• Ninject.Web, OnePerRequestModule, and IIS7 Integrated Pipeline

  Using Ninject.Web with ASP.NET WebForms project. Works without issues using classic pipeline, but when it's under integrated pipeline, a null reference exception occurs on every request (which I've narrowed down to the use of the OnePerRequestModule): [NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.] System.Web.PipelineStepManager.ResumeSteps(Exception error) +1216 System.Web.HttpApplication.BeginProcessRequestNotification(HttpContext context, AsyncCallback cb) +113 System.Web.HttpRuntime.ProcessRequestNotificationPrivate(IIS7WorkerRequest wr, HttpContext context) +616 The above always occurs unless I remove the OnePerRequestModule initializization. occurs consistently on a very basic test app I put together. On a standard app where I actually want to implement it, I can solve the issue by initializing the OnePerRequestModule like so: protected override IKernel CreateKernel() { // This will always blow up. //var module = new OnePerRequestModule(); //module.Init(this); IKernel kernel = new StandardKernel(new MyModule()); // This works on larger app, but on basic app, it makes no difference under integrated pipeline as the above exception is always thrown. var module = new OnePerRequestModule(); module.Init(this); return kernel; } Before I start spelunking further, is anybody out there using Ninject.Web extension successfully under the integrated pipeline in IIS7 AND using the OnePerRequestModule? There are certain restrictions for modules under the integrated pipeline that weren't there in previous IIS versions/classic pipeline. • Add PRISM Region Manager In Existing Navigation Window

  We have a "legacy" WPF applicaton that is based on a NavigationWindow. The NavigationWindow has a fairly large ControlTemplate that houses a ContentPresenter as so: <ControlTemplate> ....snip... <ContentPresenter x:Name="PART_NavWinCP" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"/> .....snip.... </ControlTemplate> What we want to do is use that ContentPresenter as the first tab and dynamically add other tabs at run time. Like this: <ControlTemplate> ....snip... <TabControl Background="Transparent" cal:RegionManager.RegionName="MainRegion" Grid.ColumnSpan="2" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"> <TabItem Header="Nav Window Content"> <ContentPresenter x:Name="PART_NavWinCP" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"/> </TabItem> </TabControl> .....snip.... </ControlTemplate> Then our Modules grab the RegionName and insert their content dynamically. The issue seems to be that the PRISM region manager doesn't like that our code is in a ContentTemplate and cannot resolve the region. I have tried updating the RegionManager, adding the Region dynamically, just having a root tab control without the ContentPresenter, but I cannot get this to work. Any ideas?

• Managing a file-based public maven repository

  I am looking for an easy way to manage a public file-based Maven repository. While we are using the open-source version of Artifactory internally, we now want to put a file-based repository of our published artifacts (and their dependencies) on a separate machine that is publicly available. There are several ways how to do this, but none of them seems ideal: Use Maven Dependency plugin: if it is configured correctly and executed with the goal dependency:copy-dependencies for the release-module of our project, it creates a local repository structure that is fine, but this structure does not contain the meta-data.xml files, nor the hash-sums. Use Artifactory to export repo: AFAIK Artifactory only allows to export a repository as a whole. This would include the non-published modules from our project (which would then need to be deleted manually). Also, all dependencies are sitting in another repository, so this needs to be done twice, and many dependencies are not even required by a published artifact (only by artifacts that are still for internal use only). Nevertheless, this method would also include the meta-data.xml files and the hash-sums for all files. To set up an initial version of the repository, I used a mixture of both methods: I first created the Maven repository for all required dependencies via dependency:copy-dependencies and then wrote a script to cherry-pick the meta-data.xml files (etc.) from Artifactory. This is terribly cumbersome, isn't there a better way to solve this? Maybe there is another Maven 3 - plugin that I am unaware of, or some other command-line tool that does the job? I basically just need a simple way to create a Maven repository that contains all artifacts a given artifact depends on (and no more), and also contains all meta-data expected in a remote repository. Any ideas?

• How should I distribute a pre-built perl module, and what version of perl do I build for?

  This is probably a multi-part question. Background: we have a native (c++) library that is part of our application and we have managed to use SWIG to generate a perl wrapper for this library. We'd now like to distribute this perl module as part of our application. My first question - how should I distribute this module? Is there a standard way to package pre-built perl modules? I know there is ppm for the ActiveState distro, but I also need to distribute this for linux systems. I'm not even sure what files are required to distribute, but I'm guessing it's the pm and so files, at a minimum. My next question - it looks like I might need to build my module project for each version of perl that I want to support. How do I know which perl versions I should build for? Are there any standard guidelines... or better yet, a way to build a package that will work with multiple versions of perl? Sorry if my questions make no sense - I'm fairly new to the compiled module aspects of perl. CLARIFICATION: the underlying compiled source is proprietary (closed source), so I can't just ship source code and the appropriate make artifacts for the package. Wish I could, but it's not going to happen in this case. Thus, I need a sane scheme for packaging prebuilt binary files for my module.

• Using Crypt function Python 3.3.2

  In Windows and Python version 3.3.2, I try and call the python module like so: hash2 = crypt(word, salt) I import it at the top of my program like so: from crypt import * The result I get is the following: Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\none\of\your\business\adams.py", line 10, in <module> from crypt import * File "C:\Python33\lib\crypt.py", line 3, in <module> import _crypt ImportError: No module named '_crypt' However, when I execute the same file adams.py in Ubuntu, with Python 2.7.3, it executes perfectly - no errors. I tried the following to resolve the issue for my Windows & Python 3.3.2 (though I'm sure the OS isn't the issue, the Python version or my use of syntax is the issue): Rename the directory in the Python33 directory from Lib to lib Rename the crypt.py in lib to _crypt.py. However, it turns out the entire crypt.py module depends on an external module called _crypt.py too. Browsed internet to download anything remotely appropriate to resemble _crypt.py It's not Python, right? It's me...(?) I'm using syntaxes to import and use external modules that are acceptable in 2.7.3, but not in 3.3.2. Or have I found a bug in 3.3.2?

• Using IIS Application Request Routing (ARR) for ASP.NET MVC

  I use a simple ASP.NET MVC web (the template you use when you create a new site) and the web works as expected in my live environment. I now try to use IIS Application Request Routing version 2. I have a rule that send all reuqests to a different server that match a rule. The settings are a bit like this: http://blogs.iis.net/wonyoo/archive/2008/07/09/application-request-routing-arr-as-a-reverse-proxy.aspx My rule is just a bit different it is /shop(.*). Only requests that contain shop are send to a different server. I have to use rewrite, not redirect (The same as in the Picture) This works as long as the web the original requests go to is no ASP.NET MVC web. I tried to use a plain htm file in the webfolder and it worked. If put a compiled ASP.NET application into the webfolder it worked. But as soon as I put an ASP.NET MVC web into the folder, request arr served by this application. My understanding is that the ARR should kick in before the web application gets the chance to handle the request. Did anybody use ARR sucessfully as a reverse proxy for a ASP.NET MVC web? EDIT Here is the resulting web config when the rewrite roule is entered. • ExtJs - Set a fixed width in a center layout in a Panel

  Hi all, Using ExtJs. I'm trying to design a main which is divided into three sub panels (a tree list, a grid and a panel). The way it works is that you have a tree list (west) with elements, you click on an element which populates the grid (center), then you click on an element in the grid and that generates the panel (west). My main panel containing the three other ones has been defined with a layout 'border'. Now the problem I face is that the center layout (the grid) has been defined in the code with a fixed width and the west panel as an auto width. But when the interface gets generated, the grid width is suddenly taking all the space in the interface instead of the west panel. • "Admin module" taking over [Yii framework]

  Hi I have an "admin" module and I want it to serve "dynamic controllers", i.e. to provide a default behaviour for controllers which don't really exist ("virtual controllers"). I've invented a lightweight messaging mechanism for loose communication between modules. I'd like to use it such that when e.g. ?r=admin/users/index is requested, it will call the "virtual controller" "UserController" of AdminModule, which would, by default, use this messaging mechanism to notify the real module "UsersModule" it can answer to the request. I thought about simulating this behaviour in AdminModule::init(), but at that point I have no way of deciding whether the action can be processed by a real controller or not, or at least I don't know how to do it. This is because of the way Yii works: bottom-up, the controller is the one that renders the view AND the application layout (or the module's, if it exists), for example. I don't think the module even has a word to say about handling a given controller+action or not. To recap, I'm looking for a kind of CWebModule::missingController($controllerId,$actionId), just like CController::missingAction($actionId), or a workaround to simulate that. That would possibly be in CWebModule::init() or somewhere where I can find out whether the controller actually exists, in which case it's his job to handle it the $actionID and $controllerID whether the module $controllerID exists (I didn't type it wrong, in r=admin/users/index, "users" is the actual module, as specified in the application's config).

• Zend Studio Debugger returns Application Error

  When I run debug for my public/index.php I got an application error as output. I've seen that it occurs at this line: foreach($feed->findFeedEntries($entriesLimit) as $entry) If I put a breakpoint before this, all works as expected, I mean, the error is after the line above. If I remove findFeedEntries() method, I can perform debugging without erros. • HRESULT of 0x806D0005 from Microsoft's Dia2Lib

  I'm trying to read a PDB file into a C# application. When I call loadDataFromPdb or loadAndValidateDataFromPdb with a file that I know exists, I get an HRESULT of 0x806D0005. Unfortunately, I have no idea what that means. I have the list of possible results [here](http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/2008hf0e(v=VS.80).aspx) but I'm afraid I can't conclusively determine the problem. Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong? Or at least a method of checking what that corresponds to?   A question for all the GWT gurus out there. I'm a newbie in GWT and am trying to understand the best practices of coding a GWT application. I have gone through "Large scale application development and MVP" based on Ray Ryan's talk at Google I/O 2009 and it has given me a good starting point. I downloaded the sample source code as well for the Contacts application based on the best practices listed. The application I'm trying to develop using GWT is a bit bigger (in terms of the modules involved) when compared to the sample "Contacts" application & so I want to split it up into multiple functions. I have been reading that having a single Entry point in a GWT application is a good idea, and I don't want to dump all the code in one single AppController class & one single RpcService, what would be the best approach in this situation? How would I go about dispatching the control to multiple controllers? Is there a way to achieve this using some classes in the GWT framework?

• IIS: No Session being handed out, but only in production

  I've reproduced this in a simple project - details below. It's a WCF service in ASP.NET compatibility mode. What I'm seeing is that when run on the dev machine (Win7), a HTTP session id is available inside the service operation (HttpContext.Current.Session is non-null). But when deployed to the server (Win2k8R2), I get "No session". On both machines the app is configured to use the classic app pool, and the app pools themselves are configured identically as far as I can tell. The only differences I can discern between the two applications is that on the dev box, under "Handler Mappings", ISAPI-dll is disabled (not on the server), and on the server there's a spurious handler called "AboMapperCustom-7105160" (does not exist on the dev box). What should I be looking at next? Am I missing something head-slappingly simple? • How do I copy a python function to a remote machine and then execute it?

  I'm trying to create a construct in Python 3 that will allow me to easily execute a function on a remote machine. Assuming I've already got a python tcp server that will run the functions it receives, running on the remote server, I'm currently looking at using a decorator like @execute_on(address, port) This would create the necessary context required to execute the function it is decorating and then send the function and context to the tcp server on the remote machine, which then executes it. Firstly, is this somewhat sane? And if not could you recommend a better approach? I've done some googling but haven't found anything that meets these needs. I've got a quick and dirty implementation for the tcp server and client so fairly sure that'll work. I can get a string representation the function (e.g. func) being passed to the decorator by import inspect string = inspect.getsource(func) which can then be sent to the server where it can be executed. The problem is, how do I get all of the context information that the function requires to execute? For example, if func is defined as follows, import MyModule def func(): result = MyModule.my_func() MyModule will need to be available to func either in the global context or funcs local context on the remote server. In this case that's relatively trivial but it can get so much more complicated depending on when and how import statements are used. Is there an easy and elegant way to do this in Python? The best I've come up with at the moment is using the ast library to pull out all import statements, using the inspect module to get string representations of those modules and then reconstructing the entire context on the remote server. Not particularly elegant and I can see lots of room for error. Thanks for your time

  I need to install the ffmpeg PHP extension on my localhost so I can test few of my scripts but I am having troubles figuring out how to do that. I have WampServer 2.0 with PHP 5.2.9-2, my OS is Windows XP. Please somebody give me step by step instructions. I have found some Windows builds here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffmpeg-php/files/ But I don't know which one to download and what to do with files.
