How to select a row(e.g.frist row in datagrid) and set its background color to be e.g. red in C#?

WPF textbox derived control override drag&drop OnPreviewDrop (C sharp)

Hi, I have been working on my custom control derived from the TextBox and I have encountered a problem I can not solve right now. Brief description of the problem: my textbox contains plain text which contains tags which I want to keep consistent - so far I have overriden text selection so they can be selected only as a whole tag etc. Right now I have moved to processing of drag&drop. If any text is dropped on the textfield and it is dropped on the tag, I want the insertion to be moved before or after the tag. The actual problem is with setting of the e.Handled=true. If I set it to true, it almost works - the text is inserted via my routine, but it is not removed from the source. If I set it to false, after executing my method the original textbox's insertion method is run. Is there any way to alter event routing? Or am I approaching this wrong from the start? DallasXAML.com – A New User Group for Silverlight, WPF, XBAP, etc.

http://DallasXAML.com I’ve devoted much of last month to starting the DallasXAML User Group. I finally got back into user group management after 2 years away from leading the Dallas C# SIG. Now I’m having fun getting a Silverlight/WPF user group going strong for the Dallas / Ft. Worth community. Our first meeting was March 3rd at the Improving Enterprises offices in North Dallas. We had about 25 to 35 attendees in the first meeting and it went well. We covered the most important topic that everyone should understand well – data binding. So I chose the XAML user group so we can get together for a common group improvement in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area and learn cross-technology information that we can use now. It is not a lecture hall. The great thing is that we’ll provide hands-on experience with most every meeting. The goal is to get the experience that we can use the next work day. I unfortunately broke that rule by speaking all through the first meeting, but next month is part two with more hands-on data binding. The differentiation is this group concentrates on XAML, not Silverlight or Windows Client alone. What we learn in one area, we gain for all areas. That includes the Silverlight for Windows Phone 7 coming later this year. Next year it may be Windows Phone 8, 9, or whatever. I started developing WPF seriously almost a year ago. I experienced the painful learning curve. Anyone who reports that there isn’t a big learning curve either thinks in XAML before it was developed, is on the Silverlight or WPF development team, or has already conquered the learning and forgot the pain. So I wanted to share the pain or make it easier for others – same thing. I have found that the more I learn and use good disciplined techniques, the more interesting and rewarding development is again. A few months ago, I was sitting in the iPhone development session at the Dallas C# SIG. After the meeting, the audience was polled for future topics. After a few suggestions, Silverlight got the big hands up. That makes sense because it’s still the hot topic for many Microsoft developers. So I surfed around and found that there aren’t enough user groups to help in this area. I polled a few local group leaders and did the work to start the group. This week I got a telerik controls licence and improved the site with some great controls, namely the RadHtmlPlaceholder control. It provides a Silverlight control to show HTML in an IFrame-like area. On DallasXAML.com, the newsletters and resource pages display in HTML because Silverlight just isn’t there yet. I’m looking forward to a Silverlight XPS viewer with flow documents. There are some good commercial version available, but this is a non-profit group. The DallasXAML.com site points to many other resources such as podcasts and webcasts. I would rather give them the credit than try to out-do them. Chrome and Firefox not able to find some sites after Ubuntu's recent update?

Loading of revision3.com in Chrome stops and status saying "waiting for static.inplay.tubemogul.com" grooveshark.com in Chrome never loads But wikipedia.org, google.com works just normal same behavior in Firefox too. I use wired DSL connection in Ubuntu 12.04. I guess this started happening after I upgraded the Chrome browser or Flash plugin few days ago from Ubuntu updates through update-manager. Thanks EDIT: Everything works normal in my WinXP. Problem is only in Ubuntu 12.04. In this tutorial, we are going to configure the application/user settings in a WPF application the easy way. Most example that I’ve seen on the net involve the ConfigurationManager class and involve creating your own XML file from scratch. I am going to show you a easier way to do it. (in my humble opinion) First, the definitions: User Setting – is designed to be something specific to the user. For example, one user may have a requirement to see certain stocks, news articles or local weather. This can be set at run-time. What Triggers a syncronization between Exchange 2007 Mail Store and Edge Servers?

We are using Exchange 2007 for our mail. In our configuration, we need to add an alias to each users mailbox. When we do, the Edge server, another Exchange 2007 box, will reject the alias with a User Unknown error until the next morning. I seem to recall that in Exchange 2003, you could force an update from the Management console, but I can not find a way in 2007. It is obvious that a sync job is scheduled to run each night, but I cannot find it.

Remote Desktop triggers a loud Beep on local machine - how to shut it up?

When I remote desktop into a server, I get a loud beep coming out of my local machine whenever certain messageboxes pop up. (An example is to search for something in the Event Log - when the search finds no results, I get a message box accompanied by a loud beep) Annoyingly, the beep still happens even if I have sound turned off locally or the volume right down - it seems to be hooking in to some low level OS-beep mechanism. I am trying to write a quote generator. For each product, there are a set of options. I want to dynamically add a drop down list for each option, and then have their SelectedIndexChanged events all wired up to update the quote cost. I am not having any trouble adding the DropDownList controls to my UpdatePanel, but I can't seem to wire up the events. After the page loads, the drop downs are there, with their data, but changing them does not call the SelectedIndexChanged event handler, nor does the QuoteUpdatePanel update. buttons inside scrollviewer problem

Basically, there are like twenty buttons in a wrap panel, which is inside a scrollviewer. The problem is that when I want to scroll the list, the click event fires the triggers. Silverlight Death Trolls Dancing on XAML’s Grave

I’m starting to see a whole bunch of tweets and blog posts on how Silverlight/WPF is dead, or how the XAML team has been disbanded at Microsoft, or how someone predicted Silverlight would die, blah blah blah. They all have a similar ring to it though: “Told ya so!” “They were stupid ideas anyway!” “Serves Microsoft right, boy are they dumb!” Let me tell you something, all those that are gleefully raving about Silverlight/WPF’s demise are nothing more than death trolls. Let’s assume that everything out there is true. Microsoft is obviously moving towards HTML 5 in a huge way (TechCrunch pointed out that SkyDrive has replaced its Silverlight based version with an HTML 5 one), and not just on the web as we’ve seen with recent announcements about how HTML 5 apps will be natively supported on Windows 8. WPF never caught on in the marketplace, regardless of its superior technology offering to Winforms. And Silverlight…well, it gave Flash a good run for its money, but plug-in based web applications are becoming passé in light of HTML 5. (It’s interesting that at a developer conference I put on just a few weeks ago, only 1 out of 60+ sessions included Silverlight. 5 focussed on HTML 5.) So what does this *death* of Silverlight/WPF/XAML mean then in the grand scheme of things (again, assuming that they truly *are* dying/dead)? Well, nothing really…at least nothing bad. Silverlight has given us some fantastic applications and experiences (Vancouver Olympics anyone?), and WP7 couldn’t have launched without Silverlight as its development platform. And WPF, although it had putrid adoption, has had some great success stories. A Canadian company that I talked to recently showed me how they re-wrote their point-of-sale application entirely in WPF, and the product is a huge success providing features their competitors aren’t. Arguably (and I say that only because I know I’m going to get WTF comments for this), VS.NET 2010 is a great example of what a WPF app can provide over previous C++ based applications. Technologies evolve. In a decade we’ve had 5 versions of the .NET framework, seen languages like J# come and go, seen F# appear, see communications layers change with WCF, seen EF go through multiple evolutions and traditional ADO.NET Datasets go extinct (from actual use anyway), and ASP.NET Webforms be replaced with ASP.NET MVC as a preferred web platform. Is Silverlight and WPF done? Maybe…probably?…thing is, it doesn’t really affect me personally in any way, or you…so why would we care if its gets replaced with something better and more robust that we can build better solutions with? Just remember the golden rule: don’t feed the trolls.

View / ViewModel - what is the sense (in a WPF control)?

Not as funny as it sounds. Normally the View / ViewModel should decouple the presentation from the business logic. Good. Now, a Control in WPF is basically invisible unless made different (with the exceptions of UserControl and Window that have XAML directly attached). The Style is putting in the "visual presentation" - which basically means a Control does not need a view mechanism as WPF already has one? In addition. the ViewModel is actually part of the Control, or? Just fighting with that stuff. I know in ASP.NET, WinForms the separation makes a lot of sense - but there, basically, controls HAVE an intrinsic look. In WPF, I have some where it makes sense (derived from UserControl), but for the majority of the controls I write, the View & ViewModel look like pretty much totally superflous thanks to the already presenting view mechanism.

For example 20% would be displayed as "20" but i still want to use the standard formatting for percentages (so i get the benefit of string formatter to multiply it by 100 for me) in other words, how do i get string.Format("0.00%", 0.2) to output "20" but not "20%"? Is it possible to globally define PercentSymbol as empty string for the entire application? In particular i am using ContentStringFormat in my WPF application to format the numbers and percentages. Maybe i can do it directly in WPF.

Unable to install Konstruktor program

I've recently switched to Linux, having a good knowledge of how it works before switching, since I've had experience working with Ubuntu-based servers for several months. I've been trying to install a LEGO CAD program that I have found based on an open source library. Information on that is here. The program I'm looking at is called Konstruktor, and for the most part it should be working. One dependency however does not seem to be able to install. The missing dependency is "kdelibs5", which I know what it is and what it's for, but can't get it to install. Suspend not working after kernel update on an HP Envy14 1050

I just update ubuntu 12.04 to the kernel 3.2.0-30 and together with it a lot of packeges in the system. I am running it on an HP Envy14 1050. When I first made a fresh install of the clean ubuntu 12.04 I had the problem that when restoring from suspend the screen was black, although some backlight was there. I could fix it following this https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/989674/comments/20. Now, after the update the black screen after suspend has reappeared but with no backlight at all and the led in the caps lock key blinking. The laptop is using a ATI radeon 5600 with the privative drivers. During the update process there was an error with depmod . You can see the /var/log/dist-upgrade/apt-term.log file at the end. UPDATE: suspend is not working at all. The problem is not when restoring from suspend, but when I try to suspend the system it gets blocked and the fan running. Only option is to press power button. Having read other posts, I believe that this may be less about samba than about update system. Below is the log file of the failed installation of Samba. I have been trying without success to install/outstall samba so that I could install anything else ... I cannot either install or remove samba using either update-manager or apt-get (nor indeed Software Centre). One of the errors that I have had to correct is the presence after "removal" (failed) of /usr/share/system-config-samba directory which finally allowed itself to be deleted. That, however was then ... I have U12.04LTS. running on release 63 because I allowed the upgrade to 64 this morning which fell over - no output to monitor - obviously even less support for my graphic chip than I am suffering already (see other posts in this forum). According to my interpretation of the dpkg returned errors there may be some problem with the package files, but if this is the case then it is on servers 'main', 'nantes uni fr' and 'best fr' at the very least if not everywhere. The suggestions offered at Package operation failed and elsewhere have not worked for me. This linked post suggests that a similar error is present in other packages, or that the error is in the 'update system' I have tried ... sudo apt-get remove samba ... autoremove ... install samba ... clean ... update -f all of the above In update-manager I have tried the "reload packages list" which fails to terminate because of the error. I have tried to install and remove samba from the software centre ... :( I am at a loss ... I need help, please! Firstly to recover my apt-get/update-manager/Software Centre so that I can at least carry on with my continuing installation - up to communicating with home network hence need for samba - which brings me to my second requirement ... samba. PS is the issue about "MaxReports" associated or apart? UPDATE! Being heartily sick of restarting FF every 5 seconds I thought I'd try again with Chromium ... and got the same errors from dpkg about corrupt compressed package - coincidence?
