  i'm trying to use the wave module to read wav files in python. whats not typical of my applications is that I'm NOT using a file or a filename to read the wav file, but instead i have the wav file in a buffer.   Hello StackOverFlow, My first question and Im excited... I've lurked since go-live and love the site, however I apologize for any newbie errors, formatting, etc... I'm attempting to validate the format of a string field that contains a date in Java. We will receive the date in a string, I will validate its format before parsing it into a real Date object. The format being passed in is in the YYYY-MM-DD format. However I'm stuck on one of my tests, if I pass in "1999-12-33" the test will fail (as it should with a day number 33) with this incomplete pattern: ((19|20)\\d{2})-([1-9]|0[1-9]|1[0-2])-([12][0-9]|3[01]) However as soon as I add the characters in bold below it passes the test (but should not) ((19|20)\\d{2})-([1-9]|0[1-9]|1[0-2])-(0[1-9]|[1-9]|[12][0-9]|3[01]) *additional note, I know I can change the 0[1-9]|[1-9] into 0?[1-9] but I wanted to break everything down to its most simple format to try and find why this isn't working. • Python and Unicode: How everything should be Unicode

  Forgive if this a long a question: I have been programming in Python for around six months. Self taught, starting with the Python tutorial and then SO and then just using Google for stuff. Here is the sad part: No one told me all strings should be Unicode. No, I am not lying or making this up, but where does the tutorial mention it? And most examples also I see just make use of byte strings, instead of Unicode strings. I was just browsing and came across this question on SO, which says how every string in Python should be a Unicode string. This pretty much made me cry! I read that every string in Python 3.0 is Unicode by default, so my questions are for 2.x: Should I do a: print u'Some text' or just print 'Text' ? Everything should be Unicode, does this mean, like say I have a tuple: t = ('First', 'Second'), it should be t = (u'First', u'Second')? I read that I can do a from __future__ import unicode_literals and then every string will be a Unicode string, but should I do this inside a container also? When reading/ writing to a file, I should use the codecs module. Right? Or should I just use the standard way or reading/ writing and encode or decode where required? If I get the string from say raw_input(), should I convert that to Unicode also? What is the common approach to handling all of the above issues in 2.x? The from __future__ import unicode_literals statement? Sorry for being a such a noob, but this changes what I have been doing for a long time and so clearly I am confused.

• Extracting a .app from a zip file in Python, using ZipFile

  I'm trying to extract new revisions of Chromium.app from their snapshots, and I can download the file fine, but when it comes to extracting it, ZipFile either extracts the chrome-mac folder within as a file, says that directories don't exist, etc. I am very new to python, so these errors make little sense to me. • Django sitemap intermittent www

  The automatic sitemap for my Django site fluctuates between including the www on urls and leaving it out (I'm aiming to have it in all the time). This has ramifications in google not indexing my pages properly so I'm trying to narrow down what would be causing this issue. I have set PREPEND_WWW = True and my site record in the sites framework is set to include the www e.g. it's set to www.example.com as opposed to example.com. I'm using memcached but pages should expire from the cache after 48 hours so I wouldn't have thought that would be causing the issue? You can see the problem in effect at http://www.livingspaceltd.co.uk/sitemap.xml (refresh the page a few times). • Singleton EXC_BAD_ACCESS

  Hi, so I have a class that I decleare as a singleton and in that class I have a NSMutableArray that contains some NSDictionaries with some key/value pairs in them. The trouble is it doesn't work and I dont't know why... I mean it crashes with EXC_BAD_ACCESS but i don't know where. • Use Django ORM as standalone [closed]

  Possible Duplicates: Use only some parts of Django? Using only the DB part of Django I want to use the Django ORM as standalone. Despite an hour of searching Google, I'm still left with several questions: Does it require me to set up my Python project with a setting.py, /myApp/ directory, and modules.py file? Can I create a new models.py and run syncdb to have it automatically setup the tables and relationships or can I only use models from existing Django projects? There seems to be a lot of questions regarding PYTHONPATH. If you're not calling existing models is this needed? I guess the easiest thing would be for someone to just post a basic template or walkthrough of the process, clarifying the organization of the files e.g.: db/ __init__.py settings.py myScript.py orm/ __init__.py models.py And the basic essentials: # settings.py from django.conf import settings settings.configure( DATABASE_ENGINE = "postgresql_psycopg2", DATABASE_HOST = "localhost", DATABASE_NAME = "dbName", DATABASE_USER = "user", DATABASE_PASSWORD = "pass", DATABASE_PORT = "5432" ) # orm/models.py # ... # myScript.py # import models..   I have been trying to write a regex that will remove whitespace following a semicolon (';') when it is between both an open and close curly brace ('{','}'). I've gotten somewhere but haven't been able to pull it off.   I am writing a simple little DSL for specifying constraints on messages, and Have been trying without success for a while to embed XBase expressions into the language. The Grammar looks like this: grammar org.xtext.businessrules.BusinessRules with org.eclipse.xtext.xbase.Xbase //import "http://www.eclipse.org/xtext/xbase/Xbase" as xbase import "http://www.eclipse.org/xtext/common/JavaVMTypes" as jvmTypes generate businessRules "http://www.xtext.org/businessrules/BusinessRules" Start: rules+=Constraint*; Constraint: {Constraint} 'FOR' 'PAYLOAD' payload=PAYLOAD 'ELEMENT' element=ID 'CONSTRAINED BY' constraint=XExpression; PAYLOAD: "SimulationSessionEvents" |"stacons" |"any" ; Range: 'above' min=INT ('below' max=INT)? |'below' max=INT ('above' min=INT)? ; When trying to parse a file such as: FOR PAYLOAD SimulationSessionEvents ELEMENT matrix CONSTRAINED BY ... I can't get it to work for ... = any kind of Arithmetic expression, although it works for ...= loop or if expression, or even just a number. As soon as I do something like '-5' or '4-5' it says Couldn't resolve reference to JvmIdentifiableElement '-', even though the Xbase.xtext Grammar looks like it allows these expressions. I don't think I'm missing any Jars, as it doesn't complain when I run the mwe workflow, but only when trying to parse the input file. Any help would be much appreciated.
