  • jQuery .ajax doesn't load Google Adsense

    - by Sahas Katta
Hey Everyone, Just ran into an odd issue. I have a simple WP loop and instead of regular NEXT/BACK pages, I use a jQuery powered $.ajax get to append the following page to the current page. It works perfectly. However, I choose to insert a Google Adsense unit every 5th story. Unfortunately, the Adsense unit that is brought in with a second, third, or etc page load don't render. Here's my loop: 10 stories per page, Adsense after the 4th one. <?php $count = 0; ?> <?php if ( have_posts() ) : ?> <?php while ( have_posts() ) : the_post(); ?> <?php $count++; ?> <div class="card"> <div class="title"> <a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" title="<?php the_title(); ?>"><span><?php the_title(); ?></span></a> </div> </div> <?php if ($count == 4) : ?> <div class="card"> <!-- ADSENSE CODE HERE (Straight from Google Adsense Panel, no tweaks.) --> </div> <?php endif; ?> As for my jQuery script, here's how that looks: $.ajax({ url: nextPageLink, type: 'GET', success: function(data) { $(data).find('#reviews .card').appendTo('#reviews'); }, error: function(xhr, status, error) { $('.loadination').addClass('hidden'); } }); Keep in mind, I just simplified my code to give you guys an example. The code above was just the essentials. All the loading stuff works perfectly. Images, text, links, etc all load just fine. However, the Google Adsense unit doesn't. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and Happy Holidays!

  • XMLReader mysteriously fails when parsing document

    - by Valrus
    I have a php script that takes in some XML data and parses it, displaying various bits of information I pull out of it. This has been working fine for over 6 months, until recently it now fails mysteriously on a certain tag. The XML is generated from an outside source(a conferencing bridge), so I have no control over how it is built. I have put the xml through an online validator and it returned no errors. The code also works fine when I connect to another conferencing bridge and get the same output. I have been using XMLReader class so far and tried switching to SmipleXML, but it fails when I create the SimpleXML object using the data. Here is the snippet of where it fails while parsing: <CDR_SUMMARY> <FILE_VERSION>1001</FILE_VERSION> <NAME>Conference Title Hidden</NAME> <ID>10227</ID> <STATUS_STR>Auto_termination,_everybody_quit</STATUS_STR> <STATUS>4</STATUS> <GMT_OFFSET>-4</GMT_OFFSET> <START_TIME>2010-04-14T15:00:33</START_TIME> <DURATION> <HOUR>0</HOUR> <MINUTE>39</MINUTE> <SECOND>37</SECOND> </DURATION> <RESERVE_START_TIME>2010-04-14T15:00:33</RESERVE_START_TIME> <RESERVE_DURATION> <HOUR>12</HOUR> <MINUTE>0</MINUTE> <SECOND>0</SECOND> </RESERVE_DURATION> <MCU_FILE_NAME>c11</MCU_FILE_NAME> <FILE_SAVED>0</FILE_SAVED> <GMT_OFFSET_MINUTE>0</GMT_OFFSET_MINUTE> </CDR_SUMMARY> The <SOUND> opening tag is the last one read before failing. And this is my code: `public function processResponse($xml) { print "Processing List..."; $reader = new XMLReader($xml); try { $reader->setSchema("./schemas/response_trans_cdr_list.xsd"); } catch(Exception $e) { print "Exception:".$e->getMessage(); } //verify xml if($reader->xml($xml)) { while($reader->read()) { //$currentstring = $reader->readstring(); if($reader->name === "ACTION") { //into meat of resposnse while($reader->read()) { //print "Looping..."; //$currentstring = $reader->readInnerXML(); //print $currentstring; if($reader->nodeType == XMLReader::ELEMENT) { if($reader->name === "ID") { $this->conferenceIDs[$this->counter] = $reader->readString(); print "<BR>Conf ID found: ".$this->counter." ID: ".$this->conferenceIDs[$this->counter]; $this->counter += 1; } else if($reader->name === "START_TIME") { //conference start time. print "<BR>Start Time Found! "; $this->conferenceStarts[$this->counter-1] = $reader->readString(); } else if($reader->name === "NAME") { print "<BR> Name Found!"; $this->conferenceNames[$this->counter] = $reader->readString(); } else if($reader->name === "MCU_FILE_NAME") { print "<BR> MCU_FILE_NAME Found!"; //print $this->counter." File Name: ".$reader->readstring()."<BR>"; } else if($reader->name === "RESERVE_START_TIME") { print "<BR> RESERVE_START_TIME Found!"; } else if($reader->name === "FILE_VERSION") { print "<BR> FILE_VERSION Found!"; } else if($reader->name === "STATUS_STR") { print "<BR> STATUS_STR Found!"; } else if($reader->name === "STATUS") { print "<BR> STATUS Found!"; } else if($reader->name === "GMT_OFFSET") { print "<BR> GMT_OFFSET Found!"; } else if($reader->name === "DURATION") { print "<BR> DURATION Found!"; } else if($reader->name === "RESERVE_START_TIME") { print "<BR> RESERVE_START_TIME Found!"; } else if($reader->name === "RESERVE_DURATION") { print "<BR> RESERVE_DURATION Found!"; } else if($reader->name === "FILE_SAVED") { print "<BR> FILE_SAVED Found!"; } else if($reader->name === "GMT_OFFSET_MINUTE") { print "<BR> GMT_OFFSET_MINUTE Found!"; } else if($reader->name === "HOUR") { print "<BR> HOUR Found!"; } else if($reader->name === "MINUTE") { print "<BR> MINUTE Found!"; } else if($reader->name === "SECOND") { print "<BR> SECOND Found!"; } }else if($reader->nodeType == XMLReader::END_ELEMENT) { print "Close Element".$reader->name; } } print "End Action Loop"; } } } else { print "Error reading response: Bad XML returned"; } }` Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this failure? the code exits gracefully and I see the "End Action Loop" message in my output. It's like it just spontaneously exits the loop.

  • Nokogiri pull parser (Nokogiri::XML::Reader) issue with self closing tag

    - by Vlad Zloteanu
I have a huge XML(400MB) containing products. Using a DOM parser is therefore excluded, so i tried to parse and process it using a pull parser. Below is a snippet from the each_product(&block) method where i iterate over the product list. Basically, using a stack, i transform each <product> ... </product> node into a hash and process it. while (reader.read) case reader.node_type #start element when Nokogiri::XML::Node::ELEMENT_NODE elem_name = reader.name.to_s stack.push([elem_name, {}]) #text element when Nokogiri::XML::Node::TEXT_NODE, Nokogiri::XML::Node::CDATA_SECTION_NODE stack.last[1] = reader.value #end element when Nokogiri::XML::Node::ELEMENT_DECL return if stack.empty? elem = stack.pop parent = stack.last if parent.nil? yield(elem[1]) elem = nil next end key = elem[0] parent_childs = parent[1] # ... parent_childs[key] = elem[1] end The issue is on self-closing tags (EG <country/>), as i can not make the difference between a 'normal' and a 'self-closing' tag. They both are of type Nokogiri::XML::Node::ELEMENT_NODE and i am not able to find any other discriminator in the documentation. Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

  • Looping Redirect with PyFacebook and Google App Engine

    - by Nick Gotch
I have a Python Facebook project hosted on Google App Engine and use the following code to handle initialization of the Facebook API using PyFacebook. # Facebook Initialization def initialize_facebook(f): # Redirection handler def redirect(self, url): logger.info('Redirecting the user to: ' + url) self.response.headers.add_header("Cache-Control", "max-age=0") self.response.headers.add_header("Pragma", "no-cache") self.response.out.write('<html><head><script>parent.location.replace(\'' + url + '\');</script></head></html>') return 'Moved temporarily' auth_token = request.params.get('auth_token', None) fbapi = Facebook(settings['FACEBOOK_API_KEY'], settings['FACEBOOK_SECRET_KEY'], auth_token=auth_token) if not fbapi: logger.error('Facebook failed to initialize') if fbapi.check_session(request) or auth_token: pass else: logger.info('User not logged into Facebook') return lambda a: redirect(a, fbapi.get_login_url()) if fbapi.added: pass else: logger.info('User does not have ' + settings['FACEBOOK_APP_NAME'] + ' added') return lambda a: redirect(a, fbapi.get_add_url()) # Return the validated API logger.info('Facebook successfully initialized') return lambda a: f(a, fbapi=fbapi) I'm trying to set it up so that I can drop this decorator on any page handler method and verify that the user has everything set up correctly. The issue is that when the redirect handler gets called, it starts an infinite loop of redirection. I tried using an HTTP 302 redirection in place of the JavaScript but that kept failing too. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? I saw this similar question but there are no answers.

  • Looking for a lock-free RT-safe single-reader single-writer structure

    - by moala
Hi, I'm looking for a lock-free design conforming to these requisites: a single writer writes into a structure and a single reader reads from this structure (this structure exists already and is safe for simultaneous read/write) but at some time, the structure needs to be changed by the writer, which then initialises, switches and writes into a new structure (of the same type but with new content) and at the next time the reader reads, it switches to this new structure (if the writer multiply switches to a new lock-free structure, the reader discards these structures, ignoring their data). The structures must be reused, i.e. no heap memory allocation/free is allowed during write/read/switch operation, for RT purposes. I have currently implemented a ringbuffer containing multiple instances of these structures; but this implementation suffers from the fact that when the writer has used all the structures present in the ringbuffer, there is no more place to change from structure... But the rest of the ringbuffer contains some data which don't have to be read by the reader but can't be re-used by the writer. As a consequence, the ringbuffer does not fit this purpose. Any idea (name or pseudo-implementation) of a lock-free design? Thanks for having considered this problem.

  • Trap SIGPIPE when trying to write without reader

    - by Matt
I am trying to implement a named-pipe communication solution in BASH between two processes. The first process runs a script which echo something in a named-pipe: send(){ echo 'something' > $NAMEDPIPE } And the second script is supposed to read the named-pipe via another script which contains: while true;do if read line < $NAMEDPIPE;do someCommands fi done Not that the named pipe has been previously created using the traditional command mkfifo $NAMEDPIPE My problem is that the reader script is not always running so that if the writer script try to write in the named-pipe it stay blocked until a reader connect the pipe. I want to avoid this behavior, and a solution would be to trap a SIGPIPE signal. Indeed, according to man 7 signal is supposed to be send when trying to write in a pipe with no reader. So I changed my red function by: read(){ trap 'echo "SIGPIPE received"' SIGPIPE echo 'something' > $NAMEDPIPE } But when I run the reader script, the script stay blocked, and not "SIGPIPE received" appears... Am I mistaking on the signal mechanism or is there any better solution to my problem ? Thank you for your help.

  • Multi-reader IPC solution?

    - by gct
I'm working on a framework in C++ (just for fun for now), that lets the user write plugins that use a standard API to stream data between each other. There's going to be three basic transport mechanisms for the data: files, sockets, and some kind of IPC piping system. The system is set up so that for the non-file transport, each stream can have multiple readers. IE once a server socket it setup, multiple computers can connect and stream the data. I'm a little stuck at the multi-reader IPC system though. All my plugins run in threads so they live in the same address space, so some kind of shared memory system would work fine, I was thinking I'd write my own circular buffer with a write pointer and read pointers chassing it around the buffer, but I have my doubts that I can achieve the same performance as something like linux pipes. I'm curious what people would suggest for a multi-reader solution to something like this? Is the overhead for pipes or domain sockets low enough that I could just open a connection to each reader and issue separate writes to each reader? This is intended to be significant volumes of data (tens of mega-samples/sec), so performance is a must.

  • GWT Javascript Exception in Hosted Mode: Result of expression 'doc.getBoxObjectFor' [undefined] is

  • Is there a way to create a step chart using the Google Charts API?

    - by Nathan
I'd like to use the google charts API to create a step chart for my Rails application. Preferably using the annotated timeline Google has (since it has a nice wrapper plugin for rails): http://code.google.com/apis/visualization/documentation/gallery/annotatedtimeline.html However, there doesn't seem to be a way to create a step chart using the annotated timeline or any other chart in the Google API. I'm looking to make a plot like this: If there is no way to do this with the google API, is there an alternative graphing library that can handle such a task?

  • Make Firefox Show Google Results for Default Address Bar Searches

    - by The Geek
Have you ever typed something incorrectly into the Firefox address bar, and then had it take you to a page you weren’t expecting? The reason is because Firefox uses Google’s “I’m Feeling Lucky” search, but you can change it. Scratching your head? Let’s take a quick run through what we’re talking about… Normally, if you typed in something like just “howtogeek” in the address bar, and then hit enter… you’ll be taken directly to the How-To Geek site. But how? Very simple! It’s the same place you would have been taken to if you typed “howtogeek” into Google, and then clicked the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button, which takes you to the first result. This is what Firefox does behind the scenes when you put something into the address bar that isn’t a URL. But what if you’d rather head to the search results page instead? Luckily, all you have to do is tweak an about:config parameter in Firefox. Just head into about:config in the address bar, and then filter for keyword.url like so: Double-click on the entry in the list, and then delete the &gfns=1 from the value. That’s the part of the URL that triggers Google to redirect to the first result. And now, the next time you type something into the address bar, either on purpose or because you typo’d it, you’ll be taken to the results page instead: About:Config tweaking is lots of fun. • NoSQL Java API for MySQL Cluster: Questions & Answers

    - by Mat Keep
The MySQL Cluster engineering team recently ran a live webinar, available now on-demand demonstrating the ClusterJ and ClusterJPA NoSQL APIs for MySQL Cluster, and how these can be used in building real-time, high scale Java-based services that require continuous availability. Attendees asked a number of great questions during the webinar, and I thought it would be useful to share those here, so others are also able to learn more about the Java NoSQL APIs. First, a little bit about why we developed these APIs and why they are interesting to Java developers. ClusterJ and Cluster JPA ClusterJ is a Java interface to MySQL Cluster that provides either a static or dynamic domain object model, similar to the data model used by JDO, JPA, and Hibernate. A simple API gives users extremely high performance for common operations: insert, delete, update, and query. ClusterJPA works with ClusterJ to extend functionality, including - Persistent classes - Relationships - Joins in queries - Lazy loading - Table and index creation from object model By eliminating data transformations via SQL, users get lower data access latency and higher throughput. In addition, Java developers have a more natural programming method to directly manage their data, with a complete, feature-rich solution for Object/Relational Mapping. As a result, the development of Java applications is simplified with faster development cycles resulting in accelerated time to market for new services. MySQL Cluster offers multiple NoSQL APIs alongside Java: - Memcached for a persistent, high performance, write-scalable Key/Value store, - HTTP/REST via an Apache module - C++ via the NDB API for the lowest absolute latency. Developers can use SQL as well as NoSQL APIs for access to the same data set via multiple query patterns – from simple Primary Key lookups or inserts to complex cross-shard JOINs using Adaptive Query Localization Marrying NoSQL and SQL access to an ACID-compliant database offers developers a number of benefits. MySQL Cluster’s distributed, shared-nothing architecture with auto-sharding and real time performance makes it a great fit for workloads requiring high volume OLTP. Users also get the added flexibility of being able to run real-time analytics across the same OLTP data set for real-time business insight. OK – hopefully you now have a better idea of why ClusterJ and JPA are available. Now, for the Q&A. Q & A Q. Why would I use Connector/J vs. ClusterJ? A. Partly it's a question of whether you prefer to work with SQL (Connector/J) or objects (ClusterJ). Performance of ClusterJ will be better as there is no need to pass through the MySQL Server. A ClusterJ operation can only act on a single table (e.g. no joins) - ClusterJPA extends that capability Q. Can I mix different APIs (ie ClusterJ, Connector/J) in our application for different query types? A. Yes. You can mix and match all of the API types, SQL, JDBC, ODBC, ClusterJ, Memcached, REST, C++. They all access the exact same data in the data nodes. Update through one API and new data is instantly visible to all of the others. Q. How many TCP connections would a SessionFactory instance create for a cluster of 8 data nodes? A. SessionFactory has a connection to the mgmd (management node) but otherwise is just a vehicle to create Sessions. Without using connection pooling, a SessionFactory will have one connection open with each data node. Using optional connection pooling allows multiple connections from the SessionFactory to increase throughput. Q. Can you give details of how Cluster J optimizes sharding to enhance performance of distributed query processing? A. Each data node in a cluster runs a Transaction Coordinator (TC), which begins and ends the transaction, but also serves as a resource to operate on the result rows. While an API node (such as a ClusterJ process) can send queries to any TC/data node, there are performance gains if the TC is where most of the result data is stored. ClusterJ computes the shard (partition) key to choose the data node where the row resides as the TC. Q. What happens if we perform two primary key lookups within the same transaction? Are they sent to the data node in one transaction? A. ClusterJ will send identical PK lookups to the same data node. Q. How is distributed query processing handled by MySQL Cluster ? A. If the data is split between data nodes then all of the information will be transparently combined and passed back to the application. The session will connect to a data node - typically by hashing the primary key - which then interacts with its neighboring nodes to collect the data needed to fulfil the query. Q. Can I use Foreign Keys with MySQL Cluster A. Support for Foreign Keys is included in the MySQL Cluster 7.3 Early Access release Summary The NoSQL Java APIs are packaged with MySQL Cluster, available for download here so feel free to take them for a spin today! • Pros and cons of the Google font API

    - by Seamus
I am currently using a font from the google font directory on my website. I don't fully understand how it works, but it seems like when someone opens my site, their browser is told to go and fetch the font from Google. (correct me if I'm wrong). Now, what I'm wondering is, what are the pros and cons of this over just specifying a font family the old-school way? Presumably doing it the google font directory way has the advantage that they'll definitely see the font I want them to. (as long as the font directory is up). But does this way have disadvantages? Maybe using fonts that are stored locally speeds up the site loading?

The damn thing makes an amazing amount of noise, and isn't too fast either. What I want is a state of the art, fast, quiet DVD reader, preferably not even a burner. What should I get?
