  I am writing a Suds (Python) SOAP client for an Axis2 server I have no control over. Suds chokes on the WSDL file with the following exception: File "site-packages/suds/wsdl.py", line 494, in resolve raise Exception("msg '%s', not-found" % op.input) Exception: msg 'axis2:null', not-found This is the WSDL file (I have replaced the hostnames with localhost). • Maven2 multi-module ejb 3.1 project - deployment error

  The problem is taht I get the following error qhile deploying my project to Glassfish: java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to load EJB module. DeploymentContext does not contain any EJB Check archive to ensure correct packaging But, let us start on how the project structure looks like in Maven2... I've build the following scenario: MultiModuleJavaEEProject - parent module - model --- packaged as jar - ejb1 ---- packaged as ebj - ejb2 ---- packaged as ebj - web ---- packaged as war So model, ejb1, ejb2 and web are children/modules of the parent MultiModuleJavaEEProject. _ejb1 depends on model. _ejb2 depends on ejb1. _web depends on ejb2. the pom's look like: _parent: <?xml version="1.0" One of these NamedQueries has a the enum attribute as a parameter i.e. SELECT m FROM Message m WHERE status = :status When i try to ru n the query i get the following error; Caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: You have attempted to set a value of type class my.package.Status for parameter status with expected type of class my.package.Status from query string SELECT m FROM Message m WHERE m.status = :status. I'm using Toplink How is this? How would i make JPA happy?

• Replace values in a dataframe based on another factor which contains NA's in R

  I have a dataframe which contains (among other things) a numeric column with a concentration, and a factor column with a status flag. This status flag contains NA's. Here's an example df<-structure(list(conc = c(101.769, 1.734, 62.944, 92.697, 25.091, 27.377, 24.343, 55.084, 0.335, 23.280), status = structure(c(NA, NA, NA, NA, NA, NA, 2L, NA, 1L, NA), .Label = c("<LLOQ", "NR"), class = "factor")), .Names = c("conc", "status"), row.names = c(NA, -10L), class = "data.frame") I want to replace the concentration column with a string for some values of the flag column, or with the concentration value formatted to a certain number of significant digits. When I try this ifelse(df$status=="NR","NR",df$conc) The NA's in the status flag don't trigger either the true or false condition (and return NA) - as the documentation suggests it will. I could loop over the rows and use IF then else on each one but this seems inefficient. Am I missing something ? I've tried as.character(df$status) as well which doesn't work. My mojo must be getting low....

• In Rails: How can I turn off caching for a particular activerecord database table?

  I have an associative table (scripts_runs) (has_many, through) that carries a status column ('started', 'ready to parse', 'completed' ). The started and ready to parse states are signaled by 'flag' files from distributed executions of the scripts pickedup periodically (20 seconds). The completed status is written directly to the associative table by the parser when it is done. With short scripts the complete status is written before the ready to parse flag file is picked up. Because the row from the table is cached, the complete status is not seen by the observer for the flag files and gets overwritten by the ready to parse status. This is not good. I need the status to be updated in the database in the correct sequence so an Ajax periodic query can inform the user of the status of each script and when the run ( consisting of one to many scripts ) is completed. Can I force the ScriptRun.find(:id) to always go to the database? If so how? If not, why not???

ID Recipient Date Status 1 [email protected] 01/01/2010 1 2 [email protected] 02/01/2010 1 3 [email protected] 01/01/2010 1 4 [email protected] 02/01/2010 2 5 [email protected] 03/01/2010 1 6 [email protected] 01/01/2010 1 7 [email protected] 02/01/2010 2 In this example: all emails sent to someone have a status of 1 the middle email (by date) sent to them has a status of 2, but the latest is 1 the last email sent to others has a status of 2 What I need to retrieve is a count of all emails sent to each person, and what the latest status code was. The first part is fairly simple: SELECT Recipient, Count(*) EmailCount FROM Messages GROUP BY Recipient ORDER BY Recipient Which gives me: Recipient EmailCount [email protected] 2 [email protected] 3 [email protected] 2 How can I get the most recent status code too? The end result should be: Recipient EmailCount LastStatus [email protected] 2 1 [email protected] 3 1 [email protected] 2 2 Thanks. • AIR SQLite IN expression not working

  Hi, I'm having a problem with an expression in my sql statement in SQLite for Adobe AIR basically I have this sql = "UPDATE uniforms SET status=@status WHERE customerId IN(19,20)"; updateStmt.parameters["@status"] = args[1]; updateStmt.execute(); if I run the above code it works, updating the status when the id are 19 and 20 but if I pass the ids list as a parameter like this sql = "UPDATE uniforms SET status=@status WHERE customerId IN(@ids)"; updateStmt.parameters["@status"] = args[1]; updateStmt.parameters["@ids"] = "19,20"; updateStmt.execute(); it gives me and error, saying could not convert text value to numeric value, which make sense because I'm passing and string but the IN expression should convert it accordingly, like it does when I pass directly the list values, why is not working the other way, thanks for any help!

• Getting the value from an array in the model in rails

  Hi all, I have a relatively simple problem. I have a model named Item which I've added a status field. The status field will only have two options (Lost or Found). So I created the following array in my Item model: STATUS = [ [1, "Lost"], [2, "Found"]] In my form view I added the following code which works great: <%= collection_select :item, :status, Item::STATUS, :first, :last, {:include_blank => 'Select status'} %> This stores the numeric id (1 or 2) of the status in the database. However, in my show view I can't figure out how to convert from the numeric id (again, 1 or 2) to the text equivalent of Lost or Found. Any ideas on how to get this to work? • SQL Server Table Polling by Multiple Subscribers

  Background Designing Stored Procedures that are safe for multiple subscribers (to call simultaneously) can be challenging.  For example let’s say that you want multiple worker processes to poll a shared work queue that’s encapsulated as a SQL Table. This is a common scenario and through experience you’ll find that you want to use Table Hints to prevent unwanted locking when performing simultaneous queries on the same table. There are three table hints to consider: NOLOCK, READPAST and UPDLOCK. Both NOLOCK and READPAST table hints allow you to SELECT from a table without placing a LOCK on that table. However, SELECTs with the READPAST hint will ignore any records that are locked due to being updated/inserted (or otherwise “dirty”), whereas a SELECT with NOLOCK ignores all locks including dirty reads. For the initial update of the flag (that marks the record as available for subscription) I don’t use the NOLOCK Table Hint because I want to be sensitive to the “active” records in the table and I want to exclude them.  I use an Update Lock (UPDLOCK) in conjunction with a WHERE clause that uses a sub-select with a READPAST Table Hint in order to explicitly lock the records I’m updating (UPDLOCK) but not place a lock on the table when selecting the records that I’m going to update (READPAST). UPDATES should be allowed to lock the rows affected because we’re probably changing a flag on a record so that it is not included in a SELECT from another subscriber. On the UPDATE statement we should explicitly use the UPDLOCK to guard against lock escalation. A SELECT to check for the next record(s) to process can result in a shared read lock being held by more than one subscriber polling the shared work queue (SQL table). It is expected that more than one worker process (or server) might try to process the same new record(s) at the same time. When each process then tries to obtain the update lock, none of them can because another process has a shared read lock in place. Thus without the UPDLOCK hint the result would be a lock escalation deadlock; however with the UPDLOCK hint this condition is mitigated against. Note that using the READPAST table hint requires that you also set the ISOLATION LEVEL of the transaction to be READ COMMITTED (rather than the default of SERIALIZABLE). Guidance In the Stored Procedure that returns records to the multiple subscribers: Perform the UPDATE first. Change the flag that makes the record available to subscribers.  Additionally, you may want to update a LastUpdated datetime field in order to be able to check for records that “got stuck” in an intermediate state or for other auditing purposes. In the UPDATE statement use the (UPDLOCK) Table Hint on the UPDATE statement to prevent lock escalation. In the UPDATE statement also use a WHERE Clause that uses a sub-select with a (READPAST) Table Hint to select the records that you’re going to update. In the UPDATE statement use the OUTPUT clause in conjunction with a Temporary Table to isolate the record(s) that you’ve just updated and intend to return to the subscriber. This is the fastest way to update the record(s) and to get the records’ identifiers within the same operation. Finally do a set-based SELECT on the main Table (using the Temporary Table to identify the records in the set) with either a READPAST or NOLOCK table hint.  Use NOLOCK if there are other processes (besides the multiple subscribers) that might be changing the data that you want to return to the multiple subscribers; or use READPAST if you're sure there are no other processes (besides the multiple subscribers) that might be updating column data in the table for other purposes (e.g. changes to a person’s last name).  NOLOCK is generally the better fit in this part of the scenario. Thus, if you have a business rule that states that the application should only process new records if all of the old records have been processed successfully (or marked as an error), then it will be necessary to build a monitoring process to detect stalled or stale records in the Work Queue, hence the use of the LastUpdated column in the example above. The Status field along with the LastUpdated field can be used as the criteria to detect stalled / stale records. It is possible to put this watchdog logic into the stored procedure above, but I would recommend making it a separate monitoring function. In writing the stored procedure that checks for stale records I would recommend using the same kind of lock semantics as suggested above. • Multiple data centers and HTTP traffic: DNS Round Robin is the ONLY way to assure instant fail-over?

  Hi, Multiple A records pointing to the same domain seem to be used almost exclusively to implement DNS Round Robin as a cheap load balancing technique. The usual warning against DNS RR is that it is not good for high availability. When 1 IP goes down clients will continue to use it for minutes. A load balancer is often suggested as a better choice. Both claims are not completely true: When the traffic is HTTP then, most of the HTML browsers are able to automatically try the next A record if the previous is down, without a new DNS look-up. Read here chapter 3.1 and here. When multiple data centers are involved then, DNS RR is the only option to distribute traffic across them. So, is it true that, with multiple data centers and HTTP traffic, the use of DNS RR is the ONLY way to assure instant fail-over when one data center goes down? Thanks, Valentino Edit: Off course each data center has a local Load Balancer with hot spare. It's OK to sacrifice session affinity for an instant fail-over. AFAIK the only way for a DNS to suggest a data center instead of another is to reply with just the IP (or IPs) associated to that data center. If the data center becomes unreachable then all those IP are also unreachables. This means that, even if smart HTML browsers are able to instantly try another A record , all the attempts will fail until the local cache entry expires and a new DNS lookup is done, fetching the new working IPs (I assume DNS automatically suggests to a new data center when one fail). So, "smart DNS" cannot assure instant fail-over. Conversely a DNS round-robin permits it. When one data center fail, the smart HTML browsers (most of them) instantly try the other cached A records jumping to another (working) data center. So, DNS round-robin doesn't assure session affinity or the lowest RTT but seems to be the only way to assure instant fail-over when the clients are "smart" HTML browsers. Edit 2: Some people suggest TCP Anycast as a definitive solution. In this paper (chapter 6) is explained that Anycast fail-over is related to BGP convergence. For this reason Anycast can employ from 15 minutes to 20 seconds to complete. 20 seconds are possible on networks where the topology was optimized for this. Probably just CDN operators can grant such fast fail-overs. Edit 3:* I did some DNS look-ups and traceroutes (maybe some expert can double check) and: The only CDN using TCP Anycast seems to be CacheFly, other operators like CDN networks and BitGravity use CacheFly. Seems that their edges cannot be used as reverse proxies. Therefore, they cannot be used to grant instant failover. Akamai and LimeLight seems to use geo-aware DNS. But! They return multiple A records. From traceroutes seems that the returned IPs are on the same data center. So, I'm puzzled on how they can offer a 100% SLA when one data center goes down.

  I have a local network set up with apache2 and "named" running on OpenSuse 13.1 Linux. I used the "named" service to use my computer as a domain server. I set up my router to point to ask my computer for domain lookups, so I have a chance to have it rewrite a bunch of domains on my network to its own local IP, 192.168.0.111 This works great. I use virtual host configuration to allow various domains and subdomains (re-routed to the same IP via named) to pull up different directories in my computer. For example: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName 192.168.0.111 ServerAlias fmb.wa.net DocumentRoot /home/work/wa.net/fmb </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName 192.168.0.111 ServerAlias postrecord.wa.net DocumentRoot /home/work/wa.net/postrecord </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName 192.168.0.111 ServerAlias cvalley.wa.net DocumentRoot /home/work/wa.net/cvalley_local </VirtualHost> This makes it possible for me to hit cvalley.wa.net from any device in my network and get the site that lives in /home/work/wa.net/cvalley_local I decided to forward port 80 to this computer, so I could share a few development sites with coworkers. I can't control which site they see with the same named service, because they'd have to use my computer as their domain name server... So I added a line like this: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName 192.168.0.111 ServerAlias MY.IP.XXX.XX DocumentRoot /home/work/wa.net/cvalley </VirtualHost> Where "MY.IP.XXX.XX" is my public IP address. This works as expected, when you hit my IP address from a public network you see the site that lives in /home/work/wa.net/cvalley. The point of confusion that I have is that there are public IP addresses in my logs in other sites. I would have expected it to be impossible to access other sites in my network, unless the public user somehow figured out what I'm calling my ServerAliases, and is mimicing my domain set up... How can public traffic be hitting my other local sites? How can I recreate this kind of access?   Our proxy went down and I tried to update dependencies with maven while it was off. Since then I can't download anything with maven. I get this error for everything. I tried -U option, deleting my local repository and tried different maven version (2.0.9, 2.2.1) but it doesn't work. Any idea how to solve this?   I have a web page that uses tooltips. I am using Prototip specifically. One of the options is to use Ajax to load another page within the tool. The Ajax functionality is coming from the Prototype framework, http://www.prototypejs.org/api/ajax/request/. All I really want to load is an image. I just don't want the image to load on page creation because there are so many images. So when I put a link to a .jpg file or even a .html file I receive the error HTTP Error 405.0 - Method Not Allowed from IIS. I am running IIS7. Is this an issue with my code or an issue with IIS7? Also, the other version of the error I am getting is The HTTP verb POST used to access path '/Images/Items/tech_over_RST.jpg' is not allowed. I receive this version of the error message when I run in debug mode from VS2010. I am also using URL Routing but not MVC.

Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.springframework.ui.ModelMap The ModelMap class does exist in spring-2.5.6.jar and spring-context-2.5.6.jar, I also have some other spring jars. All of them are being deployed to tomcat correctly, when I check the application WEB-INF (deployed to tomcat) I found all those jars there! I have only one @Controller that has a @RequestMapping("/home.htm") showForm(ModelMap model) method. • PHP check http referer for form submitted by AJAX, secure?

  Hi all: This is the first time I am working for a front-end project that requires server-side authentication for AJAX requests.
