• Django gives "I/O operation on closed file" error when reading from a saved ImageField

  I have a model with two image fields, a source image and a thumbnail. When I update the new source image, save it and then try to read the source image to crop/scale it to a thumbnail I get an "I/O operation on closed file" error from PIL. If I update the source image, don't save the source image, and then try to read the source image to crop/scale, I get an "attempting to read from closed file" error from PIL. In both cases the source image is actually saved and available in later request/response loops. If I don't crop/scale in a single request/response loop but instead upload on one page and then crop/scale in another page this all works fine. This seems to be a cached buffer being reused some how, either by PIL or by the Django file storage. Any ideas on how to make an ImageField readable after saving?

  Hi, I'm having to develop a site on PHP 5.1.6 and I've just come across a bug in my site which isn't happening on 5.2+. When using foreach() to iterate over an object, I get the following error: "Fatal error: Objects used as arrays in post/pre increment/decrement must return values by reference..." Does anyone know how to convert the following foreach loop to a construct which will work with 5.1.6? • Does a System.Collection.Collection<T> wrap a IList<T> or enumerate over the IList<T> or simply wra

  If I am exposing a internal member via a Collection property via: public Collection<T> Entries { get { return new Collection<T>(this.fieldImplimentingIList<T>); } } When this property is called what happens? For example what happens when the following lines of code are called: T test = instanceOfAbove.Entries[i]; instanceOfAbove[i] = valueOfTypeT; It's clear that each time this property is called a new reference type is created but what acctually happens? Does it simply wrap the IList<T> underneath, does it enumerate over the IList<T> and to create a new Collection<T> instance? I'm concerned about performance if this property is used in a for loop.

  Hi, I have a vector of Rect: vector<Rect> myRecVec; I would like to remove the ones which are overlapping in the vector: So I have 2 nested loop like this: vector<Rect>::iterator iter1 = myRecVec.begin(); vector<Rect>::iterator iter2 = myRecVec.begin(); while( iter1 != myRecVec.end() ) { Rectangle r1 = *iter1; while( iter2 != myRecVec.end() ) { Rectangle r2 = *iter1; if (r1 != r2) { if (r1.intersects(r2)) { // remove r2 from myRectVec } } } } My question is how can I remove r2 from the myRectVect without screwing up both my iterators? Since I am iterating a vector and modifying the vector at the same time? I have thought about putting r2 in a temp rectVect and then remove them from the rectVect later (after the iteration). But how can I skip the ones in this temp rectVect during iteration?

• How to solve the performance decay of a VB.NET 1.1 application?

  I have single-thread windows form application written with VB.NET and targeting Framework 1.1. The software communicates with external boards through a serial interface, and it mainly consist of a state machine that run some tests, driven in a loop done with a Timer and an Interval of 50ms. The feedback on the user interface is done through some custom events raised during the tests. The problem that is driving me crazy is that the performance slightly decrease over time, and in particular after 1200/1300 test operations. The memory occupied does not increase over time, it is only the CPU that seems interested by this problem. The strange thing is that, targeting framework 2.0 and using the same identical code, I do not have this problem. I know that is difficult without looking at the code, but do you have suggestions how can I approach the problem?

  Hi all! I've got a cms-driven website, with no option to change the code. What I want to accomplish is creating friendly url's, using only apaches mod-rewrite engine. The problem is I'm creating an infinite loop, because I first redirect the original url (index.php?id=21) to a friendly one (/friendly/) and then rewrite the '/friendly' part back to 'id=21' I know there should be an extra condition or parameter to avoid looping in this case, but I can´t get one of the possible solutions to work. • Injecting dependency into entity repository

  Is there a simple way to inject a dependency into every repository instance in Doctrine2 ? I have tried listening to the loadClassMetadata event and using setter injection on the repository but this naturally resulted in a infinite loop as calling getRepository in the event triggered the same event. • CORE DATA objectId changes constantly

  Hello, I have some data that I export into an XML file and put in a remote FTP Server. I have to identified each object with a unique attribute, it doesn't matter wich is, but must be persistent always = it can never change. I don't want to create a unique attribute, sequence, serial, etc. I'm using the objectID but every time I use it a get a new reference. I know that before the object has been saved, it has a 'temporal id', but once it's saved, it gets the definitive. I'm not seeing this, never.   I have a class which is being operated on by two functions. One function creates a list of widgets and writes it into the class: def updateWidgets(self): widgets = self.generateWidgetList() self.widgets = widgets the other function deals with the widgets in some way: def workOnWidgets(self): for widget in self.widgets: self.workOnWidget(widget) each of these functions runs in it's own thread. the question is, what happens if the updateWidgets() thread executes while the workOnWidgets() thread is running? I am assuming that the iterator created as part of the for...in loop will keep some kind of reference to the old self.widgets object? So I will finish iterating over the old list... but I'd love to know for sure.

• How to effectively draw on desktop in C#?

  I want to draw directly on the desktop in C#. From searching a bit, I ended up using a Graphics object from the Desktop HDC (null). Then, I painted normally using this Graphics object. The problem is that my shapes get lost when any part of the screen is redrawn. I tried a While loop, but it actually ends up drawing as fast as the application can, which is not the update rate of the desktop. Normally, I would need to put my drawing code in a "OnPaint" event, but such thing does not exist for the desktop. How would I do it?   I'm trying to create a file that has a list of directories that have a specific file name in them. Let's say I'm trying to find directories that have a file named *.joe in them. I initially tried just a simple dir /ad *.joe > dir_list.txt , but it searches the directory names for *.joe, so no go. Then I concluded that a for loop was probably my best bet. I started with for /d /r %a in ('dir *.joe /b') do @echo %a >> dir_list.txt and it looked like it wasn't executing the dir command. I added the "usebackq", but that seems to only work for the /F command extension. Ideas?

  From the docs: If you change the input value in a validate:error: method, you must ensure that you only change the value if it is invalid or uncoerced. The reason is that, since the object and context are now dirtied, Core Data may validate that key again later. If you keep performing a coercion in a validation method, this can therefore produce an infinite loop. So when I modify a value in a validation method, the context gets dirtied? And the next time I save, the validation happens again - and when I change the value even if the validation is OK, then the context is again dirtied, and revalidated again - and I change the value, and Core Data validates, again, because the context is dirtied. And so on...for ever... is that right? Or did they try to say something different?

  Since I was 12, I was always wondering how I can make a function which calculates the power (e.g. 23) myself. In most languages these are included in the standard library, mostly as pow(double x, double y), but how can I write it myself? I was thinking about for loops, but it think my brain got in a loop (when I wanted to do a power with a non-integer exponent, like 54.5 or negatives 2-21) and I went crazy ;) So, how can I write a function which calculates the power of a real number? • SQL Server Agent 2005 job runs but no output

  Essentially I have a job which runs in BIDS and as as a stand lone package and while it runs under the SQL Server Agent it doesn't complete properly (no error messages though). The job steps are: 1) Delete all rows from table; 2) Use For each loop to fill up table from Excel spreasheets; 3) Clean up table. I've tried this [MS page][1] (steps 1 & 2), didn't see any need to start changing from Server side security. Also SQLServerCentral.com for [this page][2], no resolution. How can I get error logging or a fix? Note I've reposted this from Server Fault as it's one of those questions that's not pure admin or programming. I have logged in as the proxy account I'm running this under, and the job runs stand alone but complains that the Excel tables are empty?

I'm thinking about something like: function my_functions() { require_once('functions1.php'); require_once('functions2.php'); require_once('functions3.php'); } And then some foreach loop, but I'm not sure how should it look like after all. I know this probably looks tricky, but I'm just curious if I'm able to list all my WordPress shortcodes without PHP's Reflection API :)

• Git Status Across Multiple Repositories on a Mac

  I have been searching for a solution to this for a while and have not found quite what I need. I have several Git Repositories in a folder on my Mac (OSX 10.6) and would like a script or tool that will loop through all the repositories and let me know if any of them needs "commit"-ing. This is my structure Sites   /project1   /project2   /project3 I want the tool to do a "git status" in Sites/project1, Sites/project2, Sites/project3 and let me know if Sites/project2 and Sites/project3 have changes or new files and needs to be Staged/committed The closest script I found that might be hackable is here: http://gist.github.com/371828 but even that script wouldn't run and I get an error: "syntax error near unexpected token `do" which might have been written for *nix.
