    I am implementing a FakeDataSet class by implementing IDbSet interface. As part of implementing this interface, I have to implement Find method. All my entity classes has an Guid type Id column. I am trying to implement Find method for this FakeDbSet class but having hard time to write it in a generic way. Below is my attempts for writing this method but since it does not know about Id been Guid type, I am getting compilation error on m.Id call.   • What to include in metadata?

    I'm wondering if there are any general guidelines or best practices regarding when to split data into a metadata format, as oppose to directly embedding it within the data. (Specific example below). My understanding of metadata is that it describes data (without the need to actually look at the data), allowing for data to be quickly search/filtered for easy access. Let's take for example a simple 3D model format. The actual data file itself is a binary file containing vertices and colors. Things like creation date, modified data and author name would be things that describe the binary data, so I would say these belong as metadata (outside of the binary file). But what if the application had no need to search or filter by these fields? Would it be acceptable to embed these fields directly into the binary data itself? Could they be duplicated in both the binary data and the meta data, or would this be considered bad practice? What about more ambiguous fields such as the model name, which could be considered part of the data itself, but also as data describing the binary data?... How do you decide which data to embed in the actual binary file, as opposed to separating into a more flexible metadata format? Thanks!

  • Why did Google remove the search box in developer tool from Chrome 22 stable release?

    In previous version of Chrome, there's the search box in developer tool, on the right top when I open it, just as shown below. (Sorry I can't upload image cuz' I don't have enough reputation for now.) http://i.minus.com/iklSx2vi0uzFB.JPG But, after I upgraded to the first release of Chrome 22 yesterday, that search box was gone, as shown below. http://i.minus.com/ibxXt9wnBekR7E.JPG It is such a useful search box that I rely on all the time, to search for something, or to validate an xpath. So does Google just 'hide' it somewhere else? Or do they really remove it? Anyone know why they made such changes?

    Thunderbird is a good rss reader in terms of being able to connect successfully to jira authenticated search feeds (where evolution-rss and Liferea can't), but really sucks when it comes to updating. A Jira search feed will give a link id to http://jira/browse/[ticket no], and if that ticket/feed-item is updated, thunderbird refuses to update it - it already has it! (even though the item date does not match). Also, if you delete the ticket update, it will never show up again for that news account. Has anybody found an RSS reader that can work with JIRA/updating RSS items? Note: this is not the same as Jira activity feeds - those work great, as each update has a unique item id To replicate: Grab a search (any search) Get it into your rss reader Read an item, modify the linked ticket Update rss and see if the ticket bumps to most recent and unread or, generically: Get an rss feed (from your hard drive?)     The search bar in Windows 7 is very convenient to quickly start applications by pressing the Win-key and then entering the name of the application. For applications with a Program Menu entry like Firefox, it is sufficient to type Fire and Firefox will be displayed in the Programs section of the search results. For other applications like regedit.exe, I have to type the full command regedit before the correct choice regedit.exe appears. Is there any way to have regedit.exe appear already when I have just entered a substring? This question is about if there is some configuration that can be tuned to make the results appear. I have also seen Search behavior of Windows 7 start menu, but my problem is not that the exe appears under Files, regedit.exe correctly appears under Programs, but it should appear already for a substring match.

Examples of programs that demonstrate the type of search I'm trying to accomplish are Notational Velocity for MacOS, Resop for windows or SimpleNote for the web. These apps do an instant or incremental search in the files of a specific directory and make it easy/fast to narrow down the file you are looking for or create a new file. I use both but would rather live in one editor.(that being VIM) Is there some plug in that would do this?

    The search bar in Windows 7 is very convenient to quickly start applications by pressing the Win-key and then entering the name of the application. For applications with a Program Menu entry like Firefox, it is sufficient to type Fire and Firefox will be displayed in the Programs section of the search results. For other applications like regedit.exe, I have to type the full command regedit before the correct choice regedit.exe appears. Is there any way to have regedit.exe appear already when I have just entered a substring?     I've tried to run the following commands but neither work and I'm not sure how I should setup the query. I tried to find a full list of available search strings but couldn't locate one online or using help. I did find the list here (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232132.aspx#AQS) but it doesn't include the search queries I am looking for (based on the fact that it doesn't even list "Received:" which I know is an option because I use it all the time.     I've come across Jump Point Search, and it seems pretty sweet to me. However, I'm unsure as to how their pruning rules actually work. More specifically, in Figure 1, it states that we can immediately prune all grey neighbours as these can be reached optimally from the parent of x without ever going through node x However, this seems somewhat at odds. In the second image, node 5 could be reached by first going through node 7 and skipping x entirely through a symmetrical path- that is, 6 -> x -> 5 seems to be symmetrical to 6 -> 7 -> 5. This would be the same as how node 3 can be reached without going through x in the first image. As such, I don't understand how these two images are not entirely equivalent, and not just rotated versions of each other. Secondly, I'd like to understand how this algorithm could be generalized to a three-dimensional search volume.
