  Hi, I have to run a tool on around 300 directories. Each run take around 1 minute to 30 minute or even more than that. So, I wrote a python script having a loop to run the tool on all directories one after another. my python script has code something like: for directory in directories: os.popen('runtool_exec ' + directory) But when I run the python script I get the following error messages repeatedly: .. tail: write error: Broken pipe date: write error: Broken pipe .. All I do is login on a remote server using ssh where the tool, python script, and subject directories are kept. When I individually run the tool from command prompt using command like: runtool_exec directory it works fine. "broken pipe" error is coming only when I run using the python script. • C# Begin/EndReceive - how do I read large data?

  When reading data in chunks of say, 1024, how do I continue to read from a socket that receives a message bigger than 1024 bytes until there is no data left? Should I just use BeginReceive to read a packet's length prefix only, and then once that is retrieved, use Receive() (in the async thread) to read the rest of the packet? Or is there another way? edit: I thought Jon Skeet's link had the solution, but there is a bit of a speedbump with that code. The reason for this is if the buffer gets filled on a read it is assumed there is more data; but the same problem happens as before. A 2 byte buffer, for exmaple, gets filled twice on a 4 byte packet, and assumes there is more data. It then blocks because there is nothing left to read. The problem is that the receive function doesn't know when the end of the packet is. This got me thinking to two possible solutions: I could either have an end-of-packet delimiter or I could read the packet header to find the length and then receive exactly that amount (as I originally suggested). There's problems with each of these, though. I don't like the idea of using a delimiter, as a user could somehow work that into a packet in an input string from the app and screw it up. It also just seems kinda sloppy to me. The length header sounds ok, but I'm planning on using protocol buffers - I don't know the format of the data. Is there a length header? How many bytes is it? Would this be something I implement myself? Etc.. What should I do?

• Parsing a Directory of files - Check for a String

  This is my first post here so kindly pardon any mistakes that I have. I'm still learning to find my way around Stack Exchange. I am trying to write a Java program that tries to scan a Directory full of either .txt,.rtf or.doc files(and none other). The aim is to search all the files in the directory, and find out if a particular string exists in the file. If it does, it returns the string and the filename that it found the string in. The aim of this program is, it is a project for school wherein the program scans the personal folders of call center employees to check if they have stored any CC/DC nos and if yes, report the folder name - to reduce CC fraud. The search function was fairly straight forward and works when I individually specify the filename. However, the searching the directory and passing the files to the search function has me stumped. • Linux policy routing - packets not coming back

  i am trying to set up policy routing on my home server. My network looks like this: Host routed VPN gateway Internet link through VPN 192.168.0.35/24 ---> 192.168.0.5/24 ---> 192.168.0.1 DSL router 10.200.2.235/22 .... .... 10.200.0.1 VPN server The traffic from 192.168.0.32/27 should be and is routed through VPN. I wanted to define some routing policies to route some traffic from 192.168.0.5 through VPN as well - for start - from user with uid 2000. Policy routing is done using iptables mark target and ip rule fwmark. The problem: When connecting using user 2000 from 192.168.0.5 tcpdump shows outgoing packets, but nothing comes back. Traffic from 192.168.0.35 works fine (here I am not using fwmark but src policy). Why the first alert (inner..) outputs a valid entriesResult.length while the second one (outer..) always outputs a 0? I tought javascript arrays are always passed by reference, what's wrong whit my code? Thank you :)

  There's only room for three lines of text in the interface, but the content is external and variable, and if it ends up taking up more than three lines, there needs to be some sort of 'view all' button functionality. I can kind of think about what that function needs to look like, but I'm not quite sure what the best way to do it in AS3 would be. • Use $_FILES on a page called by .ajax

  I have two .php pages that I'm working with. Index.php has a file upload form that posts back to index.php. I can access the $_FILES no problem on index.php after submitting the form. My issue is that I want (after the form submit and the page loads) to use .ajax (jQuery) to call another .php file so that file can open and process some of the rows and return the results to ajax. The ajax then displays the results and recursively calls itself to process the next batch of rows. Basically I want to process (put in the DB etc) the csv in chunks and display it for the user in between chunks. Im doing it this way because the files are 400,000+ rows and the user doesnt want to wait the 10+ min for them all to be processed. I dont want to move this file (save it) because I just need to process it and throw it away and if a user closes the page while its processing the file wont be thrown away. I could cron script it but I dont want to. What I would really like to do is pass the (single) $_FILES through .ajax OR Save it in a $_POST or $_SESSION to use on the second page. Is there any hope for my cause? After several hours of digging into my SqlMembershipProvider (simplified version of built-in SqlMembershipProvider), I found that HMACSHA256 hash is not consistent. • Monotouch Binding to Linea Pro SDK

  I'm trying to create a binding to the Linea Pro (it's the barcode scanner they use in the Apple Stores, Lowes) SDK. I'm using David Sandor's bindings as a reference, but the SDK has been updated a few times since January of 2011. I have most everything working, except for the playSound call, which is used to, well, play a sound on the Linea Pro device. The .h file from the SDK has the call as follows: -(BOOL)playSound:(int)volume beepData:(int *)data length:(int)length error:(NSError **)error; I've tried using int[], NSArray, and an IntPtr to the int[], but nothing seems to work. The last unsuccessful iteration of my binding looks like: [Export ("playSound:beepData:length:")] void PlaySound (int volume, NSArray data, int length); Now, this doesn't work at all. Also note that I have no idea what to do with the error:(NSError **)error part, either. I am lacking some serious familiarity with C, so any help would be extremely appreciated.

  Hi, I have used an open source code from codeproject to read email from incoming mail server(POP Server). My objective of using this code was to retrieve emails from POP server and process them. My problem is: If i use gmails pop server "pop.gmail.com" and run the appplication. I get only those emails that i have not retrieved since the last time i run the application. but if i use my clients pop server everytime i run the application i get all the emails in the pop server. for example: If i use gmail pop server: pop.gmail.com I have three emails in the pop server. I haven't run the application. I am running the application for the first time. Application reads the email, this time i will get 3 all the three email. I run the application second time, my application will not read any emails this time because i have already read the 3 existing one. This is fine, this is what i want. Now i send email to pop.gmail.com. I run the application again for the third time, this time i will only get the email that has just arrived that is the fourth one. This is good behaviour, this is what i want. But if i use my clients pop server: No matter how many times i run the application, it reads all the emails in the mail box. This will create problem for me, because i am thinking of building a window service that will read emails from pop server and process them. This service will run continuously. I will process emails in the pop serve then sleep for let's say 1 minute and the process the emails again. If the application downloaded from codeproject reads all the emails all the time, my clients mailbox can have like thousands for email in this mail box, so this would not be feasible for me. Is there some settings that is to be made at my client's pop server that will allow my application to retrieve only those emails that i have not read since last time i run the service or any help Please help, thanks,

  I have this function called ProperCase that takes a string, then converts the first letter in each word to uppercase. So ProperCase("john smith") will return "John Smith". Here is the code: public string ProperCase(string input) { var retVal = string.Empty; var words = input.Split(' '); foreach (var word in words) { if (word.Length == 1) { retVal += word.ToUpper(); } else if (word.Length > 1) { retVal += word.Substring(0, 1).ToUpper() + word.Substring(1).ToLower(); } retVal += ' '; } if (retVal.Length > 0) { retVal = retVal.Substring(0, retVal.Length - 1); } return retVal; } This code workds perfectly, but I'm pretty sure I can do it more elegantly with LINQ and lambdas. Can some please show me how?

How can I make it stream and play as it's still downloading? Or is this up to the client/receiver application to manage?
