  • Type for use in template object to compare double values

    - by DaClown
    I got this n-dimensional point object: template <class T, unsigned int dimension> class Obj { protected: T coords[dimension]; static const unsigned int size = dimension; public: Obj() { }; Obj(T def) { for (unsigned int i = 0; i < size; ++i) coords[i]=def; }; Obj(const Obj& o) { for (unsigned int i = 0; i < size; ++i) coords[i] = o.coords[i]; } const Obj& operator= (const Obj& rhs) { if (this != &rhs) for (unsigned int i = 0; i < size; ++i) coords[i] = rhs.coords[i]; return *this; } virtual ~Obj() { }; T get (unsigned int id) { if (id >= size) throw std::out_of_range("out of range"); return coords[id]; } void set (unsigned int id, T t) { if (id >= size) throw std::out_of_range("out of range"); coords[id] = t; } }; and a 3D point class which uses Obj as base class: template <class U> class Point3DBase : public Obj<U,3> { typedef U type; public: U &x, &y, &z; public: Point3DBase() : x(Obj<U,3>::coords[0]), y(Obj<U,3>::coords[1]), z(Obj<U,3>::coords[2]) { }; Point3DBase(U def) : Obj<U,3>(def), x(Obj<U,3>::coords[0]), y(Obj<U,3>::coords[1]), z(Obj<U,3>::coords[2]) { }; Point3DBase(U x_, U y_, U z_) : x(Obj<U,3>::coords[0]), y(Obj<U,3>::coords[1]), z(Obj<U,3>::coords[2]) { x = x_; y = y_; z= z_; }; Point3DBase(const Point3DBase& other) : x(Obj<U,3>::coords[0]), y(Obj<U,3>::coords[1]), z(Obj<U,3>::coords[2]) { x = other.x; y = other.y; z = other.z; } // several operators ... }; The operators, basically the ones for comparison, use the simple compare-the-member-object approach like: virtual friend bool operator== (const Point3DBase<U> &lhs, const Point3DBase<U> rhs) { return (lhs.x == rhs.x && lhs.y == rhs.y && lhs.z == rhs.z); } Then it occured to me that for the comparion of double values the simply equality approach is not very useful since double values should be compared with an error margin. What would be the best approach to introduce an error margin into the point? I thought about an epsDouble type as template parameter but I can't figure out how to achieve this.

  • nil object in view when building objects on two different associations

    - by Shako
Hello all. I'm relatively new to Ruby on Rails so please don't mind my newbie level! I have following models: class Paintingdescription < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :paintings belongs_to :languages end class Paintingtitle < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :paintings belongs_to :languages end class Painting < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :paintingtitles, :dependent => :destroy has_many :paintingdescriptions, :dependent => :destroy has_many :languages, :through => :paintingdescriptions has_many :languages, :through => :paintingtitles end class Language < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :paintingtitles, :dependent => :nullify has_many :paintingdescriptions, :dependent => :nullify has_many :paintings, :through => :paintingtitles has_many :paintings, :through => :paintingdescriptions end In my painting new/edit view, I would like to show the painting details, together with its title and description in each of the languages, so I can store the translation of those field. In order to build the languagetitle and languagedescription records for my painting and each of the languages, I wrote following code in the new method of my Paintings_controller.rb: @temp_languages = @languages @languages.size.times{@painting.paintingtitles.build} @painting.paintingtitles.each do |paintingtitle| paintingtitle.language_id = @temp_languages[0].id @temp_languages.slice!(0) end @temp_languages = @languages @languages.size.times{@painting.paintingdescriptions.build} @painting.paintingdescriptions.each do |paintingdescription| paintingdescription.language_id = @temp_languages[0].id @temp_languages.slice!(0) end In form partial which I call in the new/edit view, I have <% form_for @painting, :html => { :multipart => true} do |f| %> ... <% languages.each do |language| %> <p> <%= label language, language.name %> <% paintingtitle = @painting.paintingtitles[counter] %> <% new_or_existing = paintingtitle.new_record? ? 'new' : 'new' %> <% prefix = "painting[#{new_or_existing}_title_attributes][]" %> <% fields_for prefix, paintingtitle do |paintingtitle_form| %> <%= paintingtitle_form.hidden_field :language_id%> <%= f.label :title %><br /> <%= paintingtitle_form.text_field :title%> <% end %> <% paintingdescription = @painting.paintingdescriptions[counter] %> <% new_or_existing = paintingdescription.new_record? ? 'new' : 'new' %> <% prefix = "painting[#{new_or_existing}_title_attributes][]" %> <% fields_for prefix, paintingdescription do |paintingdescription_form| %> <%= paintingdescription_form.hidden_field :language_id%> <%= f.label :description %><br /> <%= paintingdescription_form.text_field :description %> <% end %> </p> <% counter += 1 %> <% end %> ... <% end %> But, when running the code, ruby encounters a nil object when evaluating paintingdescription.new_record?: You have a nil object when you didn't expect it! You might have expected an instance of ActiveRecord::Base. The error occurred while evaluating nil.new_record? However, if I change the order in which I a) build the paintingtitles and painting descriptions in the paintings_controller new method and b) show the paintingtitles and painting descriptions in the form partial then I get the nil on the paintingtitles.new_record? call. I always get the nil for the objects I build in second place. The ones I build first aren't nil in my view. Is it possible that I cannot build objects for 2 different associations at the same time? Or am I missing something else? Thanks in advance!

  • Entity Framework - An object with the same key already exists in the ObjectStateManager

    - by Justin
Hey all, I'm trying to update a detached entity in .NET 4 EF: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Save(Developer developer) { developer.UpdateDate = DateTime. Now; if (developer.DeveloperID == 0) {//inserting new developer. DataContext.DeveloperData.Insert(developer); } else {//attaching existing developer. DataContext.DeveloperData.Attach(developer); } //save changes. DataContext.SaveChanges(); //redirect to developer list. return RedirectToAction("Index"); } public static void Attach(Developer developer) { var d = new Developer { DeveloperID = developer.DeveloperID }; db.Developers.Attach(d); db.Developers.ApplyCurrentValues(developer); } However, this gives the following error: An object with the same key already exists in the ObjectStateManager. The ObjectStateManager cannot track multiple objects with the same key. Anyone know what I'm missing? Thanks, Justin

  • How do I map a composite primary key in Entity Framework 4 code first?

    - by jamesfm
I'm getting to grips with EF4 code first, and liking it so far. But I'm having trouble mapping an entity to a table with a composite primary key. The configuration I've tried looks like this: public SubscriptionUserConfiguration() { Property(u => u.SubscriptionID).IsIdentity(); Property(u => u.UserName).IsIdentity(); } Which throws this exception: Unable to infer a key for entity type 'SubscriptionUser'. What am I missing?

  • WinForms (C#) Databinding Object to Checkbox.Checked Property

    - by Trevor Sullivan
Hello, I'm writing a WinForms app, and am trying to bind a boolean property on a .NET object to a Checkbox's "checked" property. I am successfully creating the binding, but when I change the source property's value from false to true (I have a button that toggles it), the checkbox's "checked" property does not reflect that change. if (chkPreRun.DataBindings["Checked"] == null) { Debug.WriteLine("Adding chkPreRun databinding"); Binding _binding = chkPreRun.DataBindings.Add("Checked", NwmConfig, "PreRun") // Added this just to ensure that these were being set properly _binding.DataSourceUpdateMode = DataSourceUpdateMode.OnPropertyChanged; _binding.ControlUpdateMode = ControlUpdateMode.OnPropertyChanged; } I am able to successfully bind the text property to the value of a TextBox, for example. I'm not sure what I'm missing while binding to the "Checked" property, however. Cheers, Trevor

  • OO design - car rental

    - by gkid123
AnHow would you implement the following car hierarchy along with the accessor functions and a CarRental class which contains the container to store them? A car rental company wants to keep track of its cars. Each vehicle has a license plate and a brand. Currently the company has SUV and Sedans. SUV have an optional third row seat, sedan’s have an optional sport package. Each car can be queried to inquire the number of passengers it can carry.

  • IE8 Jquery Javascript "Error: Object required" Bug

    - by thechrisvoth
    IE8 throws an "Error: Object required" message (error in the actual jquery library script, not my javascript file) when the switch statement in this function runs. This code works in IE6, IE7, FF3, and Safari... Any ideas? Does it have something to do with the '$(this)' selector in the switch? Thanks! function totshirts(){ $('.shirt-totals input').val('0'); var cxs = 0; var cs = 0; var cm = 0; $.each($('select.size'), function() { switch($(this).val()){ case "cxs": cxs ++; $('input[name="cxs"]').val(cxs); break; case "cs": cs ++; $('input[name="cs"]').val(cs); break; case "cm": cm ++; $('input[name="cm"]').val(cm); break; } }); }

  • ASP.NET MVC 3: Razor’s @: and <text> syntax

    - by ScottGu
This is another in a series of posts I’m doing that cover some of the new ASP.NET MVC 3 features: New @model keyword in Razor (Oct 19th) Layouts with Razor (Oct 22nd) Server-Side Comments with Razor (Nov 12th) Razor’s @: and <text> syntax (today) In today’s post I’m going to discuss two useful syntactical features of the new Razor view-engine – the @: and <text> syntax support. Fluid Coding with Razor ASP.NET MVC 3 ships with a new view-engine option called “Razor” (in addition to the existing .aspx view engine).  You can learn more about Razor, why we are introducing it, and the syntax it supports from my Introducing Razor blog post.  Razor minimizes the number of characters and keystrokes required when writing a view template, and enables a fast, fluid coding workflow. Unlike most template syntaxes, you do not need to interrupt your coding to explicitly denote the start and end of server blocks within your HTML. The Razor parser is smart enough to infer this from your code. This enables a compact and expressive syntax which is clean, fast and fun to type. For example, the Razor snippet below can be used to iterate a list of products: When run, it generates output like:   One of the techniques that Razor uses to implicitly identify when a code block ends is to look for tag/element content to denote the beginning of a content region.  For example, in the code snippet above Razor automatically treated the inner <li></li> block within our foreach loop as an HTML content block because it saw the opening <li> tag sequence and knew that it couldn’t be valid C#.  This particular technique – using tags to identify content blocks within code – is one of the key ingredients that makes Razor so clean and productive with scenarios involving HTML creation. Using @: to explicitly indicate the start of content Not all content container blocks start with a tag element tag, though, and there are scenarios where the Razor parser can’t implicitly detect a content block. Razor addresses this by enabling you to explicitly indicate the beginning of a line of content by using the @: character sequence within a code block.  The @: sequence indicates that the line of content that follows should be treated as a content block: As a more practical example, the below snippet demonstrates how we could output a “(Out of Stock!)” message next to our product name if the product is out of stock: Because I am not wrapping the (Out of Stock!) message in an HTML tag element, Razor can’t implicitly determine that the content within the @if block is the start of a content block.  We are using the @: character sequence to explicitly indicate that this line within our code block should be treated as content. Using Code Nuggets within @: content blocks In addition to outputting static content, you can also have code nuggets embedded within a content block that is initiated using a @: character sequence.  For example, we have two @: sequences in the code snippet below: Notice how within the second @: sequence we are emitting the number of units left within the content block (e.g. - “(Only 3 left!”). We are doing this by embedding a @p.UnitsInStock code nugget within the line of content. Multiple Lines of Content Razor makes it easy to have multiple lines of content wrapped in an HTML element.  For example, below the inner content of our @if container is wrapped in an HTML <p> element – which will cause Razor to treat it as content: For scenarios where the multiple lines of content are not wrapped by an outer HTML element, you can use multiple @: sequences: Alternatively, Razor also allows you to use a <text> element to explicitly identify content: The <text> tag is an element that is treated specially by Razor. It causes Razor to interpret the inner contents of the <text> block as content, and to not render the containing <text> tag element (meaning only the inner contents of the <text> element will be rendered – the tag itself will not).  This makes it convenient when you want to render multi-line content blocks that are not wrapped by an HTML element.  The <text> element can also optionally be used to denote single-lines of content, if you prefer it to the more concise @: sequence: The above code will render the same output as the @: version we looked at earlier.  Razor will automatically omit the <text> wrapping element from the output and just render the content within it.  Summary Razor enables a clean and concise templating syntax that enables a very fluid coding workflow.  Razor’s smart detection of <tag> elements to identify the beginning of content regions is one of the reasons that the Razor approach works so well with HTML generation scenarios, and it enables you to avoid having to explicitly mark the beginning/ending of content regions in about 95% of if/else and foreach scenarios. Razor’s @: and <text> syntax can then be used for scenarios where you want to avoid using an HTML element within a code container block, and need to more explicitly denote a content region. • Cannot Open Shared Object cygmpfr-1.dll

I'm testing CeGCC, that is a gcc built to cross-compile applications to Windows CE devices. As everyone do to test compilers, I've done a Hello World program: #include <stdio.h> int main() { printf("Hello, World!"); return 0; } As I'm using Windows now(because this is my other laptop), I'm using Cygwin. But when I tried to compile I got some errors, as you can see on the terminal log: C:\Dev\WinCE\Testarm-mingw32ce-gcc test.c /opt/mingw32ce/libexec/gcc/arm-mingw32ce/4.4.0/cc1.exe: error while loading shared libraries: cygmpfr-1.dll: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory C:\Dev\WinCE\Test What can I do?

  • Inner synchronization on the same object as the outer synchronization

    - by Yaneeve
Recently I attended a lecture concerning some design patterns: The following code had been displayed: public static Singleton getInstance() { if (instance == null) { synchronized(Singleton.class) { //1 Singleton inst = instance; //2 if (inst == null) { synchronized(Singleton.class) { //3 inst = new Singleton(); //4 } instance = inst; //5 } } } return instance; } taken from: Double-checked locking: Take two My question has nothing to do with the above mentioned pattern but with the synchronized block: Is there any benefit whatsoever to the double synchronization done in lines 1 & 3 with regards to the fact that the synchronize operation is done on the same Object?

  • How to eager load in WCF Ria Services/Linq2SQLDomainModel

    - by Aggelos Mpimpoudis
I have a databound grid at my view (XAML) and the Itemsource points to a ReportsCollection. The Reports entity has three primitives and some complex types. These three are shown as expected at datagrid. Additionally the Reports entity has a property of type Store. When loading Reports via GetReports domain method, I quickly figure out that only primitives are returned and not the whole graph of some depth. So, as I wanted to load the Store property too, I made this alteration at my domain service: public IQueryable<Report> GetReports() { return this.ObjectContext.Reports.Include("Store"); } From what I see at the immediate window, store is loaded as expected, but when returned to client is still pruned. How can this be fixed? Thank you!

  • WPF ComboBox Binding to non string object

    - by Mike L
I'm using MVVM (MVVM Light Toolkit) and have a property on the view model which exposes a list of objects. The objects contain two properties, both strings, which correlate to an abbreviation and a description. I want the ComboBox to expose the pairing as "abbreviation - description". If I use a data template, it does this easily. I have another property on the view model which represents the object that should display as selected -- the chosen item in the ComboBox. I'm binding the ItemsSource to the list, as it represents the universe of available selections, and am trying to bind the SelectedItem to this object. I'm killing myself trying to figure out why I can't get it to work, and feeling more like a fraud by the hour. In trying to learn why this works, I created the same approach with just a list of strings, and a selected string. This works perfectly. So, it clearly has something to do with the typing... perhaps something in choosing equality? Or perhaps it has to do with the data template? Here is the XAML: <Window x:Class="MvvmLight1.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="MainWindow" Height="300" Width="300" DataContext="{Binding Main, Source={StaticResource Locator}}"> <Window.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="Skins/MainSkin.xaml" /> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <DataTemplate x:Key="DataTemplate1"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <TextBlock TextWrapping="Wrap" Text="{Binding CourtCode}"/> <TextBlock TextWrapping="Wrap" Text=" - "/> <TextBlock TextWrapping="Wrap" Text="{Binding CourtDescription}"/> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ResourceDictionary> </Window.Resources> <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot"> <ComboBox x:Name="cmbAbbrevDescriptions" Height="35" Margin="25,75,25,25" VerticalAlignment="Top" ItemsSource="{Binding Codes}" ItemTemplate="{DynamicResource DataTemplate1}" SelectedItem="{Binding selectedCode}" /> <ComboBox x:Name="cmbStrings" Height="35" Margin="25" VerticalAlignment="Top" ItemsSource="{Binding strs}" SelectedItem="{Binding selectedStr}"/> </Grid> </Window> And, if helpful, here is the ViewModel: using GalaSoft.MvvmLight; using MvvmLight1.Model; using System.Collections.Generic; namespace MvvmLight1.ViewModel { public class MainViewModel : ViewModelBase { public const string CodesPropertyName = "Codes"; private List<Court> _codes = null; public List<Court> Codes { get { return _codes; } set { if (_codes == value) { return; } var oldValue = _codes; _codes = value; // Update bindings and broadcast change using GalaSoft.Utility.Messenging RaisePropertyChanged(CodesPropertyName, oldValue, value, true); } } public const string selectedCodePropertyName = "selectedCode"; private Court _selectedCode = null; public Court selectedCode { get { return _selectedCode; } set { if (_selectedCode == value) { return; } var oldValue = _selectedCode; _selectedCode = value; // Update bindings and broadcast change using GalaSoft.Utility.Messenging RaisePropertyChanged(selectedCodePropertyName, oldValue, value, true); } } public const string strsPropertyName = "strs"; private List<string> _strs = null; public List<string> strs { get { return _strs; } set { if (_strs == value) { return; } var oldValue = _strs; _strs = value; // Update bindings and broadcast change using GalaSoft.Utility.Messenging RaisePropertyChanged(strsPropertyName, oldValue, value, true); } } public const string selectedStrPropertyName = "selectedStr"; private string _selectedStr = ""; public string selectedStr { get { return _selectedStr; } set { if (_selectedStr == value) { return; } var oldValue = _selectedStr; _selectedStr = value; // Update bindings and broadcast change using GalaSoft.Utility.Messenging RaisePropertyChanged(selectedStrPropertyName, oldValue, value, true); } } /// <summary> /// Initializes a new instance of the MainViewModel class. /// </summary> public MainViewModel() { Codes = new List<Court>(); Court code1 = new Court(); code1.CourtCode = "ABC"; code1.CourtDescription = "A Court"; Court code2 = new Court(); code2.CourtCode = "DEF"; code2.CourtDescription = "Second Court"; Codes.Add(code1); Codes.Add(code2); Court code3 = new Court(); code3.CourtCode = "DEF"; code3.CourtDescription = "Second Court"; selectedCode = code3; selectedStr = "Hello"; strs = new List<string>(); strs.Add("Goodbye"); strs.Add("Hello"); strs.Add("Ciao"); } } } And here is the ridiculously trivial class that is being exposed: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; namespace MvvmLight1.Model { public class Court { public string CourtCode { get; set; } public string CourtDescription { get; set; } } } Thanks!

  • object of type 'closure' is not subsettable - contradiction?

    - by Alex
I'm writing a function to produce time series plots of stock prices. However, I'm getting the following error "Error in df[, 7] : object of type 'closure' is not subsettable" Here's an example of the function: plot.prices <- function(df) { require(ggplot2) g <- ggplot(df, aes(x= as.Date(Date, format= "%Y-%m-%d"), y= df[, 7])) + geom_point(size=1) # ... code not shown... g } And example data: spy <- read.csv(file= 'http://ichart.finance.yahoo.com/table.csv?s=SPY&d=11&e=1&f=2012&g=d&a=0&b=29&c=1993&ignore=.csv', header= T) plot.prices(spy) # produces error ggplot(spy, aes(x= as.Date(Date, format= "%Y-%m-%d"), y= spy[, 7])) + geom_point(size=1) ## does not produce error As you can see, the code is identical. I get an error if the call to ggplot() is INSIDE the function but not if the call to ggplot() is OUTSIDE the function. Anyone have any idea why the seeming contradiction?

  • Need Sharepoint like modal pop-up window

I need to show Sharepoint 2010 like pop-up window when clicked on a link in grid view. Once the modal pop-up displayed and user selected the Save button data base should be updated with given values in pop-up. How can I get this. Any Idea. As of now I am using below code to get it but no idea how to pass the values to Database once clicked on the button in pop-up Note: As of now I am not adding the gridview code here as I wanted to achieve it first with sample html then wanted to do with grid view. Java Script function openDialog() { var options = { html: divModalDialogContent, // ID of the HTML tag // or HTML content to be displayed in modal dialog width: 600, height: 300, title: "My First Modal Dialog", dialogReturnValueCallback: dialogCallbackMethod, // custom callback function allowMaximize: true, showClose: true }; SP.UI.ModalDialog.showModalDialog(options); } //Results displayed if 'OK' or 'Cancel' button is clicked if the html content has 'OK' and 'Cancel' buttons function onDialogClose(dialogResult, returnValue) { if (dialogResult == SP.UI.DialogResult.OK) { alert('Ok!'); } if (dialogResult == SP.UI.DialogResult.cancel) { alert('Cancel'); } } // Custom callback function after the dialog is closed function dialogCallbackMethod() { alert('Callback method of modal dialog!'); } HTML <div id="divModalDialogContent"> Hello World! <input type="button" value="OK"onclick="SP.UI.ModalDialog.commonModalDialogClose(SP.UI.DialogResult.OK, 'Ok clicked'); return false;" class="ms-ButtonHeightWidth" /> <input type="button" value="Cancel"onclick="SP.UI.ModalDialog.commonModalDialogClose(SP.UI.DialogResult.cancel, 'Cancel clicked'); return false;" class="ms-ButtonHeightWidth" /> <asp:Button runat="server" ID="btnClicked" Text="Clicked" onclick="btnClicked_Click" /> <input type="button" value="Open" onclick="openDialog()" /> How can I call db upon clicking 'clicked' button in pop-up. • C# System.Threading.Timer and its state object

    - by Captain NedD
I am writing a C# program that uses System.Threading.Timer to timeout on a UDP socket ReceiveAsync call. My program polls a remote device, sending a UDP packet and expecting one in return. I use the timer in one shot mode calling Timer.Change every time I want a new timeout period. For every occurance of a timeout I'd like the timeout handler to have a different piece of information. If I change the object I pass to the Timer on creation it doesn't seem to change when the handler executes. Is the only way to do this to destroy the timer and create a new one? Thanks,

  • UML Class Diagram for User Login

Hi, The diagram below is my very first attempt at creating a UML class diagram describing a user login into a website. I'm sure its a poor design and full of flaws, but I'm hoping to learn from you guys how you would design a simple login like this. I'm particularly interested in your use of design patterns and which patterns you would use, how you would implement it in the design, and why. Any advise, criticisms, comments and suggestions will be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I am trying to figure out what 'topic' this is called, so I can learn more about it. Basically, I'm talking about designing my applications's architecture. I'm not talking about algorithms. More like -- this class should have these methods and these instance variables, and communicate with this class in this way, this class should have these responsibilities etc. Can anybody tell me what the name of this topic is called and how I can get better at doing this? Thanks.

  • wpf binding by selected value - swap out bound object without disturbing binding

    - by Andy Clarke
Hi, I've got combo box bound to a custom collection type - its basically an overridden ObservableCollection which I've added a facility to update the underlying collection (via Unity). I don't want to confuse the issue too much, but thats the background. My xaml looks like this <ComboBox ItemsSource="{Binding Manufacturers}" DisplayMemberPath="Name" SelectedValuePath="ID" SelectedValue="{Binding Vehicle.ManufacturerID}" /> And in my overridden collection i was doing this. index = IndexOf(oldItem); Insert(index, (T)newItem); RemoveAt(index + 1); I had hoped because it was bound by value, that inserting the new object(which had the same id) and then removing the old one would work. But it seems that although its bound by SelectedValue it still knows that its being swapped for a different one. The combo just looses its selection. Can anyone help please?
