• How to force user to user Administrator account in WinForms

  I have simple WinForms application where modifying Windows Registry. The problem is that in Vista / Windows 7 I need to force user to switch to administrator. I do not want to force user to Run as Administrator form start of the application. I want him to do it when there is necessity to write to registry. Best case scenario would be to reach exacly the same message which appear in lot's of Setups, when user need to 'switch' to Administrator so there is no necessity to Run as Administrator form beginning. How I can achieve this in .Net ?

• How2 display Image from DB in datagrid?

  Hope it's not yet been answered, but I've googled for quite a long time, and I've not been able to get it working. In brief, I've a SL4 page with a DataGrid filled accordingly to parameters passed from the previous page, so I fill the context in code, with a "RIA" query (w/parameters as well). So far, so good. I get the XAML declared columns as expected but the Photo templated column, which holds just an image control. I think I can use the LoadingRow event, but can some1 give me some code on how to get my goal (image is in in the context from DB)? Thanks in advance

  Hi all, I deploy an application on a WebLogic 10.3.2 cluster with two nodes, and a load balancer in front of the cluster. I have set the <core:init distributable="true" debug="true" /> My Session and Conversation classes implement Serializable. I start using the application being served by the first node. • Exceptions silently caught by Windows, how to handle manually?

  We're having problems with Windows silently eating exceptions and allowing the application to continue running, when the exception is thrown inside the message pump. The program appears to be running perfectly well, but if you check the output window you will see: First-chance exception at 0x13929384 in Test.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation writing location 0x00000000. First-chance exception at 0x77c6ee42 in Test.exe: 0xC0150010: The activation context being deactivated is not active for the current thread of execution. I know why I'm receiving the application context exception, but why is it being handled silently? It means our applications could be suffering serious problems when in use, but we'll never know about it, because our users will never report any problems.

But when I think about what syntax implies, it doesn't make any sense to me, so I'm wondering if this type of syntax is used for any other types of definitions. My point of confusion here is this: class << self The append operator normally means "add what's on the right to the object on the left". But in the context of this block, how does that add up to "put the contents of this block into the definition of the class instance rather than the instance"? For the same reason I'm confused as to why in one context class << self can define class instance variables while in another it seems to create class variables such as here: class Point # Instance methods go here class << self # Class methods go here end end

  I have a string that looks like this: "#Text() #SomeMoreText() #TextThatContainsDelimiter(#blah) #SomethingElse()" I'd like to get back [#Text(), #SomeMoreText(), #TextThatContainsDelimiter(#blah), #SomethingElse()] One way I thought about doing this was to require that the # to be escaped into \#, which makes the input string: "#Text() #SomeMoreText() #TextThatContainsDelimiter(\#blah) #SomethingElse()" I can then split it using /[^\\]#/ which gives me: [#Text(), SomeMoreText, TextThatContainsDelimiter(\#blah), SomethingElse()] The first element will contain # but I can strip it out. However, is there a cleaner way to do this without having to escape the #, and which ensures that the first element will not contain a #? Basically I'd like it to split by # only if the # is not enclosed by parentheses. My hunch is that since the # is context-sensitive and and regular expressions are only suited for context-free strings, this may not be the right tool. If so, would I have to write a grammar for this and roll my own parser/lexer?

  Hi, I'm trying to call a thread on a button click (btn_more) but i cant get it right. The thread is to get some data and update the images. The problem i have is if i only update 4 or 5 images then it works fine. But if i load more than 5 images i will get a force close. At times when the internet is slow I will face the same problem too. Can please help me to solve this problem or provide me some guidance? • Url encode and routing?

  I'm using custom routing in a web forms context. I have some titles (part of my custom route) that have say a question mark character. When I URL encode this text ("Question?") and then pass into my route, I get an HTTP ERROR CODE 400. Apparently, the URL encoded text is somehow confusing the routing manager. Can someone provide context and explanation for this? Beyond that, I'm thinking I don't need to URL encode these route data but merely strip out the problem characters. Are there any security risks to not using URL decode/encode? And what are the problem characters? A list would be useful. Thanks!

  Hi, this code in my plugin used to work just fine: jQuery('#embedded_obj', context).get(0).getVersion(); and in html... <object id="embedded_obj" type="application/x-versionchecker-1.0.0.1"</object Basically trying to get the properties from an embedded object. But it looks like get(0) is returning an html object instead of the actual embedded object. For example, if I do: var launcher = jQuery('#embedded_obj', context).get(0); for(prop in launcher){ alert(prop + ': ' + launcher[prop]); } ... it alerts things like "getElementByNode," "scrollWidth," "clientLeft," "clientTop" etc. Again this worked before Firefox 3.6. Has anyone else seen this or have any ideas/suggestions? Thanks!

• How do you handle EF Data Contexts combined with asp.net custom membership/role providers

  I can't seem to get my head around how to implement a custom membership provider with Entity Framework data contexts into my asp.net MVC application. I understand how to create a custom membership/role provider by itself (using this as a reference). Here's my current setup: As of now I have a repository factory interface that allows different repository factories to be created (right now I only have a factory for EF repositories and and in memory repositories). The controller then creates all the service/business layer objects it requires and passes in the repository factory into it. This means that all service objects are using the same EF data contexts and I do not have to worry about objects being used in more than one data context (which of course is not allowed and causes an exception). As of right now I am trying to decide how to generate my user and authorization service layers, and have run against a design roadblock. The User/Authization service will be a central class that handles the logic for logging in, changing user details, managing roles and determining what users have access to what. The problem is, using the current methodology the asp.net mvc controllers will initialize it's own EF repository factory via Windsor and the asp.net membership/role provider will have to initialize it's own EF repository factory. This means that each part of the site will then have it's own data context. This seems to mean that if asp.net authenticates a user, that user's object will be in the membership provider's data context and thus if I try to retrieve that user object in the service layer (say to change the user's name) I will get a duplication exception. I thought of making the repository factory class a singleton, but I don't see a way for that to work with castle Windsor. How do other people handle asp.net custom providers in a MVC (or any n-tier) architecture without having object duplication issues?

• Drawing a texture with an alpha channel doesn't work -- draws black

  I am modifying GLPaint to use a different background, so in this case it is white. Anyway the existing stamp they are using assumes the background is black, so I made a new background with an alpha channel. When I draw on the canvas it is still black, what gives? When I actually draw, I just bind the texture and it works. Something is wrong in this initialization.   Hoping someone can shed some light on what I might be doing wrong here. Trying to add an "event" to a list of events, represented by a one to many (inverse) relationship: MyEvents <--- Event This is the code: MyEvents *myEvents = (MyEvents *)[NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"MyEvents" inManagedObjectContext:context]; NSLog(@"MYEVENTS: %@", myEvents); NSLog(@"EVENT: %@", event); [myEvents addEventObject:event]; My context is fine, and both the myEvents and event print perfectly valid information. When I try to add the event that I have (which is passed into this view controller, having been retrieved from core data previously) with this code [myEvents addEventObject:event]; It falls over with *** -[NSComparisonPredicate evaluateWithObject:]: message sent to deallocated instance MyEvents and Event are just the default generated code. I have a problem with running a WS, it looks like my Spring context can't find file persistence.xml Which i am able to believe because i did not have generated META-INF folder in my template (which is Maven project template with archetype org.springframework.ws) I have created META-INF manually. • Cannot combine commits using TortoiseGit

  I have two branches with several commits each. On one branch, I can go to the log, select two commits, and TortoiseGit shows "combine to one commit" in the context menu. On the other branch this option does not show in the context menu. Both sequence of commits is very similar; add file then modify it, so there is no difference really between the branches. What factors would cause this "combine to one commit" to not be available? I'm wondering if I should just switch to the command line.

  Having a bit of a weird one with my local LAN setup. I recently installed a Cisco 877W router on my DSL2+ connection and all is working really well.. Upgraded the IOS to 12.4 and my wired clients are streaming connectivity superfast at 1.3mb/s. However, there seems to be an issue with my wireless clients - I can't seem to stream any data across the local wireless connection (LAN) and using the Internet, whilst responsive enough isn't really comparable with the wired connection speed.   How can I systematically determine which jars I'll need, and thus should include in my pom.xml file (I'm using maven as my project management tool)? When learning spring, to keep things simple, added all the jars (even the ones I never used) to the classpath. Right now for the most part, I'm guessing which jars to include. For example, I know in my spring configuration file, I have: <tx:annotation-driven /> <context:annotation-config /> <aop:aspectj-autoproxy /> So, I guess I'll need: spring-context-x.x.x.jar, spring-tx-x.x.x.jar, spring-aop-x.x.x.jar Thanks.
