  • Use mod_rewrite or RedirectMatch to redirect oldfile.aspx?p=blah to newfile.php, ignoring ?p=blah

    I've got a site with many incoming links to the old structure (gone for years), with tonnes of URL vars that are no longer relevant, as the database mappings were changed. So, I'd like to redirect: http://www.mysite.com/oldfile.aspx?p=1&c=2 to: http://www.mysite.com/newfile.php without the query string at the end. The actual query string varies - there are hundreds of them, but since they don't match up to a particular case anymore, I want to take people to the new index page for the content they're looking for, so they can find it from there. I currently use: RedirectMatch 301 ^/oldfile\.aspx$ /newfile.php This puts the query back on the end though. Can someone let me know the voodoo recipe I need?

  • Domain changes required for SSL integration

    Currently my site supports regular payment options (User is taken to Payment Gateway/PG website). Now I'm trying to implement "seamless" PG integration. I need SSL for this. I'm having a dedicated server with 5 static IPs from Hostgator/HG. options: I take SSL for www.my_domain.com. According to HG, I need to change IP of main site as current IP is not really dedicated as it is being shared by cpanel etc. So They need to bind another dedicated IP to main domain for SSL to work. This would required DNS change for main website and hence cause few hours downtime (which is ok). I've noticed that most of the e-commerce websites are using subdomains like secure.my_domain.com for ssl/https. This sounds like a better approach. But I've got few doubts in this case: a) Would I need to re-register with existing PGs (Paypal, Google Checkout, Authorize.net) if I switch to subdomain? Re-registering is not an option for me. b) Would DNS change be required for www.my_domain.com in this case. This confusion arose because of following reply from HG : "If the sub domain secure.my_domain.com is added to an existing cPanel it will use the IP for that cPanel so as long as it is a Dedicated IP that will be fine. If secure.my_domain.com gets setup as its own cPanel it will need to be assigned to a Dedicated IP which would have a DNS change involved.". Please suggest?

  • Learning Electronics & the Arduino Microcontroller

    Lately, I've had a growing interest in Electronics & Microcontrollers. I'm a loyal reader of Make Magazine and thoroughly enjoy seeing all the various projects in each issue, even though I rarely try to make any of them. I've been reading and watching videos about the Arduino, which is an open source Microcontroller and software project that the people at Make (and a lot of other folks) are pretty hot about. Even the prebuilt hardware is remarkably inexpensive , although there are kits available to build one from the base components. (Full disclosure: I bought my first soldering iron... EVER... just last week, so I fully acknowledge the likelihood of making some mistakes. That's why I'm not trying to do the "build it yourself" kit just yet. It's also another reason to be happy the hardware is so cheap.) There are a number of different Arduino boards available, but the two that have really piqued my interest are the Arduino UNO and the NETduino. The UNO is a very popular board, with a number of features and is under $35 which means I won't hurl myself off a bridge when I inevitably destroy it. The NETduino is very similar to the Arduino UNO and has the added advantage of being programmable with... you guessed it... C#. I'm actually ordering both boards and some miscellaneous other doodads to go with them.  There are a few good websites for this sort of thing, including www.makershed.com and www.adafruit.com. The price difference is negligible, so in my case, I'm ordering from Maker Shed (the Make Magazine people) because I want to support them. :) I've also picked up a few O'Reilly books on the subject which I am looking forward to reading & reviewing: Make: Electronics, Arduino: A Quick Start Guide and Getting Started With Arduino (all three of which arrived on my doorstep today.) This ties in with my "learn more about robotics" goals as well, since I'll need a good understanding of Electronics if I want to move past Lego Mindstorms eventually.

    I have a development setup from this tutorial: http://www.sitepoint.com/blogs/2009/10/27/build-your-own-dev-server-with-virtualbox/ But what I can't figure out is how to share a folder on my Ubuntu virtualized machine with the host Win7. I want to use a Windows text editor to edit code that's on my Ubuntu server. I've tried using the Shared Folders setting, adding "/var/www" but it says that the path is not absolute. When I click on "other", it only allows me to browse folders on my Win7 host. Both the host and guest are 64-bit OS. Thanks in advance!

  • Why can't I access a particular website even though the server appears to be available

    I can't access http://www.lynda.com/ with any of my browsers on my home network. By checking http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/, I can see that the server is up and I can access it via a proxy like TOR. This screen appears immediately after I type the page in It doesn't even try to load the page, it seems. Though when I ping the server I get this: I tried to do ipconfig /flushdns. But it didn't help either. Anyone know how to fix this?

    Hi, I am a complete apache and co newb. Currently it serves only the default page. On the default page, the user can not list the directory or files. When I create a directory, say /var/www/foobar and place files in it, the user can by doing: www.mydomain.org/foobar see the contents of the directory. I run pretty much the default configuration. on Directory "/", I have FollowSymlinks and AllowOverride(none) on what DocumentRoot points to I have Indexes FollowSymlinks MultiViews and "allow from all" set. My questions are: Can I stop people from listing subdirectories? Can people, if I do not change the configuration, in some way read the php files in there? (I mean not the rendered page, I mean the .php page source.) Pointers to good resources about this would also be nice. Thx in Advance.

    I am running Nginx 1.5.6 and I use the Simple Machines Forum software. Most rewrite rules seem to work properly, with the exception of the RSS feeds. In my Nginx configuration, I have the following line which is supposed to handle URLs which contain ".xml": rewrite ^/forum/(\.xml|xmlhttp)/?$ "/forum/index.php?pretty;action=$1" last; The above rule produces the following URL for the main forum, which returns a 403 Error: http://www.mydomain.com/forum/.xml/?type=rss I would like the rewrite rule to produce this type of URL, which returns code 200 (a real page): http://www.mydomain.com/forum/?type=rss;action=.xml Here is the entire block pertaining to the forum rewrites: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=tZkAibW3 I would really appreciate some help to create a rewrite rule to do that.   • Can't connect to YouTube from specific network

    Using my current network, I am unable to connect to http://www.youtube.com/. It doesn't matter what browser I use or if I use a cli-command (wget, curl). Error in Google Chrome: Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to www.youtube.com Error using curl: curl: (7) couldn't connect to host If I use nslookup to get the IP-address of YouTube, I get 173.194.32.32. If I go to http://173.194.32.32/ in my browser it can connect, but as Google is probably checking the Host HTTP-header, it shows Google's frontpage instead. There is no blocked websites on the router and other devices on the network seems to work. My computer only has this problem on this specific network. I am using Mac OS X 10.8.2 on a MacBook (mid 2009).

  • Need to hookup HP dv7-3085dx with Nvidia GeForce GT 230M to my Dell 30 inch LCD 3007WFP at max resol

    I recently bought an HP laptop (dv7-3085dx) (http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/hp-pavilion-dv7-3085dx/4505-3121_7-33776108.html) which is supposed to have a pretty good video card (NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M). The card is supposed to output a max resolution of 2560x1600 which is also the max resolution of my monitor (http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives/2006/02/dell_3007wfp_on_dell_2001fp_action_8_megapixel_desktop.html). Now I bought an HDMI to dual link dvi (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002KKLYDK/ref=oss_product) cable...this is after Best Buy's 70 dollar hdmi to dvi (perhaps it was 'single' link?) didn't give me the best resolution. In windows 7, when I try to set the max resolution for my 30 in monitor, I only get 1280x800...which is absurd. The monitor is great, I love the laptop and the video card supposedly supports such resolutions. So I can't figure out why I'm not getting better resolution (by the way, when i "detect" my monitor in windows 7, it is shown correctly as DELL 3007WFP!).

  • File not updating in symlink'd folder in IIS

    I have the following setup: Site1/Shared/ - Physical folder Site2/Shared/ - symlink using mklink to Site1/Shared I've updated a javascript file in Site1/Shared/scripts, and the change is being reflected on Site1. However, the change is not being reflected through IIS on Site2. When I open Site1/Shared/scripts/common.js and Site2/Shared/scripts/common.js, they match exactly. But when I view the files through Safari, Firefox, Chrome, IE, from any machine (even machines that have never visited the sites), the change is not reflected on Site2. Here are URLs to the files to review: Site 1: http://www.landsofamerica.com/shared/scripts/common.js Site 2: http://www.landsoftexas.com/shared/scripts/common.js These files look exactly the same when logged onto the server, and the shared folder under landsoftexas.com is a symlink created using mklink to the shared folder under landsofamerica.com. Any idea what might be causing IIS to serve the wrong file?

  • Virtualhost setup, same IP address, different DirectoryIndex's

    I am trying to set up 2 virtual host entries in apache but I'm not sure how to accomplish what I want to do. I have two domain names, both pointing to the same IP Address. I need the DirectoryIndex to be different, which is pretty much the only difference in the entries. I have the following set up: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName firstdomain.com ServerAdmin [email protected] DocumentRoot "/srv/www" DirectoryIndex /portals/site/index.html </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName seconddomain.com ServerAdmin [email protected] DocumentRoot "/srv/www" DirectoryIndex /portals/site/index_fr.html </VirtualHost> Not sure what I need to do differently but the second entry doesn't work. The only real difference is I need the second domain to point to a different DirectoryIndex. If there is a better way to accomplish this, your help would be appreciated.

  • Will search engines reindex a page that has been set to redirect on to a newer site page?

    We were asked by a client to change a website so that any pages/Urls we were hosting on an older site would now redirect to a newer site hosted somewhere else and a different domain name to boot. We did this by changing each page in the IIS site management, to redirect to a url on their new domain instead of rendering a page locally. According to the redirect tool here: http://www.webconfs.com/redirect-check.php . What we have done is search engine friendly. Problem now is... the client has been on a course learning all about meta tags and so thinks they have a better understanding of the "matrix" (remember there is no spoon). As Google still has the older site appearing in a search, this isnt helping matters. I have tried to explain, we have to wait for Google to reindex. I'm not blowing smoke am I? I'm now starting to wonder... will the older site always appear in a search, even though the pages don't exist? Is there a better way I should be redirecting their site to ensure google will stop keeping an index of pages that no longer exist and would instead replace them with the content in the newer site? a suggestion on the site mentioned above is to use the code: Response.Status="301 Moved Permanently" Response.AddHeader "Location","http://www.new-url.com/" Does using the option in the IIS management tool to redirect the url not do the same?

    I am trying to download a file with cURL from a password protected directory on my site. It is not working. Instead of the downloading the requested file, it downloads a HTML file that says, "Authentication Required!" I'm not sure what the problem is. I've tried both of these (with the same result).     I have a subdirectory abc in the document root /var/www/html I want to be able to run any file any_file.html within the subdirectory by typing in the browser: localhost/any_file instead of localhost/abc/any_file.html or my_domain.com/any_file instead of my_domain.com/abc/any_file.html I tried writing in httpd.conf: <Directory "/var/www/html/abc"> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteRule %{REQUEST_FILENAME} %{REQUEST_FILENAME}\.html </Directory> But it doesn't work. Options FollowSymLinks is activated in <Directory> so I believe I would not need to write this again. Does anyone knows why and how to solve it? Thanks.   • I'm running Ubuntu notebook on a USB drive with 1GB persistence. Where are my XAMPP files?

    I just began running Ubuntu Notebook on my 2GB USB stick, with 1GB persistence. After I installed XAMPP, I rebooted to make sure the persistence was working. It worked! My XAMPP installation worked, and it comes up when I type localhost into the browser. The sample apps work, including the ones using MySQL. But I can't find the application files! I am used to the vast labyrinth of files in Windows Explorer, and looking through 'Files and Folders' in GNOME, there seem to only be 7 or 8 folders in the entire OS? What is really going on here? I looked through them all and where is XAMPP? When I code PHP with a WAMP stack, all the .php files go in the 'WWW folder' What is the Linux equivalent of the WWW folder?

  • SSL Certificate Stops Working after Server Reboot on IIS7, W2K8

    We recently upgraded from W2K3/IIS6 to W2K8/IIS7 and have been having problems with our SSL Certificate (Thawte 123 SSL certificate) ceasing to work after rebooting. Initially, the intermediate certificates would stop working and we could repair the problem by reinstalling all of them after the reboot (annoying, but not the end of the world). Unfortunately, this is no longer working. The certificate chain has been doublechecked by several tools and people with decent knowledge but no one has been able to identify the cause of the problem. The bindings in IIS have been checked as well The cert itself is also still valid. NOTE 1: I have seen THIS question which seems to be very similar, but there is no satisfactory answer in that post and it's a year old so not likely to get one any time soon. NOTE 2: I'm asking this on behalf of a co-worker so won't be able to provide instant feedback to any questions/suggestions but I will pass it on.   • Impossible to boot Ubuntu on a USB stick (OS X Montain Lion)

    I know this has been discussed over and over but I still cannot run Ubuntu on a USB stick. Here's the step I followed: 1. I downloaded Ubuntu 12.10 (ubuntu-12.10-desktop-i386.iso) from http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop which I renamed 'ubuntu.iso'. I bought my Mac mid-2010, it has an Intel processor. 2. I formated my 16GB USB stick with HFS+ File System following this tutorial: http://www.switchingtomac.com/tutorials/how-to-format-a-drive-or-partition-with-the-hfs-file-system 3. I opened a terminal and typed: hdiutil convert -format UDRW -o ~/Downloads/ubuntu.img ~/Downloads/ubuntu.iso It created ubuntu.iso.dmg 4. I ran 'diskutil list' and identified the device node assigned to the USB. 5. I unmounted it: diskutil unmountDisk /dev/disk2 6. Then, I entered the command: sudo dd if=~/Downloads/ubuntu.img.dmg of=/dev/rdisk2 bs=1m. It seemed to work. A Mac message poped up saying that the system doesn't recognized the disk, I pressed 'ignore'. 7. I ejected the USB using diskutil eject /dev/disk2, then removed the USB. 8. I rebooted the computer, plugged the USB key, pressed ALT.I could see my Macintosh partition and my Windows partition, but couldn't see my USB stick. Any help will be very appreciated :) Victor

    Oracle OpenWorld Shanghai 2013 was held July 22nd – 25th at the International Expo Center in Shanghai, China. The conference drew over 19,000 attendees from 44 countries. In addition, 580 CxOs attended the Executive Edge program, and 430+ partners attended the Oracle Partner Network Exchange. The conference included a number of sessions on Big Data, Business Analytics, Business Intelligence and Enterprise Performance Management delivered by Oracle, our partners and customers.  I had the pleasure to attend the conference and delivered three sessions focused on Oracle’s Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) applications.
