• Why use Soap as authenitcation in webservice?

  Hi I am looking at this tutorial http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cpp/authforwebservices.aspx and I am wondering what the reason for using authentication through soap is? Like why not just pass the username and password through the parameters instead? Is it more secure to do it like the way the guy is in the tutorial verus just using passing it through as parameters? It's a Simple Operation, Which Pass Input/Output FilePath to Interop dll ...& dll will execute text form input file. To Improve Performace I have Tried, Execute 2 therad to process 32 files.(each Thread process 16 files) Execute application code by creating 2 new AppDomains(each AppDomain Code process 16 files) Execute Code Using TPL(Task Parellel Library) But all options take around same time (32 sec) to process 32 files.Manually process tooks same 32 sec to process 32 files. Just tried one thing ..when i have created sample exe to process 16 files as input & output for refrence PAth given in TextBox. ..I open 2 exe instance to process. 1 exe has differnt 16 input files & output Created with input file path 2 exe has differnt 16 input files & output Created with input file path When i click on start button of both exe ..it use 100% cpu & Utilize both core significantly & Process Completed within 16 sec for 32 files. Can we provide this kind of explicit prallism to Improve my applicaiton Peformace? Thanks.

  Is it possible to use pure Encoding and Decoding keys instead of private and public keys? As I know in .Net asymmetric RSA implementation private key RSAParameters parameters = (new RSACryptoServiceProvider()).ExportParameters(true) is a superset of public key. And using private key we can both encode and decode our data. But I need key only for decoding data. How to do it? I experimented on nulling RSAParameters fields, but RSACryptoServiceProvider object can't import such parameters.

• Copy a directory from a jar file

  Hi. I recently finished and application and created a jar file. One of my classes creates an output directory populating it with files from it's resource. The code is something like this: // Copy files from dir "template" in this class resource to output. private void createOutput(File output) throws IOException { File template = new File(FileHelper.URL2Path(getClass().getResource("template"))); FileHelper.copyDirectory(template, output); } The problem is that now that I am running for a jar, this doesn't work. I tried without luck: Using Streams to solve similar stuff on other classes but it doesn't work with dirs. Code was similar to http://www.exampledepot.com/egs/java.io/CopyFile.html Creating the File template with new File(getClass().getResource("template").toUri()) While writting this I was thinking about instead of having a template dir in the resource path having a zip file of it. Doing it this way I could get the file as an inputStream and unzip it where I need to. But I am not sure if it's the correct way. Thanks for reading!

• Emacs 23.2 opens a new window for each compile error/warning navigated to

  I've recently upgraded from Carbon Emacs (v22.3) to vanilla Emacs 23.2 (from http://www.emacsformacosx.com). On Carbon Emacs when compiling a project, The frame is split in two with the current source file/SConscript in the top window, and the compile output in the bottom window. I'd hit C-x ` to navigate to the first warning or error in the compile output and it would replace whatever was in the top window with the source file the error or warning is in. In Emacs 23.2, however, a 3rd window is opened causing two windows open in the top half of the frame (split vertically) and the compile output in the window of the bottom half of the frame. How do I tell Emacs to not open a new window and instead open the code in the the existing non-compiler output window in the frame? A little further clarification on the behavior that I just noticed. If I hit C-x ` while the buffer containing the source file or SConscript file is active, no new window is opened. It's only if I'm manually navigating through the *compilation* buffer and hitting enter on an error or warning, or mouse clicking on a warning when a third buffer window appears.

• How do I launch background jobs w/ paramiko?

  Here is my scenario: I am trying to automate some tasks using Paramiko. The tasks need to be started in this order (using the notation (host, task)): (A, 1), (B, 2), (C, 2), (A,3), (B,3) -- essentially starting servers and clients for some testing in the correct order. Further, because in the tests networking may get mucked up, and because I need some of the output from the tests, I would like to just redirect output to a file. In similar scenarios the common response is to use 'screen -m -d' or to use 'nohup'. However with paramiko's exec_cmd, nohup doesn't actually exit. Using: bash -c -l nohup test_cmd & doesnt work either, exec_cmd still blocks to process end. In the screen case, output redirection doesn't work very well, (actually, doesnt work at all the best I can figure out). So, after all that explanation, my question is: is there an easy elegant way to detach processes and capture output in such a way as to end paramiko's exec_cmd blocking? Update The dtach command works nicely for this!

  I created my own module called "cssswitch". I'm trying to create my own html layout to display the admin form portion of the module. I understand how to use the hook_form_alter() to modify form elements, but I need to create the entire form layout to make some fields appear next to each other.   I have inherited some really old VC6.0 code that I am upgrading to VS2008 for building a 64-bit app. One required feature that was implemented long, long ago is overriding std::cout so its output goes simultaneously to a console window and to a file. The implementation depended on the then-current VC98 library implementation of ostream and, of course, is now irretrievably broken with VS2008. It would be reasonable to accumulate all the output until program termination time and then dump it to a file. I got part of the way home by using freopen(), setvbuf(), and ios::sync_with_stdio(), but to my dismay, the internal library does not treat its buffer as a ring buffer; instead when it flushes to the output device it restarts at the beginning, so every flush wipes out all my accumulated output. Converting to a more standard logging function is not desirable, as there are over 1600 usages of "std::cout << " scattered throughout almost 60 files. I have considered overriding ostream's operator<< function, but I'm not sure if that will cover me, since there are global operator<< functions that can't be overridden. (Or can they?) Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

  As I understand it, C# passes parameters into methods by reference. In vb.net, you can specify this with ByVal and ByRef. The default is ByVal. • Are Fortran control characters (carriage control) still implemented in compilers?

  In the book Fortran 95/2003 for Scientists and Engineers, there is much talk given to the importance of recognizing that the first column in a format statement is reserved for control characters. I've also seen control characters referred to as carriage control on the internet. To avoid confusion, by control characters, I refer to the characters "1, a blank (i.e. \s), 0, and +" as having an effect on the vertical spacing of output when placed in the first column (character) of a FORMAT statement. Also, see this text-only web page written entirely in fixed-width typeface : Fortran carriage-control (because nothing screams accuracy and antiquity better than prose in monospaced font). I found this page and others like it to be not quite clear. According to Fortran 95/2003 for Scientists and Engineers, failure to recall that the first column is reserved for carriage control can lead to horrible unintended output. Paraphrasing Dave Barry, type the wrong character, and nuclear missiles get fired at Norway. However, when I attempt to adhere to this stern warning, I find that gfortran has no idea what I'm talking about. Allow me to illustrate my point with some example code. My question, then, is this: Are control characters still implemented in standards compliant compilers or is gfortran simply not standards compliant?   I am creating an email using the c# MailMessage and I am trying to add a checkbox that doesn't need to be clicked. The checkboxes will be used for a checklist of what to bring to an event (like a packing list).   I have different php output in jQuery-based tabs. This output is formed from database and it consists of several <div>'s.   How do you encode a javascript object/hash (pairs of properties and values) into a URL-encoded query string with YUI (2.7.0 or 3.0.0 Beta) ? I want to do the equivalent of Object.toQueryString() from Prototype: I need this to encode parameters for GET and POST requests with YAHOO.util.Connect. It turns out YAHOO.util.Connect has a setForm() method to serialize a form but that still leaves me out cold to encode parameters for GET requests, or the 4th parameter of YAHOO.util.Connect.asyncRequest() to pass post data.

  Hi all, I was wondering if there is an algorithm to split a line into multiple lines, so that the resulting set of multiple lines fit into a square shape rather than a rectangle. Let me give some examples, Input: Hi this is a really long line. Output: Hi this is a really long line Input: a b c d e f Output: a b c d e f Input: This is really such looooooooooooooooooooong line.This is the end. Output: This is really such looooooooooooooooooooong line This is the end. If you see in the above examples, input line fits into a wide rectangle. But the output more or less fits into a square shape. Essentially what needs to be done here is simply count the number of characters in the line, take the square root of that number. Then put square root number of characters in each line. But in the above example, the splitting needs to be done by respecting word wraps instead of characters. Is there any standard algorithm for this? Any code examples/ pointers would be appreciated!
