytime the tabulated results becomes too big and spans multiple pages, it is kicked to the second page automatically rather than showing up directly below the search criteria and then paging to the next page. How can I avoid this problem? I have tried using setSplitRows(false), but I simply get a blank document (see commented lines 117 and 170). How can I keep my tabulated data (second row) up on the first page? An example of my code is shown below (you should be able to just copy/paste). public class TestHelper{ private TestEventHelper helper; public TestHelper(){ super(); helper = new TestEventHelper(); } public TestEventHelper getHelper() { return helper;
