  • what is the most elegant way in ruby to remove a parameter from url?

    - by dimus
I would like to take out a parameter from url by it's name without knowing if it is the first, middle or last parameter and reassemble url again. I guess it is not that hard to write something on my own using CGI or URI, but I imagine such functionality exists already. Any suggestions? in: http://example.com/path?param1=one&param2=2&param3=something3 out: http://example.com/path?param2=2&param3=something3

  • Get the subdomain from a URL

    - by jb
Getting the subdomain from a URL sounds easy at first. http://www.domain.example Scan for the first period then return whatever came after the "http://" ... Then you remember http://super.duper.domain.example Oh. So then you think, okay, find the last period, go back a word and get everything before! Then you remember http://super.duper.domain.co.uk And you're back to square one. Anyone have any great ideas besides storing a list of all TLDs? John

  • How can I parse_url in PHP when there is a URL in a string variable?

    - by Eric O
I am admittedly a PHP newbie, so I need some help. I am creating a self-designed affiliate program for my site and have the option for an affiliate to add a SubID to their link for tracking. Without having control over what is entered, I have been testing different scenarios and found a bug when a full URL is entered (i.e. "http://example.com"). In my PHP I can grab the variable from the string no problem. My problem comes from when I get the referring URL and parse it (since I need to parse the referring URL to get the host mane for other uses). Code below: $refURL = getenv("HTTP_REFERER"); $parseRefURL = parse_url($refURL); WORKS when incoming link is (for example): http://example.com/?ref=REFERRER'S-ID&sid=www.test.com ERROR when incoming link is (notice the addition of "http://" after "sid="): http://example.com/?ref=REFERRER'S-ID&sid=http://www.test.com Here is the warning message: Warning: parse_url(/?ref=REFERRER'S-ID&sid=http://www.test.com) [function.parse-url]: Unable to parse url in /home4/'directory'/public_html/hosterdoodle/header.php on line 28 Any ideas on how to keep the parse-url function from being thrown off when someone may decide to place a URL in a variable? (I actually tested this problem down to the point that it will throw the error with as little as ":/" in the variable)

  • Intelligent search and generation of Java code, preferrably using Python?

    - by Ipsquiggle
Basically, I do lots of one-off code generation, large-scale refactorings, etc. etc. in Java. My tool language of choice is Python, but I'll take whatever solutions you can offer. Here is a simplified illustration of what I would like, in a pseudocode Generating an implementation for an interface search within my project: for each Interface as iName: write class(name=iName+"Impl", implements=iName) search within the body of iName: for each Method as mName: write method(name=mName, body="// TODO implement this...") Basically, the tool I'm searching for would allow me to: parse files according to their Java structure ("search for interfaces") search for words contextualized by language elements and types ("variables of type SomeClass", "doStuff() method calls on SomeClass instances") to run searches with structural context ("within the body of the current result") easily replace or generate code (with helpers to generate, as above, or functions for replacing, "rename the interface to Foo", "insert the line Blah.Blah()", etc.) The point is, I don't want to spend a lot of time writing these things, as they are usually throwaway. But sometimes I need something just a little smarter than what grep offers. It wouldn't be too hard to write up a simplistic version of this, but if I'm going to use something like this at all, I'd expect it to be robust. Any suggestions of a tool/library that will help me accomplish this?

  • Java -Android. Parser problem

    - by Kano
I am making a very simple app with an RSS reader. The reader works great, but it's only giving me the title, and i want the description too. I'am very new to android, and I have tried a lot of things, but I can't get it to work. • In Jeditable, how do I make it so that when I click the div to edit, the text box content has initial value that is processed?

    - by TIMEX
When the user clicks on the div, jeditable will make a text box. However, I want the initial text to be done with function stripTags(), instead of what's on the page. The reason is that I'm using some URL techniques to turn plain text links into URLs. When the user clicks on the div, jeditable is turning them into <a href=>..</a> Is there a "beforeSubmit" option in jeditable? http://www.appelsiini.net/projects/jeditable

  • Java, How to Instance HttpCookie from a String, any convenient ways?

    - by user435657
Hi all, I have got a cookie string from HTTP response header like the following line: name=value; path=/; domain=.g.cn; expire=... I can parse the above line to key-value pairs, and, also it's easy to set the name and value to HttpCookie instance as this pair comes the first. But how to set the other pairs since I don't know which set-method corresponds to the name of the next name-value pair. Traverse all possible keys a cookie may contian and call the matched set-method, like below snippet? if (key.equalsIgnoreCase("path")) cookie.setPath(value); else if (key.equalsIgnoreCase("domain")) cookie.setDomain(value); That's foolish, any convenient ways? Thanks in advance.

  • How to parse multiple dates from a block of text in Python (or another language)

    - by mlissner
I have a string that has several date values in it, and I want to parse them all out. The string is natural language, so the best thing I've found so far is dateutil. Unfortunately, if a string has multiple date values in it, dateutil throws an error: >>> s = "I like peas on 2011-04-23, and I also like them on easter and my birthday, the 29th of July, 1928" >>> parse(s, fuzzy=True) Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.7/dateutil/parser.py", line 697, in parse return DEFAULTPARSER.parse(timestr, **kwargs) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.7/dateutil/parser.py", line 303, in parse raise ValueError, "unknown string format" ValueError: unknown string format Any thoughts on how to parse all dates from a long string? Ideally, a list would be created, but I can handle that myself if I need to. I'm using Python, but at this point, other languages are probably OK, if they get the job done. PS - I guess I could recursively split the input file in the middle and try, try again until it works, but it's a hell of a hack.

  • XPathDocument behavior with DOCTYPE declaration

    - by gliderkite
I use XPathDocument to parse an XML file, but if there's a doctype declaration, when I initializes a new instance of the XPathDocument class passing the path of the file, that contains the XML data, to its constructor, my application tries to connect to internet (probably to verify the correctness of the XML data) and remains blocked for a long period of time. This does not occur if I delete the doctype declaration from the XML file. XmlDocument.Load method has the same behavior. How can I fix this problem? Thanks.

  • How to generate random strings that match a given regexp?

    - by Pies
Duplicate: Random string that matches a regexp No, it isn't. I'm looking for an easy and universal method, one that I could actually implement. That's far more difficult than randomly generating passwords. I want to create an application that takes a regular expression, and shows 10 randomly generated strings that match that expression. It's supposed to help people better understand their regexps, and to decide i.e. if they're secure enough for validation purposes. Does anyone know of an easy way to do that? One obvious solution would be to write (or steal) a regexp parser, but that seems really over my head. I repeat, I'm looking for an easy and universal way to do that. Edit: Brute force approach is out of the question. Assuming the random strings would just be [a-z0-9]{10} and 1 million iterations per second, it would take 65 years to iterate trough the space of all 10-char strings.

  • How to find multiple words on the same line in Notepad++

    - by Mike
I have a 4MB log file from the Windows XP firewall which I'm trying to find lines that have both DROP and an IP and a port number. My regex-fu is weak and I'm assuming this is the reason I'm struggling. The words "DROP", "10.1.1.1" (for example) and "8801" need to be found on the same line and may be spread across the line and separated by one or more other words. Any help (or suggestions of another method to do this) are much appreciated.

  • Find XmlNode where attribute value is contained in string

    - by bflemi3
    I have an xml file... <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <items defaultNode="1"> <default contentPlaceholderName="pageContent" template="" genericContentItemName="" /> <item urlSearchPattern="connections-learning" contentPlaceholderName="pageContent" template="Connections Learning Content Page" genericContentItemName="" /> <item urlSearchPattern="online-high-school" contentPlaceholderName="pageContent" template="" genericContentItemName="" /> </items> I am trying to find the first node where the urlSearchPattern attribute is contained in the string urlSearchPattern. Where I'm having trouble is finding the nodes where the attribute is contained in the string value instead of the string value be contained in the attribute. Here's my attempt so far. This will find the firstOrDefault node where the string value is contained in the attribute (I need the opposite)... string urlSearchPattern = Request.QueryString["aspxerrorpath"]; MissingPageSettingsXmlDocument missingPageSettingsXmlDocument = new MissingPageSettingsXmlDocument(); XmlNode missingPageItem = missingPageSettingsXmlDocument.SelectNodes(ITEM_XML_PATH).Cast<XmlNode>().Where(item => item.Attributes["urlSearchPattern"].ToString().ToLower().Contains(urlSearchPattern)).FirstOrDefault();

  • Javascript doesn't change document?

    - by egbokul
Take a look at this example code, which doesn't work: <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function moveMe() { document.getElementById('moveme').top = 200; document.getElementById('moveme').style.backgroundcolor = 'green'; document.getElementById('writeme').innerHtml = 'abc'; alert('called!'); } // --> </script> <style type="text/css"> .moveable { position: absolute; top: 30px; left: 200px; width: 100px; height: 100px; background-color: yellow; } #writeme { background-color: red; color: white; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="moveme" class="moveable" onClick="moveMe()"> <p id="writeme">Hello!</p> </div> </body> </html> When I click on the text the alert is displayed, but nothing is changed in the document. The paragraph text is not overwritten, the div is not moved... tested it in FF and IE, also checked the DOM via Firebug: strange thing is that the new values are written to the nodes, but they are displayed in bold, and the old values are still there. WTF? I guess I'm missing something fundamental here.

  • Convert date in text format to datetime format in T-SQL

I have a client supplied file that is loaded in to our SQL Server database. This file contains text based date values i.e. (05102010) and I need to read them from a db column and convert them to a normal date time value = '2010-05-10 00:00:00.000' as part of a clean-up process. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Are there libraries or techniques for collecting and weighing keywords from a block of text?

    - by Soviut
I have a field in my database that can contain large blocks of text. I need to make this searchable but don't have the ability to use full text searching. Instead, on update, I want my business layer to process the block of text and extract keywords from it which I can save as searchable metadata. Ideally, these keywords could then be weighed based on the number of times they appear in the block of text. Naturally, words like "the", "and", "of", etc. should be discarded as they just add a lot of noise to the search. Are there tools or libraries in Python that can do this filtering or should I roll my own?

  • Jquery UI dialog does not disappear

    - by iamrohitbanga
I am using jquery-ui tabs and dialog functionality. Each tab has a button on the page which opens a dialog. This works for one of the tabs. However if I go the second tab, the button does not work there. When I come back to the first tab, the dialog does show up but the problem is I notice as I make switches back and forth to the first tab, it keeps on inserting new div's while the old div's have display:none set on them. I am doing this using JSP. This is how the reusable jsp looks like: <script> $(function() { var formData = null; $.ajax({ url : "addFormGenerator.html", success : function(data) { formData = data; $("#addFormDialog").html(data); $("#addFormDialog").dialog({ autoOpen : false, height : 300, width : 350, modal : true, buttons : { "Add" : function() { $(this).dialog("close"); }, Cancel : function() { $(this).dialog("close"); } }, close : function() { } }); } }); $("#addButton").button().click(function() { $("#addFormDialog").html(formData); $("#addFormDialog").dialog("open"); }); }); </script> <button id="addButton">Click here to Add New</button> <div id="addFormDialog" title="Add New"></div> This jsp fragment is included in other jsp pages as well. I was assuming as I switch between tabs the old button will be garbage collected. Can you help me understand the problem and fix it?

  • Partially parse C++ for a domain-specific language

    - by PierreBdR
I would like to create a domain specific language as an augmented-C++ language. I will need mostly two types of contructs: Top-level constructs for specialized types or declarations In-code constructs, i.e. to add primitives to make functions calls or idiom easier The language will be used for scientific computing purposes, and will ultimately be translated into plain C++. C++ has been chosen as it seems to offer a good compromise between: ease of use, efficiency and availability of a wide range of libraries. A previous attempt using flex and bison failed due to the complexity of the C++ syntax. The existing parser can still fail on some constructs. So we want to start over, but on better bases. Do you know about similar projects? And if you attempted to do so, what tools would you use? What would be the main pitfalls? Would you have recommendations in term of syntax?
