  • ASP.NET MVC3 Custom Membership Provider - The membership provider name specified is invalid.

    - by David Lively
I'm implementing a custom membership provider, and everything seems to go swimmingly until I create a MembershipUser object. At that point, I receive the error: The membership provider name specified is invalid. Parameter name: providerName In web.config the membership key is <membership defaultProvider="MembersProvider"> <providers> <clear/> <add name="MembersProvider" type="Members.Providers.MembersProvider" connectionStringName="ApplicationServices" enablePasswordRetrieval="false" enablePasswordReset="true" requiresQuestionAndAnswer="false" requiresUniqueEmail="false" maxInvalidPasswordAttempts="5" minRequiredPasswordLength="6" minRequiredNonalphanumericCharacters="0" passwordAttemptWindow="10" applicationName="DeviceDatabase" /> </providers> </membership> When creating the MembershipUser object from my custom User class: public static MembershipUser ToMembershipUser(User user) { MembershipUser member = new MembershipUser ("MembersProvider" , user.Name , user.Id , user.EmailAddress , user.PasswordQuestion , user.Comment , user.IsApproved , user.IsLockedOut , user.DateCreated , user.LastLoginDate ?? DateTime.MinValue , user.LastActivityDate ?? DateTime.MinValue , user.LastPasswordChangedDate ?? DateTime.MinValue , user.LastLockoutDate ?? DateTime.MinValue ); return member; } (I realize I could probably just inherit my User class from MembershipUser, but it's already part of an existing class hierarchy. I honestly think this is the first time I've encountered a legitimate need for for multiple inheritance!) My feeling is that the new MembershipUser(...) providerName parameter is supposed to match what's set in web.config, but, since they match already, I'm at a loss as to how to proceed. Is there a convenient way to get the name of the active membership provider in code? I'm starting to think that using the built-in membership system is overkill and more trouble than it's worth. Edit Not sure if it's relevant, but the custom membership provider class is in a class library, not the main WAP project. Update Here's the contents of the System.Web.Security.Membership.Provider object as show in the VS2010 command window: >eval System.Web.Security.Membership.Provider {Members.Providers.MembersProvider} [Members.Providers.MembersProvider]: {Members.Providers.MembersProvider} base {System.Configuration.Provider.ProviderBase}: {Members.Providers.MembersProvider} ApplicationName: null EnablePasswordReset: true EnablePasswordRetrieval: false MaxInvalidPasswordAttempts: 5 MinRequiredNonAlphanumericCharacters: 0 MinRequiredPasswordLength: 6 PasswordAttemptWindow: 10 PasswordFormat: Function evaluation was aborted. • java memory management

    - by pavlos
    i have the following code snapshot: public void getResults( String expression, String collection ){ ReferenceList list; Vector lists = new Vector(); list = invertedIndex.get( 1 )//invertedIndex is class member lists.add(list); } when the method is finished, i supose that the local objects ( list, lists) are "destroyed". Can you tell if the memory occupied by list stored in invertedIndex is released as well? Or does java allocate new memory for list when assigning list = invertedIndex.get( 1 );

  • Error in creating template class

    - by Luciano
I found this vector template class implementation, but it doesn't compile on XCode. Header file: // File: myvector.h #ifndef _myvector_h #define _myvector_h template <typename ElemType> class MyVector { public: MyVector(); ~MyVector(); int size(); void add(ElemType s); ElemType getAt(int index); private: ElemType *arr; int numUsed, numAllocated; void doubleCapacity(); }; #include "myvector.cpp" #endif Implementation file: // File: myvector.cpp #include <iostream> #include "myvector.h" template <typename ElemType> MyVector<ElemType>::MyVector() { arr = new ElemType[2]; numAllocated = 2; numUsed = 0; } template <typename ElemType> MyVector<ElemType>::~MyVector() { delete[] arr; } template <typename ElemType> int MyVector<ElemType>::size() { return numUsed; } template <typename ElemType> ElemType MyVector<ElemType>::getAt(int index) { if (index < 0 || index >= size()) { std::cerr << "Out of Bounds"; abort(); } return arr[index]; } template <typename ElemType> void MyVector<ElemType>::add(ElemType s) { if (numUsed == numAllocated) doubleCapacity(); arr[numUsed++] = s; } template <typename ElemType> void MyVector<ElemType>::doubleCapacity() { ElemType *bigger = new ElemType[numAllocated*2]; for (int i = 0; i < numUsed; i++) bigger[i] = arr[i]; delete[] arr; arr = bigger; numAllocated*= 2; } If I try to compile as is, I get the following error: "Redefinition of 'MyVector::MyVector()'" The same error is displayed for every member function (.cpp file). In order to fix this, I removed the '#include "myvector.h"' on the .cpp file, but now I get a new error: "Expected constructor, destructor, or type conversion before '<' token". A similar error is displayed for every member as well. Interestingly enough, if I move all the .cpp code to the header file, it compiles fine. Does that mean I can't implement template classes in separate files?

  • NoSQL DB for .Net document-based database (ECM)

    - by Dane
I'm halfway through coding a basic multi-tenant SaaS ECM solution. Each client has it's own instance of the database / datastore, but the .Net app is single instance. The documents are pretty much read only (i.e. an image archive of tiffs or PDFs) I've used MSSQL so far, but then started thinking this might be viable in a NoSQL DB (e.g. MongoDB, CouchDB). The basic premise is that it stores documents, each with their own particular indexes. Each tenant can have multiple document types. e.g. One tenant might have an invoice type, which has Customer ID, Invoice Number and Invoice Date. Another tenant might have an application form, which has Member Number, Application Number, Member Name, and Application Date. So far I've used the old method which Sharepoint (used?) to use, and created a document table which has int_field_1, int_field_2, date_field_1, date_field_2, etc. Then, I've got a "mapping" table which stores the customer specific index name, and the database field that will map to. I've avoided the key-value pair model in the DB due to volume of documents. This way, we can support multiple document types in the one table, and get reasonably high performance out of it, and allow for custom document type searches (i.e. user selects a document type, then they're presented with a list of search fields). However, a NoSQL DB might make this a lot simpler, as I don't need to worry about denormalizing the document. However, I've just got concerns about the rest of the data around a document. We store an "action history" against the document. This tracks views, whether someone emails the document from within the system, and other "future" functionality (e.g. faxing). We have control over the document load process, so we can manipulate the data however it needs to be to get it in the document store (e.g. assign unique IDs). Users will not be adding in their own documents, so we shouldn't need to worry about ACID compliance, as the documents are relatively static. So, my questions I guess : Is a NoSQL DB a good fit Is MongoDB the best for Asp.Net (I saw Raven and Velocity, but they're still kinda beta) Can I store a key for each document, and then store the action history in a MSSQL DB with this key? I don't need to do joins, it would be if a person clicks "View History" against a document. How would performance compare between the two (NoSQL DB vs denormalized "document" table) Volumes would be up to 200,000 new documents per month for a single tenant. My current scaling plan with the SQL DB involves moving the SQL DB into a cluster when certain thresholds are reached, and then reviewing partitioning and indexing structures.

  • Must Dependency Injection come at the expense of Encapsulation?

    - by urig
If I understand correctly, the typical mechanism for Dependency Injection is to inject either through a class' constructor or through a public property (member) of the class. This exposes the dependency being injected and violates the OOP principle of encapsulation. Am I correct in identifying this tradeoff? How do you deal with this issue? Please also see my answer to my own question below.

  • Connect to ArcGIS Server w/ ArcCatalog

    - by nw
How does one add a workstation account to the agsadmin group on the server? Does this require both machines to be on the same Windows domain? A colleague cannot connect via ArcCatalog but I don't know how to add his account to the group because the account does not exist on the server. (Oddly I can connect from my machine, but my account is also not a member of the agsadmin group.)

  • Why is the volatile qualifier used through out std::atomic?

    - by Caspin
From what I've read from Herb Sutter and others you would think that volatile and concurrent programming were completely orthogonal concepts, at least as far as C/C++ are concerned. However, in GCC c++0x extension all of std::atomic's member functions have the volatile qualifier. The same is true in Anthony Williams's implementation of std::atomic. So what's deal, do my atomic<> variables need be volatile or not?

  • Rails find over multiple models

    - by kgb
I think I'm missing something very obvious and its making my brain hurt. class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_one :profile class Profile < ActiveRecord::Base has_one :user belongs_to :team I have a partial that loops through the users and print some basic info, I'm using this partial in my team show page. I had originally written this to return users who's profiles were a member of a team. def show @team = Team.find_by_id(params[:id]) @profiles= Profile.find(:all, :conditions => ['team_id = ?', @team.id]) @users = User.find_by_id(@profiles.user_id) end But quickly realized @profiles was an array, and it looks messy as hell. Stuck as to what my find should look like to select all User who have a profile that is a member of a team. The partial that is working elsewhere for displaying users looks like this <% for user in @users%> <table> <tr> <td> <%= image_tag user.profile.picture.url %> </td> <td> <a href="/users/<%= user.id %>"><%= user.login %></a> </td> <td> <%= user.profile.first_name %> <%= user.profile.second_name %> </td> <td> <%= user.profile.status %> </td> </tr> </table> <% end %> Development log output with updated show and relationships Processing TeamsController#show (for 127.0.0.1 at 2010-03-30 22:06:31) [GET] Parameters: {"id"=>"1"} User Load (1.3ms) SELECT * FROM "users" WHERE ("users"."id" = 3) LIMIT 1 Team Load (1.0ms) SELECT * FROM "teams" WHERE ("teams"."id" = 1) Rendering template within layouts/main Rendering teams/show Completed in 75ms (View: 11, DB: 2) | 200 OK [http://localhost/teams/1]

  • CodeDOM: Adding DebuggerStepThroughAttribute to property

    - by Dont Ask
I know how to add a DebuggerStepThroughAttribute to a method or a constructor, usually you add it to the CustomAttributes collection of a code member. But I don't see a way to do this for the setter and getter of a C# property, because neither of them provides this collection where you add the attributes. Does anyone have a clue?

However I can't manage to retrieve the type of the given member from the CodeElement-Object that I get when looping through codeClass.Members. How can I retrieve the type (int, string etc.)? PS: Reflection is not an option for my usecase.

  • How to declare a(n) vector/array of reducer objects in Cilk++?

    - by Jin
Hi All, I had a problem when I am using Cilk++, an extension to C++ for parallel computing. I found that I can't declare a vector of reducer objects: typedef cilk::reducer_opadd<int> T_reducer; vector<T_reducer> bitmiss_vec; for (int i = 0; i < 24; ++i) { T_reducer r; This is code that works (Provided by another member of Stack Overflow): sqlStr = "USE "&databaseNameRecordSet.Fields.Item("name")&";SELECT permission_name FROM fn_my_permissions(null, 'database')" This code checks what permissions I have on a given database - the problem being - if I dont have permission it throws an error and doesn't continue to draw the rest of my page. Anyone got any ideas on remedying this? Many Thanks, Joel
