• Exception using Querytables in Excel Automation

  Hi, I'm using Automation to populate a range in Excel using a querytable.. However, when I try to add a querytable to the qorksheet I get an exception. I checked the connection string and its working fine.. I always just end up putting them in the code-behind and casting the DataContext as SomeViewModel, then passing the MouseEventArgs on to a handler in my view-model. That's bad enough already, but in this case, I'm actually passing in a control (a Viewport3D), which is necessary for translating coordinates between 2D and 3D. Any suggestions on how to make this more in tune with MVVM?

• Python recursive function error: "maximum recursion depth exceeded"

  I solved Problem 10 of Project Euler with the following code, which works through brute force: def isPrime(n): for x in range(2, int(n**0.5)+1): if n % x == 0: return False return True def primeList(n): primes = [] for i in range(2,n): if isPrime(i): primes.append(i) return primes def sumPrimes(primelist): prime_sum = sum(primelist) return prime_sum print (sumPrimes(primeList(2000000))) The three functions work as follows: isPrime checks whether a number is a prime; primeList returns a list containing a set of prime numbers for a certain range with limit 'n', and; sumPrimes sums up the values of all numbers in a list. (This last function isn't needed, but I liked the clarity of it, especially for a beginner like me.) I then wrote a new function, primeListRec, which does exactly the same thing as primeList, to help me better understand recursion: def primeListRec(i, n): primes = [] #print i if (i != n): primes.extend(primeListRec(i+1,n)) if (isPrime(i)): primes.append(i) return primes return primes The above recursive function worked, but only for very small values, like '500'. The function caused my program to crash when I put in '1000'. And when I put in a value like '2000', Python gave me this: RuntimeError: maximum recursion depth exceeded. What did I do wrong with my recursive function? Or is there some specific way to avoid a recursion limit?

• How to stream partial content with ASP.NET MVC FileStreamResult

  We're using a FileStreamResult to provide video data to a Silverlight MediaElement based video player: public ActionResult Preview(Guid id) { return new FileStreamResult( Services.AssetStore.GetStream(id, ContentType.Preview), "application/octet-stream"); } Unfortunately, the Silverlight video player downloads the entire video file before it starts playing. This behavior is expected as our Preview Action does not support downloading partial content. (side note: if the file is hosted in an IIS virtual directory we can start playback at any location in the video while it is still downloading. however for security and auditing reasons we can't provide a direct download link. so this is not an option.) How can we improve the Controller Action to support partial HTTP content? I assume we first have to inform the client that we support it (adding an "Accept-Ranges:bytes" header to a HEAD request), then we have to evaluate the HTTP "Range" header and stream the requested file range with a response code of 206. Will that work with ASP.NET MVC hosted on IIS6? Is there already some code available? • open flash chart rails x-axis issue

  Hey guys, I am using open flash chart 2 in my rails application. Everything is looking smooth except for the range on my x axis. I am creating a line to represent cell phone plan cost over a specific amount of usage and I'm generate 8 values, 1-5 are below the allowed usage while 6-8 are demonstrations of the cost for usage over the limit. The problem I'm encountering is how to set the range of the X axis in ruby on rails to something specific to the data. Right now the values being displayed are the indexes of the array that I'm giving. When I try to hand a hash to the values the chart doesn't even load at all. So basically I need help getting a way to set the data for my line properly so that it displays correctly, right now it is treating every value as if it represents the x value of the index of the array. • Excel vba -get ActiveX Control checkbox when event handler is triggered

  I have an excel spreadsheet that is separated into different sections with named ranges. I want to hide a named range when a checkbox is clicked. I can do this for one checkbox, but I would like to have a single function that can hide the appropriate section based on the calling checkbox. I was planning on calling that function from the event_handlers for when the checkboxes are clicked, and to pass the checkbox as an argument. Is there a way to access the checkbox object that calls the event handler? • Exporting non-public type through public API

  What if I have few factory methods returning non-public type and pairing set of methods which gives variables of this non-public type? This results with titled warning message in NetBeans. In result public API will contain only two pairing sets of methods. The reason is to make my type hierarchy sealed (like seald classes in Scala) and allow users only instantiate these types through factory methods. So we get DSL in some sense. For example, Schedule class represented by calendar fields' contraints. There are some types of contraints - Range, Singleton, List, FullSet - with NumberSet interface as a root. We don't want to expose these types and how Schedule interact with them. We just want the specification from the user. So we make NumberSet package-private. In class Schedule we create few factory-methods for constraints: NumberSet singleton(int value); NumberSet range(int form, int to); NumberSet list(NumberSet ... components); and some methods for creating Schedule object: Schedule everyHour(NumberSet minutes); Schedule everyDay(NumberSet minutes, NumberSet hours); User can only use them in the manner: Schedule s = Schedule.everyDay( singleton(0), list(range(10-15), singleton(8)) ); Is it bad idea?

  I have a function that outputs items in a different order depending on a random number. for example 1/2 of the time Popeye's and its will be #1 on the list and Taco Bell and its logo will be #2 and half the time the it will be the other way around. That way i won't have to rewrite all the code that was already written. Am I barking up the wrong tree or is this a good idea?

• How to update QStandartItemModel without freezing the main UI

  I'm starting to learn PyQt4 and have been stuck on something for a long time now and can't figure it out myself: Here is the concept: There is a TreeView with custom QStandartItemModel, which gets rebuild every couple of seconds, and can have a lot (hundreds at least) of entries, there also will be additional delegates for the different columns etc. It's fairly complex and the building time for even plain model, without delegates, goes up to .3 sec, which makes the TreeView to freeze. Please advice me for the best approach on solving this. • Traceability with XSD

  I am trying to let my XML schema handle a little traceability functionality as I'm gathering requirements while I read through some functional specifications. (Not ideal for requirement management, but at least its a start.) What I'm doing is creating a <functionalSpec tag for each functional specification I am currently reading through. I create a <requirement tag for each requirement I find. Since I want to be able to trace where the requirement came from, I create a <trace element with the id of the <functionalSpec element. Instead of allowing myself to enter any plain-old-text in the <functionalSpecId tag, I want the XSD to validate and make sure that I only enter in an id that exists for an existing functional spec. My problem is coming in where it seems the XML Schema W3C Recommendations documentation says that what I want to do is not possible. (about 1/2 way down) {selector} specifies a restricted XPath ([XPath]) expression relative to instances of the element being declared. This must identify a node set of subordinate elements (i.e. contained within the declared element) to which the constraint applies. I'm using Oxygen to create this since I'm fairly new to XSD files, and it gives me the following error: E [Xerces] Identity Constraint error: identity constraint "KeyRef@1045a2" has a keyref which refers to a key or unique that is out of scope. So my question is does anyone know of a way that will allow me to use the same XML structure that I have below through using XSD? • sfJQueryUIPlugin: No Picker for new records

  Everyday is a new day with Symfony, but I'm loving it! This morning I installed the sfJQueryUIPlugin. It has very little dependencies & accepts themeRoller styles. However, it has 2 issues: [Feature_Request] There is no way to specify the year range. By default, it shows a 20 year range around the year in the field value. eg. if field value is 1993-01-20, the range will be 1983 to 2003. ??? Has anyone found a way out??? The DatePicker does not appear when the field is empty, Thus it does not show up during new record creation. To solve this, I tried setting up the default value in the date input field (which now appears as a text input) using $this->setDefault('date_of_birth',date('Y-m-d')); ??? Is anybody facing this problem of picker now available during new record creation ??? ??? Also is it the right way to set default value ??? Thanks in advance.

  I am trying to learn how to use predicates and so am trying to replace the following working code with filteredArrayUsingPredicate... [filteredLocations removeAllObjects]; for (NSString *location in locations) { NSRange range = [location rangeOfString:query options:NSCaseInsensitiveSearch]; if (range.length > 0) { [filteredLocations addObject:location]; } } Instead I am trying.... [filteredLocations removeAllObjects]; NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"SELF contains %@", searchText]; [filteredLocations addObjectsFromArray: [locations filteredArrayUsingPredicate:predicate]]; I am not getting the same results with the predicate as I am with for loop rangeOfString. With the range of string for example searchText returns an 8 item array while with the same value returns only 2 with the predicate. Another example, hono will find honolulu in the locations array while it will not find anything using the predicate. As I understand it SELF represents the object object being evaluated ie. the locations array, so I think that is the correct syntax. Any help would be appreciated Thanks, John

• Alerting for incorrect cell values

  My problem: I have two ranges R16 and R01. These ranges were set up by swiping each range and then renaming them in the upper left panel of the sheet. Each range requires users to fill in each cell with a value. R16 requires users to enter a number of 0 through 5. The range R01 requires a value of 0 or 1 to be entered. NO cell can be left blank in any cell within these two ranges. These ranges and requirements are specific to this sheet only. It would be nice if at the time of user entering a number, an error message appeared like [invalid entry] if the value inputted was outside parameters set. For example, in R16, if someone entered 12 or -1 they would be alerted. Finally when the user presses a button on the page to use these values in a separate process, it is essential to check that no cell is left blank. I am trying to find a way to halt the running of the marco (via the button) if these parameters above are not met. Thank you

  I'm trying to set up an iphone app to the phone number of a various sports store using the tel:// url passing method- I am developing on an ipod touch- usually on the touch you see the error message "Unsupported URL - This URL wasn't loaded tel://99887766" when you try and dial a number. I cant get this message to appear on the simulator or the ipod touch. do I need to do some sort of fancy signing before the app will dial properly? • how to get the real bounds with google maps when fully zoomed out

  I have a map that shows location points based on the gbounds of the map. For example, any time the map is moved/zoomed, i find the bounds and query for locations that fall within those bounds. Unfortunately I'm unable to display all my locations when fully zoomed out. Reason being, gmaps reports the min/max long as whatever is at the edge of the map, but if you zoom out enough, you can get a longitudinal range that excludes visible locations. For instance, if you zoom your map so that you see NorthAmerica twice, on the far left and far right. The min/max long are around: -36.5625 to 170.15625. But this almost completely excludes NorthAmerica which lies in the -180 to -60 range. Obviously this is bothersome as you can actually see the continent NorthAmerica (twice), but when I query my for locations in the range from google maps, NorthAmerica isn't returned. My code for finding the min/max long is: bounds = gmap.getBounds(); min_lat = bounds.getSouthWest().lat() max_lat = bounds.getNorthEast().lat() Has anyone encountered this and can anyone suggest a workaround? Off the top of my head I can only thing of a hack: to check the zoom level and hardcode the min/max lats to -180/180 if necessary, which is definitely unacceptable.

  I use matplotlib to display a matrix of numbers as an image, attach labels along the axes, and save the plot to a PNG file. For the purpose of creating an HTML image map, I need to know the pixel coordinates in the PNG file for a region in the image being displayed by imshow. I have found an example of how to do this with a regular plot, but when I try to do the same with imshow, the mapping is not correct. Example 2007-01.xls...2007-12.xls in each of these files are daily data on sheets labeled 01, 02, 03 ..... There are other sheets in the file so I can't just loop through all worksheets. I need to combine the daily data into monthly data, then all of the monthly data points into yearly. On the monthly data I need it to be added to the bottom of the page.
