  • Max number of web methods?

    - by Rippo
Guys I have a web service in asp.net 2.0 that has 234 methods. It seems that when I add another method the site does not compile in VS2005 until I remove one first. I get a message saying that the new method I just added does not exist in a file that belongs in the Microsoft.Net/.../Temporary Files directory. I have restarted IIS, closed down VS2005, removed all files from this temp directory but to no avail. The only way to get the code to compile is to remove another one so as to keep 234 methods.... I can consistency replicate this behaviour so it cannot be my code. Now I know this seems strange but it is true! One other strange thing is that exactly 100 of the method names begin with the word GetXXXyyyZZZ Has anyone else experienced problems with the maximum number of methods that are allowed in a web service? Many Thanks

  • How come (a_method || :other) returns :other only when assigning to a var called a_method?

    - by Paul Annesley
Given the following method: def some_method :value end The following statements work as I would expect: some_method || :other # => :value x = some_method || :other # => :value But the behaviour of the following statement perplexes me: some_method = some_method || :other # => :other It creates a local variable called some_method as expected, and subsequent calls to some_method return the value of that local variable. But why does it assign :other rather than :value? I understand that it's probably not a smart thing to do, and can see how it might be ambiguous, but I thought the right-hand-side of the assignment should be evaluated prior to the assignment being considered... I've tested this in Ruby 1.8.7 and Ruby 1.9.2 with identical results. Cheers! Paul

  • Why does sh/bash set command line parameter values when trying to set environment variable?

    - by Touko
A question on basics : While tuning environment variables for a program launched from a script, I ended up with somewhat strange behaviour with sh (which seems to be actually linked to bash) : variable setting seems to mess up with command-line parameters. Could somebody explain why does this happen? A simple script: #! /bin/sh # Messes with $1 ?? set ANT_OPTS=-Xmx512M export ANT_OPTS # Works # export ANT_OPTS=-Xmx512M echo "0 = $0" echo "1 = $1" When I run this with the upper alternative (set + export), the result is as following: $ ./test.sh foo 0 = ./test.sh 1 = ANT_OPTS=-Xmx512M But with lower alternative (export straight), the result is as I supposed: $ ./test.sh foo 0 = ./test.sh 1 = foo There is surely logical explanation, I just haven't figured it out yet. Somebody who does have idea? br, Touko

  • How can I call some javascript functions but, waiting for the previous has finished?

    - by texai
    I want to call some functions but waiting for the previous one has finished. I know jQuery provides a callback argument in several functions, but I want to learn how implement this behaviour in my own jQuery plugin. So this is the case: After read answers from my previous question I wrote this: (function(callback){ $('#art1').animate({'width':'1000px'},1000); callback(); })((function(callback2){ $('#art2').animate({'width':'1000px'},1000); callback2(); })(function(){ $('#art3').animate({'width':'1000px'},1000); })); But still not working. Three animates still starting at same time. I want they were called one after other. But without using: $('#art1').animate({'width':'1000px'},1000,'linear',function(){ $('#art2').animate({'width':'1000px'},1000,'linear',function(){ $('#art3').animate({'width':'1000px'},1000); }); });

  • How to override inner class methods if the inner class is defined as a property of the top class

    - by Maddy
I have a code snippet like this class A(object): class b: def print_hello(self): print "Hello world" b = property(b) And I want to override the inner class b (please dont worry about the lowercase name) behaviour. Say, I want to add a new method or I want to change an existing method, like: class C(A): class b(A.b): def print_hello(self): print "Inner Class: Hello world" b = property(b) Now if I create C's object as c = C(), and call c.b I get TypeError: 'property' object is not callable error. How would I get pass this and call print_hello of the extended inner class? Disclaimer: I dont want to change the code for A class.

  • Using MonadPlus in FRP.Reactive.FieldTrip

    - by ony
I'm studying FRP at this moment through FieldTrip adaptor. And hit the problem with strange way of frames scheduling and integration. So now I'm trying to build own marker Event for aligning Behaviour stepping. So... flipflop :: Behavior String flipflop = stepper "none" (xflip 2) where xflip t0 = do t <- withTimeE_ (atTime t0) return "flip" `mplus` xflop (t+3) xflop t0 = do t <- withTimeE_ (atTime t0) return "flop" `mplus` xflip (t+2) txtGeom = ((uscale2 (0.5::Float) *%) . utext . show <$>) main = anim2 (txtGeom . pure flipflop) Questions is: Why this example leads to memory leak? Is there safe way to build sequence of events where each next one is scheduled depending on previous?

  • d2: strange lowering of protection and possible misbehavior in static imports

    - by modchan
Consider there is moda.d: module moda; private struct modb {}; And modb.d: module modb; private import moda; And modmain.d: module modmain; static import moda; static import modb; void main() { modb v; // should NOT compile, should it? } I don't know why, but moda.modb is visible in both modmain and modb, while, as far as I understand, it should not - both due to moda being imported as static and moda.modb being private. Or should? Have I run into dmd bug or it's planned behaviour I hadn't understood?

  • WxWidgets custom events

    - by Klaus
Hello, I'm trying to use a custom event in my WxWidgets C++ application, like described here. In the constructor of my wxApp: Connect(wxID_ANY, wxCommandEventHandler(APP::OnMyEvent)); Then the function that should catch the event: void APP::OnMyEvent(wxCommandEvent& event) { exit(0); //testing } Finally, to test it: wxCommandEvent MyEvent(wxEVT_COMMAND_BUTTON_CLICKED); wxPostEvent(this, MyEvent); I launch the thing...but it seems that the event is not posted or not caught. Does someone understand this behaviour ?

  • what is the programmatic parlance for this phenomenon?

    - by deostroll
Here is javascript code (jquery) for adding a row of images: var tr = $('<tr>'); var td = '<td><img src="myimg.jpg"/></td>'; tr.append(td).append(td).append(td); $('#mytable tbody tr:eq(0)').before(tr); tr.empty(); //I really don't need this line... Technically tr.empty() shouldn't have worked. It actually does the opposite of what I want. What is the techinical term for this behaviour - You've added tr to the DOM, but any jquery function calls to that object still works, where as you'd normally not expect it to work i.e. make changes to the DOM?

  • Activity triggered by a click on a Notification

    - by Zelig63
From a Service, I trigger a Notification which, when clicked, has to launch an Activity. To do this, I use the following code : notification=new Notification(icone,title,System.currentTimeMillis()); intent=new Intent(getApplicationContext(),myActivity.class); intent.putExtra("org.mypackage.name",true); intent.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK); pendingIntent=PendingIntent.getActivity(getApplicationContext(),0,intent,PendingIntent.FLAG_ONE_SHOT); notification.setLatestEventInfo(getApplicationContext(),title,"Message",pendingIntent); notification.flags|=Notification.FLAG_AUTO_CANCEL; ((NotificationManager)contexte.getSystemService(Context.NOTIFICATION_SERVICE)).notify("label,0,notification); When I click on the Notification, the Activity is correctly launched. But it's Intent doesn't contain the extra boolean added with the line intent.putExtra("org.mypackage.name",true);. Does anyone have an idea of this behaviour? I can add that I use Android 4. Thanks in advance for the time you will spend trying to help me.

Now I have created threads to update my controls dynamically and to do processing parallel.AS the requirement I want to define all functionality of threads in UIController projects. What should I do? Currenty what I am doing - private void Button_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { StartThreads(); } private void StartThreads() { private Thread _thread1; _thread1 = new Thread(DoThread1); _thread1.Start(); } public static void DoThread1() { _data1.Dispatcher.BeginInvoke(delegate() { _data1.Text = _count1.ToString(); }); System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(1000); } I Want to write DoThread1() method in UIController project and call that function from here button_click()

  • What is the best method for implementing mouse wheel activity in Delph1 VCL forms?

    - by Brian Frost
As a long time user of Delphi 7, I've rolled my own mouse wheel handling in a few controls but lately I've noticed that some recent applications only need the mouse cursor to be placed over a control (e.g a list box or tree view) for the mouse wheel activity to cause that control to scroll. This feels nice (as opposed to having to click focus a control before it responds to the wheel. Now I've moved to Delphi 2010 I'm wondering what is the 'correct' behaviour? And what can I use in Delphi that avoids me having to bodge this with my own solutions now? Thanks.

  • How to load images and fragments dynamically in LiveCycle Designer forms?

    - by John
Hi there. I've created a couple of shared templates (.xdp) which will be shared among several clients. Obviously, each client has their own logo and I'd like to set the logo upon form generation. I've managed to change the logo dynamically although I'm not sure if my approach is good. In the xml datasource I've got this element: <ClientID>SomeNumber</ClientId> In the form itself I set the image href with this javascript code: SomeHiddenTextField::calculate HeaderLogo.value.image.href = $record.ClientID + "_logo.jpg"; I've got the logos stored on the server in the same folder as the shared templates. Is this an alright approach to load logos dynamically? I've been trying to achieve the same dynamic behaviour with each client's footer fragment, but I have been unable to figure out how to load these on demand. I could make each footer fragment in to an image but I'd like to avoid it if possible.

  • How do I configure emacs for editing HTML files that contain Javascript?

    - by MakeDummy
I have started the painful first steps of using emacs to edit an HTML file with both HTML tags and javascript content. I have installed nxhtml and tried using it - i.e set up to use nxhtml-mumamo-mode for .html files. But I am not loving it. When I am editing the Javascript portion of the code the tab indents do not behave as they do when editing C/C++ code. It starts putting tabs within the line and if you try and hit tab in the white space preceding a line it inserts the tab rather than re-tabifying the line. Another aspect that I don't like is that it doesn't do syntax colouring like the usual C/C++ modes do. I much prefer the behaviour of the default java-mode when editing HTML files but that doesn't play nicely with the HTML code. :-( 1) Is there a better mode for editing HTML files with Javascript portions? 2) Is there a way to get nxhtml to use the default java-mode for the javascript portions? Regards, M

  • hidden form element not bound?

    - by csetzkorn
Is it standard/intended behaviour that the value of a hidden form field is not bound to the view model (nor is a query string value)? Example: <%= Html.Hidden("test", "13" )%> if my poco view model contains a property test it should be bound shouldn't it?! i have to set it explicitely in the controller at the moment which kind of defeats the objective doesn't it? bla( formviewmodel m, string test) { m.test = test; } any feedback appreciated. thanks! christian

  • Are returned locals automatically xvalues

    - by mark
Following on from a comment I made on this: passing std::vector to constructor and move semantics Is the std::move necessary in the following code, to ensure that the returned value is a xvalue? std::vector<string> buildVector() { std::vector<string> local; // .... build a vector return std::move(local); } It is my understanding that this is required. I have often seen this used when returning a std::unique_ptr from a function, however GManNickG made the following comment: It is my understanding that in a return statement all local variables are automatically xvalues (expiring values) and will be moved, but I'm unsure if that only applies to the returned object itself. So OP should go ahead and put that in there until I'm more confident it shouldn't have to be. :) Can anyone clarify if the std::move is necessary? Is the behaviour compiler dependent?

  • jQuery Ajax: Copy - Paste thingy

    - by tsiger
Hi everyone, I have a form where a check an input field for its value and then i do an Ajax call using the typewatch plugin ( a small little thing which detects that the user has stopped typing after a predefined interval ). It works great. As this field is a "coupon discount" in an order form, the value could be entered by copy pasting the "coupon code" from an email or something. It also works with Ctrl+C - Ctrl+V for Copy and paste but not when a user selects the text with the mouse, clicks copy from the context menu and then paste from this menu. Is there a way in jQuery to check for this kind of behaviour in jQuery somehow?

  • How to handle Clean URIs in Classic ASP using PATH_INFO?

    - by Mario
I'm trying to handle Clean URIs in a Classic ASP application. In PHP, I was able to use URIs like http://example.com/index.php/foo/bar/baz and have /foo/bar/baz available in the PATH_INFO environment variable. (I usually add a rewrite rule so I do not need the index.php segment) However, I don't seem to be able to mimic this in Classic ASP. If I try http://example.com/index.asp/foo/bar/baz, I get a 404 error. Is there a way to add a path after the index.asp segment and get the PHP like behaviour in ASP? Note: I'm currently using the workaround of rewriting URLs of the form: http://example.com/foo/bar/baz/ to index.asp?path=/foo/bar/baz since I can't seem to get index.asp/foo/bar/baz to work.

  • Remove unnecessary svn:mergeinfo properties

    - by LeonZandman
When I merge stuff in my repository Subversion wants to add/change a lot of svn:mergeinfo properties to files that are totally unrelated to the things that I want to merge. Questions about this behaviour have been asked before here on Stackoverflow.com, as you can read here and here. From what I understand from the topics mentioned above it looks like a lot of files in my repository have explicit svn:mergeinfo properties on them, when they shouldn't. The advice is to reduce the amount and only put those properties on relevant files/folders. So now my question: how can I easily remove those unneeded properties? I'm using TortoiseSVN, but am reluctant to manually check/fix hundreds of files. Is there an easier way to remove those unnecessary svn:mergeinfo properties? P.S. I'm not looking for C++ SVN API code.

  • SQl Server: serializable level not working

    - by Zé Carlos
I have the following SP: CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[sp_LockReader] AS BEGIN SET NOCOUNT ON; begin try set transaction isolation level serializable begin tran select * from teste commit tran end try begin catch rollback tran set transaction isolation level READ COMMITTED end catch set transaction isolation level READ COMMITTED END The table "test" has many values, so "select * from teste" takes several seconds. I run the sp_LockReader at same time in two diferent query windows and the second one starts showing test table contents without the first one terminates. Shouldn't serializeble level forces the second query to wait? How do i get the described behaviour? Thanks

  • My C# program running as Windows Service is blocking Windows XP from hibernation

    - by sherpa
I have Windows Service written in C#. It starts two threads, one is pooling a Web Service, second is waiting on a Monitor object for a new job to arrive. Besides that, the main thread acts as a WCF service host using NetNamedPipeBinding. It lets the client application to register a callback and then sends notifications back. The problem I have is that when this Windows Service is running, I cannot hibernate or Standby my computer which is running on Windows XP, SP3. When I set Windows to hibernate or standby, nothing happens. Then, at the moment when I go to Service Manager and stop the service, the system hibernation starts immediately. The service class extending the ServiceBase has properties like CanHandlePowerEvent, CanPauseAndContinue, etc. set to true... That didn't make any difference. The question is: what can be blocking the Hibernation/Standby from proceeding? What should I take care about to avoid it?

  • Calling a web service from a windows service

    - by Arun
I'm sure there's an elegant solution to the problem but I just can't get my head around it. I am trying to call a web service from within a Windows service. The web service is secured (using Windows authentication). The account that the windows service runs under does have the rights to call the web service but I can't figure out how to get those credentials and send them off to the web service. The web service is WCF and is hosted on the same machine (in IIS) as the windows service.

  • UX Design Question: Should a multi step wizard save the form contents when the user clicks 'go back'

    - by Ashwin Prabhu
I am developing a web application that collects data over multiple steps through a wizard. Steps are generally not interdependent, in that data input at each step has little or no effect on the consequent steps. However each step may have a set of validations which determine whether the user can progress to the next step by clicking 'continue' What should be the behavior when the user clicks previous? a Quickly move to the previous page, thus losing all the unsaved data in the form. Prompting the user with a warning is an option, but it can become irritating quite soon. b Move to the previous page saving all the data in the current step - without triggering validations, so that when the user comes back she sees the form in the same state that she left it in. c any other behaviour All opinions are welcome :)

  • Proxy object references in MVC code

    - by krystan honour
Hi there, I am just figuring out best practice with MVC now I have a project where we have chosen to use it in anger. My question is. If creating a list view which is bound to an IEnumerable is this bad practise? Would it be better to seperate the code generated by the WCF Service reference into a datastructure which essentially holds the same data but abstracts further from the service, meaning that the UI is totally unaware of the service implementation beneath. or do people just bind to the proxy object types and have done with it ? My personal feeling is to create an abstraction but this seems to violate the DRY principle.
