  • Can a DataTemplate be a Page?

    I'm using the MVVM pattern to create a WPF standalone application. My program compiles in Visual Studio 2008, but I frequently get warnings in the editor for my DataTemplates. In my MainWindow.xaml, I've defined the following DataTemplate: <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type ViewModels:TagViewModel}"> <Views:TagView /> </DataTemplate> Where "TagView" is derived from a Page, rather than an ordinary UserControl. This causes the following message to appear every time I reload the designer in Visual Studio: "Could not create an instance of type 'TagView'. Yet the solution compiles fine and the program seems to work properly. Is this a bug in the Visual Studio 2008 editor? Or am I doing something wrong?

  • How to evaluate a custom math expression in Python

    I'm writing a custom dice rolling parser (snicker if you must) in python. Basically, I want to use standard math evaluation but add the 'd' operator: #xdy sum = 0 for each in range(x): sum += randInt(1, y) return sum So that, for example, 1d6+2d6+2d6-72+4d100 = (5)+(1+1)+(6+2)-72+(5+39+38+59) = 84 I was using regex to replace all 'd's with the sum and then using eval, but my regex fell apart when dealing with parentheses on either side. Is there a faster way to go about this than implementing my own recursive parsing? Perhaps adding an operator to eval?

    I have a file with many rows. Each row has a column which may contain comma separated values. I need each row to be distinct (ie no comma separated values). Here is an example row: AB AB10,AB11,AB12,AB15,AB16,AB21,AB22,AB23,AB24,AB25,AB99 ABERDEEN Aberdeenshire The columns are comma separated (Postcode area, Postcode districts, Post town, Former postal county). So the above row would get turned into: AB AB10 ABERDEEN Aberdeenshire AB AB11 ABERDEEN Aberdeenshire AB AB12 ABERDEEN Aberdeenshire ... ... I tried the following but it didn't work...     I have the following input to a perl script and I wish to get the first occurrence of NAME="..." strings in each of the ... structures. The entire file is read into a single string and the reg exp acts on that input. However, the regex always returns the LAST occurrence of NAME="..." strings. Can anyone explain what is going on and how this can be fixed?     Not that I would want to use this practically (for many reasons) but out of strict curiousity I would like to know if there is a way to reverse order a string using LINQ and/or LAMBDA expressions in one line of code, without utilising any framework "Reverse" methods. e.g. string value = "reverse me"; string reversedValue = (....); and reversedValue will result in "em esrever" EDIT Clearly an impractical problem/solution I know this, so don't worry it's strictly a curiosity question around the LINQ/LAMBDA construct.

    This simple Python method I put together just checks to see if Tomcat is running on one of our servers. import urllib2 import re import sys def tomcat_check(): tomcat_status = urllib2.urlopen('http://10.1.1.20:7880') results = tomcat_status.read() pattern = re.compile('<body>Tomcat is running...</body>',re.M|re.DOTALL) q = pattern.search(results) if q == []: notify_us() else: print ("Tomcat appears to be running") sys.exit() If this line is not found : <body>Tomcat is running...</body> It calls : notify_us() Which uses SMTP to send an email message to myself and another admin that Tomcat is no longer runnning on the server... I have not used the re module in Python before...so I am assuming there is a better way to do this... I am also open to a more graceful solution with Beautiful Soup ... but haven't used that either.. Just trying to keep this as simple as possible...

When I look in the bin folder in visual studio there the references are not shown, but if I go to the references in the property pages for the website they are shown as GAC. Shouldn't dll's in GAC be shown under references for a website project in visual studio?

  • Regular expression for parsing CSV in PHP

    I already managed to split the CSV file using this regex: "/,(?=(?:[^\"]\"[^\"]\")(?![^\"]\"))/" But I ended up with an array of strings that contain the opening and ending double quotes. Now I need a regex that would strip those strings of the delimiter double quotes. As far as I know the CSV format can encapsulate strings in double quotes, and all the double quotes that are already a part of the string are doubled. For example: My "other" cat becomes "My ""other"" cat" What I basically need is a regex that will replace all sequences of N doublequotes with a sequence of (N/2 - rounded down) double quotes. Or is there a better way ? Thanks in advance.

  • How to open different App version for one given file extension

    We have a data files with an extension ".ppx" for our business app here. Users will typically have multiple versions of the application installed (side by side) for example version 1 and version 2. The ppx files are xml files and they contain the version of the app they were created from (v1 or v2). Lets say that we have AFileCreatedWithAppv1.ppx and AFileCreatedWithAppv2.ppx opens with version 1 or version 2 of our app respectivly when they both have the same file extension? It must be doable since that is what Visual Studio does. In fact, they even provide different icons for the same .sln extension to indicate what Visual Studio version it will open with. I learned that Visual Studio is using the Selector or Launcher in between, but then again, how do they change the icons in Windows? cheers :)

  • Issue with my regular expression?

    I'm trying to locate the number matches in a relative path for directory up references("..\"). So I have the following pattern : "(..\)" which works as expected for the path "....\a\b" where it will give me 2 successfull groups ("..\") but when I try the path "..\a\b" it will also return 2 when it should be 1. I tried this in a reg ex tool such Expresso and it seems to work as expected in there but not in in .net, any ideas?
