Now that Google has indexed those pages, I discovered that some of words and sentences that are listed in Google that lead to my website are having their meta descriptions somehow mixed up.     Taken singly, it's easy to research versions and compatibility. Version information is readily available on each single part of a platform stack, such as MySQL. You can find out the latest version, stable version, and sometimes even the percentage of people adopting it by version (personally, I like seeing numbers on adoption rates). However, when trying to find the best possible mix of versions, I have a harder time. For example, "if you're using MySQL 5.5, you'll need PHP version XX or higher." It gets even more difficult to mitigate when you throw higher level platforms into the mix such as Drupal, Joomla, etc. I do consider "wizard" like installers to be beneficial, such as the Bitnami installers. However, I always wonder if those solutions cater more to the least common denominator -- be all to many -- and as such, I think I'd be better to install things on my own. Such solutions do seem kind of slow to adopt new versions, slower than necessary, I suspect. Is there a website or tool that consolidates versioning data in order to help a webmaster choose which versions to deploy or which upgrades to install, in consideration of all the other parts of the stack?

    I'm a web developer and administer of a Windows 2008R2 Could Instance with IIS 7. I recently made an update to our website, but when I revisited the website, the website was being viewed with old stylings. I did a refresh (shift + reload button in Firefox) and of course the website displayed as it should. I didn't worry about it, until my client had the same issue in Safari. So, my question, in general, is, how do I prevent this from happening again, and yet still afford some caching of our site? I noticed we did not have content expiration set up on our webserver sites, so I've set that up, but did I really need to? I've also looked at Etags, and, honestly, it's hard for me to know whether or not I should use them or not. One comment I read somewhere there isn't really any issue with Etags scenarios in IIS (even in webfarms)... but, I dunno. Anybody have any suggestions, links, info? Thanks.

    I have a domain I recently purchased. I went ahead and pointed it at my website(via DNS) and by default, my server now serves my website on this new domain. Eventually, the new domain will replace my old domain(with 302 redirects and all that). However, I've not yet got my website ready for that because I'll need to do some rebranding and such. Am I actively hurting my SEO ratings and such by having these two domains point to the same thing?

    I have an ASP.NET website that works with Firefox because FF doesn't need the % in the scope-id to be encoded (%25). The website also works on the same machine using IE because I can leave out the scope-id. However, to access the website from another machine in the network, I need to add the scope-id to the IPv6 address. For some reason, using the scope-id doesn't allow an authentication cookie to be created, and the website keeps going back to the login page. Anyone using IE7+ to access an ASP.NET website on a network using IPv6 with an encoded %?

    This is my code; it speaks for itself on what I'm trying to do. <?php define("html","<html>"); define("htmlEnd","</html>"); etc... etc... ?> What I'm trying to do is make a wrapper for html's tags so they won't be needed anymore. But I can't get any of the attributes for html elements to be defined in PHP. This again speaks for itself; I don't know any other way of saying this. I guess how would I make another mark-up language like HTML without any tags but still keep everything about HTML is what I'm trying to say. My idea is for preventing XSS. For example, creating a special framework for the website itself that way there is no way any malicious attacker can guess because they know the HTML or PHP. I just don't want to make my website or something, and then my website gets hacked. Or if I make a website for someone and the website gets hacked. I am going to look like a unprofessional web developer. And what if I never get a job again.
