  • Is it valid to have more than one question mark in a URL?

    I came across the following URL today: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/inmarin/detail??blogid=122&entry_id=64497 Notice the doubled question mark at the beginning of the query string: ??blogid=122&entry_id=64497 My browser didn't seem to have any trouble with it, and running a quick bookmarklet: javascript:alert(document.location.search); just gave me the query string shown above. Is this a valid URL? The reason I'm being so pedantic (assuming that I am) is because I need to parse URLs like this for query parameters, and supporting doubled question marks would require some changes to my code. Obviously if they're in the wild, I'll need to support them; I'm mainly curious if it's my fault for not adhering to URL standards exactly, or if it's in fact a non-standard URL.

    Hi, I'm building a download manager in python for fun, and sometimes the connection to the server is still on but the server doesn't send me data, so read method (of HTTPResponse) block me forever. This happens, for example, when I download from a server, which located outside of my country, that limit the bandwidth to other countries.     I have multiple notes with class=.note and unique id each inside a div. On click of edit I grab the id, show hidden form #noteditor and hide all notes. I am using the load function to get the response (using codeigniter so url does work) and input result in the editorfrorm Textarea id = upnote... Firebug response looks ok and I have tried to inject into a div and this works fine, BUT getting this injto the text area is causing me some headaches. There is also the chance that i am going around this a convoluted way due to my limited knowledge...     I have been given the task of devising a custom forms manager that has a mysql backend. The problem I have now encountered after setting up all the front end, is how to process a form that is dynamic. For E.G Form one could contain 6 fields all with different name attributes in the input tag. Form two could contain 20 fields all with different name attributes in the input tag. How would i process the forms without using up oodles of resource.

    Hi, I'm using django-uni-forms to display my fields, with a rather rudimentary example straight out of their book. When I render the form fields using <form>{%csrf_tag%} {%form|as_uni_form%}</form>, everything works as expected. However, django-uni-form Helpers allow you to generate the form tag (and other helper-related content) using the following syntax -- {% with form.helper as helper %}{% uni_form form helper%}{%endwith%} -- This creates the <form> tag for me, so there's nowhere to embed my own CSRF_token. When I try to use this syntax, the form renders perfectly, but without a CSRF token, and so submitting the form fails every time. Does anyone have experience with this? Is there an established way to add the token? I much prefer the second syntax, for re-use reasons. Thanks!

  • Ajax/PHP - should I use one long running script or polling?

    Hello, I have a PHP script that is kicked off via ajax. This PHP script uses exec() to run a separate PHP script via the shell. The script that is called via exec() may take 30 seconds or so to complete. I need to update the UI once it is finished. Which of these options is preferred? a) Leave the HTTP connection open for the 30 seconds and wait for it to finish. b) Have exec() run the PHP script in the background and then use ajax polling to check for completion (every 5 seconds or so). c) Something else that I haven't thought of.     Hi, I am using Net Beans for developing an application on S60. I made one page for user authentication and using .net wcf service to authenticate user. i am able to send data on .net service by HttpGet method but not able to get response back on java page. I have tested it on fiddler with this url its working fine and returning response code 200, but not getting response code by java code. Following code i am using.   • http handlers not working on web server but works on localhost

    i have a couple of xml files in my asp.net web application that i don't want anyone to access other than my server side code. this is what i tried.. <add verb="*" path="*.xml" type="System.Web.HttpForbiddenHandler" /> i wrote this inside the <httpHandlers> it works well on the localhost but not in the server... the server without any hesitation displays the xml file... i have no idea how to proceed... thanks in advance..:)

  • Python Desktop Application with the Browser as an interface?

    I want to create an application that runs on the users computer, a stand-alone application, with installation and what-not, but I want the interface to be a browser, either internal and displayed as an OS window or external accessible using the browser (i.e. some http server). The reason would be because I know a little about Python, but I think I can manage as long as I have some basic roots that I can use and manipulate, and those would be HTML, CSS, and Javascript. I've yet to find a good GUI tool which I can use, and always abandon the idea after trying to mess around and eventually not getting anything.

    I develop Rails based website, enjoying using partials for some common "components" Recently, i faced a problem, that states with CSS interference. Styles for one component (described in css) override styles for another components. For example, one component has ... <ul class="items"> ... and another component has it too. But that ul's has different meaning in these two components. On the other hand, i want to "inherit" some styles for one component from another.     I need to convert string like this: $url = 'module/controller/action/param1/param1value/paramX/paramXvalue'; to url regarding current router (including translation and so on). Usually I generate the target urls using url view helper, but for this I need to specify all params, so I would need to manually explode the string. I tried to use request object, like this: $request = new Zend_Controller_Request_Http(); // some code here passing the $url Zend_Debug::dump($request->getControllerName()); // null instead of 'controllers' Zend_Debug::dump($request->getParams()); // null instead of array but this seems to be suspected. Do I need to dispatch this request? How to handle this case well?

  • Post Loading ads from Google Admanager

    I have changed code around to basically load an add the bottom of the page in a hidden div and attached an onload event handler that called document.getElementById(xxx).appendChild() to take the hidden ad and move it into the right spot in my page. This works GREAT.. however when the ad is a text ad it AFTER i move the ad there is nothing in the rendered Iframe. I did tests to see what it looks like before i move it and sure enough the text links load in the IFRAME but the second i do the appendChild call to move the div that contains the ad i seem to loose the contents of the Iframe.     I am embedding tracking images within emails that are being sent from a custom-built opt-in CRM system. The image src is an encoded .gif, such as src="12_34_675.gif". The image is served by an ASP.NET httphandler that decodes the src encoding and serves a transparent image. Everything works fine, but some email clients request the image multiple times, creating duplicate entries. Some clients make three calls all within one second, and some seem to make tens of calls over a day or so. Mostly email clients make single calls, but these few duplicates are very perplexing. I know I can code around them, but I'd really like to understand what's going on. I've checked the IIS log files, which show that the duplicate requests are coming from the client machines. I can't think what might be causing these duplicate http requests. Help!

  • Really Need a Facebook App to post to Facebook Page Wall?

    Hi, I'm using the Facebook API Graph (C# & ASP.NET) to try to dynamically post to a Facebook page I created. Looking at the code samples floating around.. they suggest creating a Facebook App first (which I have done).. However.. I have 3 different pages I want to post to.. Do I need to create an app for each? (I want to post different things to the 3 pages, not the same posts to each) I just want messages & links to appear as Wall posts. I'm not bothered about having an 'app' that has 'canvas' that is placed in an IFrame. Question : So do I still need to write one or more Facebook Apps to post to my 3 different Facebook pages?? Where I am so far.. I can pass in my apps credentials and get back the access_token. But my posts don't appear to be going anywhere. I'd rather drop the 'facebook application /canvas' approach if possible If I can post directly to a wall (For the above reasons). Oh, and before you ask. I don't want to post to my Apps Wall page, I want to post to my other pages (Unless I have to post to my Apps Wall page first?). I'm sure loads of people have the same questions..   • What is wrong with my Basic Authentication in FireFox?

    Hi folks, i'm trying to goto the following url :- http://user1:pass1@localhost:1234/api/users?format=xml nothing to complex. Notice how i've got the username/password in the url? this, i believe, is for basic authentication. When i do that, the Request Headers are MISSING the 'Authorize' header. Er... that's not right :( I have anonymous authentication only setup on the site. I don't want to have anon off and basic turned on .. because not all of the site requires basic.. only a few action methods. So .. why is this not working? Is this something to do with the fact my code is not sending a 401 challenge or some crap? For What It's Worth, my site is ASP.NET MVC1 running on IIS7 (and the same thing happens when i run it on cassini).
