• Pushwoosh SDK Notification Issue

  I have integrated the Pushwoosh SDK in my Android Application and it is working fine. I have done the Cross Platform Setting to run the Android Application on my Blackberry Z10 device, the application is running finely but I am not able to receive the Notification on my Blackberry Z10 device as Android. • Why am I getting "Enter Parameter Value" when running my MS Access query?

  In my query, I use the IIF function to assign either "Before" or "After" to a field named BeforeOrAfter using AS. When I run this query, however, the "Enter Parameter Value" dialog appears, requesting a value for BeforeOrAfter. If I remove BeforeOrAfter DESC from the ORDER BY clause, I don't get the dialog. Here is the offending query: SELECT d.Scenario, e.Event, IIF(d.LogTime < e.Time, 'Before','After') AS BeforeOrAfter, d.HeartRate FROM Data d INNER JOIN Events e ON d.Scenario = e.Scenario WHERE e.Include = Yes ORDER BY d.Scenario, e.Id, BeforeOrAfter DESC Question: Why is my AS BeforeOrAfter not being recognized by the ORDER BY clause?   Is there a way to fetch the model and the translations in one query when using globalize2? For example, having a model called Language which have two fields, code and name of which the second is translatable I do the following: en = Language.find_by_code("en") and it runs this query: SELECT SQL_NO_CACHE * FROM `languages` WHERE (`languages`.`code` = 'en') LIMIT 1 and when I do: en.name it runs: SELECT SQL_NO_CACHE * FROM `language_translations` WHERE (`language_translations`.language_id = 123 AND (`language_translations`.`locale` IN ('en','root'))) and if I do it again it'll re-run the query. Is there a way to fetch all the translated data in the first query? I've tried: en = Language.find_by_code("en", :joins => "JOIN language_translations ON language_translations.language_id = languages.id") but it made no difference. • When is it good to start using project management applications?

  Hello, I was wondering, when is the right time or the correct project size to start using project management applications ( like Redmine or Trac ). I have a serious project, for now it's only me developing, but I use redmine to set my project versions, issues, and estimations. I think it's a good idea, because you never know when somebody else is going to join the team, and also allows me to organize myself effectively. I ask this question because I was Teaching Assistant at my university for one year in a row for a course, and I got questions about this very very often. While I'm a believer of the KISS principle, I think that learning to use this tools early is a win-win most of the time. I really believe that we can avoid this question to become argumentative, and that there's somewhat of a consensus about this issue, which I consider quite important in todays software development world. So, when is the right time ? what is the correct project/team size ?

  I'm trying to get some speed up in my program and I've been told that Ruby Fibers are faster than threads and can take advantage of multiple cores. I've looked around, but I just can't find how to actually run different fibers concurrently. With threads you can dO this: threads = [] threads << Thread.new {Do something} threads << Thread.new {Do something} threads.each {|thread| thread.join} I can't see how to do something like this with fibers. All I can find is yield and resume which seems like just a bunch of starting and stopping between the fibers. Is there a way to do true concurrency with fibers?

  Looking for a way to write the following LinQ to entities query as a T-SQL statement. repository.ProductShells.Where(x => x.ShellMembers.Any(sm => sm.ProductID == pid)).ToList().ForEach(x => repository.ProductShells.Remove(x)); The below is obviously not correct but I need it to delete respective ProductShell object where any ShellMember contains a ProductID equal to the passed in variable pid. I would presume this would involve a join statement to get the relevant ShellMembers. repository.Database.ExecuteSqlCommand("FROM Shellmembers WHERE ProductID={0} DELETE FK_ProductShell", pid); I have cascade delete enabled for the FK_ShellMembers_ProductShells foreign key, so when I delete the ProductShell it will delete all the ShellMembers that are associated with it. I am going to pass this statement to System.Data.Entity Database.ExecuteSqlCommand method.

• Ordering recursive result set in SQL Server

  I am having extreme difficulty constructing a query which returns an XML style hierarchy. We have a database table which contains a hierarchy of URLs for our website. The table contains the columns: ID, URL, DisplayName, ParentID, ItemOrder The parent ID forms a recursive relationship between the current item and it's parent. The item should site below it's parent in the hierarchy and it should also be ordered using the item order against items at the same level in the hierarchy. I have managed to get a recursive query working so it drills down the hierarchy sequentially but I cannot order this by the item order as well. Suppose somewhere I want to loop through all the Workflow objects, and for each workflow I want to loop through its Commands, and for each Command I want to loop through each Job. Is there a way to structure this with a single query? That is, I'd like Workflow.objects.all() to join in its dependent models, so I get a collection that has dependent objects already cached, so workflows[0].command_set.get() doesn't produce an additional query. Is this possible?

  Hello i have a products table that contains normal products and configurable product It has a basic stucture of: id name price configurable ('yes', 'no') id_configuration Normal products have configurable no and 0 as id configuration, and configurable products have it set to yes and have the same id_configuration value. The current query is: SELECT `products`.* FROM `products`, `categories`, `product_categories` WHERE `categories`.`id` = 23 AND `products`.`id` = `product_categories`.`id_product` AND `categories`.`id` = `product_categories`.`id_category` AND `products`.`active` = 'yes' AND ORDER BY `pos_new` ASC, `created` DESC LIMIT 0,20 I was wondering if there is a way to group by id_configuration, but only for the configurable products. The reason is that i want only one of the configuration products to show in search. I was thinking i could do a join, but was wondering if there is a way to do some kind of special group by. For example for configurable yes the field should be id_configuration otherwise it should be the id field Thanks a lot for any sugestions

This query SELECT s.pID FROM students s JOIN mentors m ON s.pID = m.pID WHERE m.tags LIKE '%a%' ORDER BY s.sID DESC; delivers this result pID ------------- 9 9 3 9 3 9 9 9 10 9 3 10 etc... I am trying to get a list of distinct mentor ID's with this ordering so I am looking for the SQL to produce pID ------------- 9 3 10 If I simply insert a DISTINCT in the SELECT clause I get an unexpected result of 10, 9, 3 (wrong order). Any help much appreciated.

  I am using hg-subversion, and I have 2 different hg repositories one from our svn trunk, and one from a branch of the trunk. I would like to link them somehow. At some point in the history both Hg repositories will be identical is there some way to join them? In other words is there a way to relate the repositories from within Hg? The technique I am currently using is to just export the second repository over top of the working copy of the revision they share, and then commit that working copy as a branch in Hg, but I lose the history this way. Any advice would be great

The code I have so far is below and isn't working at the minute.   Hey guys I find it hard to believe that Facebook uses simple sql, surely it would use some other method but lets assume for now it does use sql how would the code assimilating the 'wall' work? Lets say that there is three tables (just for the example) Friends: id (entry key) - uid(your id) - fid (your mates' id) Wall:id (entry key) - username - comment - time - commentcount comments: id (entry key) - wid (wall id (original comment)) - reply - time Lets forget about the like part and report etc, as well as mod things (ip, ban etc.) How would this work? Select wall.id, wall.username, wall.comment, wall.time, wall.commentcount, comments.wid, comments.reply, comments.time FROM wall inner join comments ON wall.id=comments.wid ORDER BY wall.time; That's your own wall but how do they get friend's? A heap of unions?

• Can this MySQL subquery be optimised?

  I have two tables, news and news_views. Every time an article is viewed, the news id, IP address and date is recorded in news_views. I'm using a query with a subquery to fetch the most viewed titles from news, by getting the total count of views in the last 24 hours for each one. It works fine except that it takes between 5-10 seconds to run, presumably because there's hundreds of thousands of rows in news_views and it has to go through the entire table before it can finish. The query is as follows, is there any way at all it can be improved?
