• Looking for an application that scrolls or pans netbook screens running Windows

  I'm looking for a Windows 7 and XP compatible Windows desktop panning/scrolling tool. This is to solve a problem where some applications for example MSN have settings/preference Windows that are not resizeable. I have a Netbook with a small maximum screen resolution e.g. 1024x600. The fixed non-resizeable windows are too large for this display screen size so I cannot see all of the items on these windows, particularly the OK button to save settings. What I would like is a desktop scrolling/panning tool where if I move my mouse pointer to any edge of the display, it pans to show the region of the too-large-fixed window that I could not see. I use a Samsung N110 and Toshiba NB100 netbooks. I'm looking for: A general program that provides desktop panning/scrolling/expanded resolution to allow all regions of a non-resizeable fixed window Preferably a non-graphics hardware specific program but will accept a solution that works with both the above machines I'm NOT looking for (i.e. unsatisfactory answers others have asked that I've already searched and found): Advice on what programs to use that DON'T have the problem of fixed windows Alternative operating system solutions Plugging in an external monitor with larger resolution - I use this option but I need a solution when one is not available, e.g. while travelling etc Advice about not using small screen netbooks - I enjoy the compact convenience of them Advice about change the dpi settings in the Control Panel Display settings Advice about guesswork with the tab key to move the focus the off-screen item I cannot see Thank you in advance.

• Open an X application going through many hoops (SSH, vpn etc)

  The players: my home computer, running Linux with an X server running. (Call it HOME.) a remote site, to which I can connect over the internet using a VPN. (SITE) a Linux computer at the remote site, to which I can connect with ssh -X and nicely have X clients displaying on my local server. (MIDDLE) a very old Irix machine (an Onyx) at the remote site, which has no SSH server (therefore I can't ssh -X to it), only an ssh client. (ONYX) Purpose I need to run an X11 application on the ONYX machine, and see the GUI on HOME. I think I stumble upon xauth issues. So far The current situation is: ? HOME connects to SITE ? A vncserver starts on MIDDLE:7 ? vncviewer on HOME connects to vncserver on MIDDLE ? ONYX starts a forwarding ssh session to MIDDLE: ssh -TfN -L 6007:127.0.0.1:6007 MIDDLE ? DISPLAY=localhost:7 xclient on ONYX fails with Xlib: connection to "127.0.0.1:7.0" refused by server I do know that the forwarding (6007:127.0.0.1:6007) succeeds. A previous attempt was: ? HOME connects to SITE ? HOME connects to MIDDLE: ssh -X MIDDLE (xclock displays on HOME, DISPLAY is 127.0.0.1:10) ? ONYX starts an SSH tunnel to MIDDLE: ssh -TfN -L 6010:127.0.0.1:6010 MIDDLE ? • Sync Local ICS File with Android via Exchange/Outlook

  At my company we have a 3rd party app which tracks off-hours duty for all of our engineers. The app is not web-enabled and we cannot make any changes to it. It does write a simple text file and I have created an app that translates that to an ICS file. My goal is to have that appear on my calendar on my Android phone. Here is the path I am working on: DutyApp -- TextFile -- ICSFile -- Outlook(exchange) -- Android (via exchange sync) My problems: If I place the ICS file on our FILE server and then in Outlook if I go to the option CalendarOpen CalendarFrom Internet it shows up in Outlook and looks pretty good. After a couple minutes it shows up on my Android phone as well. If I change the original ICS file those changes never display in Outlook and never sync to my Android phone. This seems to be a one shot deal almost like an import. Now if I place the ICS file on our WEB server and then in Outlook if I go to the option CalendarOpen CalendarFrom Internet and use webcal:\ as the address, it shows up in Outlook and also looks pretty good. Any changes I make to the original ICS file display in Outlook. However the entire calendar never shows up in Android. This calendar is a subscription and it seems, although am not sure, that Android doesn't display Exchange subscription calendars. Yes I know it works with Gmail subscription calendars but this is Exchange. So my question is what other options are there? We are behind a firewall so cant link the ICS file to a Gmail account. I can't put the ICS file anywhere else other than our file or web server.

• Force Installing a Radeon HD 2100 on Windows 8

  I'm trying force installing a Radeon HD 2100 on Windows 8. I've found that link from AMD with the drivers for Windows7: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/legacy/Pages/legacy-radeonaiw-vista64.aspx I know too that AMD will stop support Radeon HD 400 and older: http://www.techspot.com/news/48321-amd-drops-windows-8-support-for-radeon-hd-4000-and-older.html Now, let's go to the problem. If I try install the 12.6 driver, Windows will stick with the "basic display adapter", and this is bad for 3d games like Minecraft, that runs really slow now compared with the previous Windows7 installation. Forcing install the catalyst driver can help to fix it. So, I follow that steps: Extract the Catalist Driver (C:\AMD\Support\12-6-legacy_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_whql) Right click the "basic display adapter" on device manager, and "update driver" Search on PC I will choose the driver "With Disk" "C:\AMD\Support\12-6-legacy_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_whql\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF" There is a big list of drivers and the nearest driver to HD 2100 is "Radeon HD 2350 Series" My questions: Why isn't "Radeon HD 2100 Series" listed? (or Where is it listed?) In theory it must be listed" The first link above show that "This article applies to the following configuration(s):" (...) • Duplicate monitor on highest resolution in Windows 7

  I have a monitor with a native resolution of 2560x1440, connected through display port. I also have an AV Receiver connected to the video card via HDMI, to have surround sound in games. All using Radeon HD 5670 (will upgrade soon to HD 7850). The problem is that my computer detects the receiver as a separate monitor, with the highest available resolution of 1920x1080. I have 3 options: Disconnect the second display. But then the sound (digital audio output through video card) also disappears. Duplicate displays. But then my primary monitor resolution is reduced to a maximum of just 1920x1080, that being the maximum of the second monitor. Extend desktop. This is the solution I picked so far, it being the least evil. The problems I face in this situations are 2: I have a blank part of the desktop where I sometimes lose my mouse pointer, so I made the extension small, 640x480, and placed it in a corner; when I turn off the main display, all windows resize to 640x480. In Kubuntu I had the option to duplicate the displays, while keeping the higher resolution. Which was great. I tried overriding using the Win7 netbook hack, but it's not available on non-netbooks. Is there a similar solution for this problem in Windows 7?

  Hi all, I hope that I'm not the only one and I can get a answer from someone with more experience than me, so I can think cleaner and I don't get depressed with this developer's life. I'm working as developer for a small company three years now. In that three years I'm working in the same project and sincerely, I think this project could be used as a CASE STUDY because it has all the situations that cannot happen in a project and that makes a project fails. To begin with, and I believe you've already noticed, the project has 3 years already (develoment only) and is still unfinished, because in every meeting there is a "new priority" ,or a "new problem" to be solve or a "new feature" to be add. So, first problem is no target set. How can you know when something is finished if you don't know what you want? I understand Management, because they see an oportunity and try to get that, but I don't understand how can they not see (or hear us) that they'll lose all they already have and what they'll eventually get. Second, there is no team group. My team consists of three people, a Senior Developer, a DBA and, finally, I for all the work (support, testing, new features, bug fixing, meeting, projet management of clients, etc) aka Junior Developer. The first (senior developer), does not perform any tests on his changes, so, most of the time, his changes give us problems (us = me, since I'm the one who will fix it). The second (DBA) is an uncompromising person and you can not talk to him, believe me, I tried! In his view, everything he does is fantastic... even if it is the most complicated to make it... And he does everything he wants, even if we need that only for 5 months later and would help some extra-hand to do the things we have to do for now. As you can see, there is very hard to work with no help... Third, there is no testings. Every... I repeat, Every release of the project, the customers wants to kill us, because there is a lot of bugs. Management? They say that they want tests before the release. Us? We say the same. Time? No time. Management? There is always some time to open the application and click in some buttons. Us? Try to explain that it is not so simple. Management doesn't care... end of story. Actually, must of the bugs could be avoid with a rigorous work... Some people just want to do the show to the Management. "Did you ask for this? Cool, it's done. Bugs? The Do-all-the-work guy will solve." Unfortunally for me, sometimes the Do-all-the-work also has to finish it. And to makes this all better, I'm the person who will listen the complaints from the customers. Cool, huh? I know, everyone makes mistakes. But there is mistakes and mistakes... To complete, in the Management view, "the problem is the lack of an individual project management", because we cannot do all the stuff they ask, even if there is no PM for the project itself. And ask us to work overtime without any reward... I do say all this stuff to the management and others members, but by telling this, the I'm the bad guy, the guy who is complain when everything is going well... but we need to work overtime... sigh What can I do to make it works? • Exception seem in an eclipse GMF application when file not present in workspace

  I am developing a GMF application . In this situation , I start my workspace and load a file in the workspace . Then I close the workspace and then delete the file from the workspace . After that, I try to restart my application and restore the workspace . Of course , now since the file does not exist , there are going to be exceptions . I tried a lot to handle these exceptions but if I try to get rid of one exception , then another pops up . Does anyone know what methods do I have to override in order to handle this situation correctly .
