    I'm creating a custom control, and I want to get all the stuff within the tags and use it as a string Text field on my control: i.e. <custom:control ID="C" runat="server">This text should go into the text property</custom:control> Does anyone know how to achieve this? I've tried the following attributes on my text field (copied from the Literal control) but it doesn't seem to work! [DefaultValue(""), Bindable(true), Localizable(true)]

  • Why won't my control accept keyboard input?

    I've built a custom control that I'm trying to send input to. It will accept mouse input and report MouseDown, MouseMove and MouseUp correctly, but for whatever reason, it won't accept keyboard input. When I click on it, it doesn't receive focus, and any keys I press get interpreted by whatever control had the focus already. This is probably something really simple. The first place I thought to look was in the ControlStyle property, but the only thing I can see in the helpfile about keyboard input is csNoStdEvents, which disables it, and my control doesn't have that. So what do I need to do to make it so my control can receive input focus?

  • How to uncheck header checkbox in GridView when sorting and paging?

    Hi, I followed this article and it works great except when paging or sorting the HeaderCheckBox is still checked. How and where should this be unchecked?     I am trying to create a custom command button that defaults width and height to specific settings. I have the following code: public partial class myCommandButton : Button { public magCommandButton() { InitializeComponent(); } [DefaultValue(840)] public override int Width { get { return base.Width; } set { base.Width = value; } } [DefaultValue(340)] public override int Height { get { return base.Height; } set { base.Height = value; } } protected override void OnPaint(PaintEventArgs pe) { base.OnPaint(pe); } } However, it won't compile because it tells me that I can not override Width or Height. Can anyone tell me if I'm approaching this wrongly, or if there's a way around this?

  • How can I get Text property to initialize to the objects name at design time?

    When you add a label to the form from the toolbox, its text defaults to the item's name (label1, label2, etc). How can I make this happen with a custom control? So far, I have the following, which allows me to change the text through the property window: private string _text; [BrowsableAttribute(true)] public override string Text { get { return _text; } set { _text = value; lblID.Text = _text; } } Apparently the above code works as is, but I'm not sure why. Does Text default to the object's name automatically? The question still stands for other properties which don't override Text.

My control is opened up by the click event of another button. like this (works fine): void CProducerDlg::OnSelect() { ... m_wndDatePicker.SetValue(varVariant); // hide date combo box if first entry has been chosen m_wndDate.ShowWindow(SW_HIDE); // show date picker if first entry is chosen m_wndDatePicker.ShowWindow(SW_SHOW); // open up calendar view [tbd] ... } What I need is the calendar view to open up expanded (showing the complete month).     I admit, I'm an .NET n00b. Basically what I'm trying to do is I have a page with a text box on it and an image button. On click of the image button I want it to show a view control I have set up. Inside this view control is an image and some text. Well when I click on the button for submit, I get the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." error message. Where am I going wrong?

I have tried initializing a variable in the index method of the books controller but get exactly the same results. Thanks in advance! BTW had to make the links text because of stackoverflow limit.

    Hi, I have an HtmlInputText in an EditItemTemplate in a DataGrid, This control is bound with a value from the SqlDataSource I want to set in this control two values the JOB_CODE_ID and the JOB_CODE instead of just JOB_CODE. I used to use Tag in the WinForms to set values such this, but in I don't know similar way in ASP.Net. In my situation I can't use a hidden control to save the JOB_CODE_ID there, Is there any way to set two values in a HtmlInputText control ?     Hello Experts, I have a tabcontrol and I place datagrid inside a tabcontrol... But I could not focus that Datagrid at the load event ... Focus means I couldn't navigate through keyboard into it...     Hello all, I created a simple custom control that only inherits from the Literal control, and doesn't have any extensions yet, code is empty. Namespace: CustomControls Class name: Literal : System.Web.UI.WebControls.Literal Next thing I do is registering this control in the aspx page as following: <%@ Register TagPrefix="web" Namespace="CustomControls" % (I read in few tutorials that this is one of the ways to register it, besides web.config etc.) After all, no intellisence for me, and worse- I get a parse error 'unknown server tag: web' when I try to run the page with the control in it. I used 'create new project' and not new website, in case this info is needed. What could be my problem? Thanks in advance.

  • 'Advanced' Console Application

    Hi all, I'm not sure if this question has been answered elsewhere and I can't seem to find anything through google that isn't a "Hello World" example... I'm coding in C# .NET 4.0. I'm trying to develop a console application that will open, display text, and then wait for the user to input commands, where the commands will run particular business logic. For example: If the user opens the application and types "help", I want to display a number of statements etc etc. I'm not sure how to code the 'event handler' for user input though. Hopefully this makes sense. Any help would be much appreciated! Cheers.
