• starting subactivity for the second time causes java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

  Hi there, I am developing a simple app which does a little bit of image-processing. It's divided in two activities; the main one with some display elements and the second one which is used to capture images off the phone's camera. To discribe my problem: I start the app, capture an image (by starting a new Intent with the subactivity) and all data is displayed correctly. If I capture another image after this, I run in an java.lang.OutOfMemoryError - bitmap size exceeds VM budget I dont store the captured bitmap, in the second activity I just extract some data from it and pass it to the main-activity; finishing (finish()) the sub-activity afterwards. I really dont know what I can do about it. • How to Install two library CGNS for Fortran under WIndows XP

  Hello, I have to install two libraries CGNS to use it in Fortan, but I don't understand how, the basic instructions are: To compile under MS Windows: configure.bat [options] then gmake if using GNU make, or nmake if using nmake. NOTE: This assumes that the cl compiler is in your path, and that the INCLUDE and LIB environment variables are set to include the directories containing the MSC include files and libraries. If not, you will need to use full path names to cl and link, and define INCLUDE and LIB in make.win32. You may also execute VCVARS32.BAT in the BIN directory of your VC installation to set these up prior to running nmake. so what i did was to: tape configure.bat it creates the rights files I set the news paths and lib, include for the cl.exe and link.exe but now the warning and error messages are about the clui.dll. cl -nologo -I. -Iadf -FoWIN32\cgns_error.obj -c cgns_error.c Cannot load language resource clui.dll what can i do now?   I've never written drivers before but I'm starting an open-source project that involves creating virtual MIDI ports that will send the MIDI data over a network. For this, I presume I would be creating some sort of virtual driver using WDM (unless it's possible with kernel hooks?) - but being a beginner to driver development I don't know where to begin. • Right recursive grammar or left recursive?

  I have little to no knowledge of what I'm about to ask, so I would like a suggestion based on the level of skills required to implemented a parser for the given grammar ( since I'm a beginner in this kind of formal approach to parsers and languages ). Just by going back of a couple of years, this situation reminds me a little of Pascal grammar vs C/C++ grammar, this left vs right stuff. But I'm not going to do any of that, my purpose is to implement a simple parser for a markup language for documents like Markdown. So considering that I'm starting with a markup language in mind, I want to keep things simple, which is the easiest one to handle between this 2 options and why . Another kind of grammar could be an easier option for me ? If yes which one do you suggest ?

I have a table table_categories (id INT(11), cname VARCHAR(25),survey_id INT(11)) I want to retrieve the values for the column cname without duplication, that is distinct values but with all the values in the other column. id cname survey_id -- -------- --------- 1 Trader 2 2 Beginner 2 25 Human 1 26 Human 2 From the above example I want to retrieve distinct cnames with all the values of the survey_id. I don't want to use any programming language. Is there any way by using a single query. Please give me a solution in MySQL.

  I have came across the following code, and being a c beginner, I came here for your help. This function is from a c implmentation of a queue. Bool queuePut(Queue *q, char c) { void beep(); if (queueFull(q)) { beep(); return false; } //do stuff return true; } So, I am getting a strange error with gcc on the void beep(). Can someone please explain me what is this, declaring a function inside a function. Or is it the void beep() simply out of place?   Ok so I'm a complete beginner when it comes to Spring and EJB and I really want to change it, the problem is I can't find any single book on Spring 3/EJB 3, everything is about 2 (for Spring/EJB) or 2.5 (for Spring). What are the differences between 2.x and 3? Should I just go with the 2.x books and then google the differences? I was thinking about getting Pro Spring 2.5 from Apress and Head First EJB (huge fan, ut from what I've heard it is rather out of date), or are there better positions?

  My input file is going to be something like this key "value" key "value" ... the above lines repeat What I do is read the file contents, populate an object with the data and return it. There are only a set number of keys that can be present in the file. Since I am a beginner in python, I feel that my code to read the file is not that good My code is something like this ObjInstance = CustomClass() fields = ['key1', 'key2', 'key3'] for field in fields: for line in f: if line.find(field) >= 0: if pgn_field == 'key1': objInstance.DataOne = get_value_using_re(line) elif pgn_field == 'key2': objInstance.DataTwo = get_value_using_re(line) return objInstance; The function "get_value_using_re" is very simple, it looks for a string in between the double quotes and returns it. I fear that I will have multiple if elif statements and I don't know if this is the right way or not. Am I doing the right thing here?

  Are there any good reasons why I should not use XIB / NIB files with an highly customized UI and extensive animations and super low memory footprint needs? As a beginner I started with XIB. Then I figured out I couldn't do just about everything in them. It started to get really hard to customize things the way I wanted them to be. So at the end, I threw all my XIBs away and did it all programmatically. So when someone asks me if XIB is good, I generally say: Yeah, if you want to make crappy boring interfaces and don't care too much about performance, go ahead. But what else could be a reason not to use XIB? Am I the only iPhone developer who prefers doing everything programmatically for this reasons?

  To instantiate a Stateful Session Bean inside of a JSP/ servlet, I am using: InitialContext ic = new InitialContext(); SomeStateful state = (SomeStateful) ic.lookup("java:comp/env/SomeStatefulBean"); Trial and error had me prefix the name of my EJB with java:comp/env/, so the above works (on Glassfish 2.1). However I want to know what the proper way to obtain this prefix is. Is there a CLI tool or function somewhere in the admin panel that will allow we to examine/ alter this? Is this platform/ application server dependant? Is there a setting within my ear, EJB-jar or war which I can examine or alter for this? (Forgive the beginner question) Thanks!

• VIM comma is missing in insert mode

  Hi folks, I'm a VIM beginner, and I have a weird problem. I started using vim in a terminal emulator, but today I moved to gVim. Then I realized that I cannot write a comma in Insert mode! I tried :map ,, :imap , both said no mapping found. THen I tried :nomap , and :inomap , both without any luck. As writing the commands, I am able to write the comma, but not in insert mode. What can be the problem? Some details: I'm running a freshly installed ubuntu 9.04 system, with an english keyboard, but using a hungarian layout. I am able to write a comma in vim when writing into the "command line" of vim, after pressing : in command mode.

I need to save data in minutes but User have privilege to choose will his input be in minutes, days or hours. So i have to do if loop. I now how if loop works but i don't know how to wite it in grails. I was thinking something like this: n=1 if(params.type=Dani){ n= 3600 }else if(params.type=Sati) { n=60 } def minute=params.minute*n but how to call that choosen input "Dani"? I can't write Params.type=Dani. Does if loop go in controller in my case?

• Python 2.6 and 3.1.1, earlier version compatibility

  I ordered three books to start teaching myself Python - a beginning programming book, a computer science book that uses Python for all of its code references, and a book on Python network programming. Unfortunately, I was a little too quick on ordering them, because I hadn't noticed the version differences. The beginner book is for python 3.1, the CS book is Python 2.3, and the last is Python 2.6. The CS book is also oriented towards beginners. My question is, will the different versions be too different at this level for me to effectively use all three, or will I likely be able to get by learning from the 3.1 beginners book and then sort of teach myself from the 2.3 CS book, and be able to comprehend 2.6 code? That probably didn't make sense. I hope it did.

• Keeping track of changes I make by copying project folders.

  Hello, I'm a beginner so if there is a terminology for what I'm doing I don't know how to search for it. So forgive me if this has been asked before. So here is what I do. Before I make any major code changes, I make a copy of the projects folder and call it "project v6" for example. Then if I really mess things up and cant find a way to undo it, i just go back to the previous folder. This has been working well enough for me but sometimes I forget to do this have have to take 2 steps back. Is there an easier way to do this than the way I am now? Thanks
