  • openvpn not creating internal route for client

    I have two openvpn clients and a server using shared keys. I have internal routes specified in the ccd directory for both clients, but when they connect, the server only creates the internal route for one of them, despite the logs saying it's creating both. Both clients and the server use the "--script-security 2" command-line option. Can anyone think of why it would do this ?   • Assembly Level Language? Unlock iPhone 3GS with latest Baseband. Need Opinion

    Hi Guys, So its more like advice i need. I got 2 iPhone 3GS (Bootloader 06.02 and BB 05.11) which are lying around useless cause it was bought it from US and now i am in Dubai. Cannot use the phone because there is no unlock. Now rather than waiting and relying on other people to provide a unlock for the baseband , i was thinking of learning what it takes to unlock a iPhone. I currently don't even know what i got to learn to do this. I understand from soem reading around that i will need to learn ARM to understand the baseband and try to find a exploit: is it correct? I really want to help people out in getting their iPhones working. Also the iPhones cost was $645 each (16GB) so its not like Apple is going to loose any money of it, the person who bought it for me thought that if your not buying with an AT&T contract it means that it is unlocked but it is not true. I need help, i am willing to learn and you guys are the best bunch around to give me advice. Regards.

    I often hear people talking about Javascript in conjunction with web browser programming/web page programming and such, and/or form logic, etc. However, outside of a browser, can Javascript source be written and compiled to work outside of a browser, much like C/C++ can work in a terminal window/GUI window with a library? Can I write "Hello World" in Javascript in a console terminal on a modern OS GUI and such like C?

  • Multi-file, simultaneous, drag-and-drop file uploads in the browser without ActiveX?

    I like how Windows Skydrive lets you drag files into Internet Explorer where an ActiveX component uploads those files to your Skydrive account in a queue. This avoids the cumbersome traditional HTML approach where you present multiple "Browse" buttons and the user has to select individual files one by one, click Upload and then select more files after the first batch completes. What I'm not sure is how the same effect could be achieved in a web app without ActiveX. Any suggestions?

  • How to do custom display and auto-select in django admin multi-select field?

    I'm new to django, so please feel free to tell me if I'm doing this incorrectly. I am trying to create a django ordering system. My order model: class Order(models.Model): ordered_by = models.ForeignKey(User, limit_choices_to = {'groups__name': "Managers", 'is_active': 1}) in my admin ANY user can enter an order, but ordered_by must be someone in the group "managers" (this is the behavior I want). Now, if the logged in user happens to be a manager I want it to automatically fill in the field with that logged in user. I have accomplished this by: class OrderAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): def formfield_for_foreignkey(self, db_field, request, **kwargs): if db_field.name == "ordered_by": if request.user in User.objects.filter(groups__name='Managers', is_active=1): kwargs["initial"] = request.user.id kwargs["empty_label"] = "-------------" return db_field.formfield(**kwargs) return super(OrderAdmin, self).formfield_for_foreignkey(db_field, request, **kwargs) This also works, but the admin puts the username as the display for the select box by default. It would be nice to have the user's real name listed. I'm new to this, but my guess is that when I use UserModelChoiceField it "erases" the info passed in via formfield_for_foreignkey. Do I need to use the super() function somehow to pass on this info? or something completely different?

    I would like to display a directory structure using Gtk# widgets through F#, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to translate TreeViews into F#. Say I had a directory structure that looks like this: Directory1 SubDirectory1 SubDirectory2 SubSubDirectory1 SubDirectory3 Directory2 How would I show this tree structure with Gtk# widgets using F#? EDIT: gradbot's was the answer I was hoping for with a couple of exceptions. If you use ListStore, you loose the ability to expand levels, if you instead use : let musicListStore = new Gtk.TreeStore([|typeof<String>; typeof<String>|]) you get a layout with expandable levels. Doing this, however, breaks the calls to AppendValues so you have to add some clues for the compiler to figure out which overloaded method to use: musicListStore.AppendValues (iter, [|"Fannypack" ; "Nu Nu (Yeah Yeah) (double j and haze radio edit)"|]) Note that the columns are explicitly passed as an array.   • advanced xml? multi level .. php parsing

    hi my knowledge of xml and php is somewhat basic but have been able to parse a simple xml document (one level) ~ <numbers> <number>1</number> <number>2</number> </numbers> i'm attempting to parse an xml document from a website providing the latest market prices for gold bullion. I think i'm going to need a paid professional but want to give it a shot the xml file looks like this: <envelope> <message type="MARKET_DEPTH_A" version="0.1"> <market> <pitches> <pitch securityClassNarrative="GOLD" securityId="AUXLN" considerationCurrency="GBP" > <buyPrices> <price actionIndicator="B" quantity="0.153" limit="23477" /> </buyPrices> <sellPrices> <price actionIndicator="S" quantity="0.058" limit="23589" /> </sellPrices> </pitch> </pitches> </market> </message> </envelope> and simply i have no idea how to access the values within the "headings". (whatever the term is) sounds like i'm asking for someone to do it for me, which I don't want, but I don't know what to search for ~ it doesn't look like a regular xml structure to me. thanks!

  • How prevalent is the use of Emacs' eshell in multi-platform development?

    I've only recently become aware of Emacs' eshell tool. It looks quite powerful in that it is entirely written in Emacs Lisp and does not require native subshell support. The Emacs info documentation is a bit sparse but EmacsWiki has pretty decent information, at least on a first glance. Given the potential value of eshell as a scripting tool/programmer's aid that works equally well on multiple platforms I'm wondering how prevalent the use of eshell versus the normal (bash) shell is among software developers. Would those of you who have taken the time to learn it recommend it or is it one of those many interesting ideas that did not really pan out?

  • Is there a way to replace the Eclipse JDT's code completion list with a multi-level tree?

    I know that the eclipse code completion widget can be customized to add new suggestions and even to change the order. I'm wondering whether there's a way to replace the current list format (or single-level tree, if this is a tree control) with a tree of multiple levels. Thus, for example, instead of selecting from a list of methods sorted by name, I will select from a category and then from a subcategory, and then from the items. I'm not too familiar with that part of the SDK, but I'd like to know if this is feasible. Thanks!

  • Google Maps: marker icons are multi over same location, why?

    I'm using Google Maps and have the map set to height/width=100%. I noticed that when I resize the browser window, my map marker icons appear to redraw on top of the same location. Meaning, if I should only have 1 map marker icon on "987 Main St", when I resize the browser window - multiple map marker icons are being now draw on top of "987 Main St" that shouldn't be there. Any ideas why this is happening and how to prevent it? UPDATE: Link to actual code

  • In JSF How can I understand of multi checkboxes whether all of them is checked or not?

    As you understand from the title above, I have a datatable and checkboxes in each row. I want to enable a button when at least one checkbox is selected, and disable it when there is no selected checkboxes (I mean all of them is unselected). I could achieve this as like if one of the checkboxes is selected, the button becomes enable. However, the reversable case I have to do is when the checkboxes is being unselected, when the last selected checbox becomes unselected, the button immediately must become disabled... BTW, I must do it without using a setter method nor a backing bean. Can I perform it by using jquery or a jsfunction, richfaces, etc? As a result, I want to learn how I can disable a button at the moment when all of the checkboxes are unselected?   • Best approach for a multi-tab ASP.NET AJAX control?

    Looking for some implementation advice: I have a page that has a 3-tab ajaxToolkit:TabContainer. The purpose of the page is to expose a calculator that has two basic inputs: geo-location and date. The three tabs are labeled "City and State", "Postal Code", and "GPS Coordinates". The layout of each tab container is the same for each tab, with the exception of the location section; the location section changes because each type of location has different inputs. For example, to specify city/state, there will be three fields: city, country, and state (country and state will use cascading drop-down lists). But Postal code requires only one field (which will validate via regular expression for allowed countries). See the example design mockup: So, what I WOULD LIKE to do (in order to minimize duplicate code), is to have a common control that contains the layout and structure of the calculator without specifying anything about the location section. Then, I'd like to be able to pull in each of the unique location controls based on what tab is selected. The tab structure exists at the page level, not in a control. Any advice? I was looking at templated controls (see MSDN article here), but I'm not convinced that it's the right solution. If I HAVE to create three separate controls with similar layouts and common elements, then that's what I have to do. But REALLY, I'd prefer a more elegant, inheritance-based solution. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • What does N years of experience with a language really mean?

    I've been looking at jobs descriptions since I'm graduating soon and looking for a job and what's always coming back - I'm not teaching you anything - is the "N years of experience in this language". It has been discussed in this question that if you work professionally with let's say Ruby for 2 years, but during these two years you also did some C# and PHP and were actually coding in Ruby 50% of the time. Do you say you have 1 year of experience in Ruby? 2 years? Another issue that hasn't been reviewed in the other post is for "non-professional experience". I'll give you a personal example: I've been working with Ruby on Rails since 2004 while at school. I did a lot of personal projects and school projects using this technology. I also used Rails in 2 6-month internships. Do I have 5 years of Rails experience (2004-now)? Do I have 1 year(2 internships)? Do I have nothing? I feel like I don't deserve the credit for 5 years, because the first years I wasn't working a lot with rails, but since last year I launched some websites and invested myself a lot in this technology and just saying 1 year doesn't really reflect how much I know the technology... Another example: I Learned C++ at school and did 1 big project with it (2-3 month of work and a semester of classes). I never used it in a company but I'd be able to be productive fairly quickly if I had to work on a C++ project and I have a good grasp of the concepts. Do I have no experience? 3 months? 6 months? ... something else? What I'm really trying to do is to find a way to present my skill set in a way that is compliant to what recruiters expect. I also don't want to end up at an interview that would go something like this... Recruiter (finding out the horrible truth): Oh but you said that you had 2 years of experience with this when you have none! / slaps me in the face / Me (in pain): Oh! The irony! Recruiter (yelling): Get out of my office / calls security, punches me in the throat /

    How can I manage multiple versions of a database easily? I have some data (as views as selects for data originating in tables from other schemas), which other database may reference using various means including database synonyms & links. I wish to provide a sort of interface/guarantee in-case future for applications/databases which use this data. All of this is for in the event i need to update the views for correctness or applicability inside my database. How can i achieve this in a maintained, controlled and easy way?   • Practical non-Turing-complete languages?

    Nearly all programming languages used are Turing Complete, and while this affords the language to represent any computable algorithm, it also comes with its own set of problems. Seeing as all the algorithms I write are intended to halt, I would like to be able to represent them in a language that guarantees they will halt. Regular expressions used for matching strings and finite state machines are used when lexing, but I'm wondering if there's a more general, broadly language that's not Turing complete? edit: I should clarify, by 'general purpose' I don't necessarily want to be able to write all halting algorithms in the language (I don't think that such a language would exist) but I suspect that there are common threads in halting proofs that can be generalized to produce a language in which all algorithms are guaranteed to halt. There's also another way to tackle this problem - eliminate the need for theoretically infinite memory. Once you limit the amount of memory the machine is allowed, the number of states the machine is in is finite and countable, and therefore you can determine if the algorithm will halt (by not allowing the machine to move into a state it's been in before).

    Working on platform WinXP with MinGW (gcc4.4) / MSYS, I am trying to get autotools build working for Apache Axis C, which does not support MinGW yet. A common issue automake complains about is caused by following lines in various Makefile.am:s axis-c-trunk/src/core/Makefile.am: SUBDIRS = [other child dirs] deployment transport/http/util transport/http/common engine transport The intent of this line is to force the order of building so that transport/http/util and transport/http/common are build before the engine directory, and building rest of the transport after engine is build. This line causes the following error when running automake under MinGW: src/core/Makefile.am:1: directory should not contain `/' Now, what would be the correct way of directly including grandchildren directories so that it would functionally work like ordinary SUBDIRS inclusion for immediate child directories?

    I'm using a GZIPInputStream in my program, and I know that the performance would be helped if I could get Java running my program in parallel. In general, is there a command-line option for the standard VM to run on many cores? It's running on just one as it is. Thanks! Edit I'm running plain ol' Java SE 6 update 17 on Windows XP. Would putting the GZIPInputStream on a separate thread explicitly help? No! Do not put the GZIPInputStream on a separate thread! Do NOT multithread I/O! Or a replacement for GZIPInputStream that runs parallel?   • What is the typical setup for a laptop used for multi platform development?

    I am planning to build a new laptop for development for both Windows & Linux platforms. On Windows, my development would be primarily on .NET/C#/IIS/MSSQL Server. On Linux, preferably Ubuntu, my development would be on Ruby and Python. I am thinking of buying a laptop with Windows 7 pre-installed with 4GB RAM/Intel Core 2 Duo/320 GB HD & then thinking of running 2 VMs for both Windows and Linux development with the host OS as my work station. Of course, I would be running DBs and web servers on the respective platforms. Is this a typical setup? My only concern is running two VMs side by side. Not sure if this configuration would be optimal. Alternative would be to do my Windows development on the host Windows 7 OS. Any thoughts?
