    I've run into a really strange UTF-8 problem with Net::Cassandra::Easy (which is built upon Net::Cassandra): UTF-8 strings written to Cassandra are garbled upon retrieval.   • Update {node_counter} table programatically in drupal

    I currently use the statistics module (core) on my Drupal 6 install. This increments a count in the {node_counter} table every time the node is viewed, and this works. My question is - can I programmatically increment this counter as well? I am looking to achieve this when users interact with content created from views (say click a lightbox), so being able to update the table with AJAX would be ideal. I have done a quick search on d.o and there doesn't appear to be any modules that stick out straight away. Does anyone have any experience with this?

  • How to get rid of Drupal CSS stylesheets?

    I am trying to accomplish the following. I need to use Drupal 6 as a project requirement, but I want to use it with my own HTML and CSS stylesheets for each node/view/panel etc. The problem is, whatever the theme, I always found that Drupal applies to my HTML content both my CSS stylesheets and the CSS related to the theme chosen. I have also tried, without success, using the stylestripper module (installed in sites/all/modules). No matter what I do, additional CSS stylesheets are applied to my pages, completely destroying my layout. What is the proper way to achieve this? Why stylestripper does not work at all? Is there a completely blank theme available? I have tried basic, mothership, zen etc, but I always see additional CSS stylesheets applied to my pages. This is driving me crazy, Drupal was chosen by someone else for its flexibility. Thank you in advance.

  • Installing Win32 shared SxS policy via WiX 3.0 MSM fails for 2nd app

    I am attempting to author a merge module for use by multiple application installers to install a Win32 Shared SxS Assembly and its associated Policy. I'm using WiX 3.0 to generate the MSM and test MSIs. So far it works fine for the first app installer that runs … but the second app installer fails because the Policy file already exists (HRESULT: 0x800700B7). What requirement(s) for correct Win32 Shared SxS Policy installation am I missing? I have submitted WiX bug 3005301 for this (https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=642714&aid=3005301&group_id=105970) and posted VS2008 projects that reproduce the problem.   • Is there any special tool for interactive GUI development

    Hi, Currently I am preparing exercises about networks and mobile communications for students. I was thinking about creating an interactive user-interface which enables the user to drag&drop predefined elements and then implement a logic based upon element distances etc. An example would be to place two base stations (a predefined element with several properties), set the scale in the interface and then check the signal interferrence in the environment (user-interface). The first part might be too abstract whereas the example might be too specific, but I was wondering whether there already exists any friendly framework or language which enables developers to create interactive interfaces (for teaching/learning purpouses) in short ammount of time. Usually I write applications for PC environment in .NET but in this case it would take too much time to create a specific interface for every exercise. I would appreciate if anyone could suggest any way to create interactive user-interface in short ammount of time. Are there any special programming languages or development tools for this kind of applications or are there any useful frameworks for .NET, Java or any other language to speed up the development of user-interfaces?   • Can't get MySQL source query to work using Python mysqldb module

    I have the following lines of code: sql = "source C:\\My Dropbox\\workspace\\projects\\hosted_inv\\create_site_db.sql" cursor.execute (sql) When I execute my program, I get the following error: Error 1064: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'source C:\My Dropbox\workspace\projects\hosted_inv\create_site_db.sql' at line 1 Now I can copy and past the following into mysql as a query: source C:\\My Dropbox\\workspace\\projects\\hosted_inv\\create_site_db.sql And it works perfect. When I check the query log for the query executed by my script, it shows that my query was the following: source C:\\My Dropbox\\workspace\\projects\\hosted_inv\\create_site_db.sql However, when I manually paste it in and execute, the entire create_site_db.sql gets expanded in the query log and it shows all the sql queries in that file. Am I missing something here on how mysqldb does queries? Am I running into a limitation. My goal is to run a sql script to create the schema structure, but I don't want to have to call mysql in a shell process to source the sql file. Any thoughts? Thanks!

    Hello I'd like to build a "Rails Brick" using a Sheevaplug from Marvell (O.S. is Ubuntu out of the box but You can install other distributions on It). It will be a home server and a silent, low cost (99$) low energy development machine. I'd like to add rails RVM, lot of gems, git-based heroku like deployment, passenger + nginx. This way I could have a portable server with a complete development environment and maybe I could find a hosting company where I can co-locate a grid of this devices or I can sell It as a simple little server for 10 or less users offices, with some centralized rails services (I think to a CMS, a BLOG, a WIKI, calendar or whatever this little jewel could afford). The usb port could make It a print server too or a UMTS link to the web via HUAWEI like usb UMTS keys. Can you give me some hint about: Is this project a crazy-close-to-failure idea? Why? which gem would You include? which rails open source app would you suggest? I have already an Excito Bubba Server at home, I saw the TonidoPlug so It came up in my mind to build something similiar but Rails based (Bubba is PHP based, TonidoPlug I don't know but It does not seems a Rails thing).

What utterly baffles me is that it WriteProcessMemory will sometimes complete successfully (though it does nothing at all, to my knowledge) and will also sometimes fail to complete successfully. As I've stated, my brain hurts. Any help appreciated.

  • Beginning 3.2+ iPhone development

    I'm interested in learning Objective C for iPhone development. This is a topic which I realize has been covered to death. The qualifying difference is: I'd like to start learning beginning with the latest version (the most recent iPhone OS as of May, 2010 is ver. 3.2 and 4 beta is also out). I'd like to not have to wade through or unlearn legacy information. Using the links I've found throughout related topics on Stack Overflow, I'll read a blog post or tutorial which will say one thing, but then the comments will say, "this is different now in version xyz." For example, I've found this a few times regarding memory management/garbage collection. I assume that Apple's "getting started" doc.s will have the most recent info but many SO posts have said that those are not the most clear. The Stanford iPhone course looks great, but how do I know if it still applies to the most recent versions? Where should one start learning Objective C for iPhone development starting with version 3.2 or later without having as much exposure to legacy information?

    I'm displaying cars on a page created with a view and displays. I want to be able to create a form on the home page to allow people to select the 'make', which will then update the 'models' list based on the 'make' the user selects, 'year' to and from, and 'amount' to and from. What the user selects will of course alter the list of used cars, whether that's on the existing used cars page or a new page. I would be happy to create a custom module if required, just need some direction. Thanks !

    After seeing the abilities and hackibility of wiimotes I really want to use it in my 'Intro to programming' final. Everyone must make a python program and present it to the class. I want to make a game with pygame incorporating a wiimote. I found pywiiuse which is a very basic wrapper for the wiiuse library using c types. I can NOT get anything beyond LEDs and vibrating to work. Buttons, IR, motion sensing, nothing. I've tried different versions of wiiuse, pywiiuse, even python. I can't even get the examples that came with it to run. Here's the code I made as a simple test.
