  • PHP Email Form Sending Random Text

    - by Doug
    Hi, I did a webpage for a client that involved a series of text boxes asking for specific information such as a person's name, e-mail address, company, etc. Along with a button that would e-mail the information to my client. Whenever I tested the button it seemed to work perfectly, I uploaded the page and thought I was done. But, the other day my client got this email from the site: Name: rfhopzdgmx rfhopzdgmx Email: [email protected] Company: zUDXatAfoDvQrdH Mailing Address: AaSsXklqpHIsoCNcei gXsimMPRBYZqq vGLvZraZNdpOAV, ChsmuibE PoKzaSCubXPRI Home Phone: CIJbIfjMfjIaTqAlD Work Phone: JFLZBOvru Cell Phone: XlFJTTFGiTTiiFQfy Fax: UEJMOVZodWPkKxew Comments: sPvSCE hgetwoguderu,* [url=http://atyktjlxcznl.com/]atyktjlxcznl[/url], [link=http://nudvfcehwpyg.com/]nudvfcehwpyg[/link], http://lvvwkbzbhnzp.com/ Note: The * line contained HTML link code, I just don't know how to get this site to show it. Here is the PHP code in the site for the e-mail button. <?php //This Sends A Formatted Text Email Using The Text Boxes if ($_POST['submit']){ //This Gets The Form Data $fname = $_POST['fName']; $lname = $_POST['lName']; $email = $_POST['email']; $company = $_POST['co']; $address1 = $_POST['address1']; $address2 = $_POST['address2']; $city = $_POST['city']; $state = $_POST['state']; $zip = $_POST['zip']; $homep = $_POST['homeP']; $workp = $_POST['workP']; $cellp = $_POST['cellP']; $fax = $_POST['fax']; $comments = $_POST['txaOutputField']; //echo "<script language = 'javascript'>alert('YAY');</script>"; if ($fname && $lname && $email && $comments){ //Check If Required Fields Are Filled //This Sets The SMTP Configuration In php.ini ini_set("SMTP", "smtp.2ndsourcewire.com"); //This Replaces Any Blank Fields With 'None's if ($company == ""){ $company = "None"; } if ($address1 == ""){ $address1 = "None"; } if ($city == ""){ $city = "None"; } if ($state == ""){ $state = "None"; } if ($zip == ""){ $zip = "None"; } if ($homep == ""){ $homep = "None"; } if ($workp == ""){ $workp = "None"; } if ($cellp == ""){ $cellp = "None"; } if ($fax == ""){ $fax = "None"; } //This Creates The Variables Necessary For The Email $to = "CLIENT EMAIL WHICH I'M CENSORING"; $subject = "Email from 2ndSourceWire.com"; $from = "From: [email protected]"; $secondEmail = "MY EMAIL WHICH I'M ALSO CENSORING"; if ($address2 == ""){ $body = "Name: $fname $lname\n". "Email: $email\n". "Company: $company\n\n". "Mailing Address:\n". "$address1\n". "$city, $state $zip\n\n". "Home Phone: $homep\n". "Work Phone: $workp\n". "Cell Phone: $cellp\n". "Fax: $fax\n\n". "Comments:\n". "$comments"; } else { $body = "Name: $fname $lname\n". "Email: $email\n". "Company: $company\n\n". "Mailing Address:\n". "$address1\n". "$address2\n". "$city, $state $zip\n\n". "Home Phone: $homep\n". "Work Phone: $workp\n". "Cell Phone: $cellp\n". "Fax: $fax\n\n". "Comments:\n". "$comments"; } //This Sends The Email mail($to, $subject, $body, $from); mail($secondEmail, $subject, $body, $from); echo "<script language = 'javascript'>alert('The email was sent successfully.');</script>"; } else { //The Required Fields Are Not Filled echo "<script language = 'javascript'>alert('Please fill your first name, last name, email address, and your comment or question.');</script>"; } } ? I'm a little dumbfounded on how this happened, the client mentioned a couple e-mails of this, so I don't think it is a random glitch. Also, the e-mail address was formatted like an e-mail address, so someone or some program was interpreting the labels next to each text box. I also noticed that the first and last names entered are the same word, even though they were in different text boxes, I'm thinking its some spam program, but wouldn't they try to advertise something and make money, rather than just spouting out random text? Also, the comments section makes no sense to me at all, the links goto nowhere and they're all perfectly formatted, a random person just screwing around wouldn't know those tags, and a programmer doing it wouldn't bother with it, but also neither would a program. I have no idea what caused this or how to fix it, I'm drawing a blank here. Anyone have any ideas?

  • WordPress 'comment is awaiting moderation.' message not appearing when a comment is submitted?

    Everything is pretty standard from WP samples, with minor modifications. But when a comment is submitted, it does not show the "your comment is awaiting moderation" message. • My PHP login no longer works

    - by Matt Clayton
    This page worked like a charm for years... enter the correspondng user id and password and you would be redirected to your directory. Now suddenly, all attempts to log in - valid or otherwise - result in the page remaining static... no message, no redirect, nothing. Nothing in the code has changed, it just plain doesn't work anymore. Could this be the result of some kind of change on the server side? Yeah, I know it's not super secure, but it was good enough for our purposes. I'm certainly open to better suggestions. I just need it to work... and keep working. Please be gentle! I know almost nothing of programming. Here is the page code: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8" > <link href="ilium.css" rel="stylesheet" media="screen"> <title>Ilium: Client Login</title> </head> <body bgcolor="#bfbfcc" background="img/loginbg.gif"> <?php /* init vars */ $userExists = false; $userIndex = -1; $authenicated = false; /*********************************************** * edit this to add new users/password * * - add user/pass/directory to the array * * below: must be in same array index to work * ***********************************************/ $user = array('foo', 'bar'); $pass = array('foo', 'bar'); $directory = array('foo', 'bar'); // run user/pass check if data passed if (isset($username) && isset($password)) { // check if user name exists for ($i = 0; $i < count($user); $i++) { if ($user[$i] == $username) { $userExists = true; $userIndex = $i; break; } } // so user exists, now test password if ($userExists) { $message = $message . • My form php is not working and I can't figure out where I went wrong

    - by user1081524
    I'm fairly new to all this, but I've created a form, and this is what I've written to send it. I've used "[email protected]" here instead of the real address <?php /* Set e-mail recipient */ $myemail = "[email protected]"; /* Check all form inputs using check_input function */ $names = check_input($_POST['names'], "Please return to our Application Form and enter your and your future spouse's names."); $weddingtype = check_input($_POST['weddingtype'], "Please return to our Application Form and fill in what kind of wedding you will be having."); $religioussect = check_input($_POST['religioussect'], "Please return to our Application Form and tell us about your religion and wedding traditions."); $dateone = check_input($_POST['dateone'], "Please return to our Application Form and give us the date for at least one event."); $eventone = check_input($_POST['eventone'], "Please return to our Application Form and list at least one event."); $locationone = check_input($_POST['locationone'], "Please return to our Application Form and give us the location for at least one event."); $durationone = check_input($_POST['durationone'], "Please return to our Application Form and give us the duration of at least one event."); $typeone = check_input($_POST['typeone'], "Please return to our Application Form and tell us whether you would like video, photo or both for at least one event."); $datetwo = $_POST['datetwo']; $eventtwo = $_POST['eventtwo']; $locationtwo = $_POST['locationtwo']; $durationtwo = $_POST['durationtwo']; $typetwo = $_POST['typetwo']; $datethree = $_POST['datethree']; $eventthree = $_POST['eventthree']; $locationthree = $_POST['locationthree']; $durationthree = $_POST['durationthree']; $typethree = $_POST['typethree']; $datefour = $_POST['datefour']; $eventfour = $_POST['eventfour']; $locationfour = $_POST['locationfour']; $durationfour = $_POST['durationfour']; $typefour = $_POST['typefour']; $guests1 = check_input($_POST['guests1'], "Please return to our Application Form and tell us how many guests will attend at least one event."); $guests2 = $_POST['guests2']; $guests3 = $_POST['guests3']; $guests4 = $_POST['guests4']; $concerns = $_POST['concerns']; if(!isset($_POST['submit'])){ $subject = "Quote Application"; /*Message for the e-mail */ $message = "Hello! Another happy couple has filled out a Quote Application Form :D Hooray! Their names are $names. What sort of wedding are they having? '$weddingtype'. • PROBLEM: PHP strip_tags & multi-dimensional array form parameter

    - by Tunji Gbadamosi
    I'm having problems stripping the tags from the textual inputs retrieved from my form so as to do something with them in checkout.php. The input is stored in a multi-dimensional array. Here's my form: echo '<form name="choose" action="checkout.php" method="post" onsubmit="return validate_second_form(this);">'; echo '<input type="hidden" name="hidden_value" value="'.$no_guests.'" />'; if($no_guests >= 1){ echo '<div class="volunteer">'; echo '<fieldset>'; echo '<legend>Volunteer:</legend>'; echo '<label>Table:</label>'; echo '<select name="volunteer_table">'; foreach($tables as $t){ echo '<option>'.$t.'</option>'; } echo '</select><br><br>'; echo '<label>Seat number:</label>'; echo '<select name="volunteer_seat">'; foreach($seats as $seat){ echo '<option>'.$seat.'</option>'; } echo '</select><br><br>'; //echo '<br>'; echo '</fieldset>'; echo '</div>'; for($i=0;$i<$no_guests;$i++){ $guest = "guest_".$i; echo '<div class="'.$guest.'">'; echo '<fieldset>'; echo '<legend>Guest '.$i.':</legend>'; echo '<label>First Name:</label>'; echo '<input type="text" name="guest['.$i.']['.$first_name.']" id="fn'.$i.'">'; echo '<label>Surname:</label>'; echo '<input type="text" name="guest['.$i.']['.$surname.']" id="surname'.$i.'"><br><br>'; echo '<label>Date of Birth:</label> <br>'; echo '<label>Day:</label>'; echo '<select name="guest['.$i.'][dob_day]">'; for($j=1;$j<32;$j++){ echo"<option value='$j'>$j</option>"; } echo '</select>'; echo '<label>Month:</label>'; echo '<select name="guest['.$i.'][dob_month]">'; for($j=0;$j<sizeof($month);$j++){ $value = ($j + 1); echo"<option value='$value'>$month[$j]</option>"; } echo '</select>'; echo '<label>Year:</label>'; echo '<select name="guest['.$i.'][dob_year]">'; for($j=1900;$j<$year_limit;$j++){ echo"<option value='$j'>$j</option>"; } echo '</select> <br><br>'; echo '<label>Sex:</label>'; echo '<select name="guest['.$i.']['.$sex.']">'; echo '<option>Female</option>'; echo '<option>Male</option>'; echo '</select><br><br>'; echo '<label>Table:</label>'; echo '<select name="guest['.$i.']['.$table.']">'; foreach($tables as $t){ echo '<option>'.$t.'</option>'; } echo '</select><br><br>'; echo '<label>Seat number:</label>'; echo '<select name="guest['.$i.']['.$seat_no.']">'; foreach($seats as $seat){ echo '<option>'.$seat.'</option>'; } echo '</select><br><br>'; //echo '<br>'; echo '</fieldset>'; echo '</div>'; } } else{ echo '<div id="volunteer">'; echo '<fieldset>'; echo '<legend>Volunteer:</legend>'; echo '<label>Table:</label>'; echo '<select name="volunteer['.$table.']">'; foreach($tables as $t){ echo '<option>'.$t.'</option>'; } echo '</select><br><br>'; echo '<label>Seat number:</label>'; echo '<select name="volunteer['.$seat_no.']">'; foreach($seats as $seat){ echo '<option>'.$seat.'</option>'; } echo '</select><br><br>'; //echo '<br>'; echo '</fieldset>'; echo '</div>'; } echo '<input type="submit" value="Submit form">'; echo '</form>'; here's checkout.php: if(isset($_POST['guest'])){ foreach($_POST['guest'] as $guest){ $guest['first_name'] = strip_tags($guest['first_name']); $guest['surname'] = strip_tags($guest['surname']); } //$_SESSION['guest'] = $guests; }

  • Can this PHP function be improved?

    - by jasondavis
    Below is some code I am working on for a navigation menu, if you are on a certain page, it will add a "current" css class to the proper tab. I am curious if there is a better way to do this in PHP because it really seems like a lot of code to do such a simple task? My pages will also have a jquery library already loaded, would it be better to set the tab with jquery instead of PHP? Any tips appreciated <?PHP active_header('page identifier goes here'); //ie; 'home' or 'users.online' function active_header($page_name) { // arrays for header menu selector $header_home = array('home' => true); $header_users = array( 'users.online' => true, 'users.online.male' => true, 'users.online.female' => true, 'users.online.friends' => true, 'users.location' => true, 'users.featured' => true, 'users.new' => true, 'users.browse' => true, 'users.search' => true, 'users.staff' => true ); $header_forum = array('forum' => true); $header_more = array( 'widgets' => true, 'news' => true, 'promote' => true, 'development' => true, 'bookmarks' => true, 'about' => true ); $header_money = array( 'account.money' => true, 'account.store' => true, 'account.lottery' => true, 'users.top.money' => true ); $header_account = array('account' => true); $header_mail = array( 'mail.inbox' => true, 'mail.sentbox' => true, 'mail.trash' => true, 'bulletins.post' => true, 'bulletins.my' => true, 'bulletins' => true ); // set variables if there array value exist if (isset($header_home[$page_name])){ $current_home = 'current'; }else if (isset($header_users[$page_name])){ $current_users = 'current'; }else if (isset($header_forum[$page_name])){ $current_forum = 'current'; }else if (isset($header_more[$page_name])){ $current_more = 'current'; }else if (isset($header_money[$page_name])){ $current_money = 'current'; }else if (isset($header_account[$page_name])){ $current_account = 'current'; }else if (isset($header_mail[$page_name])){ $current_mail = 'current'; } // show the links echo '<li class="' .     Hello, Im want to create a table that show the values of a mysql table. The problem is that when I open the page I only have the columns name. But I dont see any row. I also want to make a hyperlink of each row. How I will do that. Here is my code: <p> <?php </p> <p> include_once 'rnheader.php'; echo '</br>'; </p> <p> echo '<a href = "rnservices.php"> Create Service</a> '; </p> <p> echo '<table>'; echo '<tr>'; echo '<th>Service ID</th>'; echo '<th>Title</th>'; echo '<th>Description</th>'; echo '<th>Notes</th>'; echo '<th>Submit By</th>'; echo '<th>Assigned Employee</th>'; echo '<th>Assigned Group</th>'; echo '<th>Category</th>'; echo '<th>Status</th>'; echo '<th>Urgency</th>'; echo '<th>Customer</th>'; echo '<th>Day Created</th>'; echo '</tr>'; </p> <p> $query = ("SELECT ServiceID, Title, Description, Notes, SubmitBy, AssignedEmp, " . "AssignedGroup, NameCategory, TipoStatus, TiposUrgencia, CustomerName, DayCreation FROM Service"); $result = queryMysql($query); echo 'Number of Rows: ' . mysql_num_rows($result); </p> <p> while ($row = mysqli_fetch_assoc($result)) { </p> echo '<tr>'; echo '<td>' . $row['ServiceID'] .   • Can this PHP version of SPICE be improved?

    - by Noctis Skytower
    I do not know much about PHP's standard library of functions and was wondering if the following code can be improved in any way. The implementation should yield the same results, the API should remain as it is, but ways to make is more PHP-ish would be greatly appreciated. This is a custom encryption library. Code <?php /*************************************** Create random major and minor SPICE key. ***************************************/ function crypt_major() { $all = range("\x00", "\xFF"); shuffle($all); $major_key = implode("", $all); return $major_key; } function crypt_minor() { $sample = array(); do { array_push($sample, 0, 1, 2, 3); } while (count($sample) != 256); shuffle($sample); $list = array(); for ($index = 0; $index < 64; $index++) { $b12 = $sample[$index * 4] << 6; $b34 = $sample[$index * 4 + 1] << 4; $b56 = $sample[$index * 4 + 2] << 2; $b78 = $sample[$index * 4 + 3]; array_push($list, $b12 + $b34 + $b56 + $b78); } $minor_key = implode("", array_map("chr", $list)); return $minor_key; } /*************************************** Create the SPICE key via the given name. ***************************************/ function named_major($name) { srand(crc32($name)); return crypt_major(); } function named_minor($name) { srand(crc32($name)); return crypt_minor(); } /*************************************** Check validity for major and minor keys. ***************************************/ function _check_major($key) { if (is_string($key) && strlen($key) == 256) { foreach (range("\x00", "\xFF") as $char) { if (substr_count($key, $char) == 0) { return FALSE; } } return TRUE; } return FALSE; } function _check_minor($key) { if (is_string($key) && strlen($key) == 64) { $indexs = array(); foreach (array_map("ord", str_split($key)) as $byte) { foreach (range(6, 0, 2) as $shift) { array_push($indexs, ($byte >> $shift) & 3); } } $dict = array_count_values($indexs); foreach (range(0, 3) as $index) { if ($dict[$index] != 64) { return FALSE; } } return TRUE; } return FALSE; } /*************************************** Create encode maps for encode functions. ***************************************/ function _encode_map_1($major) { return array_map("ord", str_split($major)); } function _encode_map_2($minor) { $map_2 = array(array(), array(), array(), array()); $list = array(); foreach (array_map("ord", str_split($minor)) as $byte) { foreach (range(6, 0, 2) as $shift) { array_push($list, ($byte >> $shift) & 3); } } for ($byte = 0; $byte < 256; $byte++) { array_push($map_2[$list[$byte]], chr($byte)); } return $map_2; } /*************************************** Create decode maps for decode functions. ***************************************/ function _decode_map_1($minor) { $map_1 = array(); foreach (array_map("ord", str_split($minor)) as $byte) { foreach (range(6, 0, 2) as $shift) { array_push($map_1, ($byte >> $shift) & 3); } } return $map_1; }function _decode_map_2($major) { $map_2 = array(); $temp = array_map("ord", str_split($major)); for ($byte = 0; $byte < 256; $byte++) { $map_2[$temp[$byte]] = chr($byte); } return $map_2; } /*************************************** Encrypt or decrypt the string with maps. ***************************************/ function _encode($string, $map_1, $map_2) { $cache = ""; foreach (str_split($string) as $char) { $byte = $map_1[ord($char)]; foreach (range(6, 0, 2) as $shift) { $cache .= $map_2[($byte >> $shift) & 3][mt_rand(0, 63)]; } } return $cache; } function _decode($string, $map_1, $map_2) { $cache = ""; $temp = str_split($string); for ($iter = 0; $iter < strlen($string) / 4; $iter++) { $b12 = $map_1[ord($temp[$iter * 4])] << 6; $b34 = $map_1[ord($temp[$iter * 4 + 1])] << 4; $b56 = $map_1[ord($temp[$iter * 4 + 2])] << 2; $b78 = $map_1[ord($temp[$iter * 4 + 3])]; $cache .= $map_2[$b12 + $b34 + $b56 + $b78]; } return $cache; } /*************************************** This is the public interface for coding. ***************************************/ function encode_string($string, $major, $minor) { if (is_string($string)) { if (_check_major($major) && _check_minor($minor)) { $map_1 = _encode_map_1($major); $map_2 = _encode_map_2($minor); return _encode($string, $map_1, $map_2); } } return FALSE; } function decode_string($string, $major, $minor) { if (is_string($string) && strlen($string) % 4 == 0) { if (_check_major($major) && _check_minor($minor)) { $map_1 = _decode_map_1($minor); $map_2 = _decode_map_2($major); return _decode($string, $map_1, $map_2); } } return FALSE; } ?> This is a sample showing how the code is being used.   • xsl:include fails after upgrading PHP version; is libxml/libxslt version mismatch the issue?

    - by Wiseguy
    I'm running Windows XP with the precompiled PHP binaries available from windows.php.net. I upgraded from PHP 5.2.5 to PHP 5.2.16, and now the xsl:includes in some of my stylesheets stopped working. Testing each version in succession, I discovered that it worked up through 5.2.8 and does not work in 5.2.9+. I now get the following three errors for each xsl:include. Warning: XSLTProcessor::importStylesheet() [xsltprocessor.importstylesheet]: I/O warning : failed to load external entity "file%3A/C%3A/path/to/included/stylesheet.xsl" in ... on line 227 Warning: XSLTProcessor::importStylesheet() [xsltprocessor.importstylesheet]: compilation error: file file%3A//C%3A/path/to/included/stylesheet.xsl line 36 element include in ... on line 227 Warning: XSLTProcessor::importStylesheet() [xsltprocessor.importstylesheet]: xsl:include : unable to load file%3A/C%3A/path/to/included/stylesheet.xsl in ... on line 227 I presume this is because it cannot find the specified file. Many of the includes are in the same directory as the stylesheet being transformed and have no directory in the path, i.e. <xsl:include href="fileInSameDir.xsl">. Interestingly, in the first and third errors, it is displaying the file:// protocol with only one slash instead of the correct two. I'm guessing that's the problem. (When I hard-code a full path using "file:/" it fails, but when I hard-code a full path with "file://" it works.) But what could cause that? A bug in libxslt/libxml? I also found an apparent version mismatch between libxml and the version of libxml that libxslt was compiled against. 5.2.5 libxml Version = 2.6.26 libxslt compiled against libxml Version = 2.6.26 5.2.8 libxml Version = 2.6.32 libxslt compiled against libxml Version = 2.6.32 === it breaks in versions starting at 5.2.9 === 5.2.9 libxml Version = 2.7.3 libxslt compiled against libxml Version = 2.6.32 5.2.16 libxml Version = 2.7.7 libxslt compiled against libxml Version = 2.6.32 Up until PHP 5.2.9, libxslt was compiled against the same version of libxml that was included with PHP. But starting with PHP 5.2.9, libxslt was compiled against an older version of libxml than that which was included with PHP. Is this a problem with the distributed binaries or just a coincidence? To test this, I imagine PHP could be built with different versions of libxml/libxslt to see which combinations work or don't. Unfortunately, I'm out of my element in a Windows world, and building PHP on Windows seems over my head. Regrettably, I've been thus far unable to reproduce this problem with an example outside my app, so I'm struggling to narrow it down and can't submit a specific bug. So, do you think it is caused by a version mismatch problem in the distributed binaries? a bug introduced in PHP 5.2.9? a bug introduced in libxml 2.7? something else? I'm stumped. Any thoughts that could point me in the right direction are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • PHP - Opening uploaded DOCX files with the correct MIME TYPE

    - by user270797
    I have users uploading DOCX files which I make available for download. The issues we have been experiencing is the unknown mime types of DOCX files which causes IE to open these docs as Zip files. It is running on a Windows/IIS server. Because this is a shared host, I cannot change any server settings. I was thinking that I could just write some code that would handle DOCX files, perhaps custom output: if (extension=docx) { header("Content-Disposition: attachment; etc) header('Content-Type: application/application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document'); Output the file contents etc } Would this be a viable solution?? If so, can someone help fill in the gaps? (PS I know the above syntax is not correct, just a quick example)

  • Truncate a UTF-8 string to fit a given byte count in PHP

    - by fsb
    Say we have a UTF-8 string $s and we need to shorten it so it can be stored in N bytes. Blindly truncating it to N bytes could mess it up. But decoding it to find the character boundaries is a drag. Is there a tidy way? [Edit 20100414] In addition to S.Mark’s answer: mb_strcut(), I recently found another function to do the job: grapheme_extract($s, $n, GRAPHEME_EXTR_MAXBYTES); from the intl extension. Since intl is an ICU wrapper, I have a lot of confidence in it.

  • How necessary is using PHP filters?

    - by Jamie
    I'm a relatively newbie to PHP and just making my way through the W3Schools tut. The tut makes a big point of saying you must always filter external data (i.e. cookies, form data etc). I'm writing a fairly simple system that talks with a third party Joomla extension. It's at a prototype stage where I'm just wanting to demonstrate the functionality in a minimum viable product. Basically, I'd like to know... what's the worst that could happen in I don't filter content. Are we talking 'I might get a bunch of spam', or 'a good hacker could get root server access'? Have hunted around online, but would love any of your experience / insight on the matter!

  • PHP find if file data is an image

    - by Christian Sciberras
    Imagine I have some file data in a variable $data. I need to determine whether it is an image or not. No need for details such as corrupt images etc. Firs thought would be getting the file mime type by looking at the magic number and then see whether "image" is in the mime type. No such luck, even if I have a "file extension to mime type" script, I don't have a reliable way to get mime from magic number. My next option was to have a reasonable list of image file magic numbers and consult them. However, it relatively difficult to find such magic numbers (gif for instance has different magic numbers, some of which could pretty rare - if memory serves me right). A better idea would be some linux program which can do this kind of thing. Any ideas? I'm running RHEL and PHP 5.3. I've got root access - ie able to install stuff if needed. - Chris.

  • Ubuntu 10.04 not detecting multiple monitors

    - by user28837
    I have 2 graphics cards, the output from the lspci: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV770 [Radeon HD 4850] 02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV710 [Radeon HD 4350] I have one monitor connected to the 4850 and 2 connected to the 4350. However when I go into System Preferences Monitors the only monitor shown is the one connected to the 4850. Is there something I need to enable for it to be able to use the other card? I am using the codeigniter framework so its functions are also available to me.

Anyone knows what is causing this?
