    Hi experts, Assuming you've already had a chance to look through the lambda syntax proposed for Java7 (and the other things that have happened with Java, after Oracle has bought Sun + obvious problems in Java Community Process), what do you think is the future of Java language? Should I, as a Java greenhorn, invest time in learning Java language (not talking about the core JVM, which definitely will survive anything, and worth investments), or concentrate on Scala, Groovy, or other hybrid languages on the JVM platform (I've came into Java world from PHP/Ruby). It seems to me that the ruby community will probably have the fastest uptake, and as a result the most support. Does that seem right?   • mysql_connect randomly hangs up

    I install php 5 (more precisely 5.3.1) as apache module. After this one of my application becomes randomly hang up on mysql_connect - sometimes works, sometimes no, sometimes reload of page helps. How can this be fixed? I use Windows Vista, Apache/2.2.14 (Win32) PHP/5.3.1 with php module, MySql 5.0.67-community-nt.

  • java alternative for phpMyAdmin

    I find myself working in an environment where all I have access to is Tomcat + MySQL. No Apache, no PHP. I'm looking for a web interface to MySQL that will run under Tomcat (can't be a desktop interface, as the mysql port is not accessible). I'm tried jMyAdmin and javaMyAdmin. I can't get either to work, and both lack documentation and community support. Can anyone make a recommendation please?

However the hair pulling was so much that you'd never add it to your resume (even though it might sound impressive) for fear that a future employer might think your the ideal candidate to "migrate", "integrate" or otherwise work with "Application X". Feel free to elaborate on why... (e.g. their APIs change monthly, there is/was no API, etc.) (made into a community wiki)

    My instance of Drupal 7 is unable to install new modules via FTP link. The error message that comes up is as follows : Warning: fileowner() [function.fileowner]: stat failed for temporary://upd92FE.tmp in update_manager_local_transfers_allowed() (line 924 of C:\inetpub\wwwroot\drupal\modules\update\update.manager.inc).
