  • Entity Framework many-to-many using VB.Net Lambda

    - by bgs264
Hello, I'm a newbie to StackOverflow so please be kind ;) I'm using Entity Framework in Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 (.NET framework 4.0 Beta 2). I have created an entity framework .edmx model from my database and I have a handful of many-to-many relationships. A trivial example of my database schema is Roles (ID, Name, Active) Members (ID, DateOfBirth, DateCreated) RoleMembership(RoleID, MemberID) I am now writing the custom role provider (Inheriting System.Configuration.Provider.RoleProvider) and have come to write the implementation of IsUserInRole(username, roleName). The LINQ-to-Entity queries which I wrote, when SQL-Profiled, all produced CROSS JOIN statements when what I want is for them to INNER JOIN. Dim query = From m In dc.Members From r In dc.Roles Where m.ID = 100 And r.Name = "Member" Select m My problem is almost exactly described here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/553918/entity-framework-and-many-to-many-queries-unusable I'm sure that the solution presented there works well, but whilst I studied Java at uni and I can mostly understand C# I cannot understand this Lambda syntax provided and I need to get a similar example in VB. I've looked around the web for the best part of half a day but I'm not closer to my answer. So please can somebody advise how, in VB, I can construct a LINQ statement which would do this equivalent in SQL: SELECT rm.RoleID FROM RoleMembership rm INNER JOIN Roles r ON r.ID = rm.RoleID INNER JOIN Members m ON m.ID = rm.MemberID WHERE r.Name = 'Member' AND m.ID = 101 I would use this query to see if Member 101 is in Role 3. (I appreciate I probably don't need the join to the Members table in SQL but I imagine in LINQ I'd need to bring in the Member object?) UPDATE: I'm a bit closer by using multiple methods: Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Dim count As Integer Using dc As New CBLModel.CBLEntities Dim persons = dc.Members.Where(AddressOf myTest) count = persons.Count End Using System.Diagnostics.Debugger.Break() End Sub Function myTest(ByVal m As Member) As Boolean Return m.ID = "100" AndAlso m.Roles.Select(AddressOf myRoleTest).Count > 0 End Function Function myRoleTest(ByVal r As Role) As Boolean Return r.Name = "Member" End Function SQL Profiler shows this: SQL:BatchStarting SELECT [Extent1].[ID] AS [ID], ... (all columns from Members snipped for brevity) ... FROM [dbo].[Members] AS [Extent1] RPC:Completed exec sp_executesql N'SELECT [Extent2].[ID] AS [ID], [Extent2].[Name] AS [Name], [Extent2].[Active] AS [Active] FROM [dbo].[RoleMembership] AS [Extent1] INNER JOIN [dbo].[Roles] AS [Extent2] ON [Extent1].[RoleID] = [Extent2].[ID] WHERE [Extent1].[MemberID] = @EntityKeyValue1',N'@EntityKeyValue1 int',@EntityKeyValue1=100 SQL:BatchCompleted SELECT [Extent1].[ID] AS [ID], ... (all columns from Members snipped for brevity) ... FROM [dbo].[Members] AS [Extent1] I'm not certain why it is using sp_execsql for the inner join statement and why it's still running a select to select ALL members though. Thanks. UPDATE 2 I've written it by turning the above "multiple methods" into lambda expressions then all into one query, like this: Dim allIDs As String = String.Empty Using dc As New CBLModel.CBLEntities For Each retM In dc.Members.Where(Function(m As Member) m.ID = 100 AndAlso m.Roles.Select(Function(r As Role) r.Name = "Doctor").Count > 0) allIDs &= retM.ID.ToString & ";" Next End Using But it doesn't seem to work: "Doctor" is not a role that exists, I just put it in there for testing purposes, yet "allIDs" still gets set to "100;" The SQL in SQL Profiler this time looks like this: SELECT [Project1].* FROM ( SELECT [Extent1].*, (SELECT COUNT(1) AS [A1] FROM [dbo].[RoleMembership] AS [Extent2] WHERE [Extent1].[ID] = [Extent2].[MemberID]) AS [C1] FROM [dbo].[Members] AS [Extent1] ) AS [Project1] WHERE (100 = [Project1].[ID]) AND ([Project1].[C1] > 0) For brevity I turned the list of all the columns from the Members table into * As you can see it's just ignoring the "Role" query... :/

  • rfacebook and facebook image uploading api

    - by msarvar
I'm using rfacebook gem to interact with facebook connect. And I'm having a problem with uploading images. As facebook api says, the data should be transferred in a hash like json object. So I'm making an hash publish_values = { :uid => @post.profile.channel_uid, :message => @post.content, :auto_publish => true, } unless @post.message.skip_link_info publish_values[:attachment] = {} publish_values[:attachment][:name] = @post.message.link_title unless @post.message.link_title.blank? publish_values[:attachment][:caption] = @post.message.link_title unless @post.message.link_title.blank? publish_values[:attachment][:description] = @post.message.link_description unless @post.message.link_description.blank? unless @post.message.no_thumbnail || @post.message.link_image_url.blank? publish_values[:attachment][:media] = [{ :type => 'image', :src => @post.message.link_image_url, :href => @post.short_uri }] end end But It's not uploading any image to the facebook, the xml respons says "properties must be a dictionary". So I'm stuck in here for a couple days It doesn't make any sene

  • Why isn't jQuery automatically appending the JSONP callback?

    - by Aseem Kishore
The $.getJSON() documentation states: If the specified URL is on a remote server, the request is treated as JSONP instead. See the discussion of the jsonp data type in $.ajax() for more details. The $.ajax() documentation for the jsonp data type states (emphasis mine): Loads in a JSON block using JSONP. Will add an extra "?callback=?" to the end of your URL to specify the callback. So it seems that if I call $.getJSON() with a cross-domain URL, the extra "callback=?" parameter should automatically get added. (Other parts of the documentation support this interpretation.) However, I'm not seeing that behavior. If I don't add the "callback=?" explicitly, jQuery incorrectly makes an XMLHttpRequest (which returns null data since I can't read the response cross-domain). If I do add it explicitly, jQuery correctly makes a <script> request. Here's an example: var URL = "http://www.geonames.org/postalCodeLookupJSON" + "?postalcode=10504&country=US"; function alertResponse(data, status) { alert("data: " + data + ", status: " + status); } $.getJSON(URL, alertResponse); // alerts "data: null, status: success" $.getJSON(URL + "&callback=?", alertResponse); // alerts "data: [object Object], status: undefined" So what's going on? Am I misunderstanding the documentation or forgetting something? It goes without saying that this isn't a huge deal, but I'm creating a web API and I purposely set the callback parameter to "callback" in the hopes of tailoring it nicely to jQuery usage. Thanks!

  • Using jquery pagination plugin

    - by eddy
Hi. I want to use this plugin, but I don't know if it'll meet all of my requirements. I know I have to use JSON to fetch the data from the server and then use it at the client side, is that right?. For now, that's fine, because I only have very few records, but when I have thousands of ; will it be convenient to bring all the data at once? What I would like to know is : Is there any way to query the database every time I press the number of an specific page? I ask this cause I don't think is a good idea to load all the data in one go, is it? I used to pass the id of the record I was going to edit like this : <td align="center"> <c:url value="edititem.htm" var="url"> <c:param name="id" value="${item.id}"/> </c:url> <a href="<c:out value="${url}"/>"><img src="images/edit.png" width="14" height="14" alt="edit"/></a> </td> but now I don't know not how to do it. I really hope you can help me out. Thanks in advance.

  • How do you write Valid XHTML 1.0 Strict code when you are using javascript to fill an element that r

    - by Tim Visher
I'm running my site through the W3C's validator trying to get it to validate as XHTML 1.0 Strict and I've gotten down to a particularly sticky (at least in my experience) validation error. I'm including certain badges from various services in the site that provide their own API and code for inclusion on an external site. These badges use javascript (for the most part) to fill an element that you insert in the markup which requires a child. This means that in the end, perfectly valid markup is generated, but to the validator, all it sees is an incomplete parent-child tag which it then throws an error on. As a caveat, I understand that I could complain to the services that their badges don't validate. Sans this, I assume that someone has validated their code while including badges like this, and that's what I'm interested in. Answers such as, 'Complain to Flickr about their badge' aren't going to help me much. An additional caveat: I would prefer that as much as possible the markup remains semantic. I.E. Adding an empty li tag or tr-td pair to make it validate would be an undesirable solution, even though it may be necessary. If that's the only way it can be made to validate, oh well, but please lean answers towards semantic markup. As an example: <div id="twitter_div"> <h2><a href="http://twitter.com/stopsineman">@Twitter</a></h2> <ul id="twitter_update_list"> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://twitter.com/javascripts/blogger.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/stopsineman.json?callback=twitterCallback2&amp;count=1"></script> </ul> </div> Notice the ul tags wrapping the javascript. This eventually gets filled in with lis via the script, but to the validator it only sees the unpopulated ul. Thanks in advance!

  • C# struct and NuSOAP(php)

    - by opx
Hello Im trying to build a client in c# that talks with some remote (php)server with SOAP using the NuSOAP library. Here im using a struct/object that will containt the user info of some user: public struct UserProfile { public string username; public string password; public string email; public string site; public string signature; public int age; public int points; And this is the PHP Code: server->wsdl->addComplexType( 'UserProfile', 'complexType', 'struct', 'all', '', array( 'username' => array('name' => 'username', 'type' => 'xsd:string'), 'password' => array('name' => 'password', 'type' => 'xsd:string'), 'email' => array('name' => 'email', 'type' => 'xsd:string'), 'site' => array('name' => 'site', 'type' => 'xsd:string'), 'signature' => array('name' => 'signature', 'type' => 'xsd:string'), 'age' => array('name' => 'age', 'type' => 'xsd:int'), 'points' => array('name' => 'username', 'type' => 'xsd:int'), ) ); $server->wsdl->addComplexType( 'UserProfileArray', 'complexType', 'array', '', 'SOAP-ENC:Array', array(), array(array('ref' => 'SOAP-ENC:arrayType', 'wsdl:arrayType' => 'tns:UserProfile[]')), 'tns:UserProfile' ); $server->register("getUserProfile", array(), array('return' => 'tns:UserProfileArray'), $namespace, false, 'rpc', false, 'Get the user profile object' ); function getUserProfile(){ $profile['username'] = "user"; $profile['password'] = "pass"; $profile['email'] = "usern@ame"; $profile['site'] = "u.com"; $profile['signature'] = "usucsdckme"; $profile['age'] = 111; $profile['points'] = time() / 2444; return $profile; } Now I already have a working login function, and I want to get the info about the logged in user but I dont know howto obtain these. This is what im using to get the userinfo: string user = txtUser.Text; string pass = txtPass.Text; SimpleService.SimpleService service = new SimpleService.SimpleService(); if(service.login(user, pass)){ //logged in } SoapApp.SimpleService.UserProfile[] user = service.getUserProfile(); // THIS LINE GIVES ME AN EXCEPTION MessageBox.Show(user[0].username + "--" + user[0].points); The getUserProfile() function produces an error: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException was unhandled Message="unable to serialize result" Source="System.Web.Services" or I get something like 'cant parse xml' error. The article I used for this was from: http://www.sanity-free.org/125/php_webservices_and_csharp_dotnet_soap_clients.html The difference on what they are doing and what I try to do is that I only want to get one object returned instead of multiple 'MySoapObjects'. I hope someone is familiar with this and could help me, thanks in advance! Regards, opx

  • How can I encrypt CoreData contents on an iPhone

    - by James A. Rosen
I have some information I'd like to store statically encrypted on an iPhone application. I'm new to iPhone development, some I'm not terribly familiar with CoreData and how it integrates with the views. I have the data as JSON, though I can easily put it into a SQLITE3 database or any other backing data format. I'll take whatever is easiest (a) to encrypt and (b) to integrate with the iPhone view layer. The user will need to enter the password to decrypt the data each time the app is launched. The purpose of the encryption is to keep the data from being accessible if the user loses the phone. For speed reasons, I would prefer to encrypt and decrypt the entire file at once rather than encrypting each individual field in each row of the database. Note: this isn't the same idea as Question 929744, in which the purpose is to keep the user from messing with or seeing the data. The data should be perfectly transparent when in use. Also note: I'm willing to use SQLCipher to store the data, but would prefer to use things that already exist on the iPhone/CoreData framework rather than go through the lengthy build/integration process involved.

  • How to upload images from iPhone app developed using Titanium

    - by Karthik.K
    Hi, I finally landed up in developing an iPhone app using Titanium Mobile. Now the problem I face is, Im able to run the app, and the app also sends the image to the server. But Im not able to see the file that got uploaded to the server. I have pasted the iPhone app's code to send image to the server and also, the PHP file that would receive the file from the app. var win = Titanium.UI.currentWindow; var ind=Titanium.UI.createProgressBar({ width:200, height:50, min:0, max:1, value:0, style:Titanium.UI.iPhone.ProgressBarStyle.PLAIN, top:10, message:'Uploading Image', font:{fontSize:12, fontWeight:'bold'}, color:'#888' }); win.add(ind); ind.show(); Titanium.Media.openPhotoGallery({ success:function(event) { Ti.API.info("success! event: " + JSON.stringify(event)); var image = event.media; var xhr = Titanium.Network.createHTTPClient(); xhr.onerror = function(e) { Ti.API.info('IN ERROR ' + e.error); }; xhr.onload = function() { Ti.API.info('IN ONLOAD ' + this.status + ' readyState ' + this.readyState); }; xhr.onsendstream = function(e) { ind.value = e.progress ; Ti.API.info('ONSENDSTREAM - PROGRESS: ' + e.progress+' '+this.status+' '+this.readyState); }; // open the client xhr.open('POST','http://www.myserver.com/tmp/upload2.php'); xhr.setRequestHeader("Connection", "close"); // send the data xhr.send({media:image}); }, cancel:function() { }, error:function(error) { }, allowImageEditing:true }); And here is the PHP code on the server: http://www.pastie.org/891050 I'm not sure where I'm going wrong. Please help me out in this issue. Would love to provide if you need some more information.

  • Asp.net MVC jQuery Ajax calls to JsonResult return no data

    - by Maslow
I have this script loaded on a page: (function() { window.alert('bookmarklet started'); function AjaxSuccess(data, textStatus, xmlHttpRequest) { if (typeof (data) == 'undefined') { return alert('Data is undefined'); } alert('ajax success' + (data || ': no data')); } function AjaxError(xmlHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) { alert('ajax failure:' + textStatus); } /*imaginarydevelopment.com/Sfc*/ var destination = { url: 'http://localhost:3041/Bookmarklet/SaveHtml', type: 'POST', success: AjaxSuccess, error: AjaxError, dataType: 'text',contentType: 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded' }; if (typeof (jQuery) == 'undefined') { return alert('jQuery not defined'); } if (typeof ($jq) == 'undefined') { if (typeof ($) != 'undefined') { $jq = $; } else { return alert('$jq->jquerify not defined'); } } if ($jq('body').length <= 0) { return alert('Could not query body length'); } if ($jq('head title:contains(BookmarkletTest)').length > 0) { alert('doing test'); destination.data = { data: 'BookmarkletTestAjax' }; $jq.ajax(destination); return; } })(); when it is run locally in VS2008's cassini the ajax success shows the returned string from Asp.net MVC, when it is run remotely the ajax success data is null. Here's the controller method that is firing both locally and when run remotely: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post | HttpVerbs.Get)] public string SaveHtml(string data) { var path = getPath(Server.MapPath); System.IO.File.WriteAllText(path,data); Console.WriteLine("SaveHtml called"); Debug.WriteLine("SaveHtml called"); //return Json(new { result = "SaveHtml Success" }); return "SaveHtml Success"; } Once i have it working I was going to remove the GET, but currently accessing the SaveHtml method directly from the webbrowser produces the expected results when testing. So there's something wrong in my javascript I believe, because when I step through there with chrome's developer tools, I see the data is null, and the xmlHttpRequest doesn't appear to have the expected result in it anywhere either. I'm loading jquery via http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.min.js

  • how to show a large jpg image to the right in jqGrid's edit form ?

    - by cLee
    Is it possible to show a large (i.e. bigger than a thumbnail) jpeg image in the right-hand side of jqGrid's edit form ? Users want to look at a photo while entering data into fields ... they are describing things in the photo. I'm sure all things are possible with jQuery, but I don't know where to begin. thanks ... html: function afterSubmit(r, data, action) { // if session timeout returned: if (r.responseText == "logout") { window.location = '../scripts/logout.php'; } // if an error message is returned: if (r.responseText != "") { $('#submit_errors').html('Alert:'+r.responseText+''); // show div with error message $('#submit_errors').slideDown(); // hide error div after 10 seconds window.setTimeout(function() { $('#submit_errors').slideUp(); }, 10000); return false; // don't remove this! } return true; // don't remove this! } var lastsel; jQuery(document).ready(function(){ var mygrid = jQuery("#mobile_incidents").jqGrid({ url:'list.php?q=e', editurl:'edit.php', datatype: "json", // note: all column names are required even though some columns are hidden colNames:['Rec#','Date','Line','Photo'], colModel:[{ name:'id', index:'id', editable:true, editoptions: {readonly:'readonly'} }, { name:'mobile_discoveryDate', index:'mobile_discoveryDate', sortable:false, editable:true, edittype:'text', formatter:'date', formatoptions:{ srcformat:'Y/m/d', newformat:'m/d/Y' }, editoptions:{ size:12, maxlength:10, dataInit: function(element) { $(element).blur(); $(element).datepicker({dateFormat:'mm/dd/yyyy'}) } } }, { name:'mobile_lineName', index:'mobile_lineName', editable:true, sortable:false}, { name:'mobile_photo_name', index:'mobile_photo_name', editable:false, sortable:false} ], pager: '#mobile_incidents_pager', altRows: false, rowNum:10, rowList:[10,20], imgpath: '../include/images/jqgrid', viewrecords: true, emptyrecords:'No submissions found!', height: 260, sortname: 'id', sortorder: 'desc', gridview: true, scrollrows: true, autowidth: true, rownumbers: false, multiselect: false, subGrid:false, caption: '' }) .navGrid('#mobile_incidents_pager', // params: {add:false, edit:true, del:false, search:false, view:false, refresh:true, alertcap:' to edit:', alerttext:' . . . click on a row to highlight' }, // edit params: {top:50, left:5, editCaption: 'Edit Submission', bSubmit: 'Approve/Save', closeAfterEdit:true, afterSubmit:function(r,data){return afterSubmit(r,data,'edit');} }, {}, // add params {}, // delete params // search params: {multipleSearch: false}, // view params: {top: 150, left: 5, caption: 'View Mobile Rail Submission'} ); });

  • Twitter integration and iOS5: semantic and parsing issues

  • Sending data through POST request from a node.js server to a node.js server

    - by Masiar
I'm trying to send data through a POST request from a node.js server to another node.js server. What I do in the "client" node.js is the following: var options = { host: 'my.url', port: 80, path: '/login', method: 'POST' }; var req = http.request(options, function(res){ console.log('status: ' + res.statusCode); console.log('headers: ' + JSON.stringify(res.headers)); res.setEncoding('utf8'); res.on('data', function(chunk){ console.log("body: " + chunk); }); }); req.on('error', function(e) { console.log('problem with request: ' + e.message); }); // write data to request body req.write('data\n'); req.write('data\n'); req.end(); This chunk is taken more or less from the node.js website so it should be correct. The only thing I don't see is how to include username and password in the options variable to actually login. This is how I deal with the data in the server node.js (I use express): app.post('/login', function(req, res){ var user = {}; user.username = req.body.username; user.password = req.body.password; ... }); How can I add those username and password fields to the options variable to have it logged in? Thanks

  • How to control Dojo FilteringSelect default rendering!?

    - by Nick
Hi, I have a dojo dijit.filering.select that populates with values from a dojo.data.ItemFileReadStore. Everything is working fine except I would like the filtering select to automatically get populated with the first value in the itemFileReadStore. Currently it is loading them as a list of options that are revealed when you click the down arrow, as per spec. I would instead like filteringSelect to be loaded with the first value. How do I do this? For some reason I cant figure it out. Any help would be hugely appreciated! • How can I debug why this click handler never fires?

    - by tixrus
I am going to be excrutiatingly detailed here. I am using Firefox 3.6.3 on Max OSX with Firebug 1.5.3. I have two versions of a project, one which works and one with a bug. One I downloaded and one I typed by hand. Take a guess which one doesn't work. They should be the same except that mine uses a newer version of jQuery and the files are named differently. jQuery version is not the issue. I made mine use the older jquery and I made the working one use the newer jquery. Either way, mine still broke and the downloaded one still works. I've busted my eyes trying to see how these projects are different. The only thing I don't want to do is copy the working code to the busted code because I need to be able to figure this stuff out when it is my own unique code causing similar issues. There are no errors that I can see in Firebug in my code, in fact, 2/3 of it works just fine. just the second button does nothing. So I wanted to step through. These are always eyeball errors and I really suck at seeing them. I put it on a public server. http://colleenweb.com/jqtests/ex71.html And I want to debug ex71.js If you firebug the working one and set a break point at line 13 in ex71.js the variable json has the expected values when you click on the second button. But If you firebug this one, it never gets there. I've been over the html and all the names of everything seem to match up. I also wonder why the buttons aren't right justified but that's a css thing. Please tell me what I'm missing, and more importantly, what tool/technique I could use to find these types of bugs.

  • Getting error detail from WCF REST

    - by Keith
I have a REST service consumed by a .Net WCF client. When an error is encountered the REST service returns an HTTP 400 Bad Request with the response body containing JSON serialised details. If I execute the request using Fiddler, Javascript or directly from C# I can easily access the response body when an error occurs. However, I'm using a WCF ChannelFactory with 6 quite complex interfaces. The exception thrown by this proxy is always a ProtocolException, with no useful details. Is there any way to get the response body when I get this error? Update I realise that there are a load of different ways to do this using .Net and that there are other ways to get the error response. They're useful to know but don't answer this question. The REST services we're using will change and when they do the complex interfaces get updated. Using the ChannelFactory with the new interfaces means that we'll get compile time (rather than run time) exceptions and make these a lot easier to maintain and update the code. Is there any way to get the response body for an error HTTP status when using WCF Channels?

  • Twitter-OAuth update_profile_*_image methods problem [EpiTwitter]

    - by KPL
People, I have been struggling over the two methods - Update Profile Image and Update Background Image I am using EpiTwitter library. I am uploading GIFs, Twitter returns the expected result for update_profile_background_image but returns 401 for update_profile_image , but the image is not changed. • How to produce an HTTP 403-equivalent WCF Message from an IErrorHandler?

    - by Andras Zoltan
I want to write an IErrorHandler implementation that will handle AuthenticationException instances (a proprietary type), and then in the implementation of ProvideFault provide a traditional Http Response with a status code of 403 as the fault message. So far I have my first best guess wired into a service, but WCF appears to be ignoring the output message completely, even though the error handler is being called. At the moment, the code looks like this: public class AuthWeb403ErrorHandler : IErrorHandler { #region IErrorHandler Members public bool HandleError(Exception error) { return error is AuthenticationException; } public void ProvideFault(Exception error, MessageVersion version, ref Message fault) { //first attempt - just a stab in the dark, really HttpResponseMessageProperty property = new HttpResponseMessageProperty(); property.SuppressEntityBody = true; property.StatusCode = System.Net.HttpStatusCode.Forbidden; property.StatusDescription = "Forbidden"; var m = Message.CreateMessage(version, null); m.Properties[HttpResponseMessageProperty.Name] = property; fault = m; } #endregion } With this in place, I just get the standard WCF html 'The server encountered an error processing the request. See server logs for more details.' - which is what would happen if there was no IErrorHandler. Is this a feature of the behaviours added by WebServiceHost? Or is it because the message I'm building is simply wrong!? I can verify that the event log is indeed not receiving anything. My current test environment is a WebGet method (both XML and Json) hosted in a service that is created with the WebServiceHostFactory, and Asp.Net compatibility switched off. The service method simply throws the exception in question.

  • How to return a complex object in axis web service .

    - by jani
    Hi all, I am writing a simple web service to return an object with 2 properties. I am embedding the service into an existing web application. My wsdd looks like this. <globalConfiguration> <parameter name="adminPassword" value="admin"/> <parameter name="sendXsiTypes" value="true"/> <parameter name="sendMultiRefs" value="true"/> <parameter name="sendXMLDeclaration" value="true"/> <parameter name="axis.sendMinimizedElements" value="true"/> <requestFlow> <handler type="java:org.apache.axis.handlers.JWSHandler"> <parameter name="scope" value="session"/> </handler> <handler type="java:org.apache.axis.handlers.JWSHandler"> <parameter name="scope" value="request"/> <parameter name="extension" value=".jwr"/> </handler> </requestFlow> </globalConfiguration> <handler name="LocalResponder" type="java:org.apache.axis.transport.local.LocalResponder"/> <handler name="URLMapper" type="java:org.apache.axis.handlers.http.URLMapper"/> <handler name="Authenticate" type="java:org.apache.axis.handlers.SimpleAuthenticationHandler"/> <transport name="http"> <requestFlow> <handler type="URLMapper"/> <handler type="java:org.apache.axis.handlers.http.HTTPAuthHandler"/> </requestFlow> </transport> <transport name="local"> <responseFlow> <handler type="LocalResponder"/> </responseFlow> </transport> <service name="helloService" provider="java:RPC" style="document" use="literal"> <parameter name="className" value="ws.example.HelloService"/> <parameter name="allowedMethods" value="*"/> <parameter name="scope" value="application"/> </service> I am able to deploy it successfully. If I try to invoke the method which returns a String, it is successfully returning the String. But when I invoke the method which returns an object, I am getting the following error. • Remove duplicates from a list of nested dictionaries

    - by user2924306
I'm writing my first python program to manage users in Atlassian On Demand using their RESTful API. I call the users/search?username= API to retrieve lists of users, which returns JSON. The results is a list of complex dictionary types that look something like this: [ { "self": "http://www.example.com/jira/rest/api/2/user?username=fred", "name": "fred", "avatarUrls": { "24x24": "http://www.example.com/jira/secure/useravatar?size=small&ownerId=fred", "16x16": "http://www.example.com/jira/secure/useravatar?size=xsmall&ownerId=fred", "32x32": "http://www.example.com/jira/secure/useravatar?size=medium&ownerId=fred", "48x48": "http://www.example.com/jira/secure/useravatar?size=large&ownerId=fred" }, "displayName": "Fred F. User", "active": false }, { "self": "http://www.example.com/jira/rest/api/2/user?username=andrew", "name": "andrew", "avatarUrls": { "24x24": "http://www.example.com/jira/secure/useravatar?size=small&ownerId=andrew", "16x16": "http://www.example.com/jira/secure/useravatar?size=xsmall&ownerId=andrew", "32x32": "http://www.example.com/jira/secure/useravatar?size=medium&ownerId=andrew", "48x48": "http://www.example.com/jira/secure/useravatar?size=large&ownerId=andrew" }, "displayName": "Andrew Anderson", "active": false } ] I'm calling this multiple times and thus getting duplicate people in my results. I have been searching and reading but cannot figure out how to deduplicate this list. I figured out how to sort this list using a lambda function. I realize I could sort the list, then iterate and delete duplicates. I'm thinking there must be a more elegant solution. Thank you!

  • Jquery Form ajaxSubmit not submitting

    - by Gazler
Hi, I am using the JQuery Form extension to submit a form with AJAX. I have the following code: var options = { beforeSubmit: showRequest, // pre-submit callback success: showResponse, // post-submit callback // other available options: //url: url // override for form's 'action' attribute //type: 'post', // 'get' or 'post', override for form's 'method' attribute //dataType: null // 'xml', 'script', or 'json' (expected server response type) clearForm: true, // clear all form fields after successful submit //resetForm: true // reset the form after successful submit // $.ajax options can be used here too, for example: timeout: 3000 }; $('#composeForm').submit(function() { // inside event callbacks 'this' is the DOM element so we first // wrap it in a jQuery object and then invoke ajaxSubmit $(this).find(':disabled').removeAttr('disabled'); $(this).ajaxSubmit(options); // !!! Important !!! // always return false to prevent standard browser submit and page navigation return false; }); The problem is that the form doesn't appear to be submitting, or atleast the success function is not being called. If I remove the return false, then the submission works, but the page navigates away. Is there a problem in my code that could be causing this? Cheers, Gazler.

  • Front End Developer v/s PHP-MySQL Engineer

    - by user301943
Hello, I want to decide which of this would be a more viable career option? I am ready to quit my current job and hence I am looking for new opportunity. Current job is maintainence and no more active development. My current role is of a PHP/MySQL Developer. I very well understand web-programming and am comfortable with RoR/Sinatra/Zend MVC/JQuery/JSON manipulation, etc. I understand MySQL InnoDB/MyISAM engine and how one differs from the other, etc. Basically, I could very well manage the deployment of a web-application end-to-end including configuration of Apache/Nginx servers, memcache, etc On the other hand, I am being offered a Sr.Front End Web developer that would require me to extensively write HTML/CSS crossbrowser/crossplatform compliant code. I very well understand XHTML/CSS/Box model etc. I would be working on Drupal for the management of websites. While I understand continuing to work on server-side technologies would always be a good career path, how would the role of Core front-end developer turn out to be? If I take this opportunity, will I eventually get a chance to focus onto UCD, HCI, Information Architect, etc. So are these kinda roles possible if I focus on front end development? No offenses to the Front end developers, just want to understand if this is something I want to gain a mastery over. I have 2 yrs of industry experience after graduating with a MS-Computer Science. Although, I have a CS degree, if I were to take uip serious front-end role; I could probably go back and take up some design/HCI/UI courses. Please advise.

  • How can I stop rails validating xml?

    - by Andrei T. Ursan
    I'm submitting to a rails webservice the following message: xmlPostData = "<message> <message-text>" + MESSAGE_WITH_XML + "</message-text> <name>" + subject + "</name> <f1>" + toPhone + "</f1> <f2>" + fromPhone + "</f2> </message>"; The problem is the the field with contain a text with XML data, is a workaround but I need to be able to submit that xml to the db and get it from there. Can I stop rails validating and replacing my xml in json format? this is how it looks: --- !map:HashWithIndifferentAccess smil: !map:HashWithIndifferentAccess head: !map:HashWithIndifferentAccess layout: !map:HashWithIndifferentAccess root_layout: !map:HashWithIndifferentAccess height: &quot;600&quot; background_color: white width: &quot;800&quot; type: text/smil-basic-layout body: !map:HashWithIndifferentAccess par: !map:HashWithIndifferentAccess text: !map:HashWithIndifferentAccess left: &quot;33&quot; begin: &quot;33&quot; dur: &quot;33&quot; val: 34343434343434343aaaaaaa height: &quot;33&quot; width: &quot;33&quot; top: &quot;33&quot; And this is the ruby method from the rails webservice: # POST /messages # POST /messages.xml def create @message = Message.new(params[:message]) respond_to do |format| if @message.save flash[:notice] = 'Message was successfully created.' format.html { redirect_to(@message) } format.xml { render :xml => @message, :status => :created, :location => @message } else format.html { render :action => "new" } format.xml { render :xml => @message.errors, :status => :unprocessable_entity } end end end Is a workaround but for the moment this has to work ...

  • jquery ui autocomplete problem

    - by Roger
Hi, i've got a select box containing countries, and when one is selected, i want my autocomplete data for the city field to load via ajax. here's my code: // Sets up the autocompleter depending on the currently // selected country $(document).ready(function() { var cache = getCities(); $('#registration_city_id').autocomplete( { source: cache } ); cache = getCities(); // update the cache array when a different country is selected $("#registration_country_id").change(function() { cache = getCities(); }); }); /** * Gets the cities associated with the currently selected country */ function getCities() { var cityId = $("#registration_country_id :selected").attr('value'); return $.getJSON("/ajax/cities/" + cityId + ".html"); } This returns the following json: ["Aberdare","Aberdeen","Aberystwyth","Abingdon","Accrington","Airdrie","Aldershot","Alfreton","Alloa","Altrincham","Amersham","Andover","Antrim","Arbroath","Ardrossan","Arnold","Ashford","Ashington","Ashton-under-Lyne","Atherton","Aylesbury","Ayr",... ] But, it doesn't work. When i start typing in the city box, the style changes so the autocompleter is doing something, but it won't display this data. If i hard-code the above it works. Can anyone see what's wrong? Thanks
