Thanks.

  • How to bind to current riacontext user in xaml

    - by Jakob
Hi. I Have a datacontext that has a "getuserbyguid" method, i want to pass in the current logged in user.userid as a parameter, but I don't know how to bind to the current logged in user through xaml. I've tried {Binding Path=User.UserId} but without any luck. I'm using the built in riaservices authentication methods, so the userinfo should be exposed in the riacontext, or am I wrong about this? I have this for instance <riaControls:DomainDataSource x:Name="FollowingGridData" AutoLoad="True" QueryName="GetUsersFollowedByIDQuery" LoadSize="20"> <riaControls:DomainDataSource.DomainContext> <my:NotesDomainContext /> </riaControls:DomainDataSource.DomainContext> <riaControls:DomainDataSource.QueryParameters> <riaControls:Parameter ParameterName="userguid" Value="{Binding Path=User.UserId}" /> </riaControls:DomainDataSource.QueryParameters> </riaControls:DomainDataSource> But it gives me an error saying that it's not a guid, meaning that it must not be binding correctly

  • How to draw N first elements?

    - by noober
Hello all, There is a canvas element with 10 children (polygons). There is a number in my code from 1 to 10. I'd like to draw the first N elements from the children elements, base on my number. It would be the best solution to do this from XAML with a minimum code-behind like this: ... MyCanvas.N = 5; ...

  • EventAggregator, is it thread-safe?

    - by pfaz
    Is this thread-safe? The EventAggregator in Prism is a very simple class with only one method. I was surprised when I noticed that there was no lock around the null check and creation of a new type to add to the private _events collection. If two threads called GetEvent simultaneously for the same type (before it exists in _events) it looks like this would result in two entries in the collection. /// <summary> /// Gets the single instance of the event managed by this EventAggregator. Multiple calls to this method with the same <typeparamref name="TEventType"/> returns the same event instance. /// </summary> /// <typeparam name="TEventType">The type of event to get. This must inherit from <see cref="EventBase"/>.</typeparam> /// <returns>A singleton instance of an event object of type <typeparamref name="TEventType"/>.</returns> public TEventType GetEvent<TEventType>() where TEventType : EventBase { TEventType eventInstance = _events.FirstOrDefault(evt => evt.GetType() == typeof(TEventType)) as TEventType; if (eventInstance == null) { eventInstance = Activator.CreateInstance<TEventType>(); _events.Add(eventInstance); } return eventInstance; }

  • Binding ComboBox Item with a text property of different DataContext

    - by Jhelumi786
    Hi Everyone, I have a comboBox as below. What I want is to bind the selectedItem value to a Text property of a datacontext so that another DataTemplate can show the Image. Please note that the Combobox and Target Image elements are on two different DataTemplates so that's why I need to update the Text Property (ImageName) ofDataContext at backend. <ComboBox x:Name="cboOverlay" Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="1" SelectedIndex="0" > <ComboBoxItem Name="BC_OL" IsSelected="True"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <Image Source="Images\BC_OL.jpg" Width="100" Height="25" Canvas.Top="0" Canvas.Left="0" /> <TextBlock Width="100" VerticalAlignment="Center" TextAlignment="Center">Image1</TextBlock> </StackPanel> </ComboBoxItem> <ComboBoxItem Name="Indian_OL"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <Image Source="Images\Indian_OL.jpg" Width="100" Height="25" Canvas.Top="0" Canvas.Left="0" /> <TextBlock Width="100" VerticalAlignment="Center" TextAlignment="Center">Image2</TextBlock> </StackPanel> </ComboBoxItem> </ComboBox> <Image Source="{Binding Path=Image}" Width="81" Height="25" Canvas.Top="0" Canvas.Left="0" />

  • How do I set a ViewModel on a window in XAML using DataContext property?

    - by Nicholas
The question pretty much says it all. I have a window, and have tried to set the DataContext using the full namespace to the ViewModel, but I seem to be doing something wrong. <Window x:Class="BuildAssistantUI.BuildAssistantWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" DataContext="BuildAssistantUI.ViewModels.MainViewModel">

  • What types of objects should the ViewModel reference in the MVVM pattern?

    - by Blanthor
I've seen quite a few examples of MVVM. I can see that the View should reference the ViewModel. I've seen recently an example of a ViewModel referencing a View, which seems wrong to me, as it would result in tighter coupling. Given that ViewModel is often described as an intermediary between the View and the Model, is there more to the ViewModel than a facade to domain objects? I hope I used the term "facade" correctly here.

  • Is there such a thing as a dektop application event aggregator, similar to that used in Prism?

    - by brownj
The event aggregator in Prism is great, and allows loosely coupled communication between modules within a composite application. Does such a thing exist that allows the same thing to happen between standalone applications running on a user's desktop? I could imagine developing a solution that uses WCF with TCP binding and running inside Windows Process Activation Service. Client applications could subscribe or publish events to this service as required and it would ensure all other listeners get notified of events as appropriate. Using TCP would enable event messages to be pushed out to clients without the need for polling, ensuring messages are delivered very quickly. I can't help but think though that such a thing would already exist... Is anyone aware of something like this, or have any advice on how it may be best implemented?

  • Accessing properties through Generic type parameter

    - by Veer
I'm trying to create a generic repository for my models. Currently i've 3 different models which have no relationship between them. (Contacts, Notes, Reminders). class Repository<T> where T:class { public IQueryable<T> SearchExact(string keyword) { //Is there a way i can make the below line generic //return db.ContactModels.Where(i => i.Name == keyword) //I also tried db.GetTable<T>().Where(i => i.Name == keyword) //But the variable i doesn't have the Name property since it would know it only in the runtime //db also has a method ITable GetTable(Type modelType) but don't think if that would help me } } In MainViewModel, I call the Search method like this: Repository<ContactModel> _contactRepository = new Repository<ContactModel>(); public void Search(string keyword) { var filteredList = _contactRepository.SearchExact(keyword).ToList(); } I use Linq-To-Sql.

  • Sharing state/changes across ViewModels

    - by joshperry
I have an App which has a Tasks tab and a Projects tab. I decided to make a separate ViewModel for each of the tabs, TasksViewModel and ProjectsViewModel. The Tasks tab has a new task area with an associated project pulldown and the Projects tab (obviously) has a list of projects. What I'd like is for the pulldown on the Tasks tab to share the same collection as the Projects tab list so that any time I add or remove a project on the Projects tab the list on the Tasks tab is up to date automatically. This worked well with a single ViewModel but it was beginning to become quite unruly. Should I not have split into two ViewModels? Is there a common method of sharing data like this? Perhaps pass the same ObservableCollection<Project> into each of the ViewModels? Perhaps some type of notification back to the TasksViewModel along the lines of ICollectionChanged. Appreciate any insight/input!

  • VSTO Outlook - Contact iteration is SO SLOW!

    - by DustinDavis
I'm working on an outlook add-in and I have a dialog window that allows the user to select contacts. I havent been able to find a way to use the outlook contact window so I am looping through the ContactFolder.Items and doing my work that way. The problem is that I have to handle up to 70K contacts. I tried multi-threading and many other things but it is just so slow. It takes 15 seconds to load 30k contacts. I can load and bind 500k POCO objects in milliseconds but when I need to get the contact items from outlook it just takes forever. The problem seems to be when you actually need to get a property from the contactitem it has to fetch it from the database or something. Is there a contact cache I can pull from? I only need Display and Email, nothing else. An ID would be nice but I don't need it. Can someone please tell me a better way of getting contacts from outlook or at least tell me how to open the outlook contact selection window? I was able to find code to open it but it wont let me because I'm showing a modal dialog and it wont open if there is a modal open.

  • Indirect property notification

    - by Carlo
Hello, this question might look a little trivial, but it might not be. I'm just wondering which of the following two cases is better for indirect property notification, or perhaps there is an even better way. The scenario: I have two properties, the first one is an object called HoldingObject, the second one is a boolean called IsHoldingObject, which is false if HoldingObject == null, otherwise it's true. I'm just wondering what is the best notification mechanism for IsHoldingObject: Case (A) - Notify IsHoldingObject changed from the HoldingObject proeperty: public class NotifyingClass1 : INotifyPropertyChanged { private object _holdingObject; public object HoldingObject { get { return _holdingObject; } set { if (_holdingObject != value) { _holdingObject = value; NotifyPropertyChanged("HoldingObject"); // Notify from the property that is being checked NotifyPropertyChanged("IsHoldingObject"); } } } public bool IsHoldingObject { get { return this.HoldingObject == null; } } #region INotifyPropertyChanged Members public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; private void NotifyPropertyChanged(string propertyName) { if (this.PropertyChanged != null) this.PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(propertyName)); } #endregion } Case (B) - Notify IsHoldingObject changed from the IsHoldingObject directly, by setting it to false or true from HoldingObject property: public class NotifyingClass2 : INotifyPropertyChanged { private object _holdingObject; public object HoldingObject { get { return _holdingObject; } set { if (_holdingObject != value) { _holdingObject = value; NotifyPropertyChanged("HoldingObject"); // 1) Set the property here this.IsHoldingObject = _holdingObject != null; } } } private bool _isHoldingObject; public bool IsHoldingObject { get { return _isHoldingObject; } set { if (_isHoldingObject != value) { _isHoldingObject = value; // 2) Notify directly from the property NotifyPropertyChanged("IsHoldingObject"); } } } #region INotifyPropertyChanged Members public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; private void NotifyPropertyChanged(string propertyName) { if (this.PropertyChanged != null) this.PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(propertyName)); } #endregion } I personally lean to the first one because it requires less code, but I'm not sure how recommendable it is to do that. Let me know if there is another (better) way. Thanks!

  • How to change TreeViewItem property from an element in its Header?

    - by Jama64
    I have a treeviewitem where the header property contains other elements such as TextBlock. I want if the TextBlock Text = "Empty", the TreeViewItem not to be focasable. Here I set the TextBox Focasable property but the containing TreeViewItem is focasable. I want the TreeViewItem containing the TextBlock with the Text="Empty" not to be focasable. Thanks Here is my attempt. <Grid> <TreeView> <TreeViewItem> <TreeViewItem.Header> <TextBlock Text="John"> <TextBlock.Style> <Style TargetType="{x:Type TextBlock}"> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="Text" Value="Empty"> <Setter Property="Background" Value="Red" /> <Setter Property="Focusable" Value="False"></Setter> </Trigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> </TextBlock.Style> </TextBlock> </TreeViewItem.Header> </TreeViewItem> <TreeViewItem> <TreeViewItem.Header> <TextBlock Text="Empty"> <TextBlock.Style> <Style TargetType="{x:Type TextBlock}"> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="Text" Value="Empty"> <Setter Property="Background" Value="Red" /> <Setter Property="Focusable" Value="False"></Setter> </Trigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> </TextBlock.Style> </TextBlock> </TreeViewItem.Header> </TreeViewItem> </TreeView> </Grid>

  • Why is the Dependency Property not returning its value?

    - by B-Rad
I have a MyUserControl with the following Xaml: <TextBox Text="{Binding InputValueProperty}" /> In the MyUserControl.xaml.cs I have: public string InputValue { get { return (string)GetValue(InputValueProperty); } set { SetValue(InputValueProperty, value); } } public static readonly DependencyProperty InputValueProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("InputValueProperty", typeof(string), typeof(MyUserControl)); In my MainWindow.xaml I create a user control: <local:MyUserControl InputValue="My Input" /> Later on in my MainWindow.xaml.cs I am trying to access this string. All instances of MyUserControl are contained in a List and I access them with a foreach. string temp = userControl.InputValue; This is always null. In my MainWindow.xaml I can see the "My Input" in the text box of the user control but I can't ever seem to get it out of there.

  • How to have a user control as a ListBoxItem

    - by Harry
    I want to bind a user control (View) to a ListBoxItem. The ListBox is bound to a collection of ViewModels. I have set the ListBox's ItemTemplate as so: <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <View:ContactView/> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> But all I get are blank ListBoxItems. I can click on them, but nothing is showing visually. My ContactView code is very simply: <Border> <DockPanel> <StackPanel DockPanel.Dock="Right" Orientation="Vertical"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=ContactFirstName, FallbackValue=FirstName}" FontWeight="Bold" Margin="5, 0, 5, 0"></TextBlock> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=ContactLastName, FallbackValue=LastName}" FontWeight="Bold" Margin="5, 0, 5, 0"></TextBlock> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=ContactNumber, FallbackValue=Number}" Margin="5, 0, 5, 0"></TextBlock> </StackPanel> </DockPanel> </Border> What could be wrong with this? Thanks.

  • How can data templates in generic.xaml get applied automatically?

    - by Thiado de Arruda
I have a custom control that has a ContentPresenter that will have an arbitrary object set as it content. This object does not have any constraint on its type, so I want this control to display its content based on any data templates defined by application or by data templates defined in Generic.xaml. If in a application I define some data template(without a key because I want it to be applied automatically to objects of that type) and I use the custom control bound to an object of that type, the data template gets applied automatically. But I have some data templates defined for some types in the generic.xaml where I define the custom control style, and these templates are not getting applied automatically. Here is the generic.xaml : If I set an object of type 'PredefinedType' as the content in the contentpresenter, the data template does not get applied. However, If it works if I define the data template in the app.xaml for the application thats using the custom control. Does someone got a clue? I really cant assume that the user of the control will define this data template, so I need some way to tie it up with the custom control.

  • How can I bind dynamic data to DataGridTemplateColun in code?

    - by TuomoT
    I'm using DataGrid from CodePlex. I have objects (ICustomTypeDescriptor) that have properties 'name' 'description' 'c' 'd' and so on (the names are dynamic, and so is the value) and they have information behind them. I have templates for different types. And if I have to list the properties of a single element I can just bind to the values in xaml and use datatemplateselector (in datagridtemplatecolumn) which will pick the correct template. However, when I'm listing several of the elements, how can I use the selectors and the templates? How do I get the correct property bound to the template (two-way)? When ignoring the need for different templates, using DataGridTextColumn with bindings is very simple (and works, see example below), is there any way to use similar approach with the DataGridTemplateColumn? foreach (String propertyName in listOfPropertyNames) { DataGridTextColumn textColumn = new DataGridTextColumn() { Header = propertyName, Binding = new Binding() { Path = new PropertyPath(propertyName) } }; DataGrid.Columns.Add(textColumn); }

  • How to convert X/Y position to Canvas Left/Top properties when using ItemsControl

    - by kshahar
I am trying to use a Canvas to display objects that have "world" location (rather than "screen" location). The canvas is defined like this: <Canvas Background="AliceBlue"> <ItemsControl Name="myItemsControl" ItemsSource="{Binding MyItems}"> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Canvas> <TextBlock Canvas.Left="{Binding WorldX}" Canvas.Top="{Binding WorldY}" Text="{Binding Text}" Width="Auto" Height="Auto" Foreground="Red" /> </Canvas> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> </Canvas> MyItem is defined like this: public class MyItem { public MyItem(double worldX, double worldY, string text) { WorldX = worldX; WorldY = worldY; Text = text; } public double WorldX { get; set; } public double WorldY { get; set; } public string Text { get; set; } } In addition, I have a method to convert between world and screen coordinates: Point worldToScreen(double worldX, double worldY) { // return screen coordinates using the canvas properties and an internal MapData object } With the current implementation, the items are positioned in the wrong location, because their location is not converted to screen coordinates. How can I apply the worldToScreen method on the MyItem objects before they are added to the canvas?

  • How can I get my UserControl to look like a ComboBox?

    - by NoLuke
I have a user control containing a TextBox, ToggleButton and Popup, just like the real ComboBox. Now my problem is to style it so that it looks just like the normal ComboBox. In Blend, I can "Edit Template/Edit a Copy..." of a real ComboBox to get the bits and pieces I need to get it to look right. For one Windows theme (Aero). If the application is run on another theme (e.g Luna), the control does not change its look, it still has the Aero look. Do I have to supply a style/template for each Windows theme, or can I somehow get hold of (at run-time) the default ComboBox style and apply it to my UserControl? Instead of making a UserControl, I have tried modifying a real ComboBox to my needs, but I just couldn't get it to work. How can I replace ALL the logic of a ComboBox with my own?
