  • Sequence Number in testing Spring application with JUnit (Hibernating, Spring MVC)

    I am testing DAO in Spring Application. @RunWith(SpringJUnit4ClassRunner.class) @ContextConfiguration(locations = "classpath:/applicationContext.xml") @TransactionConfiguration(transactionManager = "transactionManager", defaultRollback = true) @Transactional public class CommentDAOImplTest { @Autowired //testing mehods here} The tests are running good. Iam able to add an comment and I also have a defaultRollback property set. So, the added comment will be deleted automatically. happy!..Now the problem is with the sequence number for mcomment. Can I, in any way rollback the seq number? any suggestins on that. I dont want to mess up the sequrnce number. Business requires comment Id to be showed. (I still dont know why). I know in memory db is an option....but I am guessing defaultRollback purpose is to eliminate in memory db testing and mocking. (Just my opinion.)

  • Convert IEnumerable to EntitySet

    Hey all, Hoping somebody can shed some light, and perhaps a possible solution to this issue I'm having... I have used LINQ to SQL to pull some data from a database into local entities. They are products from a shopping cart system. A product can contain a collection of KitGroups (which are stored in an EntitySet (System.Data.Linq.EntitySet). KitGroups contain collections of KitItems, and KitItems can contain Nested Products (which link back up to the original Product type - so its recursive). From these entities I'm building XML using LINQ to XML - all good here - my XML looks beautiful, calling a "GenerateProductElement" function, which calls itself recursively to generate the nested products. Wonderful stuff. However, here's where i'm stuck.. i'm now trying to deserialize that XML back to the original objects (all autogenerated by Linq to SQL)... and herein lies the problem. Linq tO Sql expects my collections to be EntitySet collections, however Linq to Xml (which i'm tyring to use to deserailise) is returning IEnumerable. I've experimented with a few ways of casting between the 2, but nothing seems to work... I'm starting to think that I should just deserialise manually (with some funky loops and conditionals to determine which KitGroup KitItems belong to, etc)... however its really quite tricky and that code is likely to be quite ugly, so I'd love to find a more elegant solution to this problem. Any suggestions?   • android include tag - invalid layout refernce

    Hello, I'm having a problem including a different layout through the include tag in the android layout xml file. When specifing the layout reference ( @layout/... ), i'm getting a InflateException in the Eclipse ADT with the following error: InflateException: You must specifiy a valid layout reference. The layout ID @layout/func_edit_simple_calculator_toolbox is not valid. the reference should be valid, as I've selected it from the the list of my other layouts and didnt type it in. I'm starting simple and just trying to extract the name (\gpx\name).   • Keeping files or database records? Java and Python

    My website will use a Neural Network to predict thing based on user data. The user can select the data to be used in training the network and then use their trained network to predict things. I am using a framework to create, train and query the networks. This uses Java. The framework has persistence for saving a network to an XML file. What is the best way to store these files? I can see several potential ideas, but I need help on choosing which is best: Save each network to a separate XML file with a name that is stored in the database. Load this each time. Save all the networks to the same XML file with each network having a different name that is stored in the database. Somehow pass what would normally be written to an XML file to the Django site for writing to the database. This would need to be returned to the Java code when a prediction needs to be made. I am able to do 1 or 2, but I think their performance will be quite limited and I am on shared hosting at the moment, so I don't know how pleased they would be with thousands of files. Also, after adding a few thousand records to one XML file, I was noticing a massive performance hit on saving to it. If I were able to implement version 3 somehow I think it would be best. No issues with separate processes accessing the database and I think performance would be better. Not to mention having no files lying around. However, the stuff in the neural network framework I am using (Encog) for saving to a file needs access to a Java file object, not a string that could be saved to a database. Unless there is some Java magic I can do here (I know very little Java), the only way I can see of doing this would be with a temporary files but I don't know if this is the correct way to do it. I would appreciate any ideas on the best way to implement any of the above 3 ideas or any alternatives. Thanks!

    I have question about a basic xml file I'm parsing and just putting in simple nextlines(Enters). I'll try to explain my problem with this next example. I'm( still) building an xml tree and all it has to do ( this is a testtree ) is put the summary in an itemlist. I then export it to a plist so I can see if everything is done correctly.   • Forcing a transaction to rollback on validation errors in Seam

    Quick version: We're looking for a way to force a transaction to rollback when specific situations occur during the execution of a method on a backing bean but we'd like the rollback to happen without having to show the user a generic 500 error page. Instead, we'd like the user to see the form she just submitted and a FacesMessage that indicates what the problem was. Long version: We've got a few backing beans that use components to perform a few related operations in the database (using JPA/Hibernate). During the process, an error can occur after some of the database operations have happened. This could be for a few different reasons but for this question, let's assume there's been a validation error that is detected after some DB writes have happened that weren't detectible before the writes occurred. When this happens, we'd like to make sure all of the db changes up to this point will be rolled back. Seam can deal with this because if you throw a RuntimeException out of the current FacesRequest, Seam will rollback the current transaction. The problem with this is that the user is shown a generic error page. In our case, we'd actually like the user to be shown the page she was on with a descriptive message about what went wrong, and have the opportunity to correct the bad input that caused the problem. The solution we've come up with is to throw an Exception from the component that discovers the validation problem with the annotation: @ApplicationException( rollback = true ) Then our backing bean can catch this exception, assume the component that threw it has published the appropriate FacesMessage, and simply return null to take the user back to the input page with the error displayed. The ApplicationException annotation tells Seam to rollback the transaction and we're not showing the user a generic error page. This worked well for the first place we used it that happened to only be doing inserts. The second place we tried to use it, we have to delete something during the process. In this second case, everything works if there's no validation error. If a validation error does happen, the rollback Exception is thrown and the transaction is marked for rollback. Even if no database modifications have happened to be rolled back, when the user fixes the bad data and re-submits the page, we're getting: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Removing a detached instance The detached instance is lazily loaded from another object (there's a many to one relationship). That parent object is loaded when the backing bean is instantiated. Because the transaction was rolled back after the validation error, the object is now detached. Our next step was to change this page from conversation scope to page scope. When we did this, Seam can't even render the page after the validation error because our page has to hit the DB to render and the transaction has been marked for rollback. So my question is: how are other people dealing with handling errors cleanly and properly managing transactions at the same time? Better yet, I'd love to be able to use everything we have now if someone can spot something I'm doing wrong that would be relatively easy to fix. I've read the Seam Framework article on Unified error page and exception handling but this is geared more towards more generic errors your application might encounter.

    I am triggering the transformation using a .NET code, unless I add "EnableDocumentFunction" property to the XSL-Setting, the program throws error saying ..   • Using XmlDiffPatch when writing to stream

    I am trying to use xmldiffpatch when comparing two Xmls(one from a stream, the other from a file) and writing the diff patch to a stream. The first method is to write my xml to a memory stream. The second method loads an xml from a file and creates a stream for the patched file to be written into. The third method actually compares the two files and writes the third. The xmldiff.Compare(originalFile, finalFile, dgw); method takes (XmlReader, XmlReader, XmlWriter). I'm always getting that both files are identical, even though they are not, so I know that I am missing something.   • @OneToMany association joining on the wrong field

    I have 2 tables, devices which contains a list of devices and dev_tags, which contains a list of asset tags for these devices. The tables join on dev_serial_num, which is the primary key of neither table. The devices are unique on their ip_address field and they have a primary key identified by dev_id. The devices "age out" after 2 weeks. Therefore, the same piece of hardware can show up more than once in devices. I mention that to explain why there is a OneToMany relationship between dev_tags and devices where it seems that this should be a OneToOne relationship.     I am trying to parse an xml file with a soap envelope from a web service using php. I would like to use SoapClient, but I get an error back that 'page must be viewed over secure channel SSL', which I think is an issue on their end, so I gave up on that. Currently I am using curl to get a result back. What I need is the attributes in the last tag that starts with _x0023_temp_list. I'm not sure if the tag is always going to be named that, so I will probably also have to deal with getting attributes from the tag with the xs namespace as well. I've read quite a few other posts and have tried several different methods of getting the info and so far nothing has seemed to work.

  • Replace text in XSL using wildcards

    This is similar to an earlier problem I was having which you guys solved in less than a day. I am working with XML files that are generated by a digital video camera. The camera allows the user to save all of the camera's settngs to an SD card so that the settings can be recalled or loaded into another camera. The XSL stylesheet I am writing will allow users to view the camera's settings, as saved to the SD card in a web browser. While most of the values in the XML file -- as formatted by my stylesheet -- make sense to humans, some do not. What I would like to do is have the stylesheet display text that is based on the value in the XML file but more easily understood by humans. A typical value that can be written to the XML file is "_23_970" which represents the camera's frame rate. This would be better displayed as 23.970 (or 023.970). The first underscore is a sort of place holder to make a space for values over 099.999. The second underscore, obviously represents the decimal. My previous (similar) question involved replacing predictable text, and the solution was matching templates. In this case, however, the camera can be set at any one of 119,999 frame rates (I think I did that math correctly). The approach, I would guess, is to pass a value to the displayed webpage that keeps the numeric values (each digit), replaces the second underscore with a decimal, and replaces the first underscore with either an nbsp or a zero (whichever is easier). If the first character in the string is a "1" (the camera can run at frame rates up to 120.000) then the one should be passed on to the page displayed by the stylesheet. I have read other posts here regarding wildcards, but couldn't find one that answered this question. EDIT: Sorry for leaving out important info. I fared better on my first try at asking a question! I guess I got complacent. Anyhow . . .   • Android: Adding extended GLSurfaceView to a Layout don't show 3d stuff

    I make a game extending the class GLSurfaceView, if I apply SetContentView directly to that class, the 3d stuff and input works great. Now I want to show some items over 3d stuff, so I create a XML with a layout and some objects, and I try to add my class manually to the layout.   • Issues POSTing XML to OAuth and Signature Invalid with Ruby OAuth Gem

I authenticate fine, I store and retrieve the token/secret for a given user with no problem, I can even make GET requests to a number of services using the gem. But when I try using the one service I need POST for, I'm getting a 401 "invalid signature" response.   • How to solve validation error on xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation in jdoconfig.xml

    Since I updated today to GAE 1.7.2.1, I'm having validation errors in eclipse in all my jdoconfig.xml files. I have the default jdoconfig.xml content : [...] <jdoconfig xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jdo/jdoconfig" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jdo/jdoconfig"> [...] And eclipse validation throws: Referenced file contains errors (http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jdo/jdoconfig). For more information, right click on the message in the Problems View and select "Show Details..." When clicking on details I can see a bunch of lines like: s4s-elt-character: Non-whitespace characters are not allowed in schema elements other than 'xs:appinfo' and 'xs:documentation'. Saw 'var_U = "undefined";'. In different lines and different content in "Saw ... " It occurs in every single project I start using the "New Web Application Project..." from the google plugin. So does anyone have this problem? Any fix?

    I am using Spring for the first time and must be doing something wrong. I have a project with several Bean implementations and now I am trying to create a test class with Spring Test and JUnit. I am trying to use Spring Test to inject a customized bean into the test class. If I leave the bean in, but comment out the dependency injection, everything work until I get a NullPointerException while running the test...which makes sense.

    I am unable to override attributes when using <include> in my Android layout files. When I searched for bugs, I found Declined Issue 2863: "include tag is broken (overriding layout params never works)" Since Romain indicates this works in the test suites and his examples, I must be doing something wrong. My project is organized like this: res/layout buttons.xml res/layout-land receipt.xml res/layout-port receipt.xml The buttons.xml contains something like this: <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal"> <Button .../> <Button .../> </LinearLayout> And the portrait and landscape receipt.xml files look something like: <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical"> ... <!-- Overridden attributes never work.     Hi, I want to publish some data as XML from a SQL Server database using a WCF service to a location on our content delivery network. (www.somelocation-on-cdn/myxml.xml) This data which is published as XML will have to be updated at an interval of time. I was thinking of writing a WCF service to return the data required, create a RSS reader to update / write the XML file to a location on the content delivery network. Is this approach correct? Can I use WCF REST instead of WCF SOAP As a further enhancement I want to be to use this WCF Service to make cross domain calls using JSONP from our website Thanks

    Has anyone got any idea how to read the XML file saved by MS Project 2007? The standard binary format is .MPP but I'd like to view a project in a different viewer. I've saved the project spec as XML and the viewer I'm using needs the parent task Id for each task. Where can i find that in the rather huge amount of XML data created by ms project?
