  • Maintain Added List Item while binding from datasource

    - by Kronass
Hi, I have a drop down list, and I added some items in it as follows <asp:DropDownList ID="ddlInsAuther" runat="server" DataSourceID="ObjectDataSourceInsAuthers" DataTextField="AutherName" DataValueField="AutherID"> <asp:ListItem Value="-1">No Authers</asp:ListItem> </asp:DropDownList> And in Datasource <asp:ObjectDataSource ID="ObjectDataSourceInsAuthers" runat="server" SelectMethod="GetAll" TypeName="MyProject.BusinessLayer.AuthersFactory"> </asp:ObjectDataSource> When it loads it clears the list and loads the new items, I don't want to make a custom binder on page load, how can I maintain my added items in the list while binding from datasource?

  • Best 3rd Party WPF Datagrid

    - by John
We need a powerful datagrid for financial applications to replace existing winforms datagrids. Has anyone tried any 3rd party WPF datagrids recently? We tested a number of WPF grids over a year ago, but at the time they weren't up to standards when compared to their winforms counterparts (in terms of functionality). Please do not reply with: WPF Toolkit ListView You don't need datagrids

  • Add ability to provide list items to composite control with DropDownLIst

    - by Kyle
I'm creating a composite control for a DropDownList (that also includes a Label). The idea being that I can use my control like a dropdown list, but also have it toss a Label onto the page in front of the DDL. I have this working perfectly for TextBoxes, but am struggling with the DDL because of the Collection (or Datasource) component to populate the DDL. Basically I want to be able to do something like this: <ecc:MyDropDownList ID="AnimalType" runat="server" LabelText="this is what will be in the label"> <asp:ListItem Text="dog" Value="dog" /> <asp:ListItem Text="cat" Value="cat" /> </ecc:MyDropDownList> The problem is, I'm not extending the DropDownList class for my control, so I can't simply work it with that magic. I need some pointers to figure out how I can turn my control (MyDropDownList), which is currently just a System.Web.UI.UserControl, into something that will accept List items within the tag and ideally, I'd like to be able to plug it into a datasource (the same functions that the regular DDL offers). I tried with no luck just extending the regular DDL, but couldn't get the Label component to fly with it.

  • C#, WPF. Length of string that will fit in a specific width.

    - by Ian
Hi, I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, I have an area in which I intend to draw text. I know its (the area) height and width. I wish to know how many characters/Words will fit in the width, characters preferably. Second question, If the line is too long I'll want to draw a second line, so I guess I need to get the height of the text as well, including what ever it considers the right vertical padding? I'd also rather like to know the inverse, i.e. how many characters I can fit in a specific width. I assume the fact that WPF isn't constrained to pixels will have some bearing on the answer? Ultimately I'm planning on wrapping text around irregular shaped images embedded in the text. Any pointers in the right direction would be great. Thanks

  • Do you prefer a Grid of ContentControl elements?

    - by rasx
Today I am led to say for the greatest level of flexibility using a Grid of ContentControl elements is the way to go. Are there any caveats coming for choosing this strategy? (Note that, of course, I am not referring to the DataGrid or the GridView of a ListView.)

  • aspx listbox control

    - by lissa
i tried to extend the listbox control and override its RenderEndTag method. everything works well if i used the control directly in a webapage. ie, the RenderEndTag is called. but when i try to put the control in a WebUserControl and use the webusercontorl in a webpage, the RenderEndTag of the extended control is not called. this is strange because the constructor is being called but the RenderEndTag method is not! any ideas about fixing the issue?

  • WPF (irc) chat log control

    - by user408952
I'm trying to learn WPF and was thinking about creating a simple IRC client. The most complicated part is to create the chat log. I want it to look more or less like the one in mIRC: or irssi: The important parts are that the text should be selectable, lines should wrap and it should be able to handle quite large logs. The alternatives that I can come up with are: StackPanel inside a ScrollViewer where each line is a row ListView, since that seems more suitable for dynamic content/data binding. Create an own control that does the rendering on its own. Is there any WPF guru out there that has some ideas on which direction to take and where to start?

  • WPF Treeview: How to display rounded border around the selected item?

    - by chikak
    I am trying to set the rounded border around the selected item of the treeview (like the one in the windows explorer on Vista). The problem is that the trigger in the following code doesn't seem to be working. It looks like the IsSelected property is always false. <TreeView x:Name="m_treeView" BorderThickness="0" d:LayoutOverrides="Width, Height"> <TreeView.Resources> <Style TargetType="TreeViewItem"> <Style.Resources> <Brush x:Key="{x:Static SystemColors.HighlightBrushKey}">Transparent</Brush> </Style.Resources> </Style> </TreeView.Resources> <TreeView.ItemTemplate> <HierarchicalDataTemplate DataType="{x:Type local:DirectoryPresentationBase}" ItemsSource="{Binding Children}"> <TreeViewItem> <TreeViewItem.Header> <Border Name="SelectedBorder" CornerRadius="3" Background="#EFF8FD" BorderBrush="#99DEFD" BorderThickness="1" > <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <interactivity:Interaction.Behaviors> <local:TreeViewExpandBehavior AssociatedTreeView="{Binding ElementName=m_treeView}"/> </interactivity:Interaction.Behaviors> <Image x:Name="img" Width="24" Height="16" Stretch="None" Source="{Binding SmallIcon}"/> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Name}" Margin="5,0" /> </StackPanel> </Border> </TreeViewItem.Header> </TreeViewItem> <HierarchicalDataTemplate.Triggers> <Trigger Property="TreeViewItem.IsSelected" Value="True"> <Setter Property="Background" TargetName="SelectedBorder" Value="Red"/> <Setter Property="BorderBrush" TargetName="SelectedBorder" Value="Green"/> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="TreeViewItem.IsSelected" Value="False"> <Setter Property="Background" TargetName="SelectedBorder" Value="Transparent"/> <Setter Property="BorderBrush" TargetName="SelectedBorder" Value="Transparent"/> </Trigger> </HierarchicalDataTemplate.Triggers> </HierarchicalDataTemplate> </TreeView.ItemTemplate> </TreeView>

  • Persisting a collection backed by viewstate in a CompositeControl

    - by tomfanning
Maybe it's been a long day but I'm having trouble persisting a collection backed by the ASP.NET ViewState in a CompositeControl. Here's a simplified version: public class MyControl : CompositeControl { public Collection<MyObject> MyObjectCollection { get { return (Collection<MyObject>)ViewState["coll"] == null ? new Collection<MyObject>() : (Collection<MyObject>)ViewState["coll"]; } set { ViewState["coll"] = value; } } } public partial class TestPage : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void btn_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { myControl1.MyObjectCollection.Add(new MyObject()); } } When the button is clicked, the event hander btn_Click executes fine, but the setter for MyObjectCollection never gets called, hence the new MyObject() never gets persisted. I think I'm just having a blonde moment. Anyone fancy helping out?

  • MS Chart Control for ASP.NET 100% Stacked Bar Chart Question.

    - by Jacob Huggart
Hello All, I am trying to display a chart with several different bars that represent a ratio of some values. For example, one bar may say that there are 25 items in three different groups (maybe dirty, clean, and broken) and of those 25 items x items from each category add up to the total. Later the data will dynamically change and be displayed accordingly. But for now all I want to do is be able to display three different values on the same bar. Unfortunately, whatever properties I need to bind the data to are buried somewhere in the menus and I cannot seem to find them. Do any of you guys have experience with this sort of chart?
