  • Using Jquery.Form Plugin + MultiFile to automatically upload a single file

    I wanted to find a way to upload a single file*, in the background, have it start automatically after file selection, and not require a flash uploader, so I am trying to use two great mechanisms (jQuery.Form and JQuery MultiFile) together. I haven't succeeded, but I'm pretty sure it's because I'm missing something fundamental. Just using MultiFile, I define the form as follows... <form id="photoForm" action="image.php" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> The file input button is defined as... <input id="photoButton" "name="sourceFile" class="photoButton max-1 accept-jpg" type="file"> And the Javascript is... $('#photoButton').MultiFile({ afterFileSelect: function(){ document.getElementById("photoForm").submit(); } }); This works perfectly. As soon as the user selects a single file, MultiFile submits the form to the server. If instead of using MultiFile, as shown above, let's say I include a Submit button along with the JQuery Form plugin defined as follows... var options = { success: respondToUpload }; $('#photoForm').ajaxForm(options); ... this also works perfectly. When the Submit button is clicked, the form is uploaded in the background. What I don't know how to do is get these two to work together. If I use Javascript to submit the form (as shown in the MultiFile example above), the form is submitted but the JQuery.Form function is not called, so the form does not get submitted in the background. I thought that maybe I needed to change the form registration as follows... $('#photoForm').submit(function() { $('#photoForm').ajaxForm(options); }); ...but that didn't solve the problem. The same is true when I tried .ajaxSubmit instead of .ajaxForm. What am I missing? BTW: I know it might sound strange to use MultiFile for single-file uploads, but the idea is that the number of files will be dynamic based on the user's account. So, I'm starting with one but the number changes depending on conditions.

    I have question about a basic xml file I'm parsing and just putting in simple nextlines(Enters). I'll try to explain my problem with this next example. I'm( still) building an xml tree and all it has to do ( this is a testtree ) is put the summary in an itemlist. I then export it to a plist so I can see if everything is done correctly.   • vim plugin to show current Perl subroutine

    I'm trying to make a vim plugin that will split the window on load and simulate a info bar at the top of my terminal. I've got it sorta working but I think I've either reached limits of my knowledge of vim syntax or there's a logic problem in my code. The desired effect would be to do a reverse search for any declaration of a Perl subroutine form my current location in the active buffer and display the line in the top buffer. I'm also trying to make it skip that buffer when I switch buffers with <C-R>. My attempt at that so far can be seen in the mess of nested if statements. Anyway, here's the code.   • IE browser caching and the jQuery Form Plugin

    Like so many lost souls before me, I'm floundering in the snake pit that is Ajax form submission and IE browser caching. I'm trying to write a simple script using the jQuery Form Plugin to Ajaxify Wordpress comments. It's working fine in Firefox, Chrome, Safari, et. al., but in IE, the response text is cached with the result that Ajax is pulling in the wrong comment. jQuery(this).ajaxSubmit({ success: function(data) { var response = $("<ol>"+data+"</ol>"); response.find('.commentlist li:last').hide().appendTo(jQuery('.commentlist')).slideDown('slow'); } }); ajaxSubmit sends the comment to wp-comments-post.php, which inelegantly spits back the entire page as a response. So, despite the fact that it's ugly as toads, I'm sticking the response text in a variable, using :last to isolate the most recent comment, and sliding it down in its place. IE, however, is returning the cached version of the page, which doesn't include the new comment. So ".commentlist li:last" selects the previous comment, a duplicate of which then uselessly slides down beneath the original. I've tried setting "cache: false" in the ajaxSubmit options, but it has no effect. I've tried setting a url option and tacking on a random number or timestamp, but it winds up being attached to the POST that submits the comment to the server rather than the GET that returns the response, and so has no effect. I'm not sure what else to try. Everything works fine in IE if I turn off browser caching, but that's obviously not something I can expect anyone viewing the page to do. Any help will be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance! EDIT WITH A PROGRESS REPORT: A couple of people have suggested using PHP headers to prevent caching, and this does indeed work. The trouble is that wp-comments-post is spitting back the entire page when a new comment is submitted, and the only way I can see to add headers is to put them in the Wordpress post template, which disables caching on all posts at all times--not quite the behavior I'm looking for. Is there a way to set a php conditional--"if is_ajax" or something like that--that would keep the headers from being applied during regular pageloads, but plug them in if the page was called by an Ajax GET?

  • Supporting multiple instances of a plugin DLL with global data

    Context: I converted a legacy standalone engine into a plugin component for a composition tool. Technically, this means that I compiled the engine code base to a C DLL which I invoke from a .NET wrapper using P/Invoke; the wrapper implements an interface defined by the composition tool. This works quite well, but now I receive the request to load multiple instances of the engine, for different projects. Since the engine keeps the project data in a set of global variables, and since the DLL with the engine code base is loaded only once, loading multiple projects means that the project data is overwritten. I can see a number of solutions, but they all have some disadvantages: You can create multiple DLLs with the same code, which are seen as different DLLs by Windows, so their code is not shared. Probably this already works if you have multiple copies of the engine DLL with different names. However, the engine is invoked from the wrapper using DllImport attributes and I think the name of the engine DLL needs to be known when compiling the wrapper. Obviously, if I have to compile different versions of the wrapper for each project, this is quite cumbersome. The engine could run as a separate process. This means that the wrapper would launch a separate process for the engine when it loads a project, and it would use some form of IPC to communicate with this process. While this is a relatively clean solution, it requires some effort to get working, I don't now which IPC technology would be best to set-up this kind of construction. There may also be a significant overhead of the communication: the engine needs to frequently exchange arrays of floating-point numbers. The engine could be adapted to support multiple projects. This means that the global variables should be put into a project structure, and every reference to the globals should be converted to a corresponding reference that is relative to a particular project. There are about 20-30 global variables, but as you can imagine, these global variables are referenced from all over the code base, so this conversion would need to be done in some automatic manner. A related problem is that you should be able to reference the "current" project structure in all places, but passing this along as an extra argument in each and every function signature is also cumbersome. Does there exist a technique (in C) to consider the current call stack and find the nearest enclosing instance of a relevant data value there? Can the stackoverflow community give some advice on these (or other) solutions?

    I've been struggling a bit with the jQuery Form plugin. I want to create a file upload form that posts the data (JSON, from the chosen file) into a REST service exposed by a servlet. The URL for the POST is calculated from what the user chooses in a SELECT dropdown. When the upload is complete, I want to notify the user immediately, AJAX-style. The problem is that the POST header has a Content-Length of 0 and contains no data.   • Using XmlDiffPatch when writing to stream

    I am trying to use xmldiffpatch when comparing two Xmls(one from a stream, the other from a file) and writing the diff patch to a stream. The first method is to write my xml to a memory stream. The second method loads an xml from a file and creates a stream for the patched file to be written into. The third method actually compares the two files and writes the third. The xmldiff.Compare(originalFile, finalFile, dgw); method takes (XmlReader, XmlReader, XmlWriter). I'm always getting that both files are identical, even though they are not, so I know that I am missing something.   • use simplexml to get attributes of elements

    I am trying to parse an xml file with a soap envelope from a web service using php. I would like to use SoapClient, but I get an error back that 'page must be viewed over secure channel SSL', which I think is an issue on their end, so I gave up on that. Currently I am using curl to get a result back. What I need is the attributes in the last tag that starts with _x0023_temp_list. I'm not sure if the tag is always going to be named that, so I will probably also have to deal with getting attributes from the tag with the xs namespace as well. I've read quite a few other posts and have tried several different methods of getting the info and so far nothing has seemed to work.

  • Replace text in XSL using wildcards

    This is similar to an earlier problem I was having which you guys solved in less than a day. I am working with XML files that are generated by a digital video camera. The camera allows the user to save all of the camera's settngs to an SD card so that the settings can be recalled or loaded into another camera. The XSL stylesheet I am writing will allow users to view the camera's settings, as saved to the SD card in a web browser. While most of the values in the XML file -- as formatted by my stylesheet -- make sense to humans, some do not. What I would like to do is have the stylesheet display text that is based on the value in the XML file but more easily understood by humans. A typical value that can be written to the XML file is "_23_970" which represents the camera's frame rate. This would be better displayed as 23.970 (or 023.970). The first underscore is a sort of place holder to make a space for values over 099.999. The second underscore, obviously represents the decimal. My previous (similar) question involved replacing predictable text, and the solution was matching templates. In this case, however, the camera can be set at any one of 119,999 frame rates (I think I did that math correctly). The approach, I would guess, is to pass a value to the displayed webpage that keeps the numeric values (each digit), replaces the second underscore with a decimal, and replaces the first underscore with either an nbsp or a zero (whichever is easier). If the first character in the string is a "1" (the camera can run at frame rates up to 120.000) then the one should be passed on to the page displayed by the stylesheet. I have read other posts here regarding wildcards, but couldn't find one that answered this question. EDIT: Sorry for leaving out important info. I fared better on my first try at asking a question! I guess I got complacent. Anyhow . . .     I must be missing something obvious, but everything that I've tried for this is leaving me empty handed, so I'm a bit puzzled. I'm attempting to use the jQuery validation plugin with custom validation methods, but it seems to be hit or miss. It seems that I am able to successfully add rules to a certain extent, but some of the methods are not applied. Or the specified method is not applied, and the incorrect method is instead applied. But then I add, in the same exact manner, a validation test for names. I've added console.log calls to all methods, and indeed, it's not that one is being called after the other - the only one being called is name. I've checked and double checked that the element selection is good. I've checked that everything is groovy with the methods themselves. Any ideas?

Tried to add jboss-servlet-api_3.0_spec-1.0.0.Final.jar file in that directory and updated module.xml too. But, it shows a very long trail of stacktraces :) I have even removed beans.xml. No change. I have never tried JBoss before. Any help would be highly appreciated.

  • Android: Adding extended GLSurfaceView to a Layout don't show 3d stuff

    I make a game extending the class GLSurfaceView, if I apply SetContentView directly to that class, the 3d stuff and input works great. Now I want to show some items over 3d stuff, so I create a XML with a layout and some objects, and I try to add my class manually to the layout.   • Issues POSTing XML to OAuth and Signature Invalid with Ruby OAuth Gem

I authenticate fine, I store and retrieve the token/secret for a given user with no problem, I can even make GET requests to a number of services using the gem. But when I try using the one service I need POST for, I'm getting a 401 "invalid signature" response. Perhaps I'm not understanding how to pass in data to the AccessToken's post method, so here's a sample of my code: xml = <<-XML <Request> <Trip> <start_date>2008-12-09</start_date> <end_date>2008-12-27</end_date> <primary_location>New York, NY</primary_location> </Trip> </Request> XML` response = access_token.post('/v1/create', {:xml => xml}, {'Content-Type' => 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded'}) I've tried this with and without escaping the xml string before hand. I output signature (from the same file) and the output doesn't match the oauth_signature param of the Auth header in lib/client/ net_http.rb. It's been URL-encoded in the auth header. Is this correct? Anyone know if the gem is broken/if there's a fix somewhere? I'm finding it hard to trace through some of the code.

    Since I updated today to GAE 1.7.2.1, I'm having validation errors in eclipse in all my jdoconfig.xml files. I have the default jdoconfig.xml content : [...] <jdoconfig xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jdo/jdoconfig" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jdo/jdoconfig"> [...] And eclipse validation throws: Referenced file contains errors (http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jdo/jdoconfig). For more information, right click on the message in the Problems View and select "Show Details..." When clicking on details I can see a bunch of lines like: s4s-elt-character: Non-whitespace characters are not allowed in schema elements other than 'xs:appinfo' and 'xs:documentation'. Saw 'var_U = "undefined";'. In different lines and different content in "Saw ... " It occurs in every single project I start using the "New Web Application Project..." from the google plugin. So does anyone have this problem? Any fix?

    I am using Spring for the first time and must be doing something wrong. I have a project with several Bean implementations and now I am trying to create a test class with Spring Test and JUnit. I am trying to use Spring Test to inject a customized bean into the test class. Here is my test-applicationContext.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <beans xmlns="............."> <bean id="MyUuidFactory" class="com.myapp.UuidFactory" scope="singleton" > <property name="typeIdentifier" value="CLS" /> </bean> <bean id="ThingyImplTest" class="com.myapp.ThingyImplTest" scope="singleton"> <property name="uuidFactory"> <idref local="MyUuidFactory" /> </property> </bean> </beans> The injection of MyUuidFactory instance goes along with the following code from within the test class: private UuidFactory uuidFactory; public void setUuidFactory(UuidFactory uuidFactory) { this.uuidFactory = uuidFactory; } However, when I go to run the test (in Eclipse or command line) I get the following error (stack trace omitted for brevity): Caused by: org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'MyImplTest' defined in class path resource [test-applicationContext.xml]: Initialization of bean failed; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.ConversionNotSupportedException: Failed to convert property value of type 'java.lang.String' to required type 'com.myapp.UuidFactory' for property 'uuidFactory'; nested exception is java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cannot convert value of type [java.lang.String] to required type [com.myapp.UuidFactory] for property 'uuidFactory': no matching editors or conversion strategy found Funny thing is, the Eclipse/Spring XML editor shows errors of I misspell any of the types or idrefs. If I leave the bean in, but comment out the dependency injection, everything work until I get a NullPointerException while running the test...which makes sense.

    I am unable to override attributes when using <include> in my Android layout files. When I searched for bugs, I found Declined Issue 2863: "include tag is broken (overriding layout params never works)" Since Romain indicates this works in the test suites and his examples, I must be doing something wrong. My project is organized like this: res/layout buttons.xml res/layout-land receipt.xml res/layout-port receipt.xml The buttons.xml contains something like this: <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal"> <Button .../> <Button .../> </LinearLayout> And the portrait and landscape receipt.xml files look something like: <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical"> ... <!-- Overridden attributes never work. Nor do attributes like the red background, which is specified here. --> <include android:id="@+id/buttons_override" android:background="#ff0000" android:layout_width="fill_parent" layout="@layout/buttons"/> </LinearLayout> What am I missing?
